Opis:
Studies conducted among 1417 rural tourist accommodation facilities in Poland have shown that 966 of them have names for their service. Created names most often correspond to the profile of the business. A total of 130 objects specifically suggested that their product is the agritourism, using less sophisticated terms: agritourism, agritourism farm, gite, or expanding it by an additional element, usually referring to the owner’s name or surname, plants (clover) or the location of the facility (e.g. in a valley or on a peninsula). There were also names of rural tourism facilities which suggested surroundings of the homestead („Kraina trzech stawów”) or accentuated its regional affiliation („Czar Roztocza”). Owners often used their names to promote the tourism product for example: „U Basi”, U Zochy”, „U Kazika” or „U Kowalskich”. They were not innovative, as in the case of the names created of parts of owners’ names or surnames for example: „Czester”. 451 services on the web portal did not have any names, which may cause that their offer will not remain for long in the minds of the potential customers, or will not be noticed at all. It must be emphasized that giving proper, attractive and easy to remember name is an important marketing move that could bring success to tourism activities.

Natural landscape features are considered to be one of the most significant factors determining spatial distribution of tourist traffic in case of long-term holidays. This type of vacations seems to be crucial for economic impact of the tourism, as tourism multiplier points out accommodation as services with largest further turnover. Perception of the natural environment may be very subjective, however some of its elements can be easily measured and compared, thus may be treated as a specific determinant having influence on tourism. Therefore the paper is an attempt to find a statistical relationship, measured by correlation, between the size of forests, protected areas and surface of inland waters, as well as their share in the overall area of administrative units, and the number of beds in tourist accommodation establishments and their occupancy rate in years 2012 and 2014. The research area was Eastern Region of Poland (by NUTS 1 classification), which covers Podlaskie, Lubelskie, Podkarpackie and Świętokrzyskie provinces. The advantage of such delimitation is an analysis of areas with inner landscape diversification, from lake sites and plains in the north, through uplands and low hills in the center, to mountains in the south. Moreover, this region is also famous for the presence of numerous and varied forms of nature conservation. In the paper statistical measures were used and the main source of data were databases of Central Statistical Office of Poland.

W artykule omówiono przystosowanie bazy noclegowej do potrzeb osób niepełnosprawnych. Zawarte w nim informacje dotyczą wyposażenia obiektów zbiorowego zakwaterowania w cztery rodzaje udogodnień, ewidencjonowane w ramach statystyki publicznej. Są to: pochylnie wjazdowe, drzwi automatycznie otwierane, odpowiednio przystosowane windy oraz pokoje i łazienki. Na zasadniczą treść artykułu składają się analizy ilościowe, dotyczące występowania udogodnień w bazie noclegowej według rodzajów i kategorii, przystosowania obiektów noclegowych w układzie regionalnym oraz odpowiedniego wyposażenia pokoi i łazienek. Ponadto przedstawiono zmiany w przystosowaniu obiektów w okresie 2002-2009. Powyższe zagadnienia poprzedza omówienie podstawowych wymagań, które powinna spełniać baza turystyczna przystosowana do obsługi niepełnosprawnych*. ---------------------- *Artykuł opracowano na podstawie pracy wykonanej przez autora w Instytucie Turystyki w Warszawie, Jagusiewicz (2010).
In his article, the author discussed adjustment of the accommodation base to the needs of the disabled. The information contained in it concerns equipment of establishments of collective accommodation with the four types of facilities, being registered within the public statistics. These are: entrance slips, automatically opening doors, adequately adjusted lifts as well as rooms and bathrooms. The essential part of the article includes quantitative analyses concerning presence of facilities in the accommodation base by types and categories, adjustment of accommodation establishments in the regional profile and of adequate equipment of rooms and bathrooms. Moreover, there are presented alterations in establishments adjustment in the period of 2002-2009. The above-mentioned issues are preceded by a review of the essential requirements to be met by the tourist base adjusted to servicing the disabled.

In more detail there are described conference rooms and their occurrence in collective accommodation facilities.

This article presents the correlation between natural and non-natural tourism assets and the distribution of tourist accommodation in the 24 powiats (districts) of Łódź Province. The authors, having divided these assets into natural and non-natural, discusses their occurrence in individual powiats. Next, tourist accommodation in Łódź Province is described, along with a presentation of statistical data. An important part of the paper is the presentation of the research results obtained by means of the point bonitation method. At the final stage, Spearman rank correlation coefficients is calculated, showing the strength of the relationship between selected tourism assets and the distribution of tourist accommodation.

Lviv Oblast can be proud of most favourable conditions for the development of various forms of tourism. It is a region of unique environmental features, characterized both by lowlands and mountain ranges with large share of protected areas. Tourist functions of the region are proven by numerous cultural heritage sites, especially in such a centre as the city of Lviv. In Lviv there are over three thousand monuments, which makes it a unique “city – museum”, recognized by UNESCO within its list of World Heritage Sites. Lviv Oblast is one of the most important spa regions in Ukraine, with the main spa resort of Truskawiec, which has been recently undergoing a whole range of structural changes. For many years a deficit of tourist accommodation has been observed, both in Lviv itself and in other areas of the region. Another drawback is low quality of the offered services, which is caused by the low standard of available facilities.

The aim of the article is to present the results of the research involving identifying tourist attractiveness of selected small towns in Lower Silesia as well as comparing its level to the level of tourist function’s development in these towns. The study covered 10 out of 72 small towns in Lower Silesia. The study was based on data from 2014 to 2017. The authors use a two-dimensional indicator of the tourist function, they construct a synthetic indicator of tourist attractiveness, and then they compare obtained results for the analyzed small towns. The study demonstrates that tourist attractiveness of a small town depends on tourist values which were studied, but not just. According to the authors, the level of tourist flows is influenced additionally by: the attractiveness of the environment, tourists’ habits, information and marketing activities of specific towns and enterprises offering tourist-recreation accommodation and other tourist attractions, the state of the transport infrastructure and the quality of public transport links. The research procedure was conducted with use of descriptive methods, quantitative methods and graphics methods.

This study explores the two most popular travel websites: TripAdvisor, based fully on the Travel 2.0 and UGC application; and Booking.com, which has developed as an online travel agency website but has also absorbed a modern UGC approach. Their content concerning accommodation in Wrocław was analysed and compared to the official tourist statistics provided by both the Central Statistical Office of Poland, and the Central Register of Hotels and Similar Establishments published by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The article aims at an evaluation of the reliability and completeness of the information provided over the internet: firstly from the point of view of a potential customer, secondly for its value for market research purposes. Although electronic word-of-mouth websites are designed both for consumers and suppliers, from a methodological perspective the article is based on a content analysis of tourism social media. The study also contributes to both academic research and the tourism industry by identifying some gaps in existing work and providing an agenda for the future.

The main aim of the article is to present the importance of tourism in Polish regions within the Central European Transport Corridor CETC ROUTE 65. Four of Polish voivodeships (West Pomeranian, Lubusz, Lower Silesia and Opole) are signatories of CETC ROUTE 65. The tourist accommodation and its occupancy are examined, as well as tourist traffic in these four provinces. The analysis of tourism in the West Pomeranian region is the result of research, done under the development project titled ‘Research on and modelling of mode-integrated transport system in the West Pomeranian region with a focus on the Central European Transport Corridor North – South CETC ROUTE 65’, financed by the National Research and Development Centre in the years 2009–2011 and research project “Port logistic centres as stimulants of the development of ports, port towns and seaside regions. Research, modeling, concept of location, operations and management”, financed by the National Science Centre in the years 2011–2012. The research was co-ordinated by Czesława Christowa at the Maritime University of Szczecin.

The purpose of this article is to answer the question of whether the European Capital of Culture has an impact on the tourism in a region. The text is focused on 10 places, which was titled ECoC in 2009-2013. In the article are shown short presentations of all these 10 ECoCs, but statistical data refers to the regions of these cities (by NUTS 2 classification). Four different variables are analyzed – numbers of tourist establishments and bed-places and total numbers of nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments by residents and non-residents. To determine changes in these figures two kinds of indexes were used – chain and fixed base index. There is no denying that this analyze refers only to the small part of tourism sector, but even this kind of results may show same trends and be basis for some conclusions. Furthermore, even though limited dimension of research, this study can be especially interesting, because it refers to the issue of whole regions and this subject is rarely discussed topic.

Polskie miasta wkroczyły w okres transformacji systemowej zasobami w zakresie turystycznej bazy noclegowej odziedziczonymi po poprzednim systemie. Była ona wówczas na ogół niedoinwestowana, niskiej jakości i słabo rozwinięta pod względem ilościowym. Późniejsze zmiany wiązały się z dostosowywaniem tej bazy do potrzeb korzystających z noclegów. Zmiany jakościowe i ilościowe były regulowane przez mechanizmy rynkowe. W tym kontekście można rozpatrywać określone kierunki zmian oraz osiągnięty w danym czasie stan bazy noclegowej, który jest swego rodzaju wskaźnikiem atrakcyjności miasta, a także odzwierciedla stan przemian gospodarczych i funkcjonalnych. W pracy analizowane są zmiany w turystycznej bazie noclegowej największych miast województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego oraz ich stan od 1995 r. Podjęto też próbę zidentyfikowania i zweryfikowania charakteryzowanych w literaturze zagranicznej czynników warunkujących rozwój turystycznej bazy noclegowej na określonych przykładach. Uwzględniono zarówno czynniki ogólnogospodarcze, wynikające z sytuacji gospodarczej państwa i określonych wahań koniunktury (czynniki zewnętrzne - egzogeniczne) oraz wynikające z sytuacji danego miasta, m. in. charakteru i pełnionych przez nie funkcji (czynniki wewnętrzne - endogeniczne). Część tych czynników określono jako stymulanty, inne natomiast mają charakter destymulant, które zakłócają lub hamują rozwój bazy noclegowej, prowadząc do zatrzymania inwestycji, a niekiedy nawet do likwidacji obiektów.
Polish cities have entered the period of socio-economic transformation with tourist accommodation facilities inherited from the previous system. At that time, it was generally underinvested, of low quality and poorly developed in terms of quantity. Later changes were associated with adjusting this base to the needs of tourists. Qualitative and quantitative changes were driven by market mechanisms. In this context, it is possible to look at the specific directions of changes and the status of the accommodation in a given period of time, which can be used as an indicator of the attractiveness of the city and also reflects the state of economic and functional change. The paper presents an analysis of changes in tourist accommodation facilities of the largest cities of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship since 1995. An attempt was made to identify and verify, based on concrete examples, the factors of the development of tourist accommodation which are described in international literature. Both general economic factors, resulting from the economic situation of the state and certain macroeconomic fluctuations (external factors - exogenous) and those resulting from the situation of the specific city, including its character and functions (internal factors - endogenous) were taken into account. Some of these factors are referred to as stimulants, while others are destimulants that restrict or inhibit the development of accommodation facilities, leading to stopping investments, and sometimes even to the closure of existing facilities.

Tourism is an important part of life for all people, including those with disabilities.In the case of the latter, in addition to typical features such as – leisure, cognitive,educational, etc., tourism is also part of rehabilitation (physical rehabilitation, psychologicaland social), contributes to the openness to other people, facilitates acceptanceof disability, make disabled people believe in their own value, and often break out ofisolation - the same contributes to finding his place among “healthy” people. People withdisabilities, taking a tourist activity, much more often than people without the restrictions,encounter in a variety of barriers. Some of these barriers are common to people with variousdisabilities, others are linked to the type of disability. Most studies about disabledpeople tourism focuses on the discussion of barriers of tourist activity in this group. Thisarticle treats this issue in a different way - is an attempt to show that tourism is not onlya privilege for people without disabilities. The author presents ways to increase touristactivity of people with disabilities and shows ways for making the tourism area of activitymore accessible for them.

The aim of this article is to present opinions of the managers of tourist accommodation establishments in Wrocław on their economic benefits from being one of the host cities of the European Football Championship. The study confirmed the fact that the European Football Championship was an important event for tourism sector, especially for hotel industry. In the survey which was conducted six months before the event, the managers highlighted positive changes in the tourism sector caused by EURO 2012. They expected both shortand long-terms significant benefits. The results were compared with the first estimates of attendance and spending of tourists who stayed in Wrocław during the tournament. The initial data show that, as it was expected, the EURO 2012 tournament generated benefits for the accommodation sector of tourism industry in Wrocław and it will also generate further economic benefits in the future, contributing positively to tourism development in the city.
