In this paper, new non-quadratic stability conditions are derived based on the parallel distributed compensation scheme to stabilize Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. We use a non-quadratic Lyapunov function as a fuzzy mixture of multiple quadratic Lyapunov functions. The quadratic Lyapunov functions share the same membership functions with the T-S fuzzy model. The stability conditions we propose are less conservative and stabilize also fuzzy systems which do not admit a quadratic stabilization. The proposed approach is based on two assumptions. The first one relates to a proportional relation between multiple Lyapunov functions and the second one considers an upper bound to the time derivative of the premise membership functions. To illustrate the advantages of our proposal, four examples are given.

This paper deals with the application of a variable structure observer developed for a class of nonlinear systems to solve the trajectory tracking problem for rigid robot manipulators. The analyzed approach to observer design proposes a simple design methodology for systems having completely observable linear parts and bounded nonlinearities and/or uncertainties. This observer is basically the conventional Luenberger observer with an additional switching term that is used to guarantee robustness against modeling errors and system uncertainties. To solve the tracking problem, we use a control law developed for robot manipulators in the full information case. The closed loop system is shown to be globally asymptotically stable based on Lyapunov arguments. Simulation results on a 3-DOF robot manipulator show the asymptotic convergence of the vectors of observation and tracking errors.

In this paper, a novel bacterial foraging algorithm (BFA) based approach for robust and optimal design of PID controller connected to power system stabilizer (PSS) is proposed for damping low frequency power oscillations of a single machine infinite bus bar (SMIB) power system. This paper attempts to optimize three parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd) of PID-PSS based on foraging behaviour of Escherichia coli bacteria in human intestine. The problem of robustly selecting the parameters of the power system stabilizer is converted to an optimization problem which is solved by a bacterial foraging algorithm with a carefully selected objective function. The eigenvalue analysis and the simulation results obtained for internal and external disturbances for a wide range of operating conditions show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed BFAPSS. Further, the time domain simulation results when compared with those obtained using conventional PSS and Genetic Algorithm (GA) based PSS show the superiority of the proposed design.

Opis:
Credit risk is the most important risk among all other risks in the banking business, because almost over 80% of bank balance sheets relate to this segment of banking risk management. One of the biggest problems of commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina are non-performing loans whose share in total loans has increased significantly since the onset of the global financial crisis. The main objective of the research is to determine which of the macroeconomic variables have the strongest impact on the increase of return on average equity and whether it is possible to reduce the credit risk of banks with adequate legislation as the main factor in the slowdown in credit expansion. The main goal will be to divide the impact of an independent variable, i.e. the share of liquid assets in total assets and whether its increase indirectly affects the return on equity and indirectly, the credit risk. The quantitative model used in this study will be the Merton model. Testing will be conducted through multiple regression analysis for the period 2008-2016 with the help of the software package STATA.

The paper concentrates on changes in the public finance sector in recent years: a topic of great importance from the viewpoint of maintaining stability of finan‑ cial system and from both national and EU perspective. The effects of the current financial crisis have stressed the need for action to reduce the growing deficit and public debt. Debt crisis shows that it is necessary to conduct an effective fiscal con‑ solidation to put and maintain economies of many countries on a path of sustain‑ able growth. The paper begins with a brief presentation of theory. In the following part, the paper discusses structural and cyclical causes of the rising debt. Changes in the legal environment, including key issues, were also discussed. Fiscal rules, fiscal councils and the fiscal pact were therefore analyzed in detail. The authors furthermore pay attention to certain limitations and weaknesses of fiscal policy, stressing the necessity to look at the economy from a broader perspective and to use other tools and instruments of state policy. The study includes recent data on GDP, the budget deficit, public debt and expenditure and revenue in the EU.

Opis:
Disturbance rejection performance optimization with constraints on robustness for a multivariable process is commonly encountered in industrial control applications. This paper presents the tuning of a multi-loop Proportional Integral (PI) controller method to enhance the performance of load disturbance rejection using evolutionary optimization. The proposed design methodology is formulated to minimize the load disturbance rejection response and the input control energy under the constraints of robust stability. The minimum singular value of multiplicative uncertainty is considered a multi-loop system robust stability indicator. Optimization is performed to achieve the same, or higher level than the most-explored Direct Synthesis (DS) based multi-loop PI controller, which is derived from a conventional criterion. Simulation analysis clearly proved that the proposed multi-loop PI controller tuning method gives better disturbance rejection, and either, the same or a higher level of robust stability when compared to the DS-based multi-loop PI controller.

The goal of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is to select the most appropriate of the alternatives by evaluating many conflicting criteria together. MCDM methods are widely available in the literature and have been used in various energy problems. The key problems studied in electrical power systems in recent years have included voltage instability and voltage collapse. Different flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) equipment has been used for this purpose for decades, increasing voltage stability while enhancing system efficiency, reliability and quality of supply, and offering environmental benefits. Finding the best locations for these devices in terms of voltage stability in actual electrical networks poses a serious problem. Many criteria should be considered when determining the most suitable location for the controller. The aim of this paper is to provide a comparative analysis of MCDM techniques to be used for optimal location of a static VAR compensator (SVC) device in terms of voltage stability. The ideal location can be determined by means of sorting according to priority criteria. The proposed approach was carried out using the Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT) in MATLAB in the IEEE 14-bus test system. Using ten different MCDM methods, the most appropriate locations were compared among themselves and a single ranking list was obtained, integrated with the Borda count method, which is a data fusion technique. The application results showed that the methods used are consistent among themselves. It was revealed that the integrated model was an appropriate method that could be used for optimal location selection, providing reliable and satisfactory results to power system planners.

This paper studies an LMI optimization problem of delay-dependent robust stability criteria for stochastic systems with polytopic and linear fractional uncertainties. The delay is assumed to be time-varying and belong to a given interval, which means that lower and upper bounds of this interval time-varying delay are available. The uncertainty under consideration includes polytopic-type uncertainty and linear fractional norm-bounded uncertainty. Based on the new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some inequality techniques and stochastic stability theory, delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Moreover, the derivative of time delays is allowed to take any value. Finally, four numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and to show an improvement over some results found in the literature.

W pracy przedstawiono model pojazdu kołowego o napędzie hybrydowym zbudowanym w oprogramowaniu MATLAB/Simulink. W modelu przyjęto założenia sterowania silnikiem spalinowym jako maszyną napędzającą pojazd kołowy i generator elektryczny. Takie podejście wymaga zbadania stabilności układu napędowego, w którym silnik spalinowy raz będzie napędzał tylko i wyłącznie generator elektryczny, zaś w innym przypadku tylko i wyłącznie pojazd kołowy. Sprawa komplikuje się jeszcze bardziej w chwili wspomagania silnika elektrycznego silnikiem spalinowym (synergia energii). Dlatego w pracy podjęto próbę opisu układu napędowego pojazdu kołowego równaniami różniczkowymi, a następnie zbadania stabilności takiego układu w sensie Lapunowa.
The paper presents a model of a hybrid wheeled vehicle built in the Matlab/Simulink software. In the model controlling by a combustion engine as a driving unit of wheeled vehicle and an electric generator were assumed. Such approach requires an examination of the stability of the propulsion system for which an internal combustion engine will power once and only an electric generator, while in other case only the wheeled vehicle. The case is more complicated when the electric motor is supported by the combustion engine (Synergy Energy). Therefore, the study attempts to describe the propulsion system of a wheeled vehicle by differential equations and then to examine the stability of such system in the sense of Lyapunov's theory were undertaken.

Opis:
Sufficient conditions for the conditional stability of trivial solutions for quadratic systems of ordinary differential equations are obtained. These conditions are then used to design linear control laws on the output for a bilinear system of any order. In the case of a homogeneous system, a domain of the conditional stability is also indicated (it is a cone). Some examples are given.

The problem of linear feedback design for bilinear control systems guaranteeing their conditional closed-loop stability is considered. It is shown that this problem can be reduced to investigating the conditional stability of solutions of quadratic systems of differential equations depending on parameters of the control law. Sufficient conditions for stability in the cone of a homogeneous quadratic system are obtained. For second-order systems, invariant conditions of conditional asymptotic stability are found.

This paper presents a new approach in the field of trajectory tracking for nonholonomic mobile robot in presence of disturbances. The proposed control design is constructed by a kinematic controller, based on PD sliding surface using fuzzy sliding mode for the angular and linear velocities disturbances, in order to tend asymptotically the robot posture error to zero. Thereafter a dynamic controller is presented using as a sliding surface design, a fast terminal function (FTF) whose parameters are generated by a genetic algorithm in order to converge the velocity errors to zero in finite time and guarantee the asymptotic stability of the system using a Lyapunov candidate. The elaborated simulation works in the case of different trajectories confirm the robustness of the proposed approach.

The concept of the Phylocode has been evolving for some twenty years, and is supported by Lee and Skinner (2007): I argue against it here. The first issue is stability, and biologists must decide whether they seek rigidity (Phylocode) or flexibility and conservativeness of clade contents (Linnaean codes). Phylocode names for taxa are by definition stable because they are established as labels for clades that are rigidly defined as geometric constructs. But this is not real stability because the species contained within those clades can change dramatically: an example is given where Phylocode practice forces a decision about the name Deinonychosauria, which can contain 20 or 10,000 species depending on which current tree is correct. Linnaean systems offer real stability (= conservativeness + flexibility) where the taxon name can be moved subtly up and down nodes in a tree to keep its association with a particular character or group of species. Proponents of the Phylocode argue that category/rank terms should be dispensed with, and yet they have no need to do this. Everyone accepts that Linnaean ranks are subjective, and yet there is no benefit in abandoning ranks because they have proved to be of such value to users of classifications, and genera and families, for example, act as valuable surrogates for species in large−scale evolutionary and ecological studies. Finally, the Phylocode extends regulation beyond names and their proper use into determining the validity of phylogenetic hypotheses, and this will act as a limit on normal scientific debate.

In this paper, a system of Lyapunov equations A*i P + PAi = −Qi (i = 1, . . . ,m), (A) is considered in which Ai are given n × n complex matrices, Qi are unknown n × n Hermitian positive definite matrices and P, if any, is a common solution to the Lyapunov equations (A). Both sufficient and necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of such a matrix P. Examples are presented to illustrate the results.
