The purpose of this study was to propose a theoretical model and empirically measure whether trust impacts organizational performance. This study focused on three constructs: management trust (MT); organizational trust (OT); and organizational performance (OP). Specifically, the results of this study determined whether management trust (MT) significantly and positively contributes to organizational trust (OT) and whether organizational trust (OT) significantly and positively contributes to organizational performance (OP). Based on the findings, recommendations were made for building and sustaining a culture that will lead to improved organizational performance).

Trust and reputation management is gaining nowadays more attention then ever as online commodity exchange and other open virtual societies became a widespread reality. Most widely used computational models use reputation metrics as global property assigned to each party. More sophisticated models try to use reputation as subjective property. While introducing subjective reputation there arise a need to model preferences of agents. In this paper we propose to use weighted ordered weighted average (WOWA) operator to support the decision maker in assessing available evidence about other's party behavior. The WOWA aggregation is defined by two weighting vectors: the preferential weights assigned to the ordered quantities and the importance weights assigned to several attributes. It allows one to express both the preference regarding sources of information by the corresponding importance weights and the compensation between attribute values aggregated by the preferential weights.

This article is focused on the family of role-based trust management languages (RT). Trust management languages are a useful method of representing security credentials and policies in large distributed access control mechanisms. They provide sets of credentials that are assigned to individual roles performed by the specific entities. These credentials provide relevant information about security policies issued by trusted authorities and define user permissions. RT languages describe the individual entities and the roles that these entities play in a given environment. A set of credentials representing a given security policy defines which entity has the necessary rights to access a specific resource and which entity does not have such rights. This study presents the results of research focusing on the potential of the family of RT languages. Its purpose is to show how security policies may be applied more widely by applying an inference system, and then using the extensions of the credentials, by taking into account time-related information or the conditions imposed with regard to the validity of such credentials. Each of these extensions can be used jointly or separately, offering even a wider range of opportunities.

The family of Role-based Trust management languages is used for representing security policies by defining a formalism, which uses credentials to handle trust in decentralized, distributed access control systems. A credential provides information about the privileges of users and the security policies issued by one or more trusted authorities. The main topic of this paper is RT⊖, a language which provides a carefully controlled form of non-monotonicity. The core part of the paper defines two different semantics of RT⊖ language – a relational, set-theoretic semantics for the language, and an inference system, which is a kind of operational semantics. The set-theoretic semantics maps roles to a set of entity names. In the operational semantics credentials can be derived from an initial set of credentials using a set of inference rules. The soundness and the completeness of the inference system with respect to the set-theoretic semantics of RT⊖ will be proven.

Cloud computing is a business model with high degree of flexibility, scalability in providing infrastructure, platform and software as a service over the internet. Cloud promises for easiness and reduced expense to service providers and consumers. However, a lack of trust between these two stakeholders has hindered the universal accep¬tance of cloud for outsourced services. In this paper, a fuzzy based trust management system is proposed to facilitate cloud consumers in identifying trustworthy providers. The performance of the proposed system is validated through a simulation using CloudAnalyst and Simulink.

The article is based on the results of sociological research of the youth from the city of Moscow. The analysis showed that there is some duality in Moscow youth’s opinions in relation to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The researchers concluded that in contrast to public sector employees, who support the political course of the current president and are ready to vote for the party „United Russia”, young people from the private sector are more interested in politics, although their criticism of parliamentarism. However, young people from the public sector are less interested in politics and endorses to a greater or lesser extent the work of the State Duma of Russia, believing that it represents the interests of ordinary people.
Научная статья основана на результатах социологического исследования молодежи города Москвы по итогам партийного менеджмента и партийной реформы в современной России. Анализ показал, что наблюдается некоторая дуальность позиций московской молодежи по отношению к Государственной Думе Российской Федерации. Исследователи делают вывод, что молодежь из частного сектора, в большей степени интересующаяся политикой в отличие от работников бюджетной сферы, поддерживает политический курс действующего президента и готова голосовать за партию «Единая Россия», хотя и критически оценивает сам институт парламентаризма. Тогда как молодежь из бюджетного сектора меньше интересуется политикой и одобряет в большей или меньшей степени работу Государственной Думы России, считая, что она представляет интересы простого населения.

E-commerce is one of the most important and fast-growing way of trading. The obstacles common in traditional market seem to lose their meanin here. More and more often the benefits given to the customers are remarkably alike among wide range of stores providing their merchandise via e-commerce service. Those features determinate the question in what way the customer’s loyalty to the particular online store can be achieved and how the trust can be created and maintained. The main aim of the paper is to analyze the case of an online store and its trust-building strategies not related only with price of offered products, as well as presentation of the results of adopted actions which were to ensure increase in sales and to build strong market position of a multi-brand e-commerce retailer.

Background and purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship between autocratic management style and employee trust. Furthermore, the article aims to explore the correlation between autocratic management style and employee turnover. Design/Materials and research methods: The theoretical part of the paper presents the essence of the autocratic management style and describes the importance of trust in organizations. The study was conducted using the case study method with respect to a selected company specializing in the production and sale of confectionery products, which has a high rate of employee turnover. Results: The paper presents the results of the study on the manager’s preferred management style and the results of an employee survey assessing, among other things, the level of trust and control in the relationship with the owner. Practical implications: This study was conducted to highlight the relationship between management style and the existing level of employee trust in the owner. Conclusion and summary: The conclusions drawn from the study highlighted the existing relationship between the management style used by the manager and the level of trust and control, which consequently translate into high employee turnover.
Cel: Celem artykułu jest rozpoznanie relacji pomiędzy autokratycznym stylem zarządzania a zaufaniem pracowników. Ponadto artykuł ma na celu poznanie związku pomiędzy autokratycznym stylem zarządzania a fluktuacją pracowników. Materiały i metody badawcze: W części teoretycznej artykułu zaprezentowano istotę autokratycznego stylu zarządzania, a także opisano znaczenie zaufania w organizacjach. W przeprowadzonym badaniu zastosowano metodę case study, w wybranej firmie specjalizującej się w produkcji i sprzedaży wyrobów cukierniczych, która charakteryzuje się wysokim wskaźnikiem rotacji pracowników. Wyniki: Przedstawiono wyniki badania dotyczącego preferowanego stylu zarządzania przez menedżera oraz wyniki badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego wśród pracowników oceniające m.in. poziom zaufania i kontroli w relacji z właścicielem. Wnioski praktyczne: Badanie to przeprowadzono w celu zwrócenia uwagi na zależność pomiędzy stylem zarządzania a istniejącym poziomem zaufania pracowników do osoby właściciela. Wnioski i podsumowanie: Wnioski wyciągnięte z badania pozwoliły na zwrócenie uwagi na istniejącą relację pomiędzy stosowanym stylem zarządzania menedżera a poziomem zaufania i kontroli, które w konsekwencji przekładają się na dużą fluktuację pracowników.

In the era of globalization, state and public organizations must be effective. One of the conditions of this effectiveness is the creation of intra-organizational trust. The author identifies factors, that affect this trust, and formulates a definition of public trust and intra-organizational trust. It was stated among others, that public trust to the organization can be reduced due to lower lever of intra-organization trust. It was also stated, that staff willingness to remain in the organization does not depend only on job satisfaction. A lack of willingness to sharing by employees the knowledge and skills with others can be considered as an indicator of the level of intra-organizational trust. A high staff fluctuation can be considered as an indicator of a lack of trust in the organization.

Trust plays an important role in human life environments. That is why the researchers has been focusing on it for a long time. It allows us to delegate tasks and decisions to an appropriate person. In social sciences trust between humans was studied, but it also was analyzed in economic transactions. A lot of computer scientists from different areas, like security, semantic web, electronic commerce, social networks tried to transfer this concept to their domains. Trust is an essential factor in any kind of network, whether social or computer. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are characterized by severely constrained resources, they have limited power supplies, low transmission bandwidth, small memory sizes and limited energy, therefore security techniques used in traditional wired networks cannot be adopted directly. Some effort has been expended in this fields, but the concept of trust is defined in slightly different ways by different researchers. In this paper we will show how the family of Role-based Trust management languages (RT) can be used in WSN. RT is used for representing security policies and credentials in decentralized, distributed access control systems. A credential provides information about the privileges of users and the security policies issued by one or more trusted authorities.

Online auctions have become a big business and the number of auction site users is growing rapidly. These virtual marketplaces give traders a lot of opportunities to find a contracting party. However, lack of physical contact between users decreases the degree of trust. Auction portals require an efficient mechanism for building trust between participants, whereas most of them provide simple participation counts for reputation rating. Moreover, a single opinion has virtually no effect on a big online store that already has many reputation points, so buyers are very hesitant to give negative feedback for fear of retaliation. Consequently, almost no negative feedback is provided1. In this paper we introduce a new trust system called Asymptotic Trust Algorithm (ATA) which prevents many fraud attempts and still is both simple and easy to understand for most users. Our new method can be applied in addition to the participation counts systems currently used by Allegro, eBay and most of other online auction sites because it does not require any additional information other than positive, negative or neutral feedback on transactions. Most importantly, ATA encourages users to submit unbiased comments, regardless of the number of previous transactions.

The data aggregation process of wireless sensor networks faces serious security problems. In order to defend the internal attacks launched by captured nodes and ensure the reliability of data aggregation, a secure data aggregation mechanism based on constrained supervision is proposed for wireless sensor network, which uses the advanced LEACH clustering method to select cluster heads. Then the cluster heads supervise the behaviors of cluster members and evaluate the trust values of nodes according to the communication behavior, data quality and residual energy. Then the node with the highest trust value is selected as the supervisor node to audit the cluster head and reject nodes with low trust values. Results show that the proposed mechanism can effectively identify the unreliable nodes, guarantee the system security and prolong the network life time.

The paper presents a set of concepts which can establish a basis for the creation of new evaluation model of trust and reputation management systems (TRM). The presented approach takes into account essential characteristics of such systems to provide an assessment of its robustness. The model also specifies measures of effectiveness of trust and reputation systems. There is still a need to create a comprehensive evaluation model of attacks on trust and reputation management systems and evaluation model of TRM systems itself, which could facilitate establishing a framework to deeply evaluate the security of existing TRM systems. We believe that this paper could be perceived as a small step forward towards this goal.
