    The paper is devoted to selected issues related to the strategies and procedures used in the translation process. It considers the description of the selected classification, i.e. the typology of translation techniques according to Ulrich Kautz, illustrated by numerous examples. The considerations include an evaluation by bachelor students of the Department of German Studies at the University of Rzeszów, concerning the identification/ selection/ application/ verification of translation strategies and techniques in the practical training of translation efficiency and mastering new vocabulary in a given subject area.

    La presente contribución ofrece reflexiones acerca del papel de los traductores en la universidad. El autor ha tenido un no poco estimable recorrido como traductor y académico, de modo que ofrece un punto de vista, fruto de sus experiencias que, con todo su componente individual, remite asimismo a una experiencia colectiva; inspirado en el modelo hermenéutico de Georges Steiner, tiene en cuenta un nivel subjetivo, inherente también al trabajo del traductor-académico. Comprende, pues, la situación de la figura del traductor e investigador de literatura en la universidad y en el mercado editorial polaco, así como sus interrelaciones.
    The paper presents reflections about the role of a translator in the university. This text is the result of personal experience of a translator and university professor. The reflection according to the hermeneutic model of Georges Steiner, therefore based on the subjective of the translator-academic, analyses the situation of the translator and researcher of literature in the university and in the Polish publishing market, as well as their interrelationships.

    Opis:
    This article outlines the approach adopted by Władysław Syrokomla (the pen name of Ludwik Kondratowicz) in his translation of Latin verse and examines, by analyzing some of the poems he translated into Polish, how it worked in practice. He believed that the translator should strive for an empathic attunement to the writers voice (Einfühlung) while ‘remaining oneself’ and that abandoning ‘slavish imitation’ was the best way to animate a poem (an approach much criticized by philological authorities). These ideas are discussed in the fi rst part of the article; the second part contains analyses of his translations of Latin odes written by Maciej Sarbiewski, i.e. Ode I 19 (Ad caelestem adspirat patriam), II 3 (Ad suam testudinem), and IV 12 (Ad Ianum Libinium. Solitudinem suam excusat). Syrokomla does not engage in any intertextual games with the ancients; instead, he adapts the original to the formal and stylistic conventions of his time, most notably the Romantic concept of the poem as a projection of a poetic consciousness (‘ego’). In effect, Sarbiewski’s (neo) classical poetic personas become versions of the Romantic hero, most conspicuously in the case of Ode IV 12.

    У науковій розвідці презентовано огляд часопису "Studia Ucrainica Varsoviensia" за десять років його існування (2013–2022) з нагоди ювілею. Простежено зміст цього видання у фокусі проблематики українського та компаративного мовознавства, що було спроєктоване на одиниці всіх рівнів мовної системи, а також теорію і практику художнього перекладу. З’ясовано, що проблематика статей стосується таких порівняно нових лінгвістичних напрямів, як лінгвокультурологія та лінгвоконцептологія, психолінгвістика, теорія мовної особистості й лінгвоемоціологія, теолінгвістика й лінгвоаксіологія, політична й комунікативна лінгвістика, а також лінгвістика тексту, дискурслінгвістика, лінгвожанрологія, щоденникознавство й лінгвістична експертиза. Чимало статей виконані в руслі традиційного мовознавства, зокрема української діалектології, історії української мови та усіх розділів науки про сучасну українську мову (фонетика й фонологія, словотвір, лексикологія, зокрема й термінологія, та пареміологія, граматика, включаючи морфологію і синтаксис, а також стилістика). Особливий інтерес простежуємо до проблематики ономастики та новітньої української соціолінгвістики. Автори статей актуалізували основні методологійні принципи сучасного мовознавства: антропоцентризм, слово-, тексто- та дискурсоцентризм, міждисциплінарність, лінгвістичний когнітивізм, прагматизм, функціоналізм, структуралізм, а також постулати філософії мови: семантики, синтактики і прагматики.
    The paper presents a review of the 'Studia Ukrainica Varsoviensia' journal for its tenyear existence (2013–2022) on the occasion of the anniversary. The author analyzes the content of the journal focusing mainly upon the Ukrainian and comparative linguistics issues being projected on the units of all the language system levels, as well as the theory and practice of artistic translation. The paper finds that the issues of the journal articles are related to such modern linguistic trends as linguocultural studies and linguoconceptology, psycholinguistics, linguistic personality theory and linguoemotionology, theolinguistics and linguoaxiology, political and communicative linguistics, as well as text linguistics, discourse linguistics, linguistic genre studies, diary studies and linguistic expertise. Many research papers are written in the field of traditional linguistics, in particular Ukrainian dialectology, the Ukrainian language history and all the branches of the modern Ukrainian language study (phonetics and phonology, word formation, lexicology, including terminology and paremiology; grammar, including morphology and syntax; as well as stylistics). The researchers are particularly interested in the problems of onomastics and modern Ukrainian sociolinguistics. The authors of the research papers under consideration updated the main methodological principles of modern linguistics: anthropocentrism, word, text- and discourse-centrism, interdisciplinarity, linguistic cognitivism, pragmatism, functionalism, structuralism, as well as the language philosophy postulates: semantics, syntactics and pragmatics.
