The most flexible type of transport is the motor transport. The article shows the electronic toll collection system present in Poland from 2011. However, the main goal is to introduce the entrepreneurs’ opinions - the system users and the privet people that are using the system, in order to compare their view on the functioning of that system.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie obecnej sytuacji przewozu pasażerów transportem zbiorowym, głównie autobusami komunikacji miejskiej, na terenie Górnego Śląska. Wydaje się, że po dokończeniu Drogowej Trasy Średnicowej na terenie największych miast Śląska droga ta może stać sie idealną trasa komunikacyjną łączącą te miasta. Informacje z dalekiego wschodu pokazują, że powstają tam nowego rodzaju środki transportu, czekające na wdrożenie i akceptację społeczną. Artykuł ma pomóc spojrzeć na sytuację przemieszczania się pasażerów na terenie niewielkiego obszarowo, ale bardzo zaludnionego województwa śląskiego właśnie takimi środkami transportu.
Article aims to present the current situation of public transport passengers, mainly urban service buses, in Upper Silesia. It seems that after completing the Ring Road within the largest cities in Silesia the road might become an ideal communication route linking those cities. Information from the Far East show that there are created a new kind of the means of transport, waiting for the implementation and social acceptance. Article is intended to help look at the situation of the movement of passengers in the small-area, but very populated province of Silesia just by such means of transport.

In the article, in addition to discussing issues of security at railway crossings presents an analysis of responses to a questionnaire of a survey conducted in the context of safety at level crossings, and completed by three groups directly related to transport, namely train drivers, car drivers and crossings keepers.

Napęd zwrotnicowy jest ważnym elementem wśród urządzeń sterowania ruchem kolejowym. Ma on bezpośredni wpływ na bezpieczeństwo przewożonych osób i towarów. Jego współpraca z rozjazdem kolejowym jest najważniejszym z elementów w procesie sterowania ruchem. Również diagnostyka napędu zwrotnicowego i jego współpracy z rozjazdem jest procesem ważnym. Niestety, proces diagnostyki i analizy stanu układu napęd zwrotnicowy - rozjazd nie jest stawiany na takim poziomie, na jakim powinno się go stawiać. Mogłoby się wydawać, że rozwój techniki powinien powodować poprawę procesu diagnostycznego i analizy stanu urządzeń. Niestety, tak nie jest. Brakuje precyzyjnej definicji sił występujących w układzie napęd zwrotnicowy - rozjazd oraz dokładnych wytycznych interpretacji wyników pomiarów. Również brak jasno zdefiniowanych czasookresów przeglądów. Czasookresy są przyjmowane bez uzasadnienia popartego badaniami. W artykule przedstawiono założenia zmian czasookresu pomiarowego w napędach zwrotnicowych typu EEA-5.
Point mechanism is an important component of the safety installation. It has direct effect on the safety of passengers and freight. Its interaction with the point switch is the most important of all the elements of the train driving process. Also, point mechanism diagnostics and point mechanism interaction with the point switch is of significant importance. Unfortunately, appropriate importance is not attached to the process of diagnostics and analysis of the point mechanism - point switch system. One might expect that the technological progress should result in the improvement of the diagnostic process and the analysis of equipment condition. This is not the case. There is no accurate definition of the forces acting within the point mechanism - point switch system, neither precise guideline how to interpret the measurement results. Moreover, there are no clearly defined service intervals. Service intervals are assumed without any justification based on tests. The paper presents the guidelines for changing measurement intervals for the Type EEA-5 Point Mechanisms.

Jednym z ważniejszych elementów zapewniających bezpieczeństwo na kolei jest poprawna praca rozjazdów. Rozjazd kolejowy jest newralgicznym elementem drogi kolejowej, szczególnie narażonym na negatywne oddziaływanie śniegu i niskich temperatur W okresie zimowym występują utrudnienia związane z działaniem tych urządzeń. Opady śniegu lub oblodzenie szyn powodują blokowanie się iglic rozjazdowych, a niska temperatura zwiększa opory ruchu zamknięć nastawczych.

For centuries, it is known that people always prefer to accommodate in the region where there is good transportation network. Proper organization of transportation is one of the key elements which influence the dynamics of the World economics system development. Thanks to infrastructure modernization which allows to transfer the goods between engaged parties, it is possible to increase production and commonly to intense exploitation of areas located near this infrastructure among others in industry purposes. With regard to increasing demand for effective and efficient transportation system, there is a real need to improve communication and transportation infrastructure. A chance for this target shall be modern high technologies, which allows running with very high speed and thus also to reduce journey time. For this purpose there were established and is still developing relatively new product – high speed rail which is supposed to revolutionize modern transportation system functioning in the World. The article calls attention on a chance for improving competitiveness of rail freight transportation in Poland thanks to developing high speed rail network. There is underlined also rationality of modernization of the rail line which connect the biggest cities in South part of Poland. The descriptive part of the article refers to the high speed rail system and its development conditions. The research part is a technical feasibility study about section Cracow – Katowice – Wroclaw and possibilities for adopting it to achieve high speed rail line parameters.

In the article there was presented the issue of monitoring the fuel consumption of the diesel engines, together with the simultaneous comparison of consuming the energy due to exploitation and non- exploitation needs. Such approach allows one to detect even minimal illegal fuel consumption from electric engines, as well as enables continuous monitoring of the engine work and its power requirements.

Industrial processes’ control systems based on PLC controllers play today a very important role in all fields of transport, including also sea transport. Construction of control systems is the field of engineering, which has been continuously evolving towards maximum simplification of system design path. Up to date the time needed for system construction from the design to commissioning had to be divided into a few stages. A mistake made in an earlier stage caused that in most cases the next stages had to be started anew. Modern software allows for quicker implementation of system design. Available debugging systems allow for defect detection at an early stage of project implementation. Application of additional protective devices will allow for remote diagnosing of the equipment state and introducing changes (depending on authorities granted). The paper presents general characteristic of integrated software for implementation of complex control systems. The issues related to the software use for programming of the visualisation environment, control computer, selection of transmission medium and transmission protocol as well as PLC controllers’ configuration, software and control have been analysed.

Opis:
In this article are presented results of trials of building an application based on probabilistic neural network, used to diagnose damages to the gear wheel teeth in the form of cracks at the base of the tooth. To determine the proper network learning process is necessary to get from the tested object numerous set of input data. Conducted researches are based on data obtained from the identified model of gear working in the drive system, which made it possible to acquire the necessary amount of data. In experiments was tested the usefulness of different sets of descriptors of teeth damages, constructed on the basis of vibratory signals, processed using the Wigner-Ville transform. Often the problem, which makes the proper learning of the neural classifiers impossible is the size of the network structure. Therefore, in further studies was examined the usefulness of genetic algorithms which task is selecting an input data for the artificial neural networks of PNN type.

The rapid urban development in recent years has been reflected not only by the change in structure and size of towns, but especially by the increase in population mobility, which is strongly reflected by the fact that urban centers are clogged with individual transport, therefore, experts are dealing with possibilities of alternative solutions. Traffic calming in cities is a process that reflects the pursuit for a new quality of life as well as applying modern transport solutions at European level. In practice, there are many different types of this process depending on the type of area, road and citizens’ requirements. Streets, plazas and other public places of towns and cities are the points where a large part of social life is taking place. These venues do not serve only transport but are the places where commuters, children, elderly people and disabled persons meet. Especially bicycle transport for its significant reach, readiness to ride, easy operation and relatively high cruising speed has the appropriate conditions for further successful development in centre of a city. Article outlines some of the principles of traffic calm and their impact on road safety.
