Opis:
Background: The changes which are taking place today, forces companies to ask themselves about the quality of leadership in the organization and whether the existing work in this area supports the success of the company. In the global environment, both social structure and political are changing. Demographic changes irrevocable impact on the market more than ever before. For company it is necessary to introduce new paradigms of leadership to have a chance to succeed in this new environment. The aim of researches was to recognize methods, which allow to improve the quality of management of transprot companies. Methods: Researches were conducted based on literature review and questionnaires sent by employees. Cocnlusions: Leadership agility model seems to be the answer to the question of how to survive in the new world. Concept of leadership agility draws attention to a smooth transition between the different management styles as well as the end of the heroic leadership, (focused on only one leader) and the beginning of the post heroic leadership, where the contribution of the whole team count. In the new environment, a significant part of the company's success will depend on the commitment of its employees, and hence the added value of their work. Model of leadership agility is used in DHL Express daily and build the base for achieving excellent results not only business but also those related to human capital.

The subject of the study is the issue of freedom of construction, shown against the background of obligations relating to the maintenance of buildings. The source of building freedom is the constitutional principle of property protection, which provides the owner with protection against unlawful infringement of his rights and excessive power of public administration bodies. However, the exercise of building freedom does not mean complete freedom in the use of the building structure, because it has its limits outlined in the implementation of the values indicated in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. The study analyses the compliance of obligations concerning the maintenance of building structures with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

The presented report focuses on the possibilities of identification and specification of indicators which enable prediction of occurrence of cognitive distortions. On the sample of 130 male and female managers a new original methodology labeled as PCD (Prediction of Cognitive Distortions) was verified. Proposal for this methodology was based on the concept by Beck, who described formation and effects of dysfunctional cognitive schemas and cognitive distortions. It is clear that these distortions occur both in personal and work areas of life. The report also presents findings and knowledge which enabled extraction and specification of two predictors of occurrence of cognitive distortions in the work of managers. According to their content, these factors were defined as Distorted selection of facts and Over-generalization.

Objectives There is a need for up-to-date research on health-care and social managers’ work well-being. The purpose was to develop a questionnaire for measuring health-care and social managers’ subjective work well-being and to determine whether their background factors are connected to their work well-being. Material and Methods The authors developed a questionnaire based on their previous health-care and social managers’ work well-being framework. It covers 5 separate categories: 1) individual factors, 2) social factors, 3) professional support from one’s own manager, 4) organizational factors, and 5) work-related factors. Using statistical methods, the authors examined the questionnaire’s internal validity, its fit with the framework, and the connections between several background factors and work well-being. The survey data (N = 281) were collected from South Osthrobothnia and Central Osthrobothnia in Finland. Results The questionnaire’s internal validity was good, and it fit rather well with the authors’ previous framework. Managers’ work well-being was highest for the category of “professional support from one’s own manager” and lowest for “organizational factors.” The authors found connections between different categories of work well-being and a) years of managerial experience, b) level of management, and c) occupational group. Conclusions The questionnaire gives a holistic view of managers’ work well-being and is suit- able for measuring work well-being in the social- and health-care context. An examination showed that there is a need to improve the individual situations of the social- and health-care managers. The questionnaire can be used to assess managers’ work well-being and to build a knowledge base for developing organizational policies.

The analysis of scientific approaches to understanding the psychological characteris-tics of the role of the management team is important in the context of ensuring the organizational development of educational institutions. The transformational changes taking place in education today require the introduction of new approaches to the process of managing educational organizations. The practical solution to the problem of forming management teams in educational organizations involves determining and understanding the importance of systematic psychological training of education managers to form professional management teams. The article reveals the psychological features of innovative management styles in managers of educational organizations, selected by the criterion of «Teamwork in the organization». Іt is especially important in educational organizations to form not only a teaching staff, but a team where teachers set an example not by words but by their own actions: teach them to be leaders, develop their various social competencies, and most importantly – teach by personal example. Аllowed us to identify innovative management styles in managers of educational organizations, which are selected by the criteria of «Teamwork in the organization» and provide the following skills: orientation of managers of educational organizations on teamwork based on clearly defined roles, willingness to internally accept organizational goals and objectives; to organize joint activities to address management issues, willingness and skills of constructive communication, dialogue and interaction with different categories of people. Іdentified traditional («fear of poverty», «authority – conquest», «rest home») and innovative («organization», «team») management styles in managers of educational organizations on the indicator «of orientation of managers to teamwork». Highlights the main reasons for managers to avoid team building. Increasing the attention of psychologists to the problem of psychological preparation of managers of educational organizations.

In a market environment, competition exceeds the limits of such areas as goods, services, technologies, and marketing instruments. To ensure continuity in development, production, and marketing of new high-quality goods (services), companies (organizations) have to be able to develop and use the potential of their staff in accordance with the new challenges of the information society and globalization processes. Structural and functional approach in human resources management is based on the use of the principles of scientific management and bureaucracy and envisages a rather authoritarian management style. Activity planning is one of the most important functions of a manager.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The article addresses important and current issues regarding stress at work of contemporary managers and the implications of stress, including for family life. The purpose of the article is to indicate the causes and effects of managers’ professional stress. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem is an attempt to answer the question – how stress affects managers in professional and private life? Based on the literature of the subject and in relation to the results of selected surveys, the authors prove that professional stress in the case of managers adversely affects not only the professional environment in which the manager works, but also has a bearing on the family’s functioning.THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Professional stress is an increasingly common phenomenon in modern organizations. In the case of managers, it is usually the result of their weakened resilience in overcoming and solving the difficulties, long-term fatigue and emotional strains they experience at work. RESEARCH RESULTS: Stress affects the entire manager’s surroundings negatively. At work, it is increased absenteeism, more mistakes made, emotional arousal or loss of self-confidence. In family life, this is excessive nervousness, physical and mental tension that acts destructively on family members, lack of interest in the affairs of loved ones and aggression.CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Employers and personnel departments in order to level the level and effects of stress should initiate research aimed at identifying the causes of manager’s stress. Training in stress management and undertaking activities that reduce the stressfulness of the work environment, such as changing the scope of tasks, goals or responsibilities, are important.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the article is to get to know female senior managers’ beliefs and experiences about combining their professional career with motherhood. Methodology: A narrative analysis of the literature and a diagnostic survey (tool – survey questionnaire) were used. The selection of the studied sample was deliberate. The respondents were only women occupying high managerial positions (157 people). The following research problem was formulated: how do women in high managerial positions perceive the influence of their professional career on their motherhood? The problem was detailed in the form of research questions: 1. To what extent did the professional career of the surveyed women managers influence their decision to become a mother? 2. What psycho-social costs resulting from combining professional and family roles were incurred by the surveyed women? Findings: Female managers are statistically more likely to postpone the decision to become a mother and declare that they will not have children compared to women who pursue a different career path. The vast majority of them experience a sense of guilt due to the lack of time for their children and believe that they have "missed" important developmental moments in their child's life. Female managers participating in the study experience a strong role conflict (the role of the manager versus the role of the mother). They are aware of the high emotional and health costs resulting from combining the social roles of a mother and a manager. Most of their career goals remain unchanged after the baby is born. Research limitations/implications: The obtained research results are treated as pilot ones. The complete achievement of the research goal requires continuation of the research on a larger sample of female respondents, as well as the use of comparative analysis methods, e.g. comparing the results of the research among female managers with the results obtained in other professional groups or among men. Practical implications: The results of the research can be used to improve the policy of equality between women and men in organizations and to create a pro-family policy of enterprises. Social implications: The article contains research results that help to understand better the childfree phenomenon in specific professional groups, and thus to diagnose various social attitudes towards combining career and motherhood. Originality/value: this is the first study of this type conducted on the population of top female managers in Poland.

Purpose: This article presents research into the interdependencies between leadership styles and the sense of meaning of life, perceived as a psychological category. Design/methodology/approach: The aim was to either capture the relationship or reveal the lack of dependency between the leadership style preferred by managers – understood in a theoretical approach as a mental representation – and the experienced sense of the meaning of life. Two recognised and reliable research tools were deployed: the WERK Leadership Style Inventory, by U. Brzezińska and M. Rafalak, and the Purpose in Life Test, by J.C. Crumbaugh and L.T. Maholic. Findings: The research demonstrates that the sense of meaning of life, as a psychological category, does not influence managers’ preferences in terms of the adopted leadership style. Research limitations/implications: Research continuation is advisable, but with a larger sampling group and additional breakdown into the organisation’s levels and decision-making autonomy of the managers involved. Practical implications: The lack of correlation between experiencing the sense of life and the declared leadership style – as demonstrated – may imply that such axiological alienation might affect efficiency and generate stress and dissatisfaction with one’s vocational activities. Social implications: This includes the axiological aspect, understood as the feeling of sense of life, in managerial behaviour schemes, which may effectively drive the organisation towards corporate social responsibility. Originality/value: It was demonstrated that leadership style seems to be a construct from a different axiological category than sense of life and, therefore, is largely subject to the influence of situational contexts, such as corporate culture or standards.
