W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu temperatury na lepkość dynamiczną biopaliw typu Biodiesel RME i SME oraz dla porównania oleju napędowego. Badania stanowiskowe przeprowadzono na reometrze RHEOLABQC niemieckiej firmy Anton Paar GmbH. W celu określenia wpływu temperatury na lepkość dynamiczną reometr został wyposażony w wannę termostatyczną firmy GRANT. Dla badanych paliw wyznaczono zmienność lepkości w zakresie temperatur od -10 do 20°C. W temperaturze -10°C najwyższą lepkością wynoszącą 42 mPaźs charakteryzował się RME, nie co niższą wartość lepkości uzyskano dla SME - 36 mPaźs, natomiast najniższą lepkością cechuje się olej napędowy - 10,3 mPaźs. Wraz ze wzrostem temperatury lekkość malała, przy czym dla RME i SME gwałtownie w zakresie temperatur od -10 do -6°C. Dla pozostałego zakresu temperatur lepkość maleje praktycznie liniowo wraz ze wzrostem temperatur. W temperaturze 20°C lepkość przyjmowała następujące wartości około 13 mPaźs dla RME oraz SME i odpowiednio 8,4 mPaźs dla oleju napędowego.
The paper presents results of the research concerning temperature impact on dynamic viscosity of Biodiesel RME and SME type biofuels, and diesel oil for comparison purposes. Tests at the stand were performed using RHEOLABQC rheometer from German manufacturer Anton Paar GmbH. In order to determine temperature impact on dynamic viscosity, the rheometer was equipped with GRANT thermostatic tank. Viscosity variability was determined for the examined fuels within temperature range from -10 to 20°C. At the temperature of -10°C, the RME was characterised by highest viscosity value of 42 mPaźs. Slightly lower viscosity value was obtained for the SME - 36 mPaźs, whereas lowest viscosity was characteristic for diesel oil - 10.3 mPaźs. Viscosity value was dropping with increasing temperature, while for the RME and SME the drop was rapid within temperature range from -10 to -6°C. For the remaining temperature range viscosity drop with temperature rise was in practice linear. At the temperature of 20°C viscosity had the following values: approximately 13 mPaźs for the RME and SME, and respectively 8.4 mPaźs for diesel oil.

The purpose of this article is to determine, identify and describe the viscosity characteristics of the ferro-oil with different concentrations of magnetic particles at context of temperature changes. These characteristics were determined for the following test conditions: atmospheric pressure, constant shear rate and absent of an external magnetic field. Tests were performed for selected concentrations of magnetic particles in ferro-oil ranging: 1%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8%. Tested ferro-oil was product from Unterensingen FerroTec Company (Germany) which is a mixture of colloidal mineral engine oil LongLife Gold Penzzoil class SAE 15W-40 with addition of Fe3O4 magnetic particles and a surfactant. Analysis of the results, identifying and fitting of characteristics has been made by means of software StatSoft STATISTICA ver.9.1. There has been also undertaken comparison of the accuracy of estimation of reached results by selected mathematical models as well as these results have been rated according to their compliance with theoretical assumptions. Moreover, the waveform parameters of functions have been determined and their assessed quality has been done also. The obtained characteristics going to be used by author in his future work to build mathematical models of viscosity changes of ferro-oils in the aspect of changes of parameters like temperature, pressure, shear rate and the value of the external magnetic field. The determined parameters of physical properties will be used in analytical and numerical studies of flow and operating parameters of slide journal bearings lubricated with ferro-oils.

In Part I of the paper there was determined and described four mathematical-physical models of fittings of the viscosity characteristics: exponential, fourth-degree polynomial and two homographic models – second- and third-degree. In present Part II of the paper above mentioned models have been developed. That has been done their depending on parameter of concentrations of magnetic particles ϕ in ferro-oil. The purpose of this article is to determine, identify and describe the viscosity characteristics of the ferro-oil with different concentrations of magnetic particles in the presence of an external magnetic field interaction. These characteristics are defined in the context of magnetic induction changes. These rheological tests were performed on a Physica MCR 301 rheometer. It was used a measuring system ‘plate to plate’ type which was armed with magneto-rheological research system MRD 180/1T. The tests were performed for the selected temperature of the medium i.e. 90°C, the shear rate θ changes were carried from 0 to 1000 1/s. Changes of the magnetic field intensity value were ranged from 0 to 500 mT. The selected concentrations of magnetic particles in a ferro-oil were 1%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% and the tested ferro-oil was product of FerroTec of Unterensingen (Germany), which is a mixture of colloidal mineral motor oil Penzzoil’s LongLife Gold's SAE 15W-40 with Fe3O4 magnetic particles and the surfactant. Analyses of the results, identify and matching characteristic were calculated using STATISTICA software. It has been proposed three categories of functions mapping the waveforms of the results obtained experimentally: the exponential function, logarithmic with basis of the normal and the polynomial function.

The viscosity of lubricant is physical quantity, which has major impact on slide bearings and micro-bearings functioning parameters. Applying computer simulations as a tool to study the hydrodynamic lubrication phenomenon, researcher should create a computational model as close as possible to the real object, therefore the knowledge about a viscosity dependence on temperature and shear rate of bearing lubricating oil is essential in simulations of slide bearings hydrodynamic lubrication. This paper present research, which show, that also an influence of pressure on oil dynamic viscosity should be taken into consideration. The aim of this work is to determine the influence of pressure on the dynamic viscosity of lubricating oil. In this research the selected new and used engine oils were investigated. The dynamic viscosity of oil was measured at different pressures and temperatures in the function of shear rate. In this work the engine oils of passenger vehicles were investigated. The viscosity measurements for new and used lubricating oils were made with the Thermo Scientific Haake Mars III rheometer. The received information will be used in the simulations of hydrodynamic lubrication of slide bearings and microbearings. Fitting viscosity curves, described by a viscosity model adopted in simulations, to the experimental data, obtained for motor oils, will allow to find the values of coefficients of that model. The determined coefficients will be set in the relationship defined by the adopted viscosity model, implemented in the used for simulations CFD software. Collected data may also be useful for designing bearings and sliding friction pairs.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of changes in the concentration of magnetic particles in ferrooil to change its physical properties, in particular the dynamic viscosity in a constant external magnetic field in terms of changes in shear rate and changes in the intensity of that field. Rheological studies were carried out on Physica MCR 301 rheometer in the “plate -plate” measurement system with an adapter to magneto-rheological studies MRD 180/1T. The applied adapter enable to obtain almost homogeneous distribution of magnetic field strength. Thermal stabilization was carried out by a water jacket in a closed chamber and controlling the nature of the magnetic field was conducted by current’s changes. Tests were performed for shear rate’s changes from 0 to 1000 1/s as regards changes an external magnetic field intensity 0–700 mT. The selected concentrations of magnetic particles in a ferro-oil were 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8% and the tested ferrofluid was product of FerroTec of Unterensingen (Germany), which is a mixture of colloidal mineral motor oil Penzzoil’s LongLife Gold's SAE 15W-40 with Fe3O4 magnetic particles and the surfactant. The paper presents, in the form of graphs, the changes of ferro-oil’s dynamic viscosity as a function of shear rate and concentration of magnetic particles in the aspect of external magnetic field’s intensity changes. The results of research were also subjected to analysis. The obtained characteristics of ferro-oil’s viscosity show clear evidence of non-Newtonian properties of the liquids. There is observed progression of these properties with increasing of magnetic particles concentration. This fact indicates the essential effect of the addition mentioned particles to the change of the ferro-oil’s viscosity characteristics.

This paper is a continuation of the analysis of the grade of wear of the engine oil, used in the Caterpillar's marine engine, which is working in the engine's room of the harbour tug. Previous studies were related to the dynamic viscosity, lubricity and the grade of the metallic elements contamination. In these studies, the viscosity of the oil in most samples decreased with time of exploitation. However, in some samples, an increase of the viscosity was observed, what may indicate the fuel entering into the circulation of lubricating oil and its subsequent evaporation. Aim of this study is to determine the size of the Total Base Number changes and the flash point changes. The authors examine the changes in Total Base Number and the flash point of the exploited engine oil, in specified intervals in time between its exchanges. The results are analyzed and compared to the previously obtained results of the viscosity, lubricity and the grade of the metallic elements contamination. The analyses of the Total Base Number were conducted on the RST 822 Radiometer from Radiometer Analytical A/S, according to the polish standard PN-76/C-04163: Petroleum Products. Determination of the Total Base Number by potentiometric titration with perchloric acid. Flash point was determined using the Cleveland, in the open pot, using an ISL FP 92 5G device from Tusnovics Instruments Poland Ltd. The conclusions of this paper lead to better understanding of the processes, which occur in marine engines and its influence on the oil aging. Understanding of this process contributes significantly to a more accurate mathematical modelling of the aging process of engine oil.

This paper discusses the influence of factors shaping electrorheological characteristics of a clutch. Dependencies on the torque transmitted by the output shaft of the clutch were determined for various rhelogical models. The main part of the work is devoted to rheological modelling of the electrorheological cylinder clutch. The discussed rheological models include: visco-plastic and visco-elasto-plastic Bingham models, visco-elasto-plastic Gamota-Filisco, and Li models. The research stand and possible tests are described. The remaining part of the work discus- ses electrorheological characteristics of the ER fluid. Moreover, directions for further research on the laboratory stand designed and made by the author were formulated.
W artykule omówiony jest wpływ czynników na charakterystyki reologiczne sprzęgła. Dla różnych modeli reologicznych określono zależności na moment przenoszony przez wał wyjściowy sprzęgła. Główna część pracy poświęcona jest reologicznemu modelowaniu elektroreologicznego sprzęgła cylindrycznego. Do omawianych modeli reologicznych włączono: lepko-plastyczny i lepko-sprężysto-plastyczny model Binghama, lepko-sprężysto-plastyczny model Gamota-Filisko i Li. Opisano układ pomiarowy stanowiska badawczego i jego możliwości badawcze. W pozostałej części pracy omówiono charakterystyki płynów elektroreologicznych ER. Wyznaczono także kierunki przyszłych badań na stanowisku laboratoryjnym zaprojektowanym i wykonanym przez autora.

There is presented an effect of the changes of the concentration of magnetic particles included in the ferro-oil on its dynamic viscosity in the presence of external magnetic field in this paper. The study was conducted in the context of temperature’s changes. The authors assume that the concentration of magnetic particles in ferro-oil can significantly affects its basic physical properties as dynamic viscosity, as well as the operational properties of journal sliding bearings ferro-oil’s lubricated. The equally significant as the above mentioned properties may affect the external environmental conditions of operation, especially temperature changes. In this context, an important technique’s issue appears to determine the principles of selection of optimal concentration of above mentioned particles according to the existing environmental conditions of its operation, or the expectations laid against the operation of the devices. Rheological studies were carried out on Physica MCR 301 rheometer in the “plate-to-plate” measurement system with an adapter to magneto-rheological studies MRD 180/1T. Thermal stabilization was carried out by a water jacket in a closed chamber and controlling the nature of the magnetic field was conducted by current’s changes. Tests were performed for four selected temperature range of 60º, 70º, 80º and 90ºC as regards changes an external magnetic field intensity 0-700 mT. The selected concentrations of magnetic particles in a ferro-oil were 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8%.

In this study the results of simultaneous measurements of dynamic viscosity, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and pH of two nanofluids, i.e., thermal oil/Al2O3 and thermal oil/TiO2 are presented. Thermal oil is selected as a base liquid because of possible application in ORC systems as an intermediate heating agent. Nanoparticles were tested at the concentration of 0.1%, 1%, and 5% by weight within temperature range from 20°C to 60°C. Measurement devices were carefully calibrated by comparison obtained results for pure base liquid (thermal oil) with manufacturer’s data. The results obtained for tested nanofluids were compared with predictions made by use of existing models for liquid/solid particles mixtures.

Dlatego istotny wydaje się być dobór odpowiednich pokryć ochronnych na formy, które spełnią zadania kontroli poszczególnych procesów, a także ułatwią usuwanie odlewu, czy przedłużą żywotność form metalowych. W ramach pracy wykonano badania lepkości dynamicznej oraz umownej powłok ochronnych (podkładowych, izolacyjnych i przewodzących ciepło) stosowanych na formy metalowe. Badania prowadzono w temperaturze 25°C. Dokonano również próby oceny ekologiczności stosowanych powłok w temperaturze ich nakładania na formy metalowe (200°C) oraz w temperaturze pracy form (400°C) na podstawie badań chromatograficznych.
The die casting method is based on casting into permanent metal moulds, which makes it possible to obtain a large amount of casts with practically identical shapes. Compared to the technology of sand mould casting, this method has many advantages. However, it thus faces completely different requirements concerning the conditions of both filling the mould and metal solidification. That is why it seems important to select the appropriate protective coatings applied on the moulds, which provide control over the particular processes as well as facilitate the removal of the cast and prolong the durability of the metal moulds. The study included investigations of the dynamic and relative viscosity of protective coatings (ground, insulating and thermal conductive) used for metal moulds. The examinations were performed at 25°C. Also, an attempt was made at evaluating the environmental performance of the used coatings at the temperature of their application onto the metal moulds (200°C) as well as the temperature of the moulds’ operation (400°C) based on chromatographic tests.
