Opis:
Aim. Our main purpose is  to explain the connection between the work and the intimate existence of Søren Kierkegaard, and how freedom operates in both of them.  Concept. The article makes visible new writing ways that open from within Kierkegaard's work. Analytical reading of Kierkegaard's Journals and the comparative interpretation of the rest of Kierkegaard's work in terms of communicative styles and explains the genesis and location and type of communication of the Journals within the framework of the Kierkegaardian Corpus.   Results.  Kierkegaard’s philosophy is present and indicates the extremely personal place in which the author possessed its work.   Conclusions. We conclude the unavoidable importance of the Journals for the interpretation of Kierkegaard's work. The reason why the Journals are for Kierkegaard's „The Book of the Judge” lies in the direct, personal and intimate communication of its writing. Existence as free and self-conscious action constitutes the core of the article. On it rests the personal development of the individual and the incommensurable value of his life and work.

The article analyses the question of man ́s despair. In his book The Sickness Unto Death Kierkegaard discusses despair and looks at it from several angles. In his opinion despair is a crisis of identity, it is a sin, it means turning away from God. Kierkegaard believes there are several levels of despair which follow one another and with each level the sin grows. Kierkegaard ́s assertion is based on the assump- tion that despair is a sin which is just the opposite of faith. The present paper is an attempt to describe Kierkegaard ́s categorisation of human despair in more detail. With respect to difficult crisis of hu- man identity, which still persists, we deem Kierkegaard ́s analysis very topical from the viewpoint of theology as well as from the viewpoint of philosophy.

The main subject of this paper is the influence of Kierkegaard's philosophy on the concept of Adorno's dialectics. This article is focused on the analysis of Adorno's work published in 1966 titled Negative Dialec-tics. Adomo 's concept of dialectics, which is based on undefined experience, is broadly similar to the "negative" concept of existential philosophy of Kierkegaard. Although Adomo uses the Hegelian dialectics to expose the ways in which Kierkegaard’s thoughts fali into idealism. Finally, Adomo adopts Kierkegaard’s criticism of Hegelian identity of thinking. Adomo, in Negative Dialectics refers to Kant, Hegel Heidegger, but seldom to Kierkegaard. A careful analysis shows that a number of themes and concepts of its predecessor have been assimilated to his philosophy.

The article presents the category of possibility, inferred from Kierkegaard’s works as one of primary for him. Contexts, responsible for both the typology of the concept, as well as an extension of its semantics and hermeneutical capabilities, situate at the same time the notion of possibility within the limits of modern and contemporary reflection on culture. The philosophical and theological existence of possibility as a basis for subjective recognition of the world of category culture, finally leads to the anthropological approach, in which the choice of will is being contrasted with externally interpreted histories and philosophies recognized in the spirit of historical Hegelianism. Reflections on the ‘opportunity’ define and expand the concept itself, and in a way they also affect the individualistic figure of the philosopher-writer, whom turns out to be Kiekegaard. They bring out the specificities not only in the field of writing, but also polemics and dialogue. Having allowed us to understand the polemical nature of the notion of possibility, he shows culture – not only romantic and incoherent, but also contemporary, full of possibility, based on the choice of the path belonging to an entity participating in culture (believing, philosophizing, writing, operating, communicating with others).

Amelia Hertz still is an unfamiliar play wright. Recently the papers on her works are being released more often. Researchers do not take an interest in the relation of man towards God, though. This relation is a crucial element of her dramas. The importance of this theme is presented by the very structure of respective works. Zburzenie Tyru is a staging of biblical events. Yseult o Białych Dłoniach is structured like a confession. The events of Wielki król are motivated by a constant fear of the Wrath of God, who will inflict justice upon Byzantium. The ultimate defeat of the heroes is summarised with the words Because only God is eternal. The main characters of the dramas in their relation towards God correspond to the Kierkegaard’s typology: the aesthetical man, the ethical man and the religious man. Hertz uses Kierkegaard’s philosophy Either/Or, showing different variants of the same story and what are the consequences of making decisions.

Spiritlessness. Reflections on the topicality of Søren Kierkegaard’s construction of the self in the field of tension between immanence and transcendence: One of the most suggestive and provocative concepts developed by the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard is the concept of “spiritlessness”. Spiritlessness is conceived of as a state of mind which cuts out transcendent possibilities at the benefice of reduced immanent probabilities and thus hinders the individual to become a true Self. The present paper asks for the topicality of Kierkegaard’s dialectics of “spirit” and “spiritlessness” for the constitution of the Self in the 21st cntury.

Depression is not a popular philosophical problem, despite the fact that it is one of the most frequent psychopathologies nowadays. The aim of the article is to consider the problem of depression as a philosophical one in terms of Cheshire Calhoun’s analytic work on depression and S.ren Kierkegaard’s philosophy of despair and anxiety. The author shows that the state of depression is connected to the sick man’s failure to be a living being due to the process that Calhoun calls “the defeat of an agency”. Calhoun claims that a man stops to be an active person because his will is disengaged due to his feeling of estrangement from his normative outlook of self-conception, his disbelief in the effectiveness of instrumental reasoning and lack of confidence in one’s security from misfortune and harm. The permanent state of this defeat leads to being disengaged from one’s very roots of being a motivated person. At this point living the being is opened to despair and anxiety, which are the means of creating a state of being as a “defeated agency”. The analysis of Kierkegaard’s work brings a new perspective of depression. A depressed person is one who is possessed by despair and anxiety. The analysis of different forms of despair and anxiety bring new light to the process of becoming depressed. It shows that the depressed person is in a permanent state of being “cut off” from life. This perspective leads to the conclusion that depression could be seen as Kierkegaard’s „Sickness Unto Death”.

Aim. In his Kierkegaardian studies Jean Wahl states that there is a fundamental convergence between Plato and Søren Kierkegaard focused on the notions of identity and difference. Wahl suggests a sort of transposition of platonic metaphysics into the sphere of personal subjectivity. This paper intends to explain this passage from the same to the other from Plato to Kierkegaard. Concept. The article explains the passage from the same to the other from Plato to Kierkegaard. In both authors, the categories of being or not being, identity and difference, unity and multiplicity, becoming and rest explain the dynamic nature of the real. Results and conclusion. In both authors, the categories mensioned above explain the dynamic nature of the real. But while Plato applies these categories to the inteligibile word, Kierkegaard applies them to individual freedom, which supports reality as a whole. Cognitive value. Both searches lead to a single speculative answer and culminate in the same metaphysical categorisation, which applies analogously to everything real. Indeed, being and non-being, identity and difference, oneness and otherness, rest and becoming, explain the dialectic, intensive and relational dynamism of entia. At the same time, they essentially determine the power of human existence, infinitely possible and forever depending on the absolute.

This article concerns events of the Old Testament – Yahweh commands Abraham to sacrifice his only son – Isaac – on Mount Moriah. This passage from the Old Testament, from the Book of Genesis, became the basis of Søren Kierkegaard’s considerations in Fear and Trembling. In the text I refer to, on the one hand, Kierkegaard’s considerations, while on the other hand I try to identify other possible interpretive tropes that could be useful, for example, during classes on the subject of faith or the status of ethical dilemmas in the modern world.

The aim of this article is to develop a postmetaphysical conception of reading by following Kierkegaard’s Either/Or Part I (1843) through such Derridian concepts as secret, hospitality, and spectrality. The work focuses on the three essays addressed to the Symparanekromenoi (“the community of the dead”), a fellowship neither young nor old with an aphoristic way of life (2010b: 137-225) that can be understood as a figure of alterity. Special attention is paid to paratextual features of the book: the texts are actually presented as old papers found in a secretary desk by a pseudonymous editor (“Victor Eremita”), which suggests that every text is a posthumous paper, that is to say, it will always be read after the death of its author. Instead of finding a solid author who holds the semantic weight of the text, these papers are based in a blank of sense, a specter, a secret: if they are sustained on its author, then they are sustained in a mystery, not in a sort of revelation of meaning.

Thesis. The aim of the paper is to interpret Kierkegaard's concept of repetition as a way of creating and experiencing authentic existence in an environment that is set up to repeat this same, inauthentic content of consciousness. Concept. Repetition is associated with determinism and represents social stagnation. Repetition creates the conditions for an inauthentic existence. The article offers an interpretation of Kierkegaard's concept of repetition, which is the repetition of another and produces authentic existence. Results and conclusions. Repetition automatically produces of the same. The repetition of one's choice of oneself is a process of creating spirit and individuality, which is a fundamental principle of authentic existence. Creating an authentic personality is one of the ways to solve the current crisis in society, which is associated with an inauthentic experience of existence, abdication of responsibility and repetition of lies. Cognitive value. The postmodern society associated with the use of the media is not the cause of social disorientation. It is a means that an individual uses to repeat the same. The social environment and magic themselves are not negative, the negative is the inauthentic attitude of a person to them.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie syntetycznego uporządkowania zawartej w późnych pismach Kierkegaarda krytyki oficjalnego chrześcijaństwa, czyli tego, co w świecie funkcjonuje pod nazwą „chrześcijaństwo”, a co w rzeczywistości zdaniem Duńczyka nim nie jest. Artykuł otwiera zarys niezbędnej dla zrozumienia tej krytyki pozytywnej koncepcji chrześcijaństwa u Kierkegaarda, w szczególności jego idei naśladowania Chrystusa. Dalej omówione są trzy główne zarzuty, jakie wysuwa Duńczyk: (1) prowadzenie pogańskiego życia pod nazwą chrześcijaństwa, (2) zastąpienie naśladowania Chrystusa rozmaitymi aktywnościami werbalnymi, m.in. uczynienie z chrześcijaństwa doktryny, oraz (3) zastąpienie naśladowania Chrystusa oddawaniem mu czci. Te trzy zarzuty uzupełnione są (4) Kierkegaardowską krytyką stanu duchownego. W końcowej części zostaje postawiona teza, że przedstawiona przez Kierkegaarda krytyka ma charakter uniwersalny, tzn. dotyczy wszystkich głównych wyznań chrześcijańskich.
The paper aims at presenting a synthetic reconstruction of Kierkegaard’s late critique of what he called “official Christianity,” that is that which in the world counts as Christianity but which, according to Kierkegaard, has nothing to do with real Christianity. The paper begins with a short presentation of what according to Kierkegaard the essence of real Christianity is, with special emphasis on his idea of imitating Christ. Then his main reproaches follow: (1) leading a pagan life and calling it Christian, (2) rejection of imitation of Christ and putting some verbal activities instead, and (3) rejection of imitation of Christ and worshiping him instead. Those three points are supplemented by Kierkegaardian (4) critique of clergy. In the final section it is argued that Kierkegaard’s critique is universal in scope, i.e. it concerns all major Christian denominations.

Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest kluczowy fragment Lwa Tołstoja filozofii religii, mianowicie jego koncepcja tego, czym w istocie jest religia. Analiza prac tego autora pokazuje, że przedstawił on dwie częściowo różne definicje: pierwszą, zgodnie z którą religia jest to ogólna praktyczna relacja jednostki do świata, oraz drugą, zgodnie z którą religia jest pewnym konkretnym stosunkiem do świata, mianowicie takim, w którym jednostka wykracza poza jednostkowe i grupowe ograniczenia i dąży zharmonizowania swojego życia z całością życia świata. Tekst przedstawia rekonstrukcję i analizę tych dwóch definicji, pokazując, że są one wersjami pewnej ogólniejszej, praktycystycznej koncepcji religii, jak również zestawia ewolucję poglądów Lwa Tołstoja z filozofią Sørena Kierkegaarda.
The present paper deals with the crucial element of Leo Tolstoy’s philosophy of religion, namely his conception of religion. A survey of his philosophical works shows that he presented partially different definitions: according to the first, religion is a general practical relationship of an individual to the world, and according to the second, it is a concrete attitude towards the world, namely one in which an individual goes beyond boundaries of her individual and communal identity, and tries to harmonize her life with the life of the whole world. The paper presents a reconstruction and analysis of both definitions, showing that they are versions of a broader, practicist conception of religion, and confronts Leo Tolstoy’s evolution with the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard.

In this paper I will give some provisional answers to the questions how one can be a Christian philosopher rather than just a philosopher who happens to be a Christian, how one can be a Reformation philosopher rather than just a Christian philosopher whohappens to be a Reformation Christian, and how one can be a Baptist philosopher rather than just a Reformation philosopher who happens to be a Baptist. A good way to be a philosopher is to, like Socrates, seek wisdom concerning spiritual good. A good wayto be a specifically Christian philosopher is to, like Augustine, seek that wisdom in Jesus Christ. A good way to be a specifically Reformation philosopher is to recognize and reflect on a distinction between two inseparable spiritual goods on which we are seeking wisdom: justification and sanctification. A good way to be a specifically Baptist philosopher, taking some inspiration from the likes of Locke and Kierkegaard, is to also recognize and reflect on some signs of these spiritual goods which Baptists emphasize: resistance to the idea of a state church and believer’s baptism.

‘Transcendence’ has been a key subject of Western philosophy of religion and history of ideas. The meaning of transcendence, however, has changed over time. The article looks at some perspectives o ered by the nineteenth and the twentieth century Anglo‐American and con‐ tinental European philosophers of religion and presents their views in relation to the concept of transcendence formulated by the Bengali Hindu traditionalist Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati (1874–1937). The questions raised are what transcendence in the philosophy of religion is, how one can speak of it, and what its goal is. The paper points to parallels and di erences in epistemology, ontology and practice. One di erence is that the nineteenth and the twentieth century Western philosophy of religion tended to assume an ontological di erence between self and transcendence inherited om personalities such as Søren Kierkegaard, but also to explore the concept of transcendence beyond the idea of a metaphysical God. Bhaktisiddhanta, whose foundational thought mirrors medieval Hindu philosophy of religion and the theistic schools of Vedānta, suggests that transcendence has a metaphysical and personal dimension that is to some degree ontologically similar to and directly knowable by the self. Bhaktisid‐ dhanta’s approach to transcendence di ers om Kierkegaard’s and other Western philosophers’ and revolves around the idea of God as a transcendent person that can be directly known mor‐ phologically and ontologically through devotion. The article is a contribution to the history of ideas and the philosophy of religion in Eurasia and beyond.
