Opis:
The article presents the basic mathematical theory of the operational calculus of the L1-impulses in the discrete time domain. It presents the isomorphism between the rational function set of complex variable and the exponential L1 impulses set of positive and negative time domain. The paper shows how for any factorization of the rational function consisting of casual and noncasual parts can be directly obtained the N – periodic version of the original signal using for the individual components of the L1 impulses N – copy formula. It is done by the distribution of the convolution – the type admitance operator Y of electrical circuit to the two commutative convolution operators and on this basis is obtained the distribution of electrical circuit current to two components: the active current and the reactive current in the discrete time domain using the cyclic convolutions. The distribution of current in the time domain for signals significantly different from the sinusoidal is much more favorable than the distribution in the frequency domain.

W artykule przedstawiono konieczność wprowadzenia tematyki ekolingwistycznej do nauczania języka ojczystego.
The paper presents the necessity of implementing ecolinguistic topics into L1 teaching. It takes Instagram posts of Czech, Polish and Slovak influencers as an example and shows that manipulation techniques overreach the boundaries of countries and languages. If we accept the thesis that manipulation is dominantly a non-ecological phenomenon, which threatens the life of wider ecosystems, the reaction of school is inevitable, especially because children and youth form a highly vulnerable group.

Opis:
The present study, in the form of a questionnaire, aims to analyse students’ subjective perception of directionality in translation. Additionally, it places a particular emphasis on the aspects which are perceived as difficult in each direction. Although for most students, L2 translation is more cognitively demanding, and they prefer to translate into L1, such preferences may change as the result of the amount of translation training. Students with a longer span in translation training frequently encounter more problems in L1 translation and may not have any preferred direction of translation. Nevertheless, the importance of practicing translating into L2 has been emphasized in many aspects, like expanding L2 competence or translation market demand; additionally, it is also a preferred language of translation for some students. Vocabulary and terminology have been described as the most problematic in both directions of translation. Other aspects which pose many problems and require some training are both L1 and L2 grammar as well as punctuation.

In the present investigation, 15 first term university students were faced with 80 context-based idioms in English (L2) and Swedish (L1) respectively, 30 of which were in the source domain of animals, commonly used in both languages, and asked to explain their meaning. The idioms were of varying frequency and transparency. Three main research questions were thus addressed:1. How well do students master idioms in their L2 as compared to their L1?2. How do (a) degrees of transparency, (b) idiom frequency and (c) the choice of source domain affect students’ L1 and L2 comprehension?3. To what extent is context used when interpreting L1 and L2 idioms? Results show that while the frequency of an idiom does not appear to play a part in whether it is comprehended or not in either language, the degree of transparency is of great importance in students’ L2. Also, students make extensive use of context in their L2.

Given a graph G and a vertex coloring c, G is called l-radio connected if between any two distinct vertices u and v there is a path such that coloring c restricted to that path is an l-radio coloring. The smallest number of colors needed to make G l-radio connected is called the l-radio connection number of G. In this paper we introduce these notions and initiate the study of connectivity through radio colored paths, providing results on the 2-radio connection number, also called L(2, 1)-connection number: lower and upper bounds, existence problems, exact values for known classes of graphs and graph operations.

Opis:
This paper investigates native and non-native speech rhythm in the speech of Polish learners of English at an intermediate/upper-intermediate level. More specifically, it attempts to explore the relationship between rhythm measures scores in L1 Polish and L2 English within individual speakers. Phonological vowel reduction in terms of duration is present in English and crucial for the perception and acoustic measurements of linguistic rhythm. Polish, on the other hand, has no phonological reduction of that kind. The acquisition of L2 vowel reduction is highly determined by the level of language proficiency and influences non-native rhythmic patterns. The study tests six speech rhythm measures: %V, ΔV, ΔC, VarcoV, VarcoC and nPVI-V in two tempos: normal and fast. The results show that most of these measures are positively and significantly correlated with each other between L1 Polish and L2 English across the subjects and for two tempos, although to a different degree. Highly significantly correlation has been noted for %V and ΔC in fast tempo. Moderate significant correlations between the two languages are observed for ΔV, ΔC (normal tempo), VarcoV and nPVI in fast tempo.

In the bovine genome we found two intrachromosomal DNA fragments flanked by inverted telomeric repeats (GenBank Accession Nos. AF136741 and AF136742). The internal parts of the fragments are homologous exclusively to the human sequences and to the consensus sequence of the L1MC4 subfamily of LINE-1 retrotransposons which are widespread among mammalian genomes. We found that distribution of homologous human sequences within our fragments is not random, reflecting a complicated pattern of insertion mechanisms of and maintenance of retrotransposons in mammalian genomes. One of the possible explanations of the origin of LINE-1 truncated elements flanked by inverted telomeric repeats in the bovine genome is that extrachromosomal DNA fragments may be modified by telomerase and subsequently, transferred into chromosomal DNA.

This paper proposes a model for the analysis of spelling mistakes that Slovene speakers make in written production in Italian as FL/L2. This model is based on a grid produced by other authors and adapted for the specific needs of the present research. The grid comprises four categories: phonological errors, non-phonological errors, phonetic errors, and punctuation errors. Each category is further divided into sub-categories. The aim of the research is to discover which category yields more errors and what their origin is, in order to propose scientific bases for improvements in teaching Italian to Slovene students. The conclusion is that students and teachers have to deal with first-language interference as well as negative transfer from English as FL/L2, another foreign language that students acquire, and universal strategies comprising generalisation, simplification, and regularisation.
Ogni categoria è ulteriormente suddivisa in sottocategorie.

Opis:
Background: 3T3-L1 preadipocyte is the most commonly used cell line in in vivo studies of obesity. One of the main concerns in 3T3-L1 preadipocyte culture is microorganism contaminations. The objective of this study was to determine the appropriate antibiotics to prevent contaminations in 3T3-L1 cultures. Method: This study used descriptive analysis. Frozen 3T3-L1 preadipocytes were thawed and cultured in DMEM-10% FBS-1% penicillin-streptomycin, DMEM-10% FBS-1% penicillin-streptomycin-fungiezone, or DMEM-10% FBS-0.2% ciprofloxacin 200 mg/100 ml. After 24-hour incubation, the cells were observed under the microscope for any change in the medium colour, presence of abnormal structures, and abnormality in cell morphology. Results: The usage of 1% penicillin-streptomycin, 1% penicillin-streptomycin-fungiezone, or 0.2% ciprofloxacin 200 mg/100 ml maintained the clean medium and conserved normal fibroblast-like morphology of the cells. Conclusion: This study suggested that 1% penicillin-streptomycin, 1% penicillin-streptomycin-fungiezone, or 0.2% ciprofloxacin 200 mg/100 ml can be utilized in 3T3-L1 preadipocyte cultures to prevent contaminations.

Since the trigonometric Fourier series of an integrable function does not necessarily converge to the function in the mean, several additional conditions have been devised to guarantee the convergence. For instance, sufficient conditions can be constructed by using the Fourier coefficients or the integral modulus of the corresponding function. In this paper we give a Hardy-Karamata type Tauberian condition on the Fourier coefficients and prove that it implies the convergence of the Fourier series in integral norm, almost everywhere, and if the function itself is in the real Hardy space, then also in the Hardy norm. We also compare it to the previously known conditions.

Sekwencje LINE należą do grupy ruchomych elementów genetycznych w genomach eukariotycznych.
LINE transposons (Long Interspersed Nuclear Elements) are mobile, endogenous genetic elements widespread in eukaryotic genomes. Their ability to spread out with help of reverse transcriptase by using RNA intermediates indicates that they belong to autonomous retrotransposons. Original element is transcribed, then RNA undergoes reverse transcription and as a DNA fragment it is inserted into another part of the genome. Despite of the presence of over 500.000 of their copies in the human genome, majority of LINEs became inactive due to structural changes during the process of evolution. Sequences that retained their original function, play an important role in organization and functioning of genomes. Their activity results in destabilization of a genome structure, as a result of de novo insertions of LINEs and changes caused by homologous recombination between them. They can cause changes in the level of gene expression by interfering with alternative splicing (resulting in exon skipping or selecting cryptic splice sites), generating polyadenylation signals or providing alternative promoters. LINE retrotransposition is active mainly during the early stages of embryogenesis. In normal somatic cells this process is silenced by epigenetic mechanisms. Changes in DNA methylation levels of these elements is one of the main indicators of their activity associated with multiple genetic diseases. Correlations between LINE activity and multiple forms of neoplasms are mostly described in this paper.
