Opis:
One of the greatest problems of modern production techniques is the achievement of an appropriate quality at minimal costs and accompanied by the production efficiency increase. Therefore, while designing the production process, the technology used should have a considerable influence on the durability and reliability of machine parts to be produced. During finish treatment, the final dimensions as well as functional properties are imparted to a given element by application of proper treatment type. The engineer has a range of production techniques to choose for the proper surface layer formation. It is crucial to find a suitable solution which will meet the requirements as well as the work conditions of a given machine part. The article presents the research results of pump shaft pins finish turning. The research was performed on a roller 60 mm in diameter made of X5CrNi18-10 steel. The finish tooling of pump shaft pins was carry out on a universal CDS 6250 BX-1000 centre lathe. The finish lathing process was carried out by means of Sandvik Coromant cutting tool with replaceable inserts. In the research of lathing process used standard inserts (MF), inserts with increased tolerance (UM) and inserts with Wiper technology (WF). During lathing, the optimal machining parameters were used. The cutting process was performed at entering angle of 90°. The process of lathing used cutting tool dynamometer DKM 2010. During the research, the effect of cutting insert geometric and optimal cutting parameters on the surface roughness of steel applied to marine pumps shaft pins was determined.

Opis:
The issues concerning porosity of granular materials, especially plant materials, are considered very important matters in respect of their transport, storage, precise dosing, and tribological properties. The classic method of measuring porosity requires specialized equipment and takes time, thus often being of little use in dynamic production processes. Therefore, there is a growing need for developing new methods for fast porosity measurement. In the article, the authors present an attempt to define a correlation between the selected parameters of the surface texture of plant granular materials and their porosities. To digitize the surface, an optical 3D scanner and specialized software for analysis of the surface topography were used. The results should provide a basis for the development of innovative methods for measuring porosity based on digital image processing (DIA).
Uzyskane wyniki powinny dać podstawę do opracowania innowacyjnej metody pomiaru porowatości opartej o Digital Image Analysis (DIA).

This paper presents a comprehensive methodology for measuring and characterizing the surface topographies on machined steel parts produced by precision machining operations. The performed case studies concern a wide spectrum of topographic features of surfaces with different geometrical structures but the same values of the arithmetic mean height Sa. The tested machining operations included hard turning operations performed with CBN tools, grinding operations with Al2O3 ceramic and CBN wheels and superfinish using ceramic stones. As a result, several characteristic surface textures with the Sa roughness parameter value of about 0.2 μm were thoroughly characterized and compared regarding their potential functional capabilities. Apart from the standard 2D and 3D roughness parameters, the fractal, motif and frequency parameters were taken in the consideration.

Opis:
The processes of machining have vital influence on the operating properties of machine parts because they ensure the formation of the required geometrical structure of the working surfaces and the condition of the top layer. In this paper the influence of emulsion mist parameters on Ra, Rz and RSm surface roughness parameters is described when finishing the turning of C45 carbon steel. It was found that cutting parameters have considerably greater influence on roughness parameters in comparison with emulsion mist conditions. When increasing cutting speed from 100 to 300 m/min Ra and Rz values decrease nearly 2 times, but RSm value does not depend on speed. When increasing feed rate from 0.1 to 0.2 mm/rev Ra, Rz and RSm values increase more than twice. Changes of emulsion mass flow and compressed air flow affect roughness parameters reach 9–15% of maximum. It was shown that Parameter Space Investigation method can be used efficiently for quick analysis of tested parameters and optimization of their values.

Nowadays lot of scientific work inspired by industry companies was done with the aim to avoid the use of cutting fluids in machining operations. The reasons were ecological and human health problems caused by the cutting fluid. The most logical solution, which can be taken to eliminate all of the problems associated with the use of cooling lubricant, is dry machining. In most cases, however, a machining operation without lubricant finds acceptance only when it is possible to guarantee that the part quality and machining times achieved in wet machining are equalled or surpassed. Surface finish has become an important indicator of quality and precision in manufacturing processes and it is considered as one of the most important parameter in industry. Today the quality of surface finish is a significant requirement for many workpieces. Thus, the choice of optimized cutting parameters is very important for controlling the required surface quality. In the present study, the influence of different machining parameters on surface roughness has been analysed. Experiments were conducted for turning, as it is the most frequently used machining process in machine industry. All these parameters have been studied in terms of depth of cut (ap), feed rate (f) and cutting speed (vc). As workpiece, material steel S235 has been selected. This work presents results of research done during turning realised on conventional lathe CDS 6250 BX-1000 with severe parameters. These demonstrate the necessity of further, more detailed research on turning process results.

The paper presents functional relationships between surface geometry parameters, feedrate and vibrations level in the radial direction of the workpiece. Time characteristics of the acceleration of cutting tool vibration registered during C45 steel and stainless steel machining for separate axes (X, Y, Z) were presented as a function of feedrate f. During the tests surface geometric accuracy assessment was performed and 3D surface roughness parameters were determined. The Sz parameter was selected for the analysis, which was then collated with RMS vibration acceleration and feedrate f. The Sz parameter indirectly provides information on peak to valley height and is characterised by high generalising potential i.e. it is highly correlated to other surface and volume parameters of surface roughness. Test results presented in this paper may constitute a valuable source of information considering the influence of vibrations on geometric accuracy of elements for engineers designing technological processes.

The optimization of surface roughness values considered as one of the most significant issues regarding turning process of titanium alloys with the use of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) method. With such an aim in mind, the application of TOPSIS-AHP method is implemented in order to establish the most favourable cutting parameters for the following values of surface roughness: Ra, Rq and Rz in machining of titanium alloys regarding MQL conditions. The proposed methodology consists of the two stages. At the beginning, tests on turning process were performed on CNC lathe, taking feed rate, approach angle, and cutting speed as input parameters. Then, the TOPSIS-AHP method was applied on the given experimental data and the optimum machining parameters were determined. The findings from current investigations showed that, lower values of cutting speed, feed rate and middle value of approach angle shows the optimal results.

In the present work, the performance of multilayer coated carbide tool was investigated considering the effect of cutting parameters during turning of 34CrMo4 Low alloy steel. It has high strength and creep strength, and good impact tenacity at low temperature. It can work at –110°C to 500°C. And EN 10083-1 34CrMo4 owns high static strength, impact tenacity, fatigue resistance, and hardenability; without overheating tendencies. The objective functions were selected in relation to the parameters of the cutting process: surface roughness criteria. The correlations between the cutting parameters and performance measures, like surface roughness, were established by multiple linear regression models. Highly significant parameters were determined by performing an Analysis of variance (ANOVA). During the experiments flank wear, cutting force and surface roughness value were measured throughout the tool life. The results have been compared with dry and wet-cooled turning. Analysis of variance factors of design and their interactions were studied for their significance. Finally, a model using multiple regression analysis between cutting speed, fee rate and depth of cut with the tool life was established.
