Opis:
Fabrication and characterization of highly efficient organic light-emitting diode with surface modification of indium tin oxide anodes by using self-assembled monolayer technique have been studied. Four different self-assembled molecules, K-28 ruthenium complex, octadecylamine hydrochloride, octadecyltrichlorosilane and mercaptohexdecanoic acid are used to modify ITO surface to improve the interface properties. Space charge limited currents measurements have been used to evaluate carrier mobility under steady state current. The results show that the surface properties such as the stability of ITO anode layer have significant effects on charge injection in organic light-emitting diode devices.

Opis:
In order to understand the electronic properties of the organic Schottky diode, ITO/TPD/Al and ITO/SAM/TPD/Al organic Schottky devices were fabricated to obtain current-voltage characteristics. From the slopes and y-axis intercepts of the plots, the values of the ideality factor, barrier heights of the ITO/SAM/TPD/Al diode were determined as 2.03 and 0.56 eV, respectively. The surface characterizations of modified and unmodified ITO were performed via atomic force microscopy.

In this work, sol-gel method was used in order to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles. $Zn(CH_3COO)_2$·$2H_2O$ was used to obtain ZnO precursor solution. To investigate the effect of organic gelating agents on grain size, various organic gelating agents such as triethanolamine (TEA), glycerin (GLY), ethylene glycol (EG), citric acid (CA) and tartaric acid (TA) were used. X-ray diffraction analysis was used for phase identification and grain size calculation. ZnO powders were characterized by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.

Tin dioxide nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method and calcined at different temperatures in the range 350-750°C. The $SnO_2$ precursor solution was prepared from $SnCl_2$·$2H_2O$ (tin (II) chloride dihydrate), and chloride ions were removed from the solution before the sol-gel synthesis was applied. $SnO_2$ powders were characterized by thermal analyses, X-ray diffraction, field emission gun-scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and grain size of nanoparticles were determined by using the Debye-Scherrer formula.

The aim of this study was to fabricate 30 wt.% AlB₂/Al-Cu composites using in-situ casting processes and to investigate the corrosion behavior of the composites and of the matrix material in various media. The electrochemical parameters were obtained from potentiodynamic polarization curves. The composites were prepared by liquid reaction of aluminum matrix with boron oxide at 1400°C. The results show that the corrosion resistance of the composite was higher than that of the matrix in selected corrosion media. The anodic corrosion current density values were decreased by reinforcing AlB₂ particles.

Sol-gel technique was employed to prepare semiconductor tin dioxide $(SnO_2)$ thin films. Comparatively, it gives an advantage over other techniques by its low reaction temperature, easy process and low cost. The effect of glycerin addition on the structure and preventing crack formation has been investigated. Scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis were performed to characterize nanostructured films.

The effect of the $Al_2O_3$ coating on the charge-discharge cycling performance of spinel powder ($LiMn_2O_4$) was investigated in the range of 3.5-4.5 V at 1C. The $Al_2O_3$ coating on the surface of the spinel powder was carried out using the solution method, followed by 500C for 6 h in air. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the $Al_2O_3$-coated spinel $LiMn_2O_4$ showed that the $Al_2O_3$ coating medium was not incorporated in the spinel bulk structure. Scanning electron microscopy results showed that the $Al_2O_3$ coating particles were homogeneously distributed on the surface of $LiMn_2O_4$ powder particles. The $Al_2O_3$-coated $LiMn_2O_4$ retained 92.3% of its original capacity after 30 cycles, showing much better cycle ability than the bare lithium manganese oxide. The improvement of electrochemical performance is attributed to suppression of $Mn^{2+}$ dissolution into electrolyte via $Al_2O_3$ layer.

Physical phenomena and the nature of materials require both qualitative and quantitative research to be understood thoroughly. This process often necessitates the use of complicated and expensive equipments. Also in electrical-electronics discipline, especially the nature of semiconductor materials and the behavior of them have a special place. In engineering education, it is often more important for undergraduates to understand the behavior of material and the results of that at the basic level. For this purpose it is sufficient to analyze semiconductor materials with interactive software unlike physics scholars who apply mostly physically to analyze. Understanding the physical properties of applied materials and digitalizing the characteristics of these materials by coding in programming environment maintain its importance. In this context, designing of interactive programs to analyze physical phenomena in electrical-electronics engineering without the need for licensed software has been presented. For this purpose, some semiconductor phenomena involved with electronics engineering have been selected as a pilot and web based 3D Java graphic AWT applications have been designed.

In order to improve the cycling performance of $LiMn_2O_4$, the spinel phases base and multiple cation doped $LiMn_{1.95}Al_{0.0125}Si_{0.0125}Ti_{0.0125}Co_{0.0125}O_4$, $LiMn_{1.9}Al_{0.025}Si_{0.025}Ti_{0.025}Co_{0.025}O_4$ spinels were synthesized by the glycine-nitrate combustion process. The structures of the products were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical tests.
