Opis:
Deuterated monoclinic RbD$\text{}_{2}$PO$\text{}_{4}$ (DRDP) doped with chromium Cr$\text{}^{5+}$ is studied by EPR in 90 K to 400 K temperature range. EPR reveals two types of paramagnetic centers: single Cr$\text{}^{5+}$ (S = 1/2) complex and Cr$\text{}^{5+}$-Cr$\text{}^{5+}$ coupled pairs with effective spin S = 1. The EPR line splitting of single Cr$\text{}^{5+}$ complex in DRDP versus temperature agrees with the unit cell multiplication. The splitting of EPR line of pair spectrum appears at T* = 160 K, far below the phase transition temperatures and is due to the anisotropy of the exchange interaction. The clustering effect in the low-dimensional DRDP is suggested.

Opis:
Raman light scattering with excitation of electron-hole continuum and a phonon is investigated theoretically. The effect of a surface and screening of the electron-photon coupling and of the deformation potential as a result of the Coulomb interaction of the electrons is taken into account. The parameters of the 340 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ resonance line in superconducting YBaCuO are estimated by comparing with experimental data.

Opis:
The effects on the evolution of coercivity (H_c) and brittleness in FINEMET-type precursor glasses during traditional (isothermal) and pulse heat treatments are compared. The time and temperature dependences of these quantities are monitored during the series of isothermal and pulse heat treatments. The activation energy for H_c relaxation is lower than that for the brittleness evolution, however, dramatic changes in the values of these quantities can be detected above 300°C. Both quantities change mainly with temperature, they are less time-dependent.

Opis:
The work concerns application of titanium-sapphire femtosecond laser oscillator with 82 MHz repetition rate at 800 nm in measurements of ultrafast magneto-optical and magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effects. Time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect pump-probe method was used in investigation of ultrafast precession of magnetization in Fe/Au multilayers. Magnetization precession frequency, obtained as a function of magnetic field applied, allows determining saturation magnetization and damping factor. The magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effect has been used for study of garnet films. This method allows to determine crystallographic symmetry and hysteresis loops in an external magnetic field at 2 ω laser induced frequency. The simultaneous measurements of linear and second order magneto-optical effects enable to investigate magnetic interfaces in the studied structures.

Opis:
We present a time-resolved study of the light emission of a CdTe-based microcavity. In the nonlinear regime, under high excitation conditions, in the strong coupling regime, we observe pronounced beats of the intensity of the photoluminescence arising from the bottleneck region of the exciton-polariton band. These beats are very sensitive to the excitation density and vanish under weak pumping conditions. We attribute the beats to a new nonlinear coupling mechanism of optically active and dark crystal states, related to polariton-polariton scattering, which leads to mixing between bright and dark states.

Opis:
In this study the determinations of melt quality was carried out by thermal analysis of ductile iron. The aim of the study was to determine the limits of feederless casting after the determination of inoculation quality in cast iron. Production method of pouring into a sand mold in the entirety and without using feeder systems has been investigated. Forms of the solidification and volume change have been investigated with simulation program as functions of inoculation quality, type of resin in the mold and mold rigidity. Results of the analysis have been compared with the results of experimental iron casting.

Opis:
High-pressure die casting offers reduced costs due to its small tolerances and smooth surface finish. Casting parts produced are consumed by the automotive industry in millions. In this study, the use of computer aided engineering applications on design of high-pressure die-casting was studied. The influence of casting process steps in die design was studied and analyzed. The casting simulation software was used to improve design and solve problems. By using the simulation software in analyses of die design, the final design was reached in a few hours and thus the design process of pre-production was shortened and mold production was carried out with no revision on die material. Radiographic test was applied on the casting parts and the result shows good correlation between simulations of solidification result data. Also the results proved that the application of squeeze pressure in the intensification phase of high-pressure die casting process could be examined in the casting simulation.

The magnetization processes can be effectively studied using magnetization-induced second-harmonic generation effect (MSHG). The aim of the current work is the investigation of inhomogeneous magnetization distributions induced in the surface area of the garnet film by ion implantation. The studies were performed on magnetic garnet film of (111) symmetry, implanted with H⁺₂ ions of 1.5 × 10¹⁶ cm¯² dose and 60 keV energy. The measurements of MSHG effect were performed as a function of the sample rotation angle and the amplitude of external magnetic field. The observed MSHG intensity hystereses were subjected to a decomposition procedure into contributions having different magnetic field dependences. The contributions originating from the implanted and unimplanted parts of the film volume of different magnetic ordering were analyzed and discussed.

Using the straightforward coupled-mode theory, the parametric amplification is analytically investigated in magnetized piezoelectric as well as non-piezoelectric semiconductors. The origin of nonlinear interaction is taken to be in the second-order optical susceptibility χ$\text{}^{(2)}$ arising from the nonlinear induced current density. The threshold value of the pump electric field E$\text{}_{0th}$ is obtained for crystals. E$\text{}_{0th}$ is found to decrease with the rise in magnetic field and fall with the rise in scattering angle. Parametric gain constants are obtained for different situations of practical interest, i.e. (i) for piezoelectric coupling only g$\text{}_{p}$, (ii) for deformation potential coupling only g$\text{}_{d}$, (iii) for both the couplings g$\text{}_{b}$. Numerical investigations reveal that the magnetic field increases the gain. Maximum gains are obtained for backward scattered mode. g$\text{}_{d}$ is always found to be less than g$\text{}_{p}$ and g$\text{}_{b}$. It is also found that g$\text{}_{p}$ and g$\text{}_{b}$ both are identical up to k ≈ x 10$\text{}^{7}$m$\text{}^{-1}$ and for k ≥ 3 x 10$\text{}^{7}$m$\text{}^{-1}$, g$\text{}_{b}$ exceeds g$\text{}_{p}$.

Opis:
Three stages of thermal and chemical processing of Vycor glass were carried out. Raw material, the glass with small and big pores was studied. In each stage of study various crystallinity degrees of investigated material were obtained. The relation between crystallinity degree and the intensity of o-Ps components was determined. In nonporous material a high correlation between o-Ps intensity and crystallinity degree was found. In porous material the decrease in total o-Ps intensity can be a measure of the crystallinity degree.

Opis:
Effect of intensive interlevel transitions in quantum well and strong spin-orbit interaction on weak localization is considered. Anomalous magnetoresistance in classically weak fields is calculated for p-type quantum wells based on A$\text{}_{3}$B$\text{}_{5}$ semiconductors. It is shown that the sign of magnetoresistance changes with varying doping level and the role of the intersubband transitions in weak localization effects depends dramatically on a view of the scattering potential.

We report on the electronic structure of hybrid heterostructure combined the ferromagnetic double perovskite Sr₂CrReO₆ (SCRO) and ferroelectric BaTiO₃ (BTO) calculated in the GGA approach using the fully relativistic spin-polarized Dirac LMTO method. The optical and MO properties as well as the X-ray absorption spectra and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the Ti, Ba, and Re L_{2,3} edges and O K edges of the SCRO/BTO heterostructures were investigated theoretically from the first principles. It was shown that the calculations reproduce well available experimental spectra and allow to explain the microscopic origin of the SCRO/BTO heterostructures optical, MO and XMCD spectra.

$Nd_{2}Ni_{2}In$ is an antiferromagnet ($T_{N}$=8 K) with crystal structure equivalent to the Shastry-Sutherland lattice, possibly leading to the magnetic frustration. The AF coupling with moments in the basal plane can be driven by weak magnetic fields (<0.2 T) into the c-axis ferromagnet. The situation leads to large changes of magnetic entropy in fields below 1 T, which makes $Nd_{2}Ni_{2}In$ a candidate for magnetocaloric applications. The entropy change is 9.6 J/(kg K) in fields of 1 T.

Two Vycor glasses of different percentages of the components were liquated between 725 K and 950 K and leached in order to produce pores. Little intermolecular voids characterized by ortho-positronium lifetime valueτ$\text{}_{2}$≈1.5 ns were observed simultaneously. At the first stage of pore formation the intensity I$\text{}_{2}$ decreased considerably for both glasses, while at liquation temperatures higher than 825 K it increased again. The increase in I$\text{}_{2}$ resulted from changes in the properties of the bulk material. The growth ofτ$\text{}_{2}$ in this range of temperatures was also observed.
