Opis:
Administrative decisions, related to the selection of the priority of activities minimising acoustic effects in the analysed areas, are determined by the index M values. This index is also known as the noise protection agents demand. A form of its function is determined by variables describing the number of residents and the level of exceeding the permissible noise in these inhabited regions. Uncertainty of decisions resulting from such assessments is conditioned by numerical measures: inaccurate measurements of exceeding permissible noise indicators as well as errors in the estimation of the number of residents exposed to them, formulated in probabilistic categories and interpreted in an interval way. Thus, the uncertainty assessment of index M, being the function determined by means of those variables, requires the determination of the density of probability distribution function of its occurrence. The method of its determination constitutes the contents of the presented hereby paper. The study concentrates on the derivation of the density of probability distribution function of index M, at the assumption that the distribution of variable errors is in a form of the normal cut distribution. The computational algorithm, allowing to perform necessary numerical calculations assigned to the uncertainty assessment process of index M, is presented. The obtained results are illustrated by the example.

The present paper describes a comparison of magnetic properties of $Nd_{12}Fe_{82}B_6$ and $Nd_{14}Fe_{80}B_6$ powders obtained by a new method of processing of Nd-Fe-B powders - high temperature milling. In this method the milling operation is carried out, entirely or only in the final stage, at high temperatures, so that the destruction of the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phase and its recombination occur simultaneously. In this way a powder with good magnetic properties immediately after milling was obtained. In the present experiments, the powder was subjected to high-energy milling for 17 h (until the material becomes amorphous) and then, the milling was continued for 0.5 h with the powder container being heated to an appropriate temperature or milled at high temperature during whole time of the process. Diffraction examinations have shown that the powder processed in this way contains the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phase. Its magnetic properties appear to depend on the applied temperature or milling time (at optimum temperature). The used method of processing leads to obtaining high-coercivity Nd-Fe-B powders. The magnetic properties of the material thus produced, in particular its coercivity, strongly depend on the milling temperature and milling time.

The problem of estimation of the environmental noise hazard indicators and their uncertainty is presented in the hereby paper. The main attention is focused on the estimation process of the long-term noise indicators and their type A standard uncertainty defined by the standard deviation of the mean of the measurement results. The rules given in the ISO/IEC Guide 98 are used in the calculations. It is usually determined by means of the classic variance estimators, at the assumption of the normality of measurements results. However, such assumption in relation to the acoustic measurements is rather questionable. This is the reason that the authors indicated the necessity of implementation of non-classic statistic solutions. There was formulated the estimation idea of seeking density function of long-term noise indicators distribution by the Bayesian inference, which does not generate limitations for form and properties of analyzed statistics. There was presented theoretical basis of the proposed method, and the example of calculation process which make possible determining searched estimators of expected value and variance of long-term noise indicators $L_{DEN}$ and $L_{N}$. The illustration for indicated solutions and usefulness analysis was constant monitoring results of traffic noise recorded on one of the main arteries of Kraków, Poland.

The limiting partial molar volumes and isentropic compressibilities of 2-methylpyridine and 2,6-dimethylpyridine in aqueous and methanolic solutions were calculated from the densities and speeds of sound at 293.15 and 298.15 K. All the limiting functions are smaller than the respective functions for the pure amines, due to the hydrogen bonds O-H... N between the amine molecules and those of water or methanol. The standard functions of transfer of the amines from methanol to water are negative which results from different nature of interactions in the aqueous and methanolic solutions. Most probably, the hydrophobic effect contributes to the limiting partial volumes and compressibilities of the amines diluted in water. That makes them smaller than the respective functions for the amines in methanol.

Opis:
This study is dedicated to the problem of estimating uncertainties of long-term noise indicators, when differences in the sound level emission at various time periods of the calendar year are taken into consideration. This task is defined by referring their influence values - in the determined time intervals - to the year period. Due to the limited possibilities of a total monitoring of parameters necessary for the precise estimation of the long-term sound levels, this estimation process is often limited (in accordance with the EU environmental recommendations) to two condition classes. They are defined by two sound levels occurring with probabilities (frequencies) p and 1-p, in the analyzed reference period. In this paper we present a method of calculating uncertainties of this procedure assuming that frequency of determined events are known. The probability distribution for the estimated value was assessed. The developed model formalism of the estimation of uncertainties of long-term sound levels together with algorithms assigned to it, was analyzed. The proposed solution was illustrated by examples of uncertainty calculations of the averaged sound levels in acoustic assessments of environmental hazards.

Opis:
This work is devoted to a study of the structural changes in a single crystal of ammonium nitrate, NH$\text{}_{4}$NO$\text{}_{3}$, doped with copper(II) cations by electron paramagnetic resonance. Ammonium nitrate crystallizes at atmospheric pressure in several polymorphic forms, phase VII → V → IV → III → II → I → melt, with transition temperatures of 103 K, 255 K, 305 K, 357 K, 398 K, and 443 K, respectively. The aim of our work was to study the temperature phase transition V → IV at about 255 K using electron paramagnetic resonance technique. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra were performed using an X-band spectrometer with microwave frequency of 9.4 GHz and magnetic modulation of 100 kHz in the temperature range of 153-296 K. For a single crystal the angular dependence of the copper(II) electron paramagnetic resonance spectra was measured at 293 K and 168 K. The anisotropic behaviour measured at 293 K points to the existence of one kind of two equivalent copper(II) complexes with inverse g and A tensors. A second pair of equivalent complexes also with inverse g and A tensors was observed. The minimal values of g-factors correspond to the maximum values of A. The angular dependence taken at 168 K shows the existence of two types of non-equivalent copper complexes which differ in comparison with the complexes observed at room temperature. The temperature dependence of the intensities of hyperfine structure lines for all copper(II) complexes observed shows a phase transition V → IV occurring in the temperature range of 237-246 K with a hysteresis. One of the hyperfine structure lines of a copper(II) complex measured at low temperatures shows a superhyperfine structure with line intensities 1:2:3:2:1 originating from the interaction of the copper $\text{}^{63,65}$Cu (I=3/2) nucleus with two $\text{}^{14}$N (I = 1) nuclei of two ammonia, NH$\text{}_{3}$, ligand molecules.

We present absorption measurements of a pseudomorphic Zn$\text{}_{0.75}$Cd$\text{}_{0.25}$Se/ZnSe superlattice and a Zn$\text{}_{0.91}$Cd$\text{}_{0.09}$ Se/ZnSe single quantum well under high hydrostatic pressure applied by a diamond anvil cell. Excitonic transitions as 1s-heavy hole and 1s-light hole between the first bound states or minibands as well as transitions in the buffer material are visible. Transition energies are well understood by calculations of the band structure near Γ. The observed energy distance between photoluminescence and hh-absorption signal gives information on exciton localization. Whereas this distance is nearly pressure independent in the buffer, there is a significant increase at pressures P > 5 GPa for quantum structures.

In this work interdiffusion and strain relaxation in In$\text{}_{0.2}$Ga$\text{}_{0.8}$As/GaAs single quantum wells subjected to rapid thermal annealing have been studied using photoluminescence and Rutherford backscattering of 1.5 MeV He$\text{}^{+}$ ions. It has been found that the diffusion coefficient of In atoms in GaAs, evaluated from the photoluminescence spectra for the assumed Gaussian well shapes, agrees within 30% with that obtained using Rutherford backscattering. Channeling angular scans, through the ⟨110⟩ axial direction of the heterostructures indicate that strain relaxation in the intermixed wells is exclusively due to compositional shallowing of the wells.
