Viral hepatitis is caused by viruses, the most important of which are hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). New discoveries and new therapeutic options result in better and better results of treatment. However, the public's awareness of the occurrence of these diseases and the detection of infections as soon as possible is still important, what is associated with better outcomes. In order to assess the basic knowledge about viral hepatitis among Polish society, an online survey spread throughout Poland and covering mainly young people was created. 2205 responses were collected and analyzed. On the basis of the results obtained, it can be concluded that Polish youth have little knowledge about viral hepatitis, what is associated with less awareness of the possibility of infection.

What if we treat persuasive communication in a non-standard way? What if instead of promoting our services we decide to show our manifesto of intolerance of rudeness? And what if we do it so accurately that it will replicate through social media? Standing out from media-marketing noise is difficult because of the multitude and multimodality of contemporary marketing communication. It is not easy to design original campaigns, neither it is to make them inspiring and worthy. It is a challenge to combine marketing with a subtle sense of humor. Indeed, mixing all these elements in the right proportions in order to maximize positive receptions and to make a campaign go viral to be watched millions of times is extremely rare. It is notable when such a commercial has been actually created to analyze it, particularly if a cursory analysis shows that its success – even today, in the digital age – is attributed to the primary marketing tool: a word. That is the secret of this year’s campaign of OLX website (the online marketplace). In the article it is argued that the popularity of OLX commercial video series “What if?” is based on rhetorical skills of its creators.
Trudno połączyć to z subtelnym poczuciem humoru.

As a country in which the increasing role of digital media and the internet is beginning to dominate interpersonal communication, the use of viral approach in marketing is also growing. The examples of most viral videos in Turkey from the previous years confi rm that the most important factor which determines the success of a viral message is its content, which should be at the same time attention-catching and entertaining. Nevertheless, the seeding strategy is the factor which accelerates the success of viral messages.

During reaction to stress caused by viral infection, RNA granules are formed in order to protect mRNA. Stress granules (SG) and processing bodies (PB) provide cell homeostasis and mRNA stability. They are formed, for example, during polio virus and MRV (mammalian orthoreovirus) infections. Some viruses, such as influenza virus and HTLV-1 (Human T-lymphotropic virus 1), block the formation of granules. In addition, there are viruses like West Nile Virus, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) or human Herpes viruses, which influence the functioning of the granules.

Introduction and aim. COVID-19 is a viral infectious disease, which was first reported in patients with unusual pneumonia in December 2019. However, as the pandemic progressed, extrapulmonary manifestations including various neurologic complications have been started to be increasingly reported. In this retrospective study, we tried to search the neurological complications seen in our patients with positive rRT-PCR test for COVID-19 and examine the underlying associated risk factors. Material and methods. We have retrospectively analyzed the neuroimaging studies performed in our patients with positive rRT-PCR test for COVID-19 between April, 2020 and August, 2021. Both computed tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imagings (MRI) of brain, head & neck region and the spine were retrospectively evaluated for the presence of any complications in patients with positive rRT-PCR test for COVID-19. Results. There were 147 patients having neuroradiological imaging studies performed for various neurological symptoms. Among these patients we detected 10 acute neurologicalcomplications. The most common was acute ischemic stroke in 5 patients and intracranial hemorrhage in 3 patients, two of which were intraventricular hemorrhage. The other complications included a preasumed cytotoxic lesion of corpus callosum in a 18 year old girl and lumbar spondylodiscitis complicated with psoas abcess in a 47 year-old man. Conclusion. In COVID-19 patients severe neurological complications can occur even as a presenting manifestation. Early cytotoxic endothelial injury can be the underlying cause in these patients and should be further studied in larger series in terms of what the susceptibility factors in these patients.

Opis:
Natural killer (NK) cells play a major role in the initial control of many viral pathogens and in the rejection of tumors. Consistent with their roles as immune sentinels, NK cells are found in inflamed skin, including lichen planus, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) lesions. In oral lichen planus lesions, the recruitment as well as intradermal colocalization of NK cells and pDC (plasmacytoid dendritic cells) appear to be mediated by chemerin, a recently identified protein ligand for chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), a chemoattractant receptor expressed by both cell types. Dendritic cells can regulate NK cell activity, and NK cells can regulate DC-mediated responses. Since chemerin was recently implicated in recruitment of pDC to psoriatic skin, in this work we determined whether chemerin facilitates interactions between NK and pDC in psoriatic plaques through controlling influx of NK cells to diseased skin. We demonstrate that circulating NK cells from normal donors as well as psoriasis and AD patients respond similarly in functional migration assays to chemerin. However, differences in the distribution of NK cells and pDC in skin lesions suggest that recruitment of both NK cells and pDC is unlikely to be controlled solely by chemerin.

Opis:
Over the past three decades, under the infl uence of the development of electronic techniques and changes in the awareness of media recipients arising from the freedom of speech, reportage has evolved and a new genre, i.e. a viral article, has occurred. After 1989, reporters, relishing the hint of freedom, began to depart from the habits of the passing (authoritarian) epoch and make changes to the poetics of the genre. These changes concern the following spheres: the topic taken up by reporters; the form (structure, shape); the language; the reporter’s attitudes; the media. Before 1989, journalistic texts had been addressed to the educated reader who was able to understand many overtones, understatements, and hints, and currently, authors of reportages and viral articles talk about the reality and the world surrounding them in a straightforward manner, apply the simplest stylistic solutions and devices in order to fi nd the shortest way to the recipient’s imagination, and thus to the largest possible group of readers.

Most indigenous people have acquired expertise in the use of medicinal plants, but information on the utilization of the medicinal plants are poorly documented. Thus, this study deals with the ethnobotanical survey of medicinal plants used in treating viral infections in Saki West Local Government Area, Oyo State. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and oral interviews to acquire information from selected members of Saki West Local Government Area. A total of sixty (60) structured questionnaires were given randomly to respondents in the selected villages in the study area. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The finding shows that the majority of the respondents were females (61.7%). Moreover, 50 % of the respondents were from the age group of 31 to 40 (also the largest group). In addition, a majority (88.3%) of the respondents were married, and only a few (16.7%) had no formal education. Furthermore, the major occupation of the respondents was herb selling (35.0%). The findings on the various plant parts utilized for herbal medicine indicated that the leaves, stem bark and whole root were the most commonly used parts. Most of the respondents also prepared herbal medicine by decoction. What is more, oral ingestion (drinking) was found to be the most (70.0%) preferred mode of administration in the study area. Finally, the major problem encountered while acquiring medicinal plants was wild animal threat. This work indicated that there is a need for an ethnobotanical survey in every state of the nation on the medicinal plants used in the treatment of viral infection.

Ebola is a severe, acute viral disease, characterized by the sudden onset of fever, vomiting, and profuse diarrhoea, leading to severe dehydration, haemorrhagic diathesis, significant blood loss, shock, often with a fatal outcome. The disease is transmitted by either direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids of live or deceased infected people. Transmission may also occur by unprotected sexual contact or by direct contact with the blood or body fluids of animals. Before 2013, the maximum number of infected people in a single outbreak of Ebola was 425. This figure was significantly exceeded during the largest wave of Ebola that began in December 2013 in West Africa. The epidemiological situation is being closely monitored by the states of the European Union. The World Health Organization has issued recommendations for travellers to countries affected by the Ebola virus.

Opis:
Poland is an important horseradish grower in Europe, therefore the problems concerning its cultivation and diseases are considered vital. Horseradish diseases can be classified as non-infectious and fungal, bacterial or virus origin. The most important fungal disease is white-rust caused by Albugo candida, which can be responsible for up to 50% loss of yield, in the case of heavy infection. Bacterial diseases are not very important now. Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV), arabis mosaic virus (AMV) and tomato black ring virus (TBRV) were found so far on horseradish in Poland. The most important is TuMV, which was found in almost 100% collected horseradish samples and caused yield loss about 40%. The virus TuMV belongs to the Potyvirus genus (VC57.0.1) from the Potyviridae family (VC57), which is the largest family of plant viruses. It infects many economically important plants. Attempts to eradicate TuMV by means of thermotherapy proved ineffective. At the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops, methods of obtaining TuMV-free horseradish plants (together with methods of its fast multiplication) have been developed in in vitro cultures.

Introduction: The number of occupational diseases (OD) recorded in Poland in the 1990's rapidly increased, and the numer of recognized cases has steadily decreased until now. Hence, it was decided to demonstrate the trends of selected pathologies which in Poland are "underestimated" in comparison to other countries. The presented data may constitute a basis for further research into the dependence of OD on socio-economic factors. Materials and Methods: Occupational Disease Reporting Forms, completed and sent obligatorily by the state health inspectors to the Central Register of Occupational Diseases were used as source documents for analysis. This work analyzes changes in the incidence of chronic poisonings, asbestosis, voice organ diseases, cancers, viral hepatitis, asthma and the musculoskeletal disorders over the years 1998-2011. Results: In 1998, the total number of registered diseases reached the maximum - 12,017 cases, which fell in the subsequent years to 2,562 cases in 2011. During that period, the incidence rate decreased by 6 cases per year per 100,000 employees. A considerable decrease, exceeding 90% of cases, was observed in voice organ disorders, hearing loss, chronic poisonings and viral hepatitis. The abovementioned changes, as well as improved detection of asbestos-related diseases through implementing a medical examination program of former asbestos processing plant workers, are advantages of the current situation in the epidemiology of OD. However, the disadvantages include underestimation, in comparison to other countries, of asthma, cancer and pathologies of the musculoskeletal system. Conclusion: The reported data indicates the need to assess the occupational fraction of the underestimated pathologies present in the work environment in Poland, as well as the need for studies aimed at clarifying the effect of systemic factors on identifying their occupational background.

Opis:
RNA silencing is one of the important phenomenon in plant defense mechanism, it actively protect host plants against viral infections. Existing viruses must have developed counter defense strategies to survive this arms race. Such counter defense strategy is the viral silencing suppressor (VSRs) which have been reported to directly interfere with the various steps leading to the interference of viral RNAs. Most identified VSRs are multifunctional, besides being RNA-silencing suppressors, they often perform essential roles by functioning as coat proteins, helper components for viral transmission, replicases and movement proteins, proteases or transcriptional regulators. One such identified VSR is AC4 of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus strain. Trivial knowledge about the structure –function relationship of this VSR leads to this work, where we focus on the structure generation by modelling to identify the mode of interactions with the various effector molecules of the silencing pathways. Structural analyses have been performed to screen interacting residues. Results indicate conserved structural features which signify propensity of functional interactions and further shows that this VSR can be a potent tool for the analysis of RNA silencing mechanisms and the relationships between different silencing pathways and VSRs.
