The linear-phase IIR filters are described in many cases, mainly due to distortion-free transmission of signals. One of the major problems of IIR filter design is stability, which can be obtained with suitable value of group delay τ This paper concerns calculation of filter order Ν and group delay τ in case of quasi-equiripple design of IIR filters. We propose a novel procedure for determining N and τ values; the procedure is valid for all types of filters with arbitrary number of zeros and a few non-zero poles. Evaluation of the proposed approach as well as examples illustrating its application are provided in the paper.

Opis:
The aim of the work is to present the method for designing sparse FIR filters with very low group delay and approximately linear-phase in the passband. Significant reduction of the group delay, e.g. several times in relation to the linear phase filter, may cause the occurrence of undesirable overshoot in the magnitude frequency response. The method proposed in this work consists of two stages. In the first stage, FIR filter with low group delay is designed using minimax constrained optimization that provides overshoot elimination. In the second stage, the same process is applied iteratively to reach sparse solution. Design examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The simple digital filters are not sufficient for digital modeling of systems with distributed parameters. It is necessary to apply more complex digital filters. In this work, a set of filters, called the digital function filters, is proposed. It consists of digital filters, which are obtained from causal and stable filters through some function transformation. In this paper, for several basic functions: exponential, logarithm, square root and the real power of input filter, the recursive algorithms of the digital function filters have been determined The digital function filters of exponential type can be obtained from direct recursive formulas. Whereas, the other function filters, such as the logarithm, the square root and the real power, require using the implicit recursive formulas. Some applications of the digital function filters for the analysis and synthesis of systems with lumped and distributed parameters (a long line, phase shifters, infinite ladder circuits) are given as well.

The main goals of this paper are an analysis and a simulation of selected basic structures of active EMI filters. The first part contains a presentation of selected structures of active filters, along with categorization by their properties in the field of detection and compensation of EMI noise and by the kind of feedback. Each structure's description is accompanied by an analytical discussion of their properties such as insertion loss (IL) and the impedance increase (ΔZ>sub>n). The second part contains results of simulations of the presented structures, with the aim being a comparison of their characteristics and determining proper operation conditions.

W pracy przedstawiono stanowisko do badania filtrów analogowych. Zaproponowano rozwiązanie software’owe wspomagające analizę uzyskiwanych wyników, a także pokazano wyniki charakterystyki sygnału dla wybranych ustawień zaprojektowanych wcześniej filtrów analogowych. Dokonano interpretacji uzyskanych wyników, a także przedstawiono wnioski wynikające z tej interpretacji.
The paper presents a laboratory station for testing analog filters. A software solution, which is responsible for supporting the analysis of obtained results, was proposed. It is shown results of signal characteristics for selected settings of previously designed analog filters. The obtained results were interpreted and lead to conclusions.

This paper presents a reconfigurable and programmable analogue low pass filter for low voltage wireless applications. The proposed filter may be used for channel or band selection in multi-mode receiver front ends employing direct frequency conversion. The circuit has been synthesized using state variables and leapfrog OTA-C techniques, features programmable order, digitally variable frequency parameters and wide linear range. The fundamental OTA cell has been implemented with fully balanced second-generation current conveyors, suitable for operating with low supply voltages. Transistor level simulations based on a 180 nm digital CMOS technology have demonstrated the functionality of the design.

Underwater acoustic channels are characterized by multipath phenomenon whose characteristics are time varying. Multipath propagation contributes to signal fading, and causes intersymbol interference (ISI) in a digital communication system. Raised cosine filters are widely used in wireless communication systems and the effects of these filters are crucial to wireless communication systems, for example underwater communication systems. Pulse shaping filters are commonly used in digital data communication systems to limit intersymbol interference. Thus, digital filters have been recognized as primary digital signal processing operation. In order to apply DSP algorithms to wireless communication systems high density Field Programmable Gate Arrays have recently emerged as ideal implementation platforms for digital filters due to its potential speed and flexibility. This paper presents the design and implementation of FIR filters using FPGA technology. The following architectures of filters are studied: multiply and accumulate (MAC) standard FIR filter, parallel transposed FIR filter, and direct-form filter using Distributed Arithmetic (DA). The proposed filters have been designed and synthesized with ISE software, and implemented with a Virtex-II FPGA device.

We consider two situations which relate properties of filters with properties of the limit operators with respect to these filters. In the first one, we show that the space of sequences having limits with respect to a $Π^0_3$ filter is itself $Π^0_3$ and therefore, by a result of Dobrowolski and Marciszewski, such spaces are topologically indistinguishable. This answers a question of Dobrowolski and Marciszewski. In the second one, we characterize universally measurable filters which fulfill Fatou's lemma.

A movement analysis of objects contained in visual scenes can be performed by means of linear multidimensional filters, which have already been analyzed in the past. While the soundness of the results was convincing, interest in those systems declined due to the limited computational power of contemporary computers. Recent advances in design and implementation of integrated circuits and hardware architectures allow realizing velocity filters if the n-D system is carefully adapted to the analyzed problem. In this paper, the fundamental principles of visual scene analysis by linear multidimensional filters are examined with respect to possible sources of degradation. The extraction of movement information and its practical use are demonstrated using a wave digital filter (WDF) implementation.

The article presents an investigation of the harmonic level and its possible reduction methods for one of the Michelin factory transformer substation. The substation electrical network consists of two transformers (1.6 MVA and 2.0 MVA) supplying a production line composed of several electrical equipment based on DC and AC motors. In order to investigate the harmonics level and its influence on the substation operation the measurements of the current and the load factor of the powered machines as well as the coefficients THDu, THDi, Du and Di have been performed using the 3-phase energy quality analyzer Fluke 435II and the network parameter recorder PEL103. Basing on the measurements data the four harmonics reduction methods (passive filters, active filters, 12-pulse rectifier and the Active Front End system) have been proposed and studied. For this purpose the substation electrical network has been modelled using Emerson Harmonics Estymator software. Furthermore, in order to choose the optimal solution the financial analysis of the potential investments has been performed.

Badano zanurzeniowe filtry membranowe wykorzystujące napór nadawy jako siłę napędową procesu. Filtry takie nie wymagają obudowy ciśnieniowej. Badano moduły zawierające 342 kapilary membranowe o długości czynnej 615 mm ustawione pionowo lub poziomo. Stosowano różne podciśnienia po stronie permeatu. Badano też wpływ napowietrzania na proces. Nie wykazano wpływu ustawienia modułów na jakość procesu. Stwierdzono pozytywny wpływ napowietrzania powodującego destrukcję osadu na powierzchni membran.
Submerged membrane filters were tested under the water head driving force. Such filters do not require pressure vessels. Modules with 345 membrane capillaries of 615 mm in length were examined in a vertical and horizontal position. Different low pressures at permeate side, including the presence of aeration, were checked. Impact of module position on its performance was not proved, however a positive effect on the cake destruction caused by aeration was observed.

This paper presents the implementation of an active filter configuration for harmonic compensation. The system can be controlled for current harmonics and reactive power compensations simultaneously by using a converter operating as active shunt filter. A synchronous reference frame based controller is compared to an instantaneous reactive power based controller. The synchronous reference frame method is chosen to control the converter due to the better performance when the supply voltage is distorted. A shunt active filter system has been designed and built to meet IEEE 519 recommended harmonic standards. Simulation demonstrates the good performance of the active filter configuration. Experimental results, corresponding to the operation of the digital signal processor-controlled shunt active filter are also presented.

The paper is dedicated on the improving of the frequency response of FBAR filters by replacement some of the single FBARs with two parallel connected resonators. The method is applied for the basic lattice filter architecture and its modification with twice less number of FBARs. The conditions, which must satisfy the resonator parameters, are derived by theoretical considerations and computer simulations.

W artykule przeprowadzono analizę i ocenę podstawowych metod aktywnego tłumienia zaburzeń przewodzonych. W pierwszej części artykułu omówiono filtry pasywne oraz sposoby rozchodzenia się zaburzeń przewodzonych wspólnych CM i różnicowych DM. Następnie, przedstawione zostały układy aktywne, wraz z analitycznym omówieniem ich właściwości, takich jak: tłumienność wtrąceniowa IL i współczynnik zwiększenia impedancji ΔZn. Omówiono różne typy struktur filtrów, dzieląc je ze względu na sposób detekcji i kompensacji zaburzeń oraz rodzaju zastosowanego w nich sprzężenia. Dla każdej ze struktur przeprowadzono teoretyczną analizę właściwości, wraz ze wskazaniem warunków poprawnej pracy.
The main goal of this paper is an analysis and evaluation of the basic structures of active EMI filters. In the introduction, limitations of passive filters are described and reasons for using active solutions are presented. The first chapter discusses the passive filters and methods of propagation of common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise. Then, active systems are presented, together with an analytical discussion of their properties such as insertion loss (IL) and the impedance increase (ΔZn). This section also discusses the various types of filters, according to differences in the way they detect and compensate EMI noise. Each of the described structure was analyzed and it’s functionality has been presented.
