    Opis:
    Operational flight loads have been analyzed from two business jets, a Global 5000 and a Global Express XRS. It is shown that both airframes were subjected to nearly the same number of ground-air-ground cycles, even though the flight times were much different. Flights have been divided into various phases, and loads and turbulence data have been categorized by altitude bands within each phase. Cumulative occurrences of incremental vertical gust load factors have been compared and shown to be comparable for the two airframes. Maneuver load factors have been shown to spread over a wider range of values for the 5000 in every phase. This has been confirmed through comparison of combined loads with those from a CRJ100 and an ERJ-145XR. Derived gust velocities, obtained from the load factors are presented in the form of exceedance spectra. These results from both aircraft are shown to agree well.

    Określane w literaturze przedmiotu zjawisko turbulencji czy chaosu we współczesnej rzeczywistości ekonomicznej oraz zjawisko intensywnego rozwoju doktryny społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesowej (CSR) pokazały dwa strumienie przyczyn, które mogą kształtować oddziaływania menadżerskie i determinować ich zmiany w sferze działalności biznesowej przedsiębiorstwa. W przypadku turbulentnych warunków ustawicznie pojawiająca się nieprzewidywalność jest uznawana przez menadżerów za stały komponent. Na uwagę zasługuje również kwestia wdrażania całościowego zarządzania utrzymaniem ruchu w zakładach KGHM (aktualnie globalne przedsiębiorstwo wydobywcze), nazywanego w literaturze TPM (Total Productive Maintenance). Zastosowany system wprowadzający usprawnienia organizacji pracy kształtuje oddziaływania pracownika, który dzięki prostym rozwiązaniom, takim jak uporządkowanie i systematyka miejsca pracy, zwiększa jego efektywność i zarazem poprawia komfort pracy.
    The literature-referred turbulence or chaos phenomenon found in modern economic reality and the phenomenon of intensive development of the doctrine of Business Social Responsibility (CSR) have shown as a consequence the two streams of reasons which may impact on managerial interactions and determine their changes in entrepreneurial activities of a company. In the case of turbulent conditions, continually appearing unpredictability is treated by managers as a permanent component. Noteworthy is also the issue of the implementation of a total maintenance management in KGHM mining plants (currently a global mining company) called in the literature TPM (Total Productive Maintenance). The implemented system introducing improvements in the organization of work shapes the interactions of an employee, who in simple solutions such as ordering and systematics of job place increases his efficiency and at the same time improves the comfort of work.

    Medium Sized Businesses (MSB’s) form a sizable part of the Polish and EU Business Environment with many of these companies operating in industrial / commercial sectors. Their aggregate Green-House Gas (GHG) impact is therefore significant. However, within MSB’s, there is a significant resistance to GHG / Sustainability issues. This paper presents ways in which MSB’s can be convinced that positive responses on GHG / Sustainability issues can provide sustained Business Benefits. It goes on to describe how the Academic Community can contribute to this process by assisting MSB’s to operate in a more environmentally sustained manner whilst at the same time gaining the advantages of concrete Business and Financial Operation benefits.

    The article is an attempt to bring closer opinions on defining such concepts as work environment and company environment. The attempt was made by a pedagogue and an economist who represent such sciences as Job Pedagogy and Economy. The idea of ‘work milieu’, which is popular these days, is contrasted with competitive surrounding and macro environment, with inner and outer environment of a company or organization.

    W artykule poświęcono uwagę firmom znajdującym się w fazie rozruchu, zwanym start-up’ami – działającym na rynku nie dłużej niż rok. Przedstawiono etapy tworzenia takich form działalności, szanse i zagrożenia związane z powstaniem nowego biznesu. Podjęto rozważania na temat tego: czy każdy pomysł można przełożyć na dobry produkt? jakie pomysły mają największe szanse na sukces? oraz co decyduje o tym, że pomysł przekształca się w (udany) biznes? Wskazano znaczenie jakości pomysłu w fazie wejścia na rynek oraz dostępność instrumentów (w tym finansowych) wsparcia początkujących przedsiębiorców. Omówiono proces przeobrażenia pomysłu w produkt i zaprezentowano przykłady firm z branży IT, które w ostatnich latach przebyły z sukcesem drogę od koncepcji prowadzenia biznesu do jej realizacji.
    In this article the focus was given on the companies that are in the start-up phase and that have been operating in the market for no longer than one year. Stages of developing such forms of businesses as well as opportunities and risks related with establishing a new business were presented. It was considered whether: every idea can be transformed into a good product? which ideas have the biggest chance for success? and what is the deciding factor that makes an idea a (successful) business? The significance of quality of the idea in the stage of entering the market and availability of instruments (including financial) that support beginning businesses were pointed out. The process of transforming an idea into a product was discussed and examples of companies from the IT sector that in the recent years went through the steps from the concept of running a business to its implementation were presented.

    Aligning resource choice and operations decision in the value chain (input-process-output) is one of the most important functions of a firm not only to make its operations to be competitively distinct but also very important for the firm’s growth and survival. However, the role of competitively distinct operations in maintaining better performance in dynamic and changing business environment has remained unclear. Therefore, this paper examined the relationship between competitively distinct operations, high efficiency operations and operational performance (research model one). In the similar manner the relationship between turbulent business environments, operational performance and financial performance were also examined (research model two). The study was conducted considering survey responses from 61 small and medium size enterprises from Finland. Correlation test and structural path modelling was used to test and validate the proposed hypothesis and research model. The results showed that competitively distinct operation enables high efficiency operations, which influences operational performance positively and significantly. In the similar manner, operational performance influences financial performance positively and significantly. Likewise, turbulent business environment was found to have a negative impact on operational and financial performance. The research findings are found to be adequate enough to highlight the importance of aligning resource choice and operations decisions in reducing the impact of turbulent business environment on organizational performance.
