Opis:
The concept of small town contains meanings that seem to be important from the point of view of spatial structure analysis. ‘Small’ refers to the numer of inhabitants, which is the basis for including a city in a certain size group. ‘Town’ or ‘city’ in the basic sense can be considered as a historically shaped settlement unit. The components of the city: buildings, public spaces, technical infrastructure, urban composition and an active community make up urban space and the life in it – the essence of urbanity. Silesian voivodeship contains 35 urban settlements which can be categorized as small towns. The smallest of them is Sośniowice with about 2 000 inhabitants, and the largest is Orzesze with a population of 19 199. So the question is whether the size of a city affects the quality of life in the city? And are the conditions in the largest of them – Orzesze – better than in other, smaller towns? The aim of the article is thus an attempt to demonstrate the usefulness of the study of cities’ spatial structure as a tool in the field of spatial planning and urban design, allowing to answer the stated question and identify possible corrective actions aimed at improving the quality of life in the city.
W województwie śląskim zlokalizowanych jest 35 miast kwalifikujących się do grupy miast małych, z czego najmniejsze – Sośnicowice liczą poniżej 2 tys. mieszkańców, zaś Orzesze z liczbą 19 199 mieszkańców jest największym małym miastem w grupie. Pojawia się więc pytanie, czy wielkość miasta ma wpływ na jego miejskość? I czy największe z nich – Orzesze jest „bardziej miejskie” od pozostałych mniejszych miast? Celem artykułu jest próba wykazania przydatności diagnozy struktury przestrzennej miasta, jako narzędzia z dziedziny planowania przestrzennego i urbanistyki, pozwalającego dać odpowiedź na postawiony problem, jak i wskazać ewentualne działania zmierzające do podniesienia jakości życia w mieście.

The present article presents the genesis of the international conference: andhighGeometry and geometrical education in the current second high school, which took place on November 22-25, 2012 in Togliatti StateUniversity. This conference was dedicated to the 70th jubilee of professorW.A. Gusiew (В.А. Гусев), world-wide famous professor of Mathematicseducation, author and co-author of Geometry textbooks and methodologicalguidebooks for teachers of Maths, published for the need of students’ geometricaleducation and having recommendation of the Russian Ministry ofEducation and Science. In this work the crucial threads of the plenary lectureof professor W.A. Gusiew and the points of the scientific program of theTogliatti Conference are discussed. The plenary lecture, as well as papersand groups’ and round table discussions revealed the results of research onthe problems of Geometry, and the state, quality and current problems ofgeometrical education of pupils and students. Both Russian and foreign participantsof the conference, while judging and summarizing the results of theconference, jointly expressed their concerns about the slow pace of adaptingthe educational systems to the Bologna process, and about the current stateand quality of Maths education. The legitimacy of those concerns is shownby the lower motivation of pupils and students to study Geometry and Maths, reduced number of Maths hours in school, confusing standards of Mathseducation, reduced requirements on the Maths school-leaving examinationand Maths exams in universities.

The study is devoted to the most important problems of the Polish prison system and most often met innovations taken to the purpose of these minimizations of problems. Among the most important problems an overpopulation of penitentiaries was being analyzed, the phenomenon of unemployment of prisoners and disrupting the influence of the leisure time of inmates. Next among others action associated with increasing the residential space was being ranked among most often taken initiatives improving the contemporary penitentiary system (including the use of supervision electronic), with the extension of places of employment and the rise in the remuneration for the work, of implementing methods of the creative social rehabilitation.On account of the fact that these initiatives have more and more universal character from here one should nurse a hope, that contributing to reduce existing penitentiary problems will cause increasing the effectiveness of rehabilitation influences.
Opracowanie poświęcone jest najważniejszym problemom polskiego więziennictwa oraz najczęściej spotykanym innowacjom podejmowanym w celu minimalizacji tych problemów. Wśród najważniejszych problemów zanalizowano przeludnienie zakładów karnych, zjawisko bezrobocia skazanych oraz dezorganizujący wpływ czasu wolnego osadzonych. Z kolei do najczęściej podejmowanych inicjatyw doskonalących współczesny system penitencjarny zaliczono m.in. działania związane ze zwiększeniem powierzchni mieszkalnej (w tym również wykorzystania dozoru elektronicznego) i liczby miejsc pracy, wzrostem wynagrodzenia za pracę, wprowadzaniem metod twórczej resocjalizacji. Ze względu na to, że powyższe inicjatywy mają coraz bardziej powszechny charakter, należy żywić nadzieję, iż przyczyniając się do zmniejszenia istniejących problemów penitencjarnych, spowodują zwiększenie skuteczności oddziaływań resocjalizacyjnych.

The aim of this article is the presentation and analysis of the selected ethical dilemmas and legal problems of a researcher in the study of the difficult way of life. There are a lot of questions about the ethical, decent and legal manner of research and behaviour in relation with the participators of the research. The practical aim of this article is the answer to the question – what should we do when we have various ethical dilemmas in our studies. A special difficult situation concerns the researcher – a  pedagogue of social rehabilitation, because by conducting research on the phenomena of social exclusion or social pathology, he/she describes and analyses situations related to crime, para-criminal behaviours, addictions, touches the problems of deep diagnosis of disorders or therapy. During scientific research, he / she ‘goes deeper’ into difficult situations, ethical dilemmas, and brushes against legal problems. The guarantee of his/her safety, but above all the safety of respondents, is the legal awareness and ethical responsibility of the pedagogue. Although the article is not a complete and comprehensive study, it responds to the needs of researchers who themselves have to answer many questions about legal issues and solve any ethical dilemmas themselves in the process of collecting and developing data.

As an industry, road transport of goods is developing very quickly and dynamically. Due to the growing competition, more and more transport companies decide to use telematics in order to support their fleet management. There are many such systems on the market, which is why it is difficult to make the right choice. At the same time, no up-to-date results of tests of telematics solutions in lorry fleets are published. The data presented in the paper was obtained under the PARP project. The analysis focuses on the stage of launching such systems. Procedures for implementing telematics systems are analysed, and then the arising problems are identified. The aim of the paper is to identify mistakes made during the implementation of the technologies in question. The conclusions reached will be useful to both providers of the technologies and their users as part of activities aimed at eliminating these inconveniences.

Celem tekstu jest prezentacja wyników przeprowadzonego badania. Polegało ono na analizie wypowiedzi początkujących nauczycieli na forum internetowym. Poszukiwano odpowiedzi na pytanie, z jakimi problemami i wątpliwościami zmagają się młodzi nauczyciele. Przeprowadzone badanie mieści się w jakościowej strategii badań. Zastosowano metodę analizy tekstów, którymi były wypowiedzi początkujących nauczycieli na forum internetowym.
The aim of the text is to present the results of our audit. It was based on the analysis of expression of new teachers in the online forum. Sought to answer the question of what problems and doubts struggling young teachers. Determination of the activity of teachers in the online forum as devoid of censorship, is to expose the potential of this area of research.

Year of Faith was a special occasion for reflection on the catechetical ways that catechesis must try to fulfill its primary obligation “to deal with the witnesses of the Gospel to the ends of the world”. In the case of social – cultural changes it is necessary to activate new evangelization, based on the ecclesial Kerygma in Christian life to draw power from faith for apostolic ministry.

Combat stress in the context of counter-insurgency US-led Operation Enduring Freedom in AfghanistanThe article discusses the problems associated with combat stress in the context of counter-insurgency US-led Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The author analyzes how this phenomenon was defined historically as well as during the above-mentioned conflict; he tries to define how it could have shaped the behavior of the soldier on the battlefield, what precautions were undertaken to counteract it and what were the consequences of long-term stress on the soldiers.  The author of the article mentions the main factors which generated combat stress and presents the role of leaders in stress management.  Following the theoretical part of the article, the author shows the environment of combat stress on an example of a concrete combat situation and an effective reaction and conduct of the leader-commander in this situation.  American field manuals and literature relating to military medicine – psychiatry, as well as materials published by the US military and government institutions, have been used as source materials for the above publication.

Opis:
The article undertakes an analysis of decision-making methods used in solving difficult-formalized problems of medical diagnostics and treatment. A formal model of a medical expert system is proposed, with the purpose of selecting medical pharmaceutical treatment systems. The important task at any stage of the medical evaluation is to determine the general condition of the patient, the depth of the pathological process and the operational control of the effec-tiveness of treatment for timely correction. These problems can be attributed to a large class of practical problems in the weakly formalized decision-making process in the treatment of patients.
W artykule przedstawiono analizę metod wspomagania podejmowania decyzji, które są prze-znaczone do rozwiązywania słabo sformalizowanych problemów diagnostyki medycznej i lecze-nia. Zaprezentowano formalny model systemu eksperckiego, którego celem jest usprawnienie sposobu farmaceutycznego leczenia pacjentów. Najważniejsze zadania na każdym etapie oceny medycznej to określenie ogólnego stanu pa-cjenta i głębokości procesu patologicznego oraz prowadzenie kontroli skuteczności leczenia i jego odpowiednia korekta. Zadania te są powiązane z szeroką klasą praktycznych problemów występujących w słabo sformalizowanym procesie podejmowania decyzji dotyczących leczenia pacjentów.

W artykule podjęto temat postrzegania problemów w zagospodarowaniu Łodzi przez osoby z niego korzystające. Analizie poddano 160 szczegółowych wypowiedzi pisemnych młodych użytkowników przestrzeni miejskiej, uzupełnionych przez autorkę danymi o charakterze obiektywnym. W opracowaniu założono zbadanie struktury rodzajowej problemów i ich przyczyn, rozmieszczenia i struktury własnościowej nieruchomości dotkniętych nieprawidłowościami, a także ukazanie propozycji rozwiązań przedstawionych problemów. Badane osoby najsilniej krytykowały zaniedbanie i  dewastacje tkanki miejskiej w  centralnej części miasta, a także zakłócenia ładu przestrzennego w sferze wizualnej. W subiektywnej opinii „winę” za te problemy ponoszą przede wszystkim prywatni inwestorzy, ale także władze – odpowiadające za projekty inwestycji, uchwalanie prawa lokalnego i jego egzekucję. Wśród najwazniejszych działań na rzecz rozwiązania sytuacji problemowych znalazły się inwestycje infrastrukturalne oraz optymalizacja prawa lokalnego i procedur administracyjnych  
In this article urban users’ perception of problems in the development of Lódz is analyzed. It concerns 160 essays prepared by young people who move around the city regularly. The opinions were supplemented by the author with objective data. The paper examines the range of problems and reasons for their appearance, spatial pattern and ownership of estates affected by improprieties, and presents solutions suggested in this field. People participating in the research heavily criticized negligence and devastation of the urban tissue in the central part of the city, as well as disruptions of spatial order in its visual dimension. According to subjective opinions, the main actors responsible for those problems are private investors and the authorities who carry out investment projects, pass law and execute it. Among crucial actions suggested for solving problems in the built environment there are infrastructural investments as well as optimization of local law and administrative procedures.

This article presents questions about writing the part święty (Saint, Holy) in the verbal connections like Święty (or święty) Piotr (Saint Peter), Święta (or święta) Trójca (Holy Trinity), Święty (or święty) Duch (Holy Spirit), kościół św. Jana (St. John’s Church), which are addressed by users of the Polish language to the language clinics’ sites. The current rules of orthography (the capital or lowercase in phrases with święty) are not clear – so giving the correct answer may be a real problem and a challenge for language institutions. This issue is an example which shows what is the role of these clinics in the promotion of linguistic awareness.

Wraz z nowymi możliwościami, jakie dziś oferuje świat, powstały nowe zagrożenia. Szybsza i lepsza komunikacja, bezproblemowe dotarcie do niemal każdego interesującego obszaru wiedzy, a także ważność informacji i polityczna poprawność doprowadziły do rozszerzenia pola działania współczesnej formy marksizmu w tychże strefach, lecz przede wszystkim w kulturze. Jednostka, będąc stale pod napływem nowych bodźców, przyjmuje pewne postawy, często wygenerowane na podstawie wcześniej obserwowalnych czy też podświadomie zaszczepione za pomocą przekazów medialnych, wizualnych, kulturowych. Jednym z badaczy zajmujących się tą tematyką jest słoweński filozof i krytyk kultury, Slavoj Žizek. Przybliża on problemy, z jakimi stykają się jednostki we współczesnej rzeczywistości, i z sobie właściwą manierą zajmuje wobec nich krytyczne stanowisko.

Faster and better communication, trouble-free access to almost any interesting area of knowledge, as well as the importance of information and political correctness led to the expansion of the field of operation of the modern form of Marxism in these zones, but above all in culture. The individual, constantly under the influx of new stimuli, adopts certain attitudes, often generated on the basis of previously observable, or subconsciously instilled with the help of media, visual and cultural messages. One of the researchers dealing with this subject is the Slovenian philosopher and cultural critic, Slavoj Žizek. He introduces problems faced by individuals in modern reality and takes a critical attitude towards them with his typpical manner.

Artykuł ten prezentuje problematykę tekstów pisanych przez Głuchych. Teksty te mają cechy typowe dla tekstów nazywanych patologicznymi. Jednakże ich patologia nie jest tak oczywista, ponieważ błędy popełniane przez Głuchych są wynikiem głębokich różnic między polskim systemem językowym (językiem audialnym) a systemem polskiego języka migowego (PJM), który jest językiem manualnym. Jeśli osoba słysząca popełnia wiele rażących błędów w tekstach pisanych w języku obcym, tekstów tych nie nazywamy „patologicznymi”. Z taką sama sytuacją mamy do czynienia, gdy Głusi piszą swoje teksty w języku polskim. W rzeczywistości posługują się oni obcym dla nich językiem i dlatego ich tekstów także nie powinno traktować się jako patologiczne, lecz jako błędne.
This article presents the problems of the texts written by Deaf. These texts contain all typical features of the texts called pathological. However, their pathology is apparent because mistakes made by the Deaf are result of a profound difference between the Polish language system (audio language) and the system of the Polish Sign Language (PJM) which is the manual language. If the personhearing makes a lot of glaring mistakes in texts written in a foreign language we don’t call his texts “pathological”. The same situation is when Deaf writes the texts in the Polish language. In fact, he writes in a foreign language system so we can’t call these texts “pathological” either.
