In Japanese, onomatopoeia are an important element in expressing feelings and experiences. They are difficult for students of Japanese to acquire, especially the nuances. Herein, we propose an e-learning system to improve the efficiency of teaching the nuances – both explicit and tacit – to non-native speakers of Japanese in three steps. We synthesized a new learning strategy available to students leaning Japanese onomatopoeia using narrative strategies to mimic the learning methods used by native speakers. This was achieved by firstly teaching the formal rules representing the explicit nuances. Secondly, the students created new onomatopoeic words by utilizing those formal rules. Finally, feedback was provided by evaluating the onomatopoeias created through the support system of narrative strategies to provide implicit teaching. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and the learning system, we conducted an experiment involving two groups of subjects. While Group A got feedback about the appropriateness of their onomatopoeic constructions from the native speakers’ narrative interpretations, Group B just reviewed the database material like in a traditional classroom. Results indicate our e-learning system has a significant effect on the acquisition of a working understanding of onomatopoeia.

E-learning has fast become an active field of research with a lot of investments towards web-based delivery of personalized learning contents to learners. Some issues of e-learning arise from the heterogeneity and interoperability of learning content adapting to learner's styles and preferences. This has brought about the development of an ontology-based personalized learning system to solve this problem. This research developed an ontology-based personalized e-learning system that presents suitable learning contents to learners based on their learning style, preferences, background knowledge, and personal profile.

In our paper we present the INDIPHASO [1] e-learning system for the design of digital systems implemented using FPGAs or CPLDs. The system allows users to access remotely, from a computer connected to the Internet, developing boards based on programmable logic circuits and microcontrollers in order to implement their designs. The paper describes the way the users can access the software tools in order to perform the steps in a predefined or a custom design flow. The three described methods provide different levels of accessibility and possibility of design flow configuration.

The main goal of this paper was to indicate the possible use of a specific model of e-learning for computer science teachers in Serbia. Taking this aim into account, the authors accurately indicated the subject of the proposed research: development of a model system for the implementation of e-learning for the level of higher education in Serbia for teachers, with a special emphasis on informatics education. This e-learning model indicates equal participation of major areas of information technology and pedagogy and teaching methodology, pedagogy, ICT and media. The proposed research subject is of high importance in the development of the education system in Serbia and as such is adapted to the needs of a knowledge society and to realize the scientific contribution to the subject area. This work represents a good starting point for further work and continuing research presented, referring to the concrete results of research by the author.

W opracowaniu przedstawiono koncepcję systemu e-learningu dostosowanego do potrzeb beneficjentów projektu „Efektywni 50+” realizowanego przez WWSI i partnerów. Przeanalizowano dobre praktyki w kształceniu e-learningowym osób 50+, a w szczególności rewidentów, księgowych oraz pracowników biura obsługi klienta. Uwzględniono wyniki badań europejskich, metodykę prowadzenia szkoleń e-learningowych, współczesne narzędzia e-edukacji oraz wnioski i rekomendacje z badania diagnostycznego przeprowadzonego w ramach projektu. Na tej podstawie zaproponowano sposób organizacji szkoleń oraz opisano potrzebne do tego celu metody i narzędzia. Sformułowano również wskazówki dla autorów treści dydaktycznych oraz instrukcje dla prowadzących szkolenia.
The paper presents the concept of e-learning system designed to project “Effectively 50+”conducted by WWSI and partners. Best practices in e-learning education of 50+, in particular, auditors, accountants and customer service staff were analyzed. The results of European research methodology of e-learning courses, modern tools of e-learning and the conclusions and recommendations of the diagnostic research were considered. On this basis, the e-learning methods and tools for “Effectively 50+” project were proposed and characterized. The paper shows also the guidelines for authors of educational content and tips for trainers.

The article presents attempts to identify the needs and problems of modern e-learning and designed a solution that meets the needs of the recipients of e-learning and e-learning content providers. On the basis of this analysis, it was found that the market lacks the e-learning platform that meets all the needs and requirements in remote education. E-learning systems are very poor functionally, and tools for achieving the objectives, such as content creation, content distribution, management learning, and synchronous online meetings appear as separate applications that do not necessarily work well together. Most often each of them must be used separately that extends the preparation of training materials, and is a burden in the administration and supervision of the training course. On the basis of the analysis of remote training needs of recipients and creators of content proposed solution supporting distance learning. On the basis of the analysis of literature and research of user behavior designed and developed an integrated e-learning platform that meets the expectations of the users. The system has successfully motivating tool to complete training and does not require expensive implementation. The main objective of the proposed system was to eliminate the disadvantages observed in other systems. It was found that the human factor impeding the effective acquisition of knowledge as lack of motivation for self-study and the lack of contact with the teacher. In order to minimize the impact of these factors on the educational goals proposed solutions such as elements of competition and extensive virtual classrooms.

Wprowadzenie Krajowych Ram Kwalifikacji wpłynęło na różne aspekty funkcjonowania uczelni wyższych, w tym proces kształcenia na odległość. W artykule omówiony został wpływ tych regulacji na tworzenie zawartości kursów online, prowadzenie zajęć za pośrednictwem plat-formy e-learningowej oraz zarządzanie procesem zdalnego nauczania. Przedstawiono również sposób uwzględnienia Krajowych Ram Kwalifikacji na platformie LCMS Blackboard z wykorzy-staniem obiektów wiedzy.
Implementation of the National Qualifications Framework influenced on different aspects of functioning of universities including distance learning process. In the article an influence of this regulation on creation of content of online courses, teaching through the e-learning platform and management of remote teaching process were described. The way of consideration of the National Qualifications Framework on the LCMS Blackboard platform with usage of knowledge objects was also presented.

Computers have been employed in education for years. They help to provide educational aids using multimedia forms such as films, pictures, interactive tasks in the learning process, automated testing, etc. In this paper, a concept of an intelligent e-learning system will be proposed. The main purpose of this system is to teach effectively by providing an optimal learning path in each step of the educational process. The determination of a suitable learning path depends on the student's preferences, learning styles, personal features, interests and knowledge state. Therefore, the system has to collect information about the student, which is done during the registration process. A user is classified into a group of students who are similar to him/her. Using information about final successful scenarios of students who belong to the same class as the new student, the system determines an opening learning scenario. The opening learning scenario is the first learning scenario proposed to a student after registering in an intelligent e-learning system. After each lesson, the system tries to evaluate the student's knowledge. If the student has a problem with achieving an assumed score in a test, this means that the opening learning scenario is not adequate for this user. In our concept, for this case an intelligent e-learning system offers a modification of the opening learning scenario using data gathered during the functioning of the system and based on a Bayesian network. In this paper, an algorithm of scenario determination (named ADOLS) and a procedure for modifying the learning scenario AMLS with auxiliary definitions are presented. Preliminary results of an experiment conducted in a prototype of the described system are also described.

The evaluation with the use of neuroscience methods and tools of a student’s satisfaction – happiness from using the e-learning system (e-learning platforms, e-games, simulators) poses an important research subject matter. In the present paper, it is presented a research on course conducted in the Marine Training Centre of Piraeus. In particular, this research with the use of a neuroscience tools-gaze tracker and voice recording (lexical analysis), investigates the amount of satisfaction of the students using Engine room simulator (ERS 5L90MCL11, Kongsberg 2003 AS) and ECDIS system by monitoring the users’ eye movement and speech in combination with the use of qualitative and quantitative methods. The ultimate goal of this research is to find and test the critical factors that influence the educational practice and user satisfaction of e-learning marine systems and the ability to conduct full-time system control by the marine crew.

E-learning brings the third wave to Internet applications. E-learning is a new training mode with the open characteristics, which is completely different with traditional training. Maritime education and training must conform to the trend of times to explore E-learning training to improve the training performance. In this paper, based on the theory of E-learning, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of E-learning training. By analyzing current status of maritime education and training, using E-learning to establish China's maritime education and training of the lifelong education system, using E-learning to promote the internationalization of navigation education and training.

This paper provides a thorough introduction to LAMS (Learning Activity Management System). An overview of what LAMS is, and who created it, is followed by a description of its Learner, Monitor and Author environments. The numerous and supportive creater-designed online animated tutorial links ‘built into’ the paper cover in detail all the facets of these environments. It is held that the reader will benefit greatly and will acquire a sound knowledge base of how to use LAMS if these presentations, which total several hours, are viewed. To this extent, this article is also teacher-training in scope. The final part of the paper comprises a brief literature review on LAMS. LAMS pilot use in ESOL is highly recommended and a call is made for the subsequent dissemination of research findings.
