Opis:
One-antenna GPS systems present no possibility for the direct determination of vehicle slip angle. This is an easy task for dual antenna systems; however, many users have this kind of apparatus. In this paper, a method of estimation of this parameter, which is important for the estimation of vehicle steerability factors, is proposed (e.g. TB factor calculated on the basis of data from input test [8]). The method is based on two parameters measured by a one-antenna GPS system; these are the heading angle created from the Doppler channel coming directly from the GPS engine, and the yaw rate measured by an IMU device integrated and cooperating with the GPS engine. The sideslip angle which was calculated according to the proposed method is compared with an equivalent angle calculated on the basis of data from a non-slip measurement of velocity components for selected point of vehicle acquired using. The presented method is illustrated with examples from real tests. In the author’s opinion, the sideslip angle calculated with the application of measurement data obtained from a one-antenna GPS device could be used in practice. From comparison with another upper mentioned method, it follows that the differences between average values of sideslip angles obtained from both considered methods is not greater than 8%.

Opis:
This study analyzed the possibilities to validate the indications of sensors for yaw rate and lateral acceleration within the scope of extended diagnostic routine of the car ESP system at Vehicle Inspection Stations. The stand tests were performed using the reference sensors and a standard diagnostic tester. The comparison of the yaw rate and lateral acceleration results obtained from the working sensor under examination, recorded with the Vbox unit, and the results from the reference sensor demonstrated a good conformity both in quality and quantity. But these tests demonstrated also a pure conformity (both in quality and quantity) with runs obtained from tester. The Root Mean Square (RMS) was used as factor of qualitative estimation. These inconveniences were caused by in sampling frequency incompatibility and lack of recording synchronization for signals from the tester and from reference sensors. The question of primary importance is a firmware modification for selected testers. Such a tester should be able to record signals from a reference sensor and have a set sampling frequency for signals from a working sensor. On the basis of already carried out research analyses the suggested frequency should be no lower than approximately 10 Hz. It resulted from a spectral analysis carried out for possessed runs maintaining the Nyquist limit frequency.

Opis:
The paper presents the proposals of extension of the periodic tests of the selected ESP system sensors: angular velocity sensor and lateral acceleration sensor using a universal diagnostics tester and a plate stand (a wheel play detector unit). The idea of this approach is to evaluate the signals from the above sensors in terms of their amplitude and frequency in the case of known forcing at the plate stand. Knowledge of the amplitude and frequency of the plates excitation and the model of tested vehicle allows for predicting the response of vehicle. On this way the verification of sensors indications is possible. This article presents the flat model of a vehicle placed on the plate stand, simulation tests and the results of its validation for three different vehicles. The results of the investigation show that the wheelbase of vehicle has a significant impact on the steady-state vibration amplitude. This conclusion is important in the practical application of this method to test the vehicle yaw rate sensor in the ESP system.

This paper is based on designing a modified rotor for a drivetrain in a Type-III wind turbine system for maximum power generation to work effectively under low and high wind speed and its variation. In this paper three drive trains are designed for the gearbox to provide regulated torque and thrust force. For time to time variation in wind speed the voltage sag and during over speed condition voltage swell problem can be solved by using this modified design. The pitch control, gear box and yaw of the wind turbine basically focused for modification. Mainly the gear box for the rotor causes sluggish motion of the rotor during low wind speed. This paper explained the design of modified rotor control for the gear box in DFIG based (Type-III) wind turbine. Also in this paper how the modified rotor system can be helpful for reactive power control highlighted with comparison with existing models. For designing MATLAB Simulink platform is taken and validated using CFD mechanical design analysis. Using these types of modified drive trains maximum power for the wind turbines is enhanced by 40–60% of its reference value.

Opis:
Currently, UAVs are intensively being introduced into topographic-photogrammetric production for topographic digital aerial photography and laser scanning. These technologies have a number of advantages: they don’t require specially prepared platforms and launchers, they are relatively inexpensive unlike large aircrafts, and they are safe. However, there are still many unsolved problems for ultralight UAVs, especially when the aerial photography is made. As you know, the requirements for the implementation of the aerial survey process are quite stringent, first of all, for horizontal flight: the angles of inclination must be within 3–5 degrees, since exceeding these tolerances significantly affects the accuracy for determining the spatial coordinates of objects. Therefore, there was an idea to conduct researches of dependences between the pitch α, roll ω and yaw κ. For this purpose, 100 images obtained from aircraft-type UAV ‘Arrow’ developed and created by specialists from Lviv Polytechnic National University and ‘Abris’ were used. As a result of the study, the multiple correlation coefficient and the parameters of the linear regression equation for the angular elements of the exterior orientation of digital images were calculated. In addition, statistical quality evaluations for the obtained regression model were carried out. Analysis of the received data allows to assert that angular elements of exterior orientation are correlated with each other. Therefore, in the further imaging materials, processing it becomes possible to make compensation of this fact and to improve calculation accuracy of spatial coordinates of points.

Opis:
Purpose: The plane 2d model and 3d finite element model of the headgear attached to two molars with different mesio-distal location are studied to show the asymmetric mechanical effects produced by symmetrically loaded headgear. In daily dental practice the asymmetrical location of molars is usually ignored. Methods: Six 3D finite element models of a symmetric cervical headgear were designed in SolidWorks 2011. The models showed symmetric molar position (model 1), 0.5 to 2 mm of anterior-posterior molar difference (models 2-5) and a significant asymmetry with 10 mm of difference in the locations (model 6). The head gear was loaded with 3N of force applied at the cervical headgear. The forces and moments produced on terminal molars are assessed. Results: It is shown the difference between the forces acting at the longer and shorter outer arms of the headgear increases with increase in the distance. The significant numeric difference in the forces has been found: from 0.0082 N (model 1) to 0.0324 N (model 5) and 0.146 N (model 6). These small forces may produce unplanned distal tipping and rotation of the molars around their vertical axes. The most important funding was found as a clockwise yaw moment in the system when is viewed superio-inferiorly. The yaw moment has been computed between -0.646 N•mm (model 1) and -1.945 N•mm (model 5). Conclusions: Therefore even small asymmetry in location of molars loaded by a symmetric cervical headgear will produce undesirable move-ment and rotation of the teeth that must be taken into account before applying the treatment.

Opis:
The process of implementation of new developments, in particular, new generation rolling stock holds a prominent place among the range of measures for organization of high-speed passenger rail transportation in Ukraine. The example of permission for use and the initial phase of work with interregional NRCS2 dual-mode electric trains produced by Hyundai-Rotem Corporation is the illustrative one in this context. Due to the detection of macro-cracks in bolster beams of the car body frames of these electric trains, namely in the areas of mounting of anti-yaw dampers, these trains were taken out of service until the completion of the modernization of problematic nodes. The comprehensive study on the determination of the safety parameters of electric trains was conducted to determine the causes of destruction of bolster beams. At the same time, bolster beams loading was estimated depending on the characteristics of anti-yaw dampers by means of computer simulation of the dynamics of motion of trailing and motor cars. The feasibility of selection of parameters for anti-yaw dampers mounted on electric train cars was assessed. The results of work will improve the safe operation of high-speed trains and increase the efficiency of estimates regarding the loading of bearing structures of underframes of the of rolling stock.

Opis:
The paper presents basic principles of a ship’s nondimensional trajectory definition (for arbitrary manoeuvres) by means of drift angle and nondimensional yaw velocity. This enables faster and better tuning of mathematical model of ship manoeuvring motions against the provided full scale sea maneouvring trials (usually in a form of position trajectories) – since it is known the governing, basic factors behind the trajectory. A special focus has been applied to the standard turning circle test.
W pracy dokonano nowatorskiego i kompleksowego ujęcia kinematyki ruchu krzywoliniowego, szczególnie w odniesieniu do bezwymiarowej (mierzonej jednostkami długości statku) trajektorii statku podczas manewru cyrkulacji. Sformułowano analitycznie kształt trajektorii oraz jej ewoluty (położenia środków krzywizny). Ponadto przedstawiono praktyczne znaczenie i możliwości kształtowania trajektorii poprzez dobór parametrów zmian kąta dryfu i bezwymiarowej prędkości kątowej.

Opis:
Typically, an inertial navigation system (INS) is used to determine the position, speed, and orientation of an object moving relative to the earth's surface. The navigation information (position, speed and orientation) of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is needed to control its flight. Since the resistance of INS to interferences is very high, it is possible to ensure reliable flights in conditions of high-intensity noise. This article explores the principles of constructing inertial measurement units (IMU) that are part of the INS and indicates perspective directions for their development. Micro-electromechanical inertial measurement units were studied in this work, and functional and principal electrical circuits for connecting units of inertial measurements to the microcontroller were developed. The results of practical measurements of units without calibration and after calibration were obtained using the created laboratory device. Based on the obtained results, the necessity of sensor calibration was revealed, and accuracy was improved by performing calibration with the Kalman filter algorithm. The Kalman filter is the heart of the navigation system. In a low-cost system, IMU errors like bias, scale factor error and random walk noise dominate the INS error growth.

Opis:
To improve the curve driving stability and safety under critical maneuvers for four-wheel-independent drive autonomous electric vehicles, a three-stage direct yaw moment control (DYC) strategy design procedure is proposed in this work. The first stage conducts the modeling of the tire nonlinear mechanical properties, i.e. the coupling relationship between the tire longitudinal force and the tire lateral force, which is crucial for the DYC strategy design, in the STI (Systems Technologies Inc.) form based on experimental data. On this basis, a 7-DOF vehicle dynamics model is established and the direct yaw moment calculation problem of the four-wheel-independent drive autonomous electric vehicle is solved through the nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode (NFTSM) control method, thus the optimal direct yaw moment can be obtained. To achieve this direct yaw moment, an optimal allocation problem of the tire forces is further solved by using the trust-region interior-point method, which can effectively guarantee the solving efficiency of complex optimization problem like the tire driving and braking forces allocation of four wheels in this work. Finally, the effectiveness of the DYC strategy proposed for the autonomous electric vehicles is verified through the CarSim-Simulink co-simulation results.
