Suffering is one of the guides of our everyday lives, who we meet in relation to pain, anxiety, fear, despair, loneliness, feeling of guilt but also carelessness, neglect or cruelty, recklessness and everything which incite it. Suffering makes an assumption for a specific way of man´s self-expression and also makes presumption for free decision how to give his life a reason and which attitude he chooses towards it. Except for its physiology, psychology, suffering has also its epistemology because it refers us to a way of thinking about the world. In suffering is based the original experience of the world which helps the man understand the world. The experience of suffering reveals us also those aspects of human life which are hidden from our rationality and to which we get with rather intuition, introspection than with logic of our thinking. Also other virtues of man are born in suffering. In it we recognize more deeply and more sensitively, evaluate more consistently and act more responsibly. In suffering the man does not only exists but also exceeds beyond himself and makes our world more human.

Advertising accompanies us on almost every step. Manufacturers use all kinds of media to reach as many potential customers as possible. What is the conclusion? It’s impossible to hide that advertising has a huge impact on our lives, also on our beliefs and value system, although maybe we do not always realize it. The creators of ads realize that a better recipient is a person who does not realize that he is convinced. But not only advertising affects our lives. We also have impact on it. It draws from our culture – it shows our reality, and oen the reality of our dreams. ¥erefore, if we carefully look at the ads and their heroes, we will learn a lot about the modern man, his life, dreams and needs – means about ourselves. The pace of socio-moral changes taking place in Europe and the world is very large. Our knowledge and approach to issues related to sex, sexism, stereotypes, gender roles and discrimination have undergone significant changes over the past years. The dynamic course of these changes has brought us not only new solutions, but also new, widely discussed problems today – the phenomenon of sexism and stereotypical perception of gender norms. It would seem that stereotypes about gender norms, reproduced and recorded inter alia in advertisements, hit only women. We see in them that the range of women’s roles is rigid and limited. It turns out, however, that artificial simplifications also affect men. There are several categories in which they are „pressed”.

Artykuł traktuje o współczesnym zakwestionowaniu nowożytnej wizji człowieka jako podmiotu. Ukazuje, w jaki sposób takie myślenie stało się swego rodzaju ponowoczesną dominantą, a odnosząc się do kilku konkretnych koncepcji filozoficznych, tłumaczy jak należy rozumieć idę „śmierć człowieka” i jakie są jej konsekwencje. W pierwszej części autor ukazuje, że nowożytne kreowanie podmiotu na szczególnego rodzaju suwerena, władcę siebie i świata, w konsekwencji doprowadza do jego „śmierci”. „Śmierci”, która w pewien sposób została sprowokowana przez samych rzeczników podmiotowości, przez ich pomysł ubóstwienia podmiotu, uczynienia go absolutnie niezależnym, autonomicznym, niczym nieskrępowanym.W drugiej części, odwołując się do takich filozofów jak Nietzsche, Heidegger, Sartre, Derrida, Foucault, autor tłumaczy, z czym wiąże się ponowoczesna idea „śmierci człowieka”. Uzasadnia, że każdy z tych filozofów, porzucając metafizykę, kwestionując nowożytne rozumienie podmiotowości, proponuje wizję człowieka, który przestaje być „jakiś”, jakoś określony, stale obecny, zdefiniowany. Zgodnie z takim myśleniem człowiek staje się całkowicie nieokreślony. Na koniec, odwołując się do myślenia Michela Foucaulta, autor ukazuje istotne znamiona kultury, w której żyjemy, jako konsekwencje przyjęcia pewnych ponowoczesnych założeń w myśleniu o człowieku. Mówi więc o „kulturze niedialektycznej”, „kulturze dobrego funkcjonowania” oraz „kulturze oporu”.
This article addresses the contemporary challenge to the modern vision of man as a subject. It shows that this kind of thinking has become a postmodern dominant view, and by taking into account several philosophical accounts it explains how one should understand the idea of the „death of a man” and what its consequences are. In the first part, the author shows that the modern creation of the subject for a particular kind of sovereign, that is the ruler of himself and the world, consequently leads to his own „death”. The author argues that the death of such a subject has in a way been provoked by the very advocates of subjectivity and their idea of the deification of the subject, making him absolutely independent, autonomous, uninhibited. In the second part of the paper, the author explains what is entailed by the postmodern idea of the “death of a man” with reference to philosophers such as Nietzsche, Heidegger, Sartre, Derrida, and Foucault. He argues that each of these philosophers, by abandoning metaphysics and questioning the modern understanding of subjectivity, proposes the vision of a man who ceases to be „jakis”, somehow determined, permanently present, defined. According to such a view, man becomes instead completely undefined. Lastly, the author shows following Foucault the essential features of the culture in which we live as the result of accepting certain postmodern assumptions when thinking about man. Hence, he speaks of a „nondialectic culture”, „the culture of good functioning” and the „culture of resistance”.

Freedom is a gift, but also a task. It is a value that binds a man to make intelligent choices in truth and love, respecting the dignity of a person. If a man uses freedom in a wrong way, cultivating their own desires, it comes to enslavement, and finally to the mutilation of humanity, which is the consequence of bad decisions and tragic choices. The first part of this article contains some terms of freedom, and then a problem of positive and negative freedom was shown. The highlight of these analyses is the presentation of selected contemporary forms of enslavement of the young man such as addictions, media, materialism or consumerism.

Der M ensch wird in der Bibel als Wesen dargestellt, das es obwohl sterben muss, von Gott zum Leben bestimmt wird. Des Begriff des Lebens umfasst nich nur dasselbe biologische Werden und Dauern, sondern auch Leben, Wohlhabenheit und Glück, das mit dem inneren Frieden verknüpft ist. Fast im ganzen Alten Testament zeigt sich, dass das Leben nur zur iridisch-zeitlichen Dauer begrenzt war, was eine überzeugung wurde, so Lohn, wie Strafe stütze sich prinzipiell auf der zeitlichen Vergeilung. Erst die Idee der unsterblichen Seele, die sich in den letzten chronologischen Büchern das Alten Testaments erschien, machte das Finden der Brückenbah bahn leichter, die das irdische mit dem jensetigen Leben verbindet.

Every cultural era is specified by diverse questions and various problems which it ́s destined to face and cope with. In last decades there are beginig to appear questions which portray the developement of scientific disciplines, concerning life and man himself. In 20-th century we have witnessed several revolutions. Besides the revolution in electronics and computer technique, the terapeutical and biological revolution has particularly influenced our lives. The discoveries of biology came before we could prepare our minds for it. We are necessariled to reflect a new arosed problems, revalued and interest in a new opportunities. It must to be opened philosophic – ethical dialogue because on the one side the medicine and biology and another relationship labour are fascinating with their discouveries, but on the second side they draw dilem and fear about their impact onthe future of the human race. Whether bioetics can handle moral problems, which was brought to us biology time will tell.

The article contains reflections on modern models of human, created by capitalist socioeconomic formation. First of all, they refer to those models whose implementation affects the imbalance of social systems. These are different version of homo oeconomicus and homo digitalis, which is the latest version of homo virtualis. Their propagation poses a serious threat to the maintenance of balance in the social environment, and, consequently, to humankind. However, recently, the model of ecological man appeared, and his new version, a sustainable man, is only in statu nascendi. He differs radically from homo oeconomicus and homo digitalis. Therefore, one believes that he will stop the pace of disequilibrium in the social environment. However, his success is doubtful.
Artykuł zawiera rozważania o współczesnych modelach człowieka, wykreowanych przez kapitalistyczną formację społeczno-ekonomiczną. Przede wszystkim dotyczą one tych modeli, których implementacja wpływa na wzrost nierównowagi systemów społecznych Są to różne odmiany Homo oeconomicus i homo digitalis, który jest najnowszą wersją Homo virtualis. Ich propagacja stwarza poważne zagrożenie dla utrzymywania równowagi w środowisku społecznym i – w konsekwencji – dla ludzkości. Jednak ostatnio pojawił się model człowieka ekologicznego, a jego nowa wersja – człowiek zrównoważony znajduje się dopiero in statu nascendi. Różni się on diametralnie od Homo oeconomicus i Homo digitalis, Dlatego przypuszcza się, że powstrzyma on tempo narastania nierównowagi w środowisku społecznym. Wątpliwe jest jednak, czy to mu się uda.

The above text consists of two parts. The first one contains translation of 40 theses of Martin Luther of 14 of January 1536, called Dispute Concerning Man written down for the Wittenberg University. The second part contains the commentary. It should be noted that Luther`s text enclosed here in full corresponds with The 95 Theses of 31th of October, 1517. The author of the Comment remarks, that Aristotle`s rational philosophical concept of man has its limits of theological nature. Theology formulates the tasks of reason that, despite the decay of man, must still perform its tasks, whereas theology overcomes one-sidedness of rationalism, pointing out to the aim and formulating the sense of human life that is impossible without reference to God. These problems are dealt with in the second part of the abovementioned forty theses, 20-40. There appears a clear thought, that while fighting with his own peccability, man depends on grace (sola gratia). Here L. refers to Paul`s Letter to the Romans (3, 28) and his commentary of Psalm 51. The further part of the commentary includes specific parts of the 40 theses, arranged respectively. In the concluding part, particular contemporary concepts of human being are listed, and, at the same time, general wider perspective of Lutheran concept of man is revealed.
