Artykuł przedstawia rolę, jaką analiza strategiczna pełni w ocenie działalności przedsiębiorstwa turystycznego. Dla realizacji tego celu przedstawiono specyfikę działalności przedsiębiorstwa turystycznego, opisując różne jego rodzaje oraz prezentując determinanty organizacyjne, prawne rozwoju tych przedsiębiorstw, a także bazę techniczno-materiałową stanowiącą podstawę prowadzonej działalności. W dalszej kolejności omówiono funkcje analizy strategicznej w przedsiębiorstwie turystycznym. Scharakteryzowano wybrane metody analizy strategicznej, przedstawiając ich zastosowanie w ocenie działalności różnych przedsiębiorstw turystycznych.
The article presents the role that the strategic analysis plays in the assessment of a tourist enterprise's operations. In order to achieve this objective the peculiarity of a tourist enterprise's operations is presented, including a description of its different types and a presentation of organisational, legal determinants of these enterprises' development, as well as the technical and material base which forms the basis for the operations being run. Further, the article covers the functions of the strategic analysis in a tourist enterprise. Selected methods of the strategic analysis are characterised by presenting their application in the assessment of different tourist enterprises' operations.

The article shows in a synthetic way the problems of unemployment in the ten states that newly accessed the EU in 2004. Special attention was paid to long-term unemployment. The period of time from 2000 to 2011, that was selected for the purpose of the analysis, includes the years that directly preceded and directly followed accession to the EU. This was to show the possible changes in intensity of this phenomenon in the selected countries.

Research-based learning is an outstanding and very demanding form of university education. Established teaching/learning formats have to be overcome, which begins with time-consuming didactic considerations of course planning, continues during the supervision of students during the semester and leads to a completely different interpretation of the role of teachers. On the basis of necessary didactic preliminary considerations for the realization of research-based learning in a higher education context, the article introduces the concrete thematic implementation in the case study of the “Introduction to Scientific Work” module. In order to be able to reflect research-based learning under the paradigms of self-regulated and self-organized learning again and again, in team meetings at the horizontal level of the students, it proved to be useful to have a common topic to be worked on during the conception of the module. Due to the fact that all participants in the yet unfinished pilot project are studying one of the variants in the field of public health, initial experiences in a methodologically qualitative social space analysis appeared to be manageable. On the basis of some target group-oriented comments on social epidemiology, the contribution describes the scientific significance of social space. On this basis, the implementation of the didactics of research-based learning in six courses, each consisting of four teaching units of 45 minutes, is presented.
Nauka oparta na badaniach naukowych jest wybitną i bardzo wymagającą formą edukacji uniwersyteckiej. Ugruntowane formaty nauczania/uczenia się muszą zostać przezwyciężone, co zaczyna się od czasochłonnych rozważań dydaktycznych nad planowaniem kursów i jest kontynuowane w trakcie nadzoru nad studentami w trakcie semestru i prowadzi do zupełnie innej interpretacji roli nauczycieli. Na podstawie niezbędnych wstępnych rozważań dydaktycznych dotyczących realizacji kształcenia opartego na badaniach naukowych w kontekście szkolnictwa wyższego, w artykule przedstawiono konkretną realizację tematyczną w studium przypadku modułu „Wprowadzenie do pracy naukowej”. W celu odzwierciedlenia uczenia się opartego na badaniach naukowych w paradygmatach samoregulującego się i samoorganizującego uczenia się raz po raz, na spotkaniach zespołu na poziomie poziomym studentów, przydatne okazało się posiadanie wspólnego tematu, nad którym należy pracować w trakcie opracowywania koncepcji modułu. Z uwagi na fakt, że wszyscy uczestnicy nieukończonego jeszcze projektu pilotażowego badają jeden z możliwych wariantów w dziedzinie zdrowia publicznego, początkowe doświadczenia w metodologicznie jakościowej analizie przestrzeni społecznej okazały się możliwe do zrealizowania. Na podstawie niektórych uwag dotyczących epidemiologii społecznej, skierowanych do grup docelowych, wkład ten opisuje naukowe znaczenie przestrzeni społecznej. Na tej podstawie przedstawiono realizację dydaktyki uczenia się w oparciu o wyniki badań w sześciu kursach, z których każdy składa się z czterech 45-minutowych jednostek dydaktycznych.

Research on the evolution of tourism space in Maghreb cities is hindered due to the limited availability and questionable credibility of the data. The guidebook analysis method was developed by S. Liszewski (1999) and it offers a way of analysing tourism space. The main objective of this research paper is to indicate the advantages and disadvantages of using this method to analyse changes in the urban tourism space of the Maghreb. This paper presents conclusions of the research conducted in six locations in the period 2012-2014.

The paper attempts to define the term "communicative space” for (im)politeness research. “Communicative space” is a crucial notion for the definition of concepts such as “ritual balance”, “discursive rule”, “discursive position”, “territoriality”, “field of action” and “co-construction of communicative interaction” (Jacoby, Ochs 1995). “Communicative space” cannot be reduced to the mere physical space in which an (im)polite communicative interaction takes place (“transactional space” according to Kendon 1990). It is a mental space, which is “co-constructed” in so far as it is the result of the convergence of the mental worlds of interactants mediated by utterences. In this sense it can be defined as a “phenomenal space” which is ruled by structuring principles and field laws. The capacity of creating convergent communicative spaces is a key competence which lays the foundations for dialogue capacity and permits successful communicative interactions; therefore it is defined as a very important educational goal in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2001).

We prove a class of uncertainty principles of the form $∥S_{g}f∥_{1} ≤ C(∥x^{a}f∥_{p} + ∥ω^{b}f̂∥_{q})$, where $S_{g}f$ is the short time Fourier transform of f. We obtain a characterization of the range of parameters a,b,p,q for which such an uncertainty principle holds. Counter-examples are constructed using Gabor expansions and unimodular polynomials. These uncertainty principles relate the decay of f and f̂ to their behaviour in phase space. Two applications are given: (a) If such an inequality holds, then the Poisson summation formula is valid with absolute convergence of both sums. (b) The validity of an uncertainty principle implies sufficient conditions on a symbol σ such that the corresponding pseudodifferential operator is of trace class.

The development of advanced spatial-positioning and monitoring systems for medical monitoring and emergency response using RFID & Wi-Fi technologies is a large-scale research project being conducted at the ward W21C of Foothills Hospital, Calgary, Canada by University of Calgary. The scope of this project is to support real-time location tracking of medical equipments and personnel in hospital settings. In this context, we developed an innovative, interactive, decision-support medical system for tracking of personnel and high value medical equipments. The goal behind development of such a system is to provide a convenient, easy to use interface using existing technologies that allows to visualize and analyse clinical pathways and health care provider’s workflow pattern as well as to perform time motion studies and more advanced statistical pattern analysis. While achieving this goal, we aim to also fill the existing void of documentation and present to scientific community functional issues encountered along with their importance in success.

The discrete element method (DEM) is a numerical technique used in many areas of modern science to describe the behavior of bulk materials. Terramechanics of planetary soil analogs for in situ resource utilization activities is a research field where the use of DEM appears to be beneficial. Indeed, the close-to-physics modeling approach of DEM allows the researcher to gain much insight into the mechanical behavior of the regolith when it interacts with external devices in conditions that are hard to test experimentally. Nevertheless, DEM models are very difficult to calibrate due to their high complexity. In this paper, we study the influence of fundamental model parameters on specific simulation outcomes. We provide qualitative and quantitative assessments of the influence of DEM model parameters on the simulated repose angle and computational time. These results help to understand the behavior of the numerical model and are useful in the model calibration process.

The article analyzes the urban space in the contemporary Polish crime fiction. It uses a set of narratives Mordercze miasta (Deadly Cities) written by Marta Guzowska, Agnieszka Krawczyk, and Adrianna Michalewska as an example that intends to help with analyzing the space in crime fiction. It also uses the Social Network Analysis (SNA) according to Barnes and Hannerz along with Caillois’ idea of a novel as a rational game. Finally, the article presents an argument that space is an element of a literary game that is well-known in the tradition of crime stories. It becomes an excuse to begin communication with the reader.

The present paper explores the current nexus between Cognitive Linguistics (CL) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), focusing on theories of conceptual positioning, distancing and perspective-taking in discourse space. It assesses the strengths, limitations, and prospects for further operationalization of positioning as a valid methodology in CDA, and political discourse studies in particular. In the first part, I review the cognitive models of positioning that have made the most significant contribution to CDA. Discussing Deictic Space Theory and Text World Theory, among others, I argue that these models reveal further theoretical potential which has not been exploited yet. While they offer a comprehensive and plausible account of how representations and ideologically charged worldviews are established, they fail to deliver a pragmatic explanation of how addressees are made to establish a worldview, in the service of speaker’s goals. The second part of the paper outlines Proximization Theory, a discursive model of crisis and conflict construction in political discourse. I argue that, unlike the other models, it fully captures the complex geopolitical and ideological positioning in political discourse space, providing a viable handle on the dynamics of conflict between the opposing ideologies of the space.

One of the most important consequences of the design relating to human behavior is to facilitate or to discourage contacts between people. The method of shaping of the physical space can affect the way of the social space use. The concept of an interactional space corresponds to a holistic approach of place in which a set of spatial-physical attributes assisting social contacts in a particular location creates a appropriate situation for social contacts. The interactional nature of public spaces in the city is affected by several functional, structural and aesthetic factors of the environment. The presented paper describes these factors and shows on selected examples how they are used in the analysis of interactive features of public space.

Artykuł wykorzystuje kategorię czasu do opisu rzeczywistości edukacyjnej. Kategoria ta ma wielki potencjał, który wydaje się nie być wykorzystywany przez pedagogów. Tekst charakteryzuje formy strukturalizacji czasu przejawiane przez uczniów liceum w poszczególnych fizycznych przestrzeniach szkoły. Podstawą badań byłą koncepcja analizy transakcyjnej, stworzona przez Erica Berne’a w połowie XX wieku. W badaniach wykorzystano technikę zwaną mapowaniem, która pozwoliła na określenie transakcyjno-temporalnego profilu poszczególnych przestrzeni szkolnych.
The article uses the category of time to describe educational reality. This category has great potential, which seems not to be used by pedagogues. The text characterizes the forms of time structuring manifested by high school students in individual physical spaces of the school. The fundamental of the research was the concept of transactional analysis, created by Eric Berne in the mid-twentieth century. The research used a technique called mapping, which allowed to determine the transactional-temporal profiles of individual school spaces.

Classical canonical correlation analysis seeks the associations between two data sets, i.e. it searches for linear combinations of the original variables having maximal correlation. Our task is to maximize this correlation. This problem is equivalent to solving the generalized eigenvalue problem. The maximal correlation coefficient (being a solution of this problem) is the first canonical correlation coefficient. In this paper we construct nonlinear canonical correlation analysis in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. The new kernel generalized eigenvalue problem always has the solution equal to one, and this is a typical case of over-fitting. We present methods to solve this problem and compare the results obtained by classical and kernel canonical correlation analysis.
