In this paper, a new class of Hierarchical Residue Number Systems (HRNSs) is proposed, where the numbers are represented as a set of residues modulo factors of 2k š 1 and modulo 2k. The converters between the proposed HRNS and the positional binary number system can be built as 2-level structures using efficient circuits designed for the RNS (2k - 1, 2k, 2k +1). This approach allows using many small moduli in arithmetic channels without large conversion overhead. W pracy zostały przedstawione wyniki badań doświadczalnych i symulacji komputerowych metodą Lattice-Boltzmann przepływów płynów komórkowych w mikrokanałach układu lab-on-a-chip (LOC). Symulacje LBM przeprowadzono dla geometrii 2D (model 2DQ9), co wpłynęło na skrócenie czasu obliczeń, w istotny sposób zwiększając jednak ich błąd, który wahał się w szerokich granicach od 15 do ponad 100%.
Experimental and computer simulation results using the Lattice-Boltzmann method for fluid flows in microchannels of the lab-on-a-chip (LOC) device are presented in the paper. LBM simulations were performed for 2D geometry (2DQ9 model), allowing the shortening of simulation time but signifi¬cantly increasing the calculation error. The calculation error of fluid mean velocity ranged from 15 to over 100%.

Andrzej Kuropatnicki’ academic graphical thesisGraphical academic theses are a very interesting source due to its interdisciplinary nature and the richness of their ideological, political or artistic content. Nevertheless, a majority of “Polish theses” have not been properly examined or analysed by Polish researchers. This is also true for a highly valuable Kuropatnicki’s graphical thesis of 1682, being an apotheosis of King Jan III Sobieski as the victor of Chocim, and Prince Jakub as his successor on the throne, which for a long time had been known only in part. The discovery of the whole original thesis in the National Library in Prague made it possible a thorough and multi-faceted study of the source and to broaden the current knowledge on the subject. Using the hermeneutic approach, philological and comparative methods, together with the literature on the subject of history of arts, it was possible to present the authors of the graphic (the etcher and painter), its inspirer, and also its sophisticated scientific, ideological, artistic and socio-political context, which led to the printing and propagating of Kuropatnicki’s graphical thesis. In addition, the basic research terminology has been made uniform and some pioneering interpretations put forward.Kuropatnicki’s graphical thesis turned out to be an original and in many aspects innovative ideological and propagandist medium to glorify King Jan III Sobieski and his son in the iconography of the so-called “pre-Vienna epoch”. A prestigious representation of the king in the all’antica type ideally inscribed to both Sobieski’s personal political programme, and the state one, for it explicitly manifested pro-Habsburg and anti-Turkish sentiments in the Commonwealth at that time.

Celem artykułu jest analiza wychowania i wykształcenia księcia Michała Korybuta Wiśniowieckiego (1640–1660) oraz próba bliższego przyjrzenia się środowisku akademickiemu, w którym książę pobierał nauki. Dzięki analizie materiału źródłowego z polskich i czeskich zbiorów archiwalnych udało się uzupełnić stan wiedzy dotyczący młodości przyszłego elekta oraz wpływu jego wychowania na dalszą postawę społeczną i polityczną. Za główny obszar badań zostało przyjęte nieanalizowane dotychczas praskie środowisko akademickie, w którym książę przebywał cztery lata (1656–1660). Pobyt w Pradze oraz studia na Uniwersytecie praskim stanowią główną oś konstrukcyjną artykułu, prezentującego nieznane dotychczas fakty biograficzne z młodości księcia. Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki odebrał stosunkowo typowe wykształcenie dla swojego stanu społecznego. Jednakże w wyniku licznych zaniedbań ze strony opiekunów i protektorów, przede wszystkim królowej Ludwiki Marii, edukacja książęca była uboższa w treści mające przygotować go do piastowania wysokich funkcji w państwie. Wychowanie i edukacja przyszłego króla były niedostosowane do jego charakteru oraz potencjału, a także okazały się zbyt pryncypialne.

The following article concerns the Prague studies of Bolko V, Duke of Opole (died 1460), also known as the Hussite, the Heretic or Wołoszek. To be more precise, the article returns to the hypothesis concerning his studies in Prague, which were supposed to end with obtain‑ ing the bachelor degree (bachelor of liberal arts). To this end, the article focuses on the earlier findings of historians and enters a polemic with those sources (particularly the works of Maciej Woźny), which leads the author to completely new conclusions and allows him to disprove the earlier findings. The article establishes that the primary sources as well as Polish literature on the subject contributed to the creation of a historiographical myth (particularly due to the information included in Annales Glogovienses) regarding Duke Bolko V and his education, which stemmed from insufficiently critical approach to the source material and its selective use. Primarily, the issue concerns incorrect analysis of a writ of the Papal office, dating May 7, 1413, which was, according to Woźny, supposed to shed new light onto the subject, and which has been reinterpreted in the present article. Moreover, the confrontation of the earlier research findings with the source documents as well as Czech literature (particularly hitherto unused stu‑ dent registers and dean’s records of the Prague universities) did not allow to consider the Duke a student of a university in Prague. In light of the repeated analysis of the issue of the Prague studies of Bolko V, Duke of Opole and an interpretation of the archived primary sources, the author argues that it is impossible to substantiate the claim that Bolko V ever studied in Prague and obtained a bachelor’s degree (at least until new sources emerge).
In dem vorliegenden Artikel wird auf das Thema des Prager Studiums des Herzogs von Oppeln Bolko V. (gest. 1460), der auch der Hussit, Ketzer oder Wołoszek genannt wurde, ein‑ gegangen, genauer gesagt wird auf die Hypothese über sein Studium in Prag zurückgekommen, das mit dem Erwerb des Grades des Bakkalaureus (implizit: im Bereich der freien Künste) abgeschlossen werden sollte. Der Fokus liegt deshalb auf den bisherigen Erkenntnissen von Historikern und auf der Polemik mit ihnen (vor allem mit der Arbeit von Maciej Woźny), was völlig neue Schlussfolgerungen formulieren und vor allem auch die Thesen der früheren For‑ scher widerlegen lässt. Es ist gelungen festzustellen, dass die Quellen und die Literatur polni‑ scher Provenienz zur Entstehung eines historiographischen Mythos um den Herzog Bolko V. und seine Ausbildung (vor allem durch den Eintrag in Annales Glogovienses) führten, was auch indirekt aus der wenig kritischen Herangehensweise an das Quellenmaterial und aus seiner begrenzten Verwendung resultierte. Es handelt sich hier insbesondere um die falsche Analyse der Schrift der Papstkanzlei vom 7. Mai 1413, die (laut M. Woźny) ein neues Licht auf dieses Thema werfen sollte und dank diesem Artikel neu interpretiert wird. Darüber hinaus lässt die Gegenüberstellung der bisherigen Erkenntnisse der Forscher mit den Quellen und der Literatur tschechischer Provenienz (meist mit den bisher nicht verwendeten Studienurkunden und dem Dekanbuch der Prager Universitäten) nicht zu, den Herzog von Oppeln als einen Studenten der Prager Universität wahrzunehmen. In Anbetracht der erneuten Analyse des Themas des Prager Studiums des Herzogs von Oppeln Bolko V. und der Interpretation der erhaltenen Quellen wird angenommen, dass die These über das Studium des Herzogs in Prag und den von ihm erworbenen Grad des Bakkalaureus (zumindest bis zum Erscheinen der neuen Quellen, die den genannten Herzog betreffen) abgelehnt werden sollte.

The aim of this article is to analyze the upbringing and education of prince Michael Korybut Wiśniowiecki (1640–1660) and to look more closely at the academic environment where the prince supported the study. Analysis of the source material from the Polish and Czech archival collections has provided a complete state of knowledge of the young future elect, such as the influence of his upbringing on his further social and political attitudes.The main area of research has previously focused on the so far unanalyzed academic environment of Prague, where the prince spent four years (1656–1660). His stay in Prague and studies at the University of Prague constitute the main structural axis of article, which presents a previously unknown biographical facts of the prince’s youth. Michael Korybut Wiśniowiecki received a relatively standard education for his social status. However, as a result of negligence of his patrons and protectors, especially Queen Marie Louise, prince’s education was lower in content designed to prepare him from holding high-profile functions in the state. Upbringing and education of the Prince were inappropriate for his character and potential, and also proved to be too principled.
Celem artykułu jest analiza wychowania i wykształcenia księcia Michała Korybuta Wiśniowieckiego (1640–1660) oraz próba bliższego przyjrzenia się środowisku akademickiemu, w którym książę pobierał nauki. Dzięki analizie materiału źródłowego z polskich i czeskich zbiorów archiwalnych udało się uzupełnić stan wiedzy dotyczący młodości przyszłego elekta oraz wpływu jego wychowania na dalszą postawę społeczną i polityczną. Za główny obszar badań zostało przyjęte nieanalizowane dotychczas praskie środowisko akademickie, w którym książę przebywał cztery lata (1656–1660). Pobyt w Pradze oraz studia na Uniwersytecie praskim stanowią główną oś konstrukcyjną artykułu, prezentującego nieznane dotychczas fakty biograficzne z młodości księcia. Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki odebrał stosunkowo typowe wykształcenie dla swojego stanu społecznego. Jednakże w wyniku licznych zaniedbań ze strony opiekunów i protektorów, przede wszystkim królowej Ludwiki Marii, edukacja książęca była uboższa w treści mające przygotować go do piastowania wysokich funkcji w państwie. Wychowanie i edukacja przyszłego króla były niedostosowane do jego charakteru oraz potencjału, a także okazały się zbyt pryncypialne.
