Na prestiż zawodu inżyniera pracowali wybitni inżynierowie współpracujący z biznesmenami obdarzonymi wyobraźnią. Kształcąc przyszłych inżynierów z zastosowaniem e-technologii warto wiedzieć na czym polega unikalność kształcenia inżynierów i czy stosowanie e-technologii może nam w tym pomóc. Pomóc utrzymać prestiż tego zawodu. W pracy przedstawiono najważniejsze zadania inżyniera i zestawiono je z oczekiwaniami wyrażonymi w Polskich Ramach Kwalifikacji. Pokazano unikalność procesu projektowania obiektów i procesów technicznych wśród oczekiwanych umiejętności absolwentów wyższych uczelni. Wskazano też różnicę między techniką a technologią, w tym również e-technologią. Zasygnalizowano również istotne zagrożenie dla dobrego kształcenia przyszłych inżynierów jakim jest słaby kontakt uczelni technicznych ze środowiskiem gospodarczym.
The prestige of the profession of engineer is a result of work of eminent engineers who cooperated with businessmen gifted with imagination. When educating future engineers with the usage of e-technology it is good to know what is the uniqueness of engineering education and if e-technology can be helpful in this process. In this paper, there were identified most important tasks of an engineer and they were compiled with the expectations expressed in The Polish Qualifications Framework. It was shown that the process of designing objects and processes is a unique expectation towards university graduates. The difference between technique and technology (including e-technology) was indicated as well. It was also signaled, that poor cooperation between technical universities and business is a real danger for good education of future engineers.

W kwestii zatrudnionych w sektorze nauki uwzględniono kontekst Unii Europejskiej.
The article presents the scientific careers of women in science and technical science in Poland in the years 2001-2010, presented on the level of employment in higher education institutions, in other research institutions, as well as degrees and scientific titles obtained by women. As far as employees in the sector of science are concerned, the context of the European Union was taken into account.

Na tle uwzględnionych w projekcie zagadnień prezentowane są kariery akademickie kobiet posiadających tytuł profesora lub zajmujących takie stanowisko w uczelni technicznej. Wywiady przeprowadzone przez autorkę koncentrowały się wokół następujących kwestii: motywów podjęcia pracy naukowej, kluczowych decyzji dla tej kariery, uzyskanych stopni i tytułów naukowych oraz działalności zawodowej pracowników akademickich.
The author of the article examines the academic careers of women, taking as a starting point the data presented in the report prepared under the project “Regional foresight for the universities of Warsaw and the Mazovia region «Academic Mazovia 2030»”. In the background of issues included in the project, academic career of women holding the title of Professor, or holding such a position in a Technical University, are presented. Interviews carried out by the author were focused around the following issues: motives for starting scientific work, key decisions for this career, obtained degrees and scientific titles and Professional activity of academics.

Szeroki zakres kompetencji społecznych nauczyciela pozwala mu na wywieranie wpływu na uczniów w różnego rodzaju sytuacjach społecznych. Powstawanie i rozwijanie się kompetencji możliwe jest dzięki zdolności przetwarzania informacji behawioralnych – tzw. inteligencji społecznej [Argyle 1994]. Natomiast realizowane podczas pozalekcyjnych zajęć aktywności dają uczniom większą swobodę w samodzielnym poszukiwaniu rozwiązań, projektowaniu działań i odpowiadaniu na problematyczne kwestie bez angażowania nauczyciela w podawanie gotowych odpowiedzi i rozwiązań. Celem badań było podniesienie poziomu kompetencji społecznych studentów i uczniów szkół podstawowych poprzez uczestnictwo w interdyscyplinarnych warsztatach edukacyjnych. Wykazano, że uczestnicy badań dostrzegają konieczność organizowania tego typu zajęć w celu kształtowania odpowiedniego podejścia do współczesnych problemów naukowych i cywilizacyjnych.
A wide field of teacher's social competencies allows to influence the pupils in different kinds of social situations. Creating and development of competencies is possible through the ability of information behavioral process – so-called social intelligence [Argyle 1994]. While, extra-curricular activities give pupils freedom in independent searching of solutions, design activities and responding to problematic issues without teacher commitment in the giving of finished answers and solutions. The aim of the research was to raise the level of social competencies of the students and the primary school pupils through participation in the interdisciplinary educational workshops. The results showed that participants of the research recognize the need to organize such activities – in their opinion it's important in shaping an appropriate approach to the contemporary science and civilization problems.

Ustala się znaczenie analizy matematycznej i analizy wymiarowej w fizyce. Odsłania się stosunek metrologii do fizyki oraz do rozumowania abstrakcyjnego. Przedstawia się uściślanie nauk ścisłych jako przedmiot nauk humanistycznych, jak i ustala znaczenie heurystyki w rozwoju badań naukowych, błędnie przedstawianej w podręcznikach akademickich. Praca jest kontynuacją metody analizy wymiarowej Weisskopfa (Science 187, 1975). Poddaje się precyzyjnej analizie podstawy fizyki lepkości i równanie Stokesa. Pokazuje się znaczenie heurystyki matematycznej i aparatury matematycznej w badaniach empirycznych nad ruchem w cieczy ciał o różnym kształcie oraz sens aproksymacji, idealizacji i strukturę języka opisu w hydrotechnice i fizyce lepkości. Rekonstruuje się znaczenia terminów teoretycznych i empirycznych oraz praw idealizacyjnych w wiskozymetrii i technice dla ciał o nieregularnym kształcie.
The significance of mathematical and dimensional analyses is settled. The relation of metrology both to physics and abstract reasoning is revealed. The example of viscosimetry is used to continue the making of science to be more precise and the role of heuristics in the development of scientific investigations is pointed out. Usually these topics are presented in textbooks in an improper way. The article is also the prolongation of the dimensional analysis method given by Weisskopf (Science, 187, 1975). Especially the foundations of viscosity physics and Stokes's equation are examined scrupulously. The following are reconstructed: mathematical heuristics and mathematical conceptual apparatus in the empirical research of various shape bodies moving in fluids as well as the idealisation and language structure of the phenomenal description in hydrotechnics and viscosity physics.

The aim of this paper is to describe a genre that is gaining importance in contemporary humanities, and especially in its areas devoted to digital media – the technical report. Technical reports are discussed as part of the larger trend of open notebook science. This form of communication draws from experiences worked out in the field of technology, computer science and science. In this understanding technical reports are a genre of gray literature, a form dedicated to communicating results of research projects conducted by laboratories. The case study discussed in this text is devoted to a series of technical reports from the MIT Trope Tank lab, which are interpreted in the light of a manifestotext for this form of communication, Beyond the Journal and the Blog. The Technical Report for Communication in the Humanities, published by Nick Montfort. One of the aims of the article is also to contextualize technical reports against the background of other forms and methods of communication in laboratories from the field of contemporary humanities (including blogs, brochures, lab notebooks).

A series o f well-known histories and bibliographies o f technical writings in English begin from the premise that start with A Treatise on the Astrolabe by the English poet Geoffrey Chaucer. Nevertheless, it can be shown that there is a notable tradition o f practical technical writings - translations and adaptations o f Latin and Arabic sources - both in Old and Middle English, which pre-date or are contemporary with Chaucer’s. A number o f their characteristics, especially structural, seem to anticipate similar traits o f contemporary scientific and technical discourse.

Introduction/Background: The knowledge-based economy in Poland and the United States (USA) requires highly trained engineering professionals to stay competitive and to secure economic development. In recent years, some initiatives have been undertaken to better prepare high school graduates for engineering and technology-related programs. One of these initiatives has been the creation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) high schools in Rybnik, Poland, and Hazleton, Pennsylvania (PA), USA. Aim of the Paper: The comparative analysis of the curriculum was conducted by selecting two similar high schools, one in Hazleton, PA, USA, and one in Rybnik, Poland. The purpose of this research project was to identify the similarities and differences in the curricula at both high schools. Materials and Methods: The authors of this article have firsthand experience with the curricula at both high schools. Both curricula are available in their respective catalogs. A comparative analysis of the curricula was done by identifying the best practices in both countries. Dual enrollment opportunities available to high school students in PA, is also discussed. Results and Conclusions: This paper describes the different methods used for promoting interest in engineering and technology among high school students. These initiatives are necessary to provide a highly qualified workforce to meet the demands of the knowledge-based economy. This paper includes a comparative analysis of the STEM-oriented high school curricula in Poland and the USA.

Konstruktivistický přístup zdůrazňuje, že neexistuje absolutní pravda. V českém školství se bohužel potýkáme s jevem, že veškeré informace získávají žáci jako definitivní. Dochází k memorování definic, což ukazuje možnosti zapamatování, ale nedokládá logické myšlení žáků a propojení znalostí a dovedností s reálným životem. Konstruktivismus umožňuje učení na základě organizace myšlenek a získávání zkušeností. Konstruktivistická teorie se v reálné výuce promítá v badatelsky orientované výuce, kdy mají žáci řešit úkol formou problémového vyučování. V příspěvku je demonstrován nástin podpory přírodovědných a technických předmětů na Ostravské univerzitě s využitím měřících sad, robotických stavebnic a dalšího vybavení v rámci projektu Okna vědy dokořán
The constructivist approach emphasizes that there is no absolute truth. In the Czech education is unfortunately experiencing a phenomenon that all information obtained by the pupils as definitive. There is memorizing definitions, indicating the possibility of memorization, but does not show the logical thinking of pupils and connecting knowledge and skills to real life. Constructivism allows learning organizations based on ideas and gaining experience. Constructivist theory in the real education is reflected Inquiry Based Science Education where pupils have to solve problems. The paper demonstrates the outline of promoting science and technical subjects at the University of Ostrava using measuring sets, robot kits and other equipment by project “Okna vědy dokořán”.

Committee of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Polish Academy of Sciences (KEiT PAN) has been acting on behalf of scientific community in Poland since 1960. The article presents structure, statutory tasks, and Committee activities on behalf of the integration and development of electronics and telecommunications sciences and technology in Poland. The Committee of Electronics and Telecommunications of PAS is all the time an active participant of research life in the country. However, this participation is different than it used to be, and all the time is subject to intense changes. The authors present critically the current status of the Committee, but also undertake an effort to newly define the role, activity and potential of KEiT PAN, in completely new conditions of doing research in Poland, Europe and worldwide, than it was at that time, when the PAS Committees were originally defined. The conclusions, upon possible acceptance by the national research and technical communities of electronics and telecommunications, may possibly serve to change and/or optimise the work of the Committee in the near future.

Opis:
Since the beginning stock exchanges used a variety of technologies. However, technological innovation was constrained by the exchange members who accepted only solution that does not infringe the sources of their income. Over time, environmental conditions have forced gradual electronisation of stock exchange. It was connected with profound transformations in the functioning of stock exchanges - change forms of investment, disintermediation and demutualization of stock exchanges, the development of OTC markets. Changes in functioning rules of stock exchanges caused numerous effects, a positive-increase liquidity and transparency of securities markets, expanding investment opportunities-as well as negative, mainly associated with greater risk of financial crises.
