Opis:
This paper presents a finite element simulation of a human lower limb in a full extension after a knee joint arthroplasty. Aside a total knee endoprosthesis Medin Modulár (size 76, right knee) provided by Medin Orthopedics, a.s., Czech Republic, two long bones, femur and tibia were used. As for a load, more than 30 most important muscles of the lower limb and 8 knee ligaments were disigned. Compared with our former results, this model gives reduced stress and contact pressures values which were given by more realistic ankle and hip joint definition. Their distributions correspond our former findings.

Opis:
The paper deals with a simulation by means of finite method of a natural lower limb after a knee joint arthroplasty in a full extension. Our last static model serving as a starting point for our future dynamic analysis is presented now. Aside a total knee endoprosthesis Medin Modular provided by MedinOrthopedics, a.s., two long bones, femur and tibia were used. Compared with our former results, this model gives reduced stress and contact pressures values which were given by more realistic ankle and hip joint definition. Their distributions also correspond better the experimental findings.

Opis:
This paper presents a finite element simulation of an oncology knee-joint endoprosthesis in a various degrees of flexion. The simulation has been made in accordance with an ISO 14243 [1-3]. A model of the knee implant (produces by ProSpon, s.r.o. [4]) consists of following parts: femoral stem, femoral replacement, femoral component, PE bushings, and tibial plateau. Results for four positions of flexion (1.53deg, 8.13deg, 15.31deg and 26.33deg) gave better understanding of strain and stress distribution along the endopros-thesis and pointed out also the most crucial areas requiring the attention. These foundlings are useful for individual design of the knee-joint prosthesis and for further development.

Opis:
This paper presents two FE simulations of an oncology knee-joint endoprosthesis. Firstly dynamic experiment-based analysis traditionally made on special knee simulator has been calculated. Another FE simulation of an oncology knee-joint endoprosthesis was made on a complex model based on previously developed geometric model of a lower limb. The presented paper aims to prove the potential of finite element method in biomechanics, especially in development of joint endoprosthesis.

P-T conditions of the Alpine regional metamorphism of carbonate successions which form the cover sequence of the southern Veporicum crystalline basement have been determined. The P-T estimates were calculated on the basis of microprobe chemical analyses of equilibrium mineral assemblages together with analyses of bulk rock chemical composition. The calibrated geothermic reactions Cal-Dol and Kfs-Phl were used. Geothermometric and geobarometric data were obtained using the SOLVCALC, TWQ and PERPLEX software programs in combination with phengite geobarometry. The metacarbonates were formed from a sedimentary-carbonate protolith in low-pressure and low-temperature conditions of greenschist facies in the kyanite stability field: TCalAb-Or

Opis:
When compared to steel or cast iron, carbon fibre composites offer excellent tensile and bending stiffness together with significantly smaller density. Research at the Research centre of Manufacturing Technologies in Prague has been aimed at the application of composite materials in structural parts design. Case studies on spindle rams were performed focusing on the design of experimental composite spindle rams and their benchmarking with reference steel components. The cross-section of both parts was 350x350mm and the length was 1200mm. The first design was made as a thick-walled composite body with a minimal amount of steel. The goal was to achieve static stiffness comparable to a reference steel component of the same size. The second design was manufactured as a hybrid structure composed of fibre composites with cork layers and bonded steel reinforcements. The goal was to improve damping of the structural parts in comparison with the steel components. Results of stiffness and modal properties were obtained from experiments and also using FEA. Experimentally obtained damping ratios of composite and reference steel rams were compared with and without the effect of connection interfaces on damping.

Opis:
This work presents results of an experimental study of the influence of the approach velocity on the coalescence of bubbles in aqueous solutions of n-octanol and α-terpineol. Experiments were performed in a coalescence cell allowing synchronized growth of a pair of bubbles in a liquid. High speed camera imaging was used to characterize the growth of bubbles and their interaction in aqueous solution of different concentrations of surfactants. The coalescence efficiency and contact time till coalescence were determined as a function of the approach velocity between bubbles and the concentration of surfactant. It was found that, for both surfactants, when the approach velocity between bubbles was higher than ~1 mm/s, the coalescence efficiency was independent of the approach velocity and that the contact time was independent of the concentration of surfactant. Below ~1 mm/s, both the coalescence efficiency and the contact time were the function of surfactant concentration. For the higher velocities, the suppression of coalescence occurred at concentrations similar to the concentration of immobilization of the surface of free rising bubbles.

4,6-Diazido-N-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine (TNADAzT) and its silver salt (AgTNADAzT) were prepared and characterized. Elemental analysis, FTIR, NMR, DSC, AAS and X-ray diffraction were used for analytical characterization. The sensitivities of TNADAzT and AgTNADAzT were determined and compared with common explosives and MTX-1. The crystal density of TNADAzT is 1.794 g·cm−3 and its heat of formation 899 kJ·mol−1. The sensitivity of TNADAzT to impact and friction slightly exceeds PETN; the sensitivity to electrostatic discharge is lower than RDX. The sensitivity of AgTNADAzT is on the level of a primary explosives (between mercury fulminate and PETN). The initiation efficiency of AgTNADAzT is higher than 200 mg (acceptor PETN compressed by 64-70 MPa) and therefore excludes it from practical use as a primary explosive in detonators.
