Introduction and objective. E2F transcription factor 2 (E2F2) protein is the transcription factor that plays an important role in tumorigenesis. E2F2 effects the cell cycle, tumor suppressor proteins, and can also be transformed by proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. The objective of the study is to provide a summary of the current knowledge on the neoplastic pathways that involve E2F2. State of knowledge. Numerous studies have demonstrated a role for E2F2 in various signaling pathways. Certain components of these pathways may serve as potential targets for oncological therapy. E2F2 has been shown to be associated with neoplasms of various locations and histological types (breast, colon, gastric, laryngeal, liver, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers). Conclusions. Further investigations of E2F2 pathways are warranted for a clearer understanding of neoplastic processes and to identify novel pharmacological treatments.

Tactical ad-hoc networks are evolving today towards complex heterogeneous networks in terms of architecture, protocols and security. Due to the difference in network resources and reliability, end-to-end quality of service provisioning becomes very challenging. If we also take into account communication issues such as unpredictable connectivity, preferential forwarding for special traffic classes, intermittency due to node or communication link failure, the problem is further aggravated. In this article, we examine the major challenges that must be solved in order to provide efficient QoS provisioning in the heterogeneous network. Finally we describe QoS-aware mechanisms for inter-domain and intra-domain heterogeneous networks, also including real-time services provision in highly mobilr environments.

Opis:
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used in the management of acute and chronic pain. Conditions treated in this way include rheumatic diseases, and particularly degenerative disease, which is the third most common chronic disease in the general population. Selection of a NSAID requires consideration of several factors, e.g. patient’s age, type of pain (acute or chronic), coexisting diseases and concomitant medication. The incidence of degenerative disease increases with age, reaching 50–60% in persons over 75. In this age group, a frequent occurrence are comorbidities and comedications, which may considerably limit or even preclude systemic administration of NSAIDs. These patients may require – as first-line agents – topically administered NSAIDs. Ketoprofen gel provides the strongest analgetic and anti-inflammatory effect and a favourable safety profile. As concentration of the active substance in the skin, cartilage and meniscus is high and low in blood serum, ketoprofen is also recommended in the treatment of trauma pain.
Niesteroidowe leki przeciwzapalne są bardzo często stosowane w leczeniu bólu ostrego i przewlekłego. Wśród chorób, w których znajdują zastosowanie, wymienia się między innymi choroby reumatyczne, a szczególnie chorobę zwyrodnieniową, która jest trzecią co do częstości chorobą przewlekłą występującą w populacji ogólnej. Przy wyborze niesteroidowych leków przeciwzapalnych należy brać pod uwagę wiele czynników, takich jak wiek pacjenta, rodzaj choroby, rodzaj bólu (ostry, przewlekły), występowanie schorzeń współistniejących oraz leki przyjmowane przez chorego. Częstość choroby zwyrodnieniowej wzrasta z wiekiem – występuje ona u około 50–60% osób >75. roku życia. W tej grupie wiekowej często występują również inne schorzenia i przyjmowane są leki, które w istotny sposób mogą ograniczać lub uniemożliwiać stosowanie ogólne niesteroidowych leków przeciwzapalnych. U takich chorych zalecane są przede wszystkim – w pierwszej linii – niesteroidowe leki przeciwzapalne podawane miejscowo. Ketoprofen w żelu cechuje największa siła działania przeciwbólowego i przeciwzapalnego oraz duży profil bezpieczeństwa. Ponieważ stężenie tego leku w postaci żelu w skórze, chrząstce stawowej i łąkotce jest duże, a w surowicy krwi małe, ketoprofen jest również zalecany w bólach urazowych.

The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2E 2 (UBE2E2) gene plays an important role in insulin synthesis and secretion under conditions in which stress to the endoplasmic reticulum is increased in β-cells. In this case-control study, we have selected rs7612462 polymorphism within UBE2E2 gene to identify in a Saudi population the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) subjects. In total, 376 subjects with T2DM and 380 controls were enrolled in this study. We have collected 5 mL of peripheral blood from each participant for biochemical and molecular analyses. PCR-RFLP was used to generate genotypes at rs7612462 in all of the study subjects. Clinical data and anthropometric measurements of the patients were significantly different from those of the controls (p<0.05). All of the subjects used in this study were non-obese (25

Opis:
ABCC10 (MRP7) plays a role in cellular detoxification and resistance to anticancer drugs. Since ABCC10 gene transcription in human prostate cancer CWR22Rv1 cells was found dependent on E2F binding sequence motif, ABCC10 expression in G1 and S phases of the cell cycle of CWR22Rv1 cells, was analyzed. The cells were synchronized in G1 phase by double thymidine block and in S phase by thymidine/mimosine double block. ABCC10 mRNA level was found to be similar in S phase-synchronized and asynchronous cell populations. In G1 phase it decreased by 2.4- to 3-fold. It is thus inferred, that ABCC10 expression in CWR22Rv1 cells is not S phase-specific but is primarily associated with cell proliferation.

The embedded engineering became the key success factor in many segments of human activities. Therefore, the needs for embedded engineers rapidly grew in last years. The engineering education in embedded systems is facing new challenges with the interdisciplinary approach and the high development dynamics of many specific components. The paper presents the results of Remote Laboratory (RL) service for distance learning for Embedded Systems, developed under Embedded Engineering Learning Platform (E2LP) – 7th Framework Programme funded project. This project provides an unified learning platform for embedded engineering over-coming an important problem of the high introduction overload by separate courses typical for embedded engineering studies. The developed E2LP includes the unified platform for typical courses (digital system design, computer system design) accompanied with basic set of exercises. The study efficiency is improved using the RL functionality. E2LP RL delivered secure and open access e-learning portal, which allowed to create full course and provide alternative teaching methods through the real-time experiments. The whole concept was evaluated at partner universities as well as at Warsaw University of Technology, where we introduced the new learning model in Digital System Design course.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a major risk factor for the development of cervical cancer. The HPV-induced immortalization of epithelial cell usually requires integration of the viral DNA into the host cell genome. The integration event causes disruption of the E2 gene and this is followed by overexpression of the E6 and E7 oncoproteins. The E2 protein is a transcription factor that regulates expression of the E6 and E7 oncoproteins by binding to four sites within the viral long control region. We used an in vitro cell culture model to explore the role of the E2 protein in the transcriptional control of the HPV16 long control region. Employing transient and stable transfection experiments we simulated the episomal and integrated states of the viral genome, respectively. We show that the E2 protein up-regulates E6/E7 transcription from episomal DNA but represses it in the case of integrated DNA. The activator function of the E2 protein seems to counteract the repressive chromatin structure formed over episomal DNA. Steroid hormones and retinol also modulate oncogene transcription differently depending on the physical structure of the viral DNA. Our data suggest regulatory mechanisms involving interactions between the E2 protein and nuclear hormone receptors.

UBE2E2 encodes ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2E2, which plays an important role in the synthesis and secretion of insulin. Two previous studies indicated that SNPs in UBE2E2 were associated with risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the Japanese and Korean populations, respectively. We examined the association of one SNP in this gene, rs7612463, with the risk of T2DM in 1957 Han participants in northeastern China, using an SNPscanTM Kit. rs7612463 genotype was significantly associated with risk for T2DM under various genetic models, including an additive model (P = 0.004), a dominant model (P = 0.024), and a recessive model (P = 0.008). The AA genotype was associated with a significantly decreased risk for T2DM (P = 0.004, OR = 0.513, 95% CI = 0.325-0.810) after adjustment for age, gender, and BMI. The heterozygous genotype, AC, was associated with increased risk for total cholesterol (mmol l-1; P = 0.031) and triglycerides (mmol l-1; P = 0.039) in control individuals. Our results show that rs7612463 is associated with T2DM, with homozygotes of the AA genotype at decreased risk for T2DM in the Chinese population. Additionally, heterozygotes may have decreased risk of T2DM due to insulin resistance.

(2E,6E)-2,6-bis(4-aminobenzylidene)cyclohexanone (BABC) was synthesized by two-step reaction of p-nitrobenzaldehyde and cyclohexanone followed by its reduction. The structure of BABC was supported by UV-Vis, FTIR, 1HNMR and mass spectral data. DSC endothermic transition at 230.6 ºC is assigned as melting transition followed by decomposition reaction. BABC is thermally stable up to 240 ºC and followed three step degradation kinetics. Various kinetic parameters were determined by Anderson-Freeman method and discussed.

Today’s market and customer expectations are changing so fast that numerous solutions and logistic concepts are becoming obsolete or require radical changes. These changes largely result from digital transformation, which creates a new business reality, generating access to digital tools and services in any place, at any time and scope. Owing to digital transformation it is possible to apply technology which ensures visibility throughout the supply chain, realtime response, implementation of modern E2E concepts, and primarily solutions that will allow to effectively meet the expectations of the modern customer. In this respect, it could be useful to consider the place of telematics in meeting these requirements and expectations. The assumed increase in effectiveness of activities, real-time data exchange and automation of many processes without the broad implementation of telematics considerations seems impossible. Thus, the question arises not only about the role and importance of telematics, but also about the scope and areas of implantation of telematics solutions into the functioning of modern supply chain referred to as “RealTime-End-to-End-Visibility”. The article attempts to identify and comprehensively approach the factors determining the emergence of such solutions. The objective of the study is also to indicate trends and directions of changes in the implementation of the latest telematics solutions on the example of selected companies in Lower Silesia.

Nowadays it would not be possible to plan an Italian language and culture class without considering the opportunity to use ICT. After the evolution from web to web 2.0 and from e-learning to e-learning 2.0, teachers approached a new concept of learning and teaching online. Web 2.0 tools, the social networks in particular, are considered a valuable resource for communicating, interacting and sharing linguistic and cultural contents, in formal and informal learning. Facebook, the most famous social network, becomes a virtual learning environment for students of Italian as a Second Language where posts, images, links and videos can be shared and used as L2 input. The Facebook page Lingua Italiana Per Stranieri (progetto LIPS), that we described it in this article, represents an example of a didactic use of this famous social network.

Praca zawiera informacje o głównych typach internetowych platform zakupowych B2B, charakterystykę narzędzi IT wykorzystywanych w procesie zakupowym oraz o potencjalnych korzyściach z ich wykorzystania przez przedsiębiorstwa. Przedstawiono też dane świadczące o intensywności i sposobie stosowania omawianych platform przez małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa w Polsce oraz teraźniejsze oferty wybranych platform.
Online commercial purchasing is a now a common practice. The purpose of this article is to present the current state of the Polish market of internet B2B ecommerce platforms for small and medium enterprises. The paper contains information about main types of internet B2B e-commerce platforms, the characteristics of IT tools used in the purchasing process and potential benefits of their use by companies. It also presents data demonstrating the intensity and manner of using the discussed platforms by small and medium enterprises in Poland and current offers of selected internet services.

About nine (E)-(2,5-dinitrophenyl)-2-(substituted benzylidene)hydrazines have been synthesized by hydroxy apatite catalyzed condensation of 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine and substituted benzaldehydes under microwave irradiation conditions. The obtained yields of these hydrazines are more than 85%. The purities of synthesized hydrazines are examined by the analytical and spectroscopic data reported earlier. The infrared spectral C=N, NH frequencies (v, cm-1) and the NMR spectral chemical shifts of CH, NH protons and carbons are assigned and are correlated with Hammett substituent constants, F and R parameter using single and multi-regression analysis. From the results of statistical analysis the effects of substituent on the group frequencies have been discussed. The antioxidant activities of these synthesized hydrazines were measured using DPPH radical scavenging method. The hydroxy- and methoxy- substituted hydrazines shows significant antioxidant activity.
