Opis:
The article deals with the concept and classification of phraseological units, transformations application while phraseological units creating, functions of phraseological units in the fiction text, role of author’s phraseology. The purpose of the article is to analyze the use and creation of phraseological units in Mark Twain’s novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, their structure; substantiate the transformations of phraseological units that were used in the novel, their role in the work. Having analyzed the phraseologisms of the novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, the authors studied about 400 phraseological fusions, phraseological unities, phraseological combinations, including authorial ones, phrasal verbs, and also phraseological units that are formed by means of transformations: compression or decompression, replacement and others. The authors state that in most cases phraseological units are used in the evaluative and emotional-expressive functions, function of creating humour and satire, functions of portrait characterization and linguistic characteristics of the character, function of the plot basis and less often synonymous amplification or injection of features. It must be noted that in order to have a more complete and in-depth picture of phraseological units of the novel application and functioning it is necessary to carry out the comparative analysis of different translations of the novel into Ukrainian and study the ways phraseological units rendering into Ukrainian.

Opis:
The article discusses problems of the social distinctness of natural languages (on example of Polish language and Russian). According to the author, stylistic function is one of basic functions of sentence, and namely consists in the subordinating of the form, structure and content of sentence, the definite communication context and, first of all, the definite social groups as well as definite types of social reports. The manifesting of the stylistic function with the help of specialized, on example, lexical, expressions is the norm of linguistic communication. The author considers two basic notions of sociolinguistics: the functional styles and the social variants of language (the sociolects), and beyond this the related notion - the species of text. The structure of stylistic function according to the author consists with two meanings: the participants’ profile as well as the profile of contact. First meaning has four changes: regional, biological, and individual. In range „the profile of contact” it distinguishes two detailed meanings: contact „the man - the man” and contact „the man - the text”. The author distinguishes nine types of contacts of this second kind: scientific, productive, didactic, administrative, medial, advertising, sacred, artistic and common. Near the two stylistic parameters (the participants’ profile as well as the profile of contact) the author in axiomatic way distinguishes and describes four kinds of sentence and texts: a) the participants’ profile +, the profile of contact +; b) the participants’ profile +, the profile of contact -; c) the participants’ profile -, the profile of contact +; d) the participants’ profile -, the profile of contact -.

Opis:
The suburban slang is characterized by usage of code words and words borrowed from various linguistic communities, generation of new meanings for existing words. It is increasingly used in the contemporary drama, becomes an essential component of individual style of the playwright: slang items acquire metaphorical senses, contribute to the rhythmic organization of the theatre play.
L’argot de la banlieue se caractérise par l’utilisation de mots codés, l’abondance d’emprunts à diverses communautés linguistiques, les emplois récents et branchés des mots existants. Il est de plus en plus employé dans les textes dramatiques, devient un composant essentiel du style individuel de l’auteur : les termes argotiques acquièrent des sens métaphoriques, contribuent à l’organisation de la structure rythmique de la pièce.

Opis:
After painstakingly anatomizing in a previous book (s. DIP) the function verb phrase (FVP) in German and tracking down English combinations which display the morpho syntactical pattern, comply with the lexicosemantic criteria and assume the stylistic features, characteristic of “Funktionsverbgeflige” (FVGs), I resume in the present contribution my relentless quest for lexicomorphological conveyors of FVGs, this time in Romaniana Romance language - and then, in a second stage, try to go with a fine tooth-comb through the semantic and stylistic shifts following in the wake of FVPs as employed by the three languages at issue (German, English and Romanian). The opening section of the paper at hand searches in a first phase through the samples of Romanian FVPs extracted from various sources and assigns them to the aspect subcategories which they most fittingly illustrate: ingressive, punctual, iterative and egressive. In a second phase the analysis focuses on type a-§i ie$i din rábdári FVPs which convey a transition from one state to another and, consequently, admit of a double-barrelled interpretation, i.e. both egressive and ingressive - hence the labels ‘contradiction in terms’ and ‘transitive aspect’ I put forward as indicative of their idiosyncratic behaviour. The third and final phase of my survey is devoted to investigating stylistic synonymy as well as defending such intriguing FVPs as fa ll in love and fa ll out o f love. The approach in the middle section is roughly the same, i.e. descriptive in the beginning, with copious illustration of various semantic shifts (active / reflexive > passive, active > reflexive) as well as of the contrasts and similarities observed when comparing the three languages at issue, and interpretive in the second stage, with the focus on two most challenging cases: the ‘implicit’ passive with a subject acting semantically as a ‘minor performer’; the surprisingly divergent semantics of two at first blush similar FVPs {be thrown into ecstasies and go into ecstasies). The third section investigates the involuntary as well as premeditated decomposition of idiomatic meaning in FVPs, which more often than not is to be held accountable for comic effects. The technique at work here is the superimposition of nonidiomatic meaning on the idiomatic one, which in turn triggers off the reaction phase of the listener/reader confronted when least expected with the real intentions of the speaker/writer. The effects of the interference at issue range from ambiguity through a smack of ridicule - when decomposition is unintentional - to the most sophisticated linguistic humour - when decomposition is premeditated. Since the approach is also a contrastive one, the final conclusions would only naturally relate to the rendering into another language of linguicomedy samples. Unfortunately the translatability of interference-effects-generated linguistic humour has been found to be minimum at best in most cases.
