    The aim of this article is to present the results of the research into the reception of Oscarwinning movies among teenagers (lower and upper secondary school students). Three movies, namely Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Reader were the favourites of the young viewers. The students watched the films attentively and were able to present and justify their choices and opinions. The results of the survey created quite a coherent and homogenous picture of the movies. It seems that the students’ interest in the cinema and the capability of critical thinking derive from the media education provided by the school.

    The article discusses the current condition of film education in schools, juxtaposed with characteristics of the culture of participation (the culture of taking part). Inadequacies of the classic model of film education can be overcome in teaching by highlighting media practices of young people. The use of their semiotic activity would have a great educational value, and at the same time it would foster the creation of a critical approach to forms of media presentations and of responsibility for the actions taken.

    The article is dedicated to the ever growing criticism of large IT corporations that are trying to take the full control over the global Internet. The author analyses the reasons of the setback in the reflexion regarding the capabilities of the social media, ranging from firm optimism to equally firm pessimism. The creativity offered by those media becomes the product made by the global corporations who started by offering the website searching services and ended up keeping their authors and users under surveillance. The article poses the questions about the education method for the young Internet users, for whom the technologies present in the web 2.0 (and 3.0 or mobile) became the element of their everyday life. In order to understand the nature of these technologies one needs to regard them as things, objects and tools, in other words to “switch them off” intellectually.

    The purpose of this article is to show the need for television competence development in various forms of home education. This issue is shown in the perspective of psychology of child development, mainly social, emotional, cognitive and linguistic aspects of the process.     Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza koncepcji medialabu oraz jej znaczenia dla edukacji medialnej. Artykuł uwzględnia współczesny dyskurs dotyczący laboratoriów cyfrowej humanistyki oraz szerzej ujmowanego zwrotu laboratoryjnego. Rozważania teoretyczne uzupełnia studium przypadku Medialabu Gdańsk, Medialabu Katowice oraz UBU labu w Krakowie. Analiza instytucji została przeprowadzona na podstawie badań jakościowych. Perspektywa trzech zróżnicowanych inicjatyw wskazuje na zupełnie odmienne wdrażanie postulatów edukacji medialnej i cyfrowej osadzonej w lokalnym kontekście kulturowo-społecznym.
    The goal of this article is to analyze concept of medialab and meaning of paradigm for media education. The author takes into account contemporary discourse of digital humanities laboratories and laboratory turn. Theoretical considerations are filled by case study of Medialab Gdańsk, Medialab Katowice and UBU lab in Krakow. Analysis of these institutions was provided by qualitative research. The perspective of three different initiatives indicates various methods of implementation of media and digital education postulates set in local cultural-social context.

    Edukacja medialna w krajach demokracji konkurencyjnej podlega cyklicznym zmianom wprowadzanym przez kolejne elity władzy. Kongres Edukacji Medialnej służył integracji wysiłków podejmowanych przez podmioty instytucjonalne, edukacyjne, rządowe i pozarządowe. Rekomendacje dotyczyły rozumienia kompetencji medialnych, potrzebnych działań i wprowadzania nowych technologii. Między pierwszym i drugim Kongresem Edukacji Medialnej wprowadzono elektroniczne podręczniki i podstawy programowe, odbyto wybory prezydenckie i samorządowe, podejmowane były inicjatywy w zakresie kształcenia nauczycieli. Przygotowano też ustawę o mediach publicznych i strategię wdrażania szerokopasmowego Internetu do szkół.
    Media education in a competitive democracy countries is subject to cyclical changes. They are implemented by the consecutive power elite. Media Education Congress served the integration of efforts undertaken by: institutional entities, educational, governmental and non-governmental organizations. Recommendations relate to the understanding of media competence, the necessary actions and the introduction of new technologies. After the Congress electronic textbooks and curricula were introduced, and initiatives in the field of teacher education were taken. Also the law on public media and strategy for implementing broadband Internet to schools has been prepared.

    Using photographs in English history teaching shows pupils the diversity of the past. Photos help understand history. We should remember that every teacher in Great Britain knows how to use sources in teaching about the past. Photographs are not only a supplement to the main text in pupils’ coursebook. Very often they form an independent historic source, which helps in discovering the topic, or is an element of infographics.

    Artykuł jest propozycją zastosowania elementów teorii dzikich błękitnych mediów Melody Jue do analizy filmu dokumentalnego Czego nauczyła mnie ośmiornica (2020), a także do konceptualnej pracy nad badawczo-artystycznym projektem cyfrowego Archiwum Błękitnej Humanistyki, realizowanym przeze mnie we współpracy z interdyscyplinarną artystką Justyną Górowską. W pierwszej części tekstu teoria mediów specyficznych dla środowisk akwatycznych służy pokazaniu zmieniających się konwencji filmów dokumentalnych na temat podwodnego świata przyrody. W drugiej części tekstu przedstawiam projekt powstającej w oparciu o tę teorię bazy danych, której celem jest zbieranie, konceptualne i artystyczne opracowanie materiałów dotyczących reprezentacji zanikającej bioróżnorodności podwodnego świata. Teoria dzikich błękitnych mediów sytuowana jest również w pejzażu humanistyki nieantropocentrycznej oraz błękitnej humanistyki.
    The article is a proposal to apply the elements of Melody Jue’s wild blue media theory to analyze documentary movie My Octopus Teacher (2020), as well as in the conceptual work on the artistic-research project of the digital Blue Humanities Archive, which I develop in cooperation with the interdisciplinary artist, Justyna Górowska. In the first part of the text, the theory of media specific to aquatic environments helps to show the changing convention of documentaries about the underwater world of nature. In the second part, I presenta project of a database based on this theory. The aim of the archive is to collect, conceptually and artistically develop various materials related to the representation of the disappearing  biodiversity of the underwater world. The theory of wild blue media is also situated in the landscape of the non-anthropocentric humanities and the blue humanities.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie metody „Patrz mądrzej”, w której wykorzystano film jako przekaz wielokodowy, intermedialny i narracyjny; dzięki tym atrybutom może być wykorzystywany do działań edukacyjnych i terapeutycznych. Istotą pracy z filmem według tej metody jest uczenie na filmie, uczenie przez film oraz uczenie poza filmem. O pomyślnym wykorzystaniu filmu w tym procesie decydują przede wszystkim: prawidłowy dobór filmu do założonych celów oraz atrybutów grupy/osoby oraz właściwe kompetencje psychologiczne edukatora, który posiada również umiejętność oszacowania skuteczności osiągniętych rezultatów. Ostatnia część artykułu została poświęcona syntetycznej prezentacji studium przypadku, w którym opisano możliwość zastosowania tej metody w pracy ze studentami kulturoznawstwa i wiedzy o mediach w ramach przedmiotu: psychologia społeczna.
    The aim of the article is to present the “Look Smarter” method, which uses the film as a multicode, inter-media and narrative transfer; these attributes allow it to be used in education and therapeutic activities. The gist of working with a film according to this method is to learn on the film, learn through the film and learn beyond the film. The successful use of the film in this process is determined by most of all: correct choice of film for the undertaken aims and attributes of the group/person, and appropriate psychological competences of the educator, who also possesses the ability to weigh the efficiency if the achieved results. The last part of the article is devoted to the synthetic presentation of a case study, which describes a possibility to use this method in working with students of culture studies and media studies within the subject: social psychology.

    Opis:
    In the article, the author stresses the necessity to abandon the traditional ways of teaching the Polish language and instead to develop the Key Competencies by utilizing private educational websites. During the crisis of traditional Polish philology, Polish language teachers and tutors discover new challenges as a result of alteration of the communication tools. Private educational sites represent the hi-tech didactic tools, which may co-determine the shape of the post-traditional Polish language teaching. National curriculum 2008 gives teachers and tutors a lot of freedom in constructing their own curriculum, however it requires possession of high competencies of the subject, just as maintaining one’s own website does. A creative use of contemporary didactic tools (but not colonization of such) represents a chance to counteract digital exclusion, structural violence and cosmopolitan identification; in addition it promotes e-inclusion. These are educational tasks important in countries in which the foreign capital dominates the media market (e.g. in Poland or Russia). It is only in the countries of so-called “democratic corporatism” (e.g. Germany, Austria, Norway) that electronic media are supervised, respect values fundamental for the society, address national concerns and serve local communities. Therefore, creation of private professional educational sites by Polish language teachers and tutors offers a chance to promote the national culture, to transform the subject “Polish language” into a post-traditional one, to develop the Key Competencies and to promote e-inclusion
