The next, and the most important, part of the article is a short characteristics of the chosen eyetracking parameters that are commonly used in different types of eye-tracking data analysis. They were chosen on the basis of the author’s own research experience in the field of experimental eye-tracking glottodidactics.

Opis:
This text, on its theoretical plane, sketches the differentia specifica existing between Polish (applied) linguistics and didactics (methodology) of foreign language teaching and learning/ glottodidactics as well as probes contexts of teaching the native versus the other (i.e. foreign) language – based on English. After referring to some of the most important works found in the (Polish) literature (all concerned with teaching and learning the English language), in the further part of the article, the author advises on current education system in Poland. The empirical section, in turn, quotes the most recent figures excerpted from the data published by the Central Statistical Office in Poland, and regarding the number of speakers of particular modern foreign languages (based on primary, lower secondary and secondary education in the preceding school year, i.e. 2016–2017).

Opis:
The focus in the present contribution is on glottodidactics researchers’ attempts at working out a coherent model of foreign language acquisition in its both cognitive and neurobiological aspects. It is argued that the latest developments in cognitive linguistics as well as in psycholinguistics do offer an elaborate account of the nature and the structure of human language capacity, and, as such, they can constitute a source of inspiration for glottodidactics research. By contrast, despite significant achievements over the last decades, our knowledge of the language-mind interface is still elementary, speculative, and does not prove to be significantly relevant for glottodidactics.

Opis:
The main purpose of the paper is both to present and to highlight the wide range of artificial intelligence appliance in linguistic research. I intend to define the so called ‘linguistic intelligence’ in the sense of machine learning, based mainly on artificial neural networks. Linguistic intelligent solutions seem to be not only up-to-date but also very promising in the area of developing and improving any intelligent linguistic tools, such as intelligent tutoring systems that are able to interact with human being, or the voice (speech) recognition systems that are able to receive, interpret (understand) and sometimes even carry out spoken commands. Finally, I intend to present the area of so called ‘terminotics’. The term refers to the meeting point of three interrelated disciplines: terminology, computational linguistics and linguistic engineering. This branch is also assisted by computer tools and new technologies based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. These (tools) are mainly designed for term extraction and corpora development but lately there are also some new possibilities to use these tools to increase the quality of terminology infrastructure as well.

The book is intended not only for teachers. Students will also find valuable information, consisting an introduction to issues associated with the profession of a teacher and translator. The advantage of the book is the inclusion of different stages of teaching: from teaching a foreign language in kindergarten, through the training of foreign language students and teachers, developing translation skills at the collegiate and academic level, to non-academic education in the field of competence development of a sworn translator.

The project consisted of eye tracking study and psychological testing of some of the participants. In this article the theoretical background on the field of interest, i.e. textbooks and textbooks of English, dyslexia and eye tracking, is given. The final part of it constitutes the brief summary of the very first part of the project eye tracking study, its conclusions and impact on the second part the results of which are being analysed.
