    Opis:
    Butler’s problem poses a challenge to philosophical theories of intentional action because it suggests that intentionality attribution is dependent on moral judgement. Experimental results reached so far seem to confirm this thesis. However, the agent described in Butler scenarios seems to lack fundamental rationality, which may distort intuitions about the intentionality of his/her actions. An experimental study described in this work aims to overcome this problem by providing explicit reasons for action. Strength of motivation is also compared with moral judgement as a factor in intentionality attribution. The results of the study suggest that neither explicitly described reasons nor strength of motivation have a significant influence on intentionality attribution in Butler scenarios.

    The Outer Carpathians are known for a few sections, where transitions from the Upper Cretaceous to the Palaeogene, including the K-Pg boundary interval, were described. One of them, the Bąkowiec section in the Skole Nappe, was examined with reference to the record of biostratigraphy and palaeoenvironmental changes, mainly based on the analysis of calcareous nannofossil assemblages. This study shows no evidence for the K-Pg boundary; however, the presence of the nannofossil species Micula prinsii, marking the topmost Maastrichtian UC20dTP Zone, was noted. The appearance of this low-latitude taxon and relevant changes in the composition of nannofossil assemblages indicate an influx of Tethyan warm water into the northern Carpathian basins during the latest Maastrichtian, shortly before the K-Pg boundary event. Therefore, the authors infer that the upper part of the Bąkowiec section recorded the latest Maastrichtian warming of climate, probably triggered by Deccan volcanic activity.

    Opis:
    Recommendation algorithms trained on a training set containing sub-optimal decisions may increase the likelihood of making more bad decisions in the future. We call this harmful effect self-induced bias, to emphasize that the bias is driven directly by the user’s past choices. In order to better understand the nature of self-induced bias of recommendation algorithms that are used by older adults with cognitive limitations, we have used agent-based simulation. Based on state-of-the-art results in psychology of aging and cognitive science, as well as our own empirical results, we have developed a cognitive model of an e-commerce client that incorporates cognitive decision-making abilities. We have evaluated the magnitude of self-induced bias by comparing results achieved by simulated agents with and without cognitive limitations due to age. We have also proposed new recommendation algorithms designed to counteract self-induced bias. The algorithms take into account user preferences and cognitive abilities relevant to decision making. To evaluate the algorithms, we have introduced 3 benchmarks: a simple product filtering method and two types of widely used recommendation algorithms: Content-Based and Collaborative filtering. Results indicate that the new algorithms outperform benchmarks both in terms of increasing the utility of simulated agents (both old and young), and in reducing self-induced bias.

    Bioleaching research considers both the bio- and anthroposphere in the search for novel ways to recover resources and elements, which is important to the concept of sustainable development. Since the efficient, cost-effective and simple recovery of resources is of increasing importance in the circular economy model, the bioleaching of metals is a method currently gaining interest. The process is also of importance considering the need for the neutralization of waste materials/resources that allow for their safe storage and use. In this study, Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans bacteria, which is commonly found and widely utilized in the bioleaching process due to its high tolerance to heavy metals, was used in a twenty-eight-day experiment. The manner in which bacteria inhabit incineration residues was observed using fluorescence optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The concentration of elements in incineration residues and in the post-reaction solutions was measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and the efficiency of element recovery was calculated based on the results. Municipal waste incineration bottom ash and sewage sludge incineration fly ash were considered in the experiment. The extraction rates were far from satisfactory, with the average 20 and 50% for bottom ash and sewage sludge ash, respectively. The obtained results were consistent with microscopic observations where the relative number of bacteria increased only slightly over time in the sewage-sludge fly ash and was barely observed in the bottom ash of municipal-waste incineration.
    Badania procesów bioługowania to analiza przenikania się bio- i antroposfery, w poszukiwaniu nowych sposobów na odzyskiwanie zasobów i pierwiastków. Granica tych sfer ma duży potencjał dla wdrażania modelu zrównoważonego rozwoju. Ze względu na fakt, że efektywne, tanie oraz proste metody odzyskiwania surowców mają rosnące znaczenie w gospodarce o obiegu zamkniętym, bioługowanie metali jest metodą, która obecnie cieszy się coraz większym zainteresowaniem. Jest to również proces istotny w kontekście neutralizacji surowców odpadowych umożliwiającej ich bezpieczne magazynowania i zastosowanie. W przeprowadzonym badaniu powszechnie występujące bakterie Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans, które są często używane w procesach bioługowania ze względu na fakt ich wysokiej tolerancji na metale ciężkie, zostały wykorzystane w 28-dniowym eksperymencie. Sposób i zmienność w czasie, w jaki bakterie zasiedlają osad po spalaniu, został zaobserwowany przy pomocy fluorescencyjnej mikroskopii optycznej i skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej. Stężenie pierwiastków w osadach po spalaniu i w poreakcyjnych roztworach zostało zmierzone przy użyciu indukcyjnie sparowanej plazmowej spektrometrii mas, a efektywność odzyskiwania pierwiastków została obliczona na podstawie uzyskanych wyników. Popioły po spalaniu odpadów komunalnych oraz popioły lotne ze spalania osadów ściekowych zostały ujęte w eksperymencie. Stosunki ekstrakcji pierwiastków były dalekie od zadowalających ze średnią 20 oraz 50% dla popiołów po spalaniu odpadów komunalnych oraz popiołu z osadów ściekowych. Pozyskane wyniki są w zgodzie z obserwacjami dokonanymi przy pomocy mikroskopii, gdzie relatywna liczba bakterii wzrosła niewiele we wspomnianym czasie w przypadku popiołów ściekowych i była w zasadzie niedostrzegalna w przypadku popiołów dennych.

    . This study presents a modified algorithm to determine the accuracy of GPS positioning in aerial navigation. To achieve this, a mixed model with measurement weights was used to determine the resultant value of accuracy of aerial vehicle positioning. The measurement weights were calculated as a function of the number of GPS tracking satellites. The calculations were performed on actual GPS measurement data recorded by two onboard GNSS receivers installed onboard a Cessna 172 aircraft. The flight test was conducted around the military airport in Dęblin. The conducted analyses demonstrated that the developed algorithm improved the accuracy of GPS positioning from 62 to 91% for horizontal coordinates and between 16-83% for the vertical component of the aerial vehicle position in the BLh ellipsoidal frame. The obtained test results show that the developed method improves the accuracy of aircraft position and could be applied in aerial navigation.

    The article presents the results of research on the development of a method for improving the positioning accuracy of an UAV equipped with a single-frequency GPS receiver for determining the linear elements of exterior orientation in aerial photogrammetry. Thus, the paper presents a computational strategy for improving UAV position determination using the SPP code method and the products of the IGS service. The developed algorithms were tested in two independent research experiments performed with the UAV platform on which an AsteRx-m2 UAS single-frequency receiver was installed. As a result of the experiments, it was shown that the use of IGS products in the SPP code method made it possible to improve the accuracy of the linear elements to the level of about ±2.088 m for X coordinate, ±1.547 m for Y coordinate, ±3.712 m for Z coordinate. The paper also shows the trend of changes in the obtained accuracy in determining linear elements of exterior orientation in the form of a linear regression function. Finally, the paper also applies the SBAS corrections model for the improvement of UAV position calculation and determination of linear elements of exterior orientation. In this case, the improvement in the accuracy of determining the linear elements of exterior orientation is about ±1.843 m for X coordinate, ±1.658 m for Y coordinate, ±7.930 m for Z coordinate. As the obtained test results show, the use of IGS products and SBAS corrections in the SPP code method makes it possible to improve the determination of UAV positions for the use in aerial photogrammetry.

    The article presents a modified scheme of determining the accuracy parameter of SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) positioning with use of two supporting systems: EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) and SDCM (System of Differential Correction and Monitoring). The proposed scheme is based on the weighted mean model, which combines single solutions of EGNOS and SDCM positions in order to calculate the accuracy of positioning of the aerial vehicle. The applied algorithm has been tested in a flight experiment conducted in 2020 in north-eastern Poland. The phase of approach to landing of a Diamond DA 20-C1 aircraft at the EPOD airport (European Poland Olsztyn Dajtki) was subjected to numerical analysis. The Septentrio AsterRx2i geodesic receiver was installed on board of the aircraft to collect and record GPS (Global Positioning System) observations to calculate the navigation position of the aircraft. In addition, the EGNOS and SDCM corrections in the “*.ems” format were downloaded from the real time server data. The computations were realized in RTKPOST library of the RTKLIB v.2.4.3 software and also in SciLab application. Based on the conducted research, it was found that the accuracy of aircraft positioning from the EGNOS+SDCM solution ranged from -1.63 m to +3.35 m for the ellipsoidal coordinates BLh. Additionally, the accuracy of determination of the ellipsoidal height h was 1÷28% higher in the weighted mean model than in the arithmetic mean model. On the other hand, the accuracy of determination of the ellipsoidal height h was 1÷28% higher in the weighted mean model than for the single EGNOS solution. Additionally, the weighted mean model reduced the resultant error of the position RMS-3D by 1÷13% in comparison to the arithmetic mean model. The mathematical model used in this study proved to be effective in the analysis of the accuracy of SBAS positioning in aerial navigation.
