    The article discusses Stanisław Barańczak’s idea of the possibility of improving the original in translation as a crucial aspect of his poetic agenda both before the 1989 change of the political system in Poland and after it. This aspect of his poetics is linked with his frequent recourses to normalization as a way out of, in his eyes oppressive, rule of the idiotic clownery and chaos of the surrounding reality regardless of its actual political or social significances. Hence the ambivalence in Barańczak’s vision of normality which, paradoxically, can be seen as either negative or, litotetically, as non-negative.

    Opis:
    The following contribution aims at discussing the role of pedagogy against the background of a time in which limits are overcome through the use of new technologies. It is argued that pedagogy is in some way itself always related to both the recognition, as well as the overcoming, of limits. This can be seen first of all in the fact that both a recognition of the limit of the self as well as (or rather in differentiation to) a limit of the other are necessary in order to recognise oneself in the first place and therefore are essential to the constitution and formation of the self and the world. Secondly, the basic duty of pedagogy could be defined as the forming of human beings through the use of educational tools and by changing the limits that constitute the self. Adhering to this definition would therefore assume that there is a transhuman moment inherent in pedagogy itself.
    Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje kwestię roli jaką pedagogika pełni w czasach, w których kolejne granice są przezwyciężane dzięki nowym technologiom. Autorzy argumentują, że w pewnym sensie pedagogika zawsze wiąże się zarówno z uznaniem, jak i przekraczaniem granic. Po pierwsze, świadczy o tym fakt, że zarówno uznanie granic własnej jaźni, jak i granic (bądź raczej odróżnianie się od) innego jest konieczne przede wszystkim w celu autoidentyfikacji. Z tego też powodu uznanie tych granic jest istotne dla konstytuowania i formowania własnej jaźni oraz otaczającego nas świata. Po drugie, podstawowe zobowiązanie pedagogiki może zostać zdefiniowane jako kształtowanie człowieka dzięki narzędziom edukacyjnym i zmianie tych ograniczeń, które konstytuują jaźń. Stosowanie takiej definicji zakładałoby, że w samej pedagogice zawarty jest moment transhumanistyczny.

    Organization of a manager’s workday has certain impact on numerous issues. No one needs to be convinced that the thesis is right. It is not only creation of own image but affecting many affairs connected with the functioning of a company or its element. A manager, due to his or her position in an enterprise, is able to significantly influence the activities of subordinates. One should also consider the fact that there is a correlation between a nature of work, specific character of a company and personality of a commander (manager). He or she is the one who choosing style of leadership is many a time determined by nature of work and issues to be decided. Remarkable feedback activity takes place between subculture of the managed and certain personal features and habits of a manager. Practice indicates that it would be good if a boss selected his or her style of leadership with respect to the subculture that can be initially found in an enterprise. There are many considerations affecting organization of a manager’s activity, his vertical and horizontal relations. It is not justifiable for a new boss occupying his or her position to destroy everything established by predecessors. In numerous literature analyses treating of management and the functioning of organization there is no direct reference to a specific company (firm, enterprise). As a rule general issues are presented and the function of a manager is defined in different ways. The subject matter that have briefly been elaborated on above show unambiguously that efficient organization of a manager’s activities is an important factor of an enterprise’s functioning efficiency. Such a statement is a result of, above all, the fact that a manager who irrationally organizes own activities may make many factual errors and have a disorganizing impact on work of direct subordinates and the whole company. A manager’s bad model may lead to a complete breakdown of institution efficiency. Even a traditional proverb, being a generalization of experience centuries old, draws one’s attention to this phenomenon by the following saying: „like master, like man”.

    Edukacja jest ciągłym procesem przygotowywania młodych ludzi do wejścia w dorosłość, podczas którego wyposaża się ich w niezbędne narzędzia i wiedzę, aby mogli poradzić sobie w przyszłości zarówno na rynku pracy, jak i w życiu osobistym oraz w funkcjonowaniu w społeczeństwie. Jest to również na swój sposób proces „udoskonalania człowieka”. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przybliżenie modnych dzisiaj i szeroko komentowanych koncepcji filozoficznych transhumanizmu i posthumanizmu. Najpierw zostanie zatem przedstawionych kilka najbardziej znanych i popularnych wizji dotyczących przyszłości, które zostały zaprezentowane przez wizjonerów przełomu XIX i XX wieku, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tych, które na swój sposób się już spełniły. W dalszej części artykułu zostaną ukazane koncepcje filozofii transhumanizmu i posthumanizmu, wraz z przedstawieniem najważniejszych różnic. W ostatniej części wskazane zostaną wyzwania edukacyjne postulowane przez aktywistów tych ruchów filozoficznych, a na koniec – główne problemy etyczne, jakie rodzą się w świecie futurystycznych wizjonerów.
    Education is a continuous process of preparing young people to enter adulthood, of equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to cope in the future so that they can cope both in the labor market and in their personal life as well as in functioning in society. It is also, in its own way, a process of “human enhancement.” This article aims to introduce the fashionable and widely commented philosophical concepts of transhumanism and posthumanism. First, some of the most famous and popular visions of the future from visionaries at the end of the 19th century are presented, with a particular emphasis on those that have in some way come true. In the next part of the article, the very concepts of transhumanism and posthumanism are clarified, along with a presentation of the most important differences. In the last part, the educational challenges posed by proponents of these philosophical movements are indicated, as well as the main ethical problems that arise in the world of futuristic visionaries.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to present the adsorption chillers technology. The operating principle of these systems, the adsorbent-adsorbate pairs that are frequently applied and the enhancement techniques that allow improvement of their efficiency are presented. Analysis of the mass transfer and principles of mathematical modeling of such systems are also discussed. In the further part of the text, the results of experimental studies and comparison of these results with calculations based on the mathematical model of adsorption were presented.
    Niniejsza praca ma na celu zaprezentowanie technologii agregatów adsorpcyjnych. Przedstawiono zasadę działania takich systemów, a mianowicie par adsorbat-adsorbent, które są często stosowane oraz technik ulepszania, które pozwalają na poprawę ich wydajności. Przedyskutowano także analizę przepływu masy oraz zasad modelowania matematycznego takich systemów. W dalszej części przedstawiono wyniki badań eksperymentalnych oraz porównanie takich wyników z obliczeniami na podstawie modelu matematycznego adsorpcji.

    Opis:
    Skin disorders, a prevalent cause of illnesses, may be identified by studying their physical structure and history of the condition. Currently, skin diseases are diagnosed using invasive procedures such as clinical examination and histology. The examinations are quite effective and beneficial. This paper describes an evolutionary model for skin disease classification and detection based on machine learning and image processing. This model integrates image preprocessing, image augmentation, segmentation, and machine learning algorithms. The experimental investigation makes use of a dermatology data set. The model employs the machine learning methods: the support vector machine (SVM), the k-nearest neighbors (KNN), and random forest algorithms for image categorization and detection. This suggested methodology is beneficial for the accurate identification of skin disease using image analysis. The SVM algorithm achieved an accuracy of 98.8%. The KNN algorithm achieved a sensitivity of 91%. The specificity of KNN was 99%.

    The article undertakes the problem of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) research with reference to Nick Bostrom’s concept of existential risk and Ingmar Persson’s/Julian Savulescu’s proposal of biomedical moral enhancement from a pedagogical-anthropological perspective. A major focus will be put on the absence of pedagogical paradigms within the techno-progressive discourse, which results in a very reduced idea of education and human development. In order to prevent future existential risks, the techno-progressive discourse should at least to some extent refer to the qualitative approaches of humanities. Especially pedagogical anthropology reflects the presupposed and therefore frequently unarticulated images of man within the various scientific disciplines and should hence be recognized as a challenge to the solely quantitative perspective of AGI researches and transhumanism. I will argue that instead of forcing man to adapt physically to artificial devices, as the techno-progressive discourses suggest, the most efficient way of avoiding future existential risks concerning the relationship between mankind and highly advanced technology would be—as John Gray Cox proposes—making AGIs adopt crucial human values, which would integrate their activity into the social interactions of the lifeworld (Lebenswelt).
    Artykuł podejmuje problematykę badań nad ogólną sztuczną inteligencją (OSI) w odniesieniu do koncepcji ryzyka egzystencjalnego Nicka Bostroma oraz propozycji moralnego ulepszenia człowieka Ingmara Perssona i Juliana Savulescu z perspektywy pedagogiczno-antropologicznej. Główny nacisk zostanie położony na nieobecność paradygmatu pedagogicznego w dyskursie techno-progresywnym, co wiąże się z bardzo ograniczoną ideą edukacji i rozwoju ludzkiego. Aby móc zapobiec przyszłym ryzykom egzystencjalnym, dyskurs techno-progresywny powinien przynajmniej w jakimś stopniu odnieść się do jakościowego podejścia humanistyki. Antropologia pedagogiczna jest tą dziedziną wiedzy, która w szczególności podejmuje refleksję nad z góry przyjmowanymi i przez to często niewyartykułowanymi obrazami człowieka, funkcjonującymi w obrębie rozmaitych dyscyplin naukowych, i to właśnie ona powinna z tego powodu być postrzegana jako wyzwanie dla wyłącznie ilościowej perspektywy badań nad OSI i transhumanizmem. Będę argumentować, iż zamiast zmuszać człowieka do fizycznej adaptacji do sztucznych urządzeń, jak to sugerują dyskursy techno-progresywne, najbardziej skuteczna droga uniknięcia przyszłego ryzyka egzystencjalnego wynikającego z relacji między człowiekiem a wysoko rozwiniętą technologią mogłaby polegać – jak proponuje John Gray Cox – na sprawieniu, aby OSI przyjęła podstawowe wartości humanistyczne, które zintegrowałyby jej aktywność w społecznych interakcjach zachodzących w obrębie świata życia (Lebenswelt).
