Opis:
The present paper deals with investigations concerning optical magnetic sensors. The most important advantage of sensors of this kind is their safety of service and insulating power. The insensitiveness of optical sensors to electromagnetic interference was discussed and experimentally investigated. The experimental investigations were concentrated on the adequate sensing fibre as well as on the sensor based on the bulk glass cylinder. The paper presents the results of magnetooptic tests of the elaborated magnetic field optical sensors and conclusions arise from them.

Opis:
Small sizes of nanoparticles lead to the appearance of new unique functional properties. Under transition to nanosizes in metals and their compounds new specific characteristics appears. In this work, the microstructural and magnetic properties of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles (Fe₃O₄-NP) have been compared with those of commercially available Fe₃O₄ microparticles (Fe₃O₄-MP) and detailed analysis of differences has been carried out. The synthesis of Fe₃O₄-NP was carried out by means of colloidal method performed without the use of surfactants. Commercial and synthesized particles were characterized using NTEGRA Prima (NT-MDT) atomic force microscope. For magnetic properties investigations we used the method of vibrating sample magnetometer.

Opis:
Results of compressibility measurements of $AgI-Ag_{2}MoO_{4}$ materials for different concentrations of AgI were presented. The obtained results were compared with phase diagram and internal structure of material. It was found that observed values of compressibility coefficient can be related to internal structure of investigated material.

Opis:
We investigated low-temperature specific heat of the filled skutterudite compound LaOs₄As₁₂ with a transition temperature $T_{c}$ = 3.2 K. A moderate size of a specific-heat jump points at a weak electron-phonon coupling in this material. At T < $T_{c}$, the electronic contribution to the specific heat was found to be at variance with the predictions for an s-wave superconductor with one energy gap. Additionally, we observed an upward curvature of the upper critical field near the transition temperature. Both features provide some indications towards multiband superconductivity, although anisotropy effects as a viable cause of the observed anomalies in LaOs₄As₁₂ cannot be excluded. Similarities to a probable two-band superconductor LaRu₄As₁₂ are discussed.

Opis:
A brief review of the experimental data on the metastable DX-centers in AlGaAs is presented. The experimental proofs of the two-electron nature and of the intermediate, one-electron state of the DX-centers are discussed. We collect the available experimental data on the ground state, electron-emission and capture energies and we discuss the nature of the lattice barrier. The effect of splitting of these energies in AlGaAs alloys and the consequences of the splitting on the capture and emission kinetics are analyzed. The different character of the barrier and of the alloy splitting for donors of the IV and VI group is underlined. The necessity to consider the interdonor Coulomb interaction when discussing the experimental data is also pointed out.

Opis:
In this paper the results of the influence of physical characteristics of flat plate solar radiation concentrators made of Al sheet and Al foil on energy efficiency of PV/thermal collector are presented. The measurements results obtained by means of scanning electron microscope, reflectance and chemical composition of solar radiation concentrators are given. Optimal position of solar radiation concentrators and appropriate thermal and electrical energy of PV/thermal collector were determined. Total generated thermal and electrical energy during the day by PV/thermal collector with concentrators in optimal position are higher than the total generated thermal and electrical energy obtained by PV/thermal collector without concentrators.

Opis:
The application of the stochastic genetic algorithm in tandem with the deterministic Powell method to automated extraction of the magnetic parameters from powder EPR spectra was described. The efficiency and robustness of such hybrid approach were investigated as a function of the uncertainty range of the parameters, using simulated data sets. The discussed results demonstrate superior performance of the hybrid genetic algorithm in fitting of complex spectra in comparison to the common Monte Carlo method joint with the Powell refinement.

Quantum graphs provide a setting to test the hypothesis that all ray-chaotic systems show universal wave chaotic properties. Here, an experimental setup consisting of a microwave coaxial cable network is used to simulate quantum graphs. The networks which are large compared to the wavelength, are constructed from coaxial cables connected by T junctions. The distributions of impedance statistics are obtained from experiments on an ensemble of tetrahedral networks. The random coupling model (RCM) is applied in an attempt to uncover the universal statistical properties of the system. Deviations from RCM predictions have been observed in that the statistics of diagonal and off-diagonal impedance elements are different. It is argued that because of the small finite-size quantum graphs utilized here there will be non-universal results.

Opis:
Results of investigations of the angular correlation of annihilation radiation and positron annihilation lifetime measurements are presented for polyethylene-carbon black composites. The inhibition of positronium formation due to the carbon black introduction is evidenced by a decrease in intensities of the narrow component in angular correlation of annihilation radiation curves and of the longest-lived components in positron annihilation lifetime spectra. A qualitative interpretation of the data in terms of the free-volumes model is proposed.

Plasmon-enhanced photoluminescence of silicon nanocrystals embedded in silicon-rich oxinitride thin film is calculated using finite-difference time-domain simulations. Emitters are represented as point-like dipoles and the photoluminescence enhancement is calculated depending on the emitter's position and polarization with respect to the plasmonic metal nanoparticle placed on top of the layer. We show that the photoluminescence enhancement is dominated by the excitation enhancement even for tuning the metal nanoparticle size to the emission wavelength.

The article presents researches concerning a system for a possible blood volume measurements applied in POLVAD prosthesis. The proposed solution is based on the Helmholtz resonance principle. The article shows the state of art in blood volume sensors for using in the POLVAD prosthesis and introduces a newly proposed solution. The construction of the sensor and the results of static tests are presented. The work is summarized with future development plans.

Opis:
The paper deals with investigations concerning a wide-band gap material, viz. zinc oxide ZnO. Special attention has been devoted to the determination of the spectral transmission of zinc oxide layers deposited on quartz substrates. These investigations have made it possible to determine the optical spectral range in which this material is transparent as well as the edges of absorption. The presented investigations are valuable particularly concerning the application of zinc oxide in optoelectronic and photonic structures as well as in systems of waveguides and sensor layers of integrated optics.

Opis:
The authors of the presented paper deal with investigations concerning applications of the optical fiber sensor of the magnetic field in electric DC engines with permanent magnets. The aim of the sensor is to measure the state of magnetization of permanent magnets (basing on the measurements of magnetic field induction). The knowledge of the state of magnetization helps to decide whether permanent magnets need to be additionally magnetized in order to prevent damages of the whole engine. This can be done automatically, even when the engine is running. For the purpose the Faraday magnetooptic effect is used. The presented investigations concern an optical fiber sensor of the magnetic field provided with a glass rod characterized a high value of the Verdet constant as the sensing element. Thanks to the application of optical fibers the connection of the sensor head with the whole measuring system is constructed of insulating material without using of electrical connections.
