Opis:
Three types of scholars are identified: precursor, savant, and instigator. Scholars produce creative and seminal ideas that serve to advance science. In parallel, three types of researchers are singled out: replicator, erudite, and outsider. Their work lacks creativity and originality, being mostly imitative and derivative. Science (the body of knowledge) is advanced by some, and hampered by other factors.

Opis:
This article has several aims. With the help of the original survey data, the article will analyse how Polish political scientists perceive the presence of members of their own scholarly discipline in public debate as desirable and what are their opinions on it. Secondly, the article determines to what extent the political changes initiated in 2015 have affected the general approach to media appearances, and assessments of their content and frequency. Thirdly, an attempt will also be made to determine to what extent the political convictions of political science researchers are correlated with the general assessment of the presence of researchers in public debate, the choice of media in which they are active, and the frequency of their appearances.

Opis:
According to authors opinion irony is one of fundamental ideas giving us one of the ways of thinking of world around us - anthropological thought consideration. Realizing the multiplicity of meanings, polymorphism and inhomogeneous modus operandi by using it notices analogy with every aspect of anthropological recognition - from literal one to methodology and research attitude. Polymorphism of irony is ideal but very hard to use tool, moreover the one which have many ways to operate it. It wouldn´t be misuse if author aligned it with deconstruction, because the similarity is unquestioned though not directly shown in text itself. Such juxtaposition is even more justified if considered with strong philosophic perspective of R. Rorty who had written it in “Final Vocabulary” of postmodernists. The irony can´t be completely defined- being described from centuries it acumulates meanings and attempt of its exact description is pointless - it tends to be equally on same level as deconstruction as well as one above it which may be one of ways to read or construct it.

Opis:
Aim. The aim of this article is to contribute towards a wider analysis of remote qualitative interviews taking into consideration the context of qualitative research as a social practice, which is often overlooked in the body of literature. Methods. The study is based on twelve in-depth interviews with qualitative researchers conducted by the author. The data is analysed with the focus on social aspects of qualitative interviews which engage the interviewee and the interviewer alike. Results and conclusion. The analysis shows that, from the perspective of the researcher, the social aspects of qualitative interviews constitute an important part of the research method. The interview is a meeting that combines methodological features with the attitude of involved people. Researchers are accustomed to in-person interviews and from that perspective, they evaluate possible losses caused by remote research. However, as they self-reflect, this is not always an inherent feature of the new media but rather a question of how they are used and by whom. The interview is a meeting that utilises communication habits and experiences from both sides of the conversation – the interviewer and the interviewee. It is important to take this fact into consideration while analysing the potential of remote interviews, especially when social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is changing our communication habits. Cognitive value. The remote qualitative interviews are often described from the perspective of usability and effectiveness. This article describes researchers as a part of the research process who have their own attitudes and experiences in conducting research. From the perspective of social practices, these are almost as important as the knowledge and attitude of interviewees and they also affect the results of the research process.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to present profiles of scientists and research professionals who perform activities in favour of business. Characteristics of academics with reference to their scientific achievements, professional recognition and scientific interdisciplinarity are presented. Profiles are created on the basis of analyses of empirical results collected from the survey taken among academic society. It is possible to compare profiles of researchers working for business sector to these who are eager to cooperate with companies. Characteristics concerning individual scientists refer to their age, gender, scientific degree and affiliation, together with the discipline in which they perform their scientific activities. The following study is the part of the project aimed at investigation of Polish scientific community, with reference to interdisciplinarity in research fields and performance of Polish scientists. Analyses have been focused on studying relations between interdisciplinarity of research and successes of Polish scientists achieved at national level. The core idea of the given analyses is to identify and try to measure relations between business and scientific activities. It is suggested that academics collaborating with enterprises are producing more voluble research and publications. These scientists are also appreciated as scientific professionals by academic society. Finally, researchers supporting enterprises with scientific knowledge and expertise present higher level of interdisciplnarity in their research.

What the study presents is an authorial concept of one of the possible typologies of the research into special education (in special, integrated and mainstream school). The starting point of this typology is the role and rank of the researcher (actor – observer) applied in various research concepts. In the further part, this is juxtaposed with the studies based on direct and indirect data collection. The essence of the text is an analysis of trendy and infrequent types of studies in the indicated field. This analysis incidentally refers to the correctness of the conducted explorations. The study is completed with final conclusions, which comprise a short list of the neglected issues in the field of special education.

Opis:
This paper was inspired by the debate between Hammersley (1999), Atkinson and Delamont (2009) and Denzin and Lincoln (2009 [2008]) on the dynamics of qualitative methods development and by the unsettling reductionism and fragmentation of analyses within qualitative research revealed by Atkinson. Similar critique of superficiality in biographical methods has also been formulated by scholars from the interpretative sociology tradition in Łódź (Czyżewski, 2016; Kaźmierska, 2012; Konecki, 2019; Piotrowski, 2016; Waniek, 2019), whose work is applied in pedagogy. The biographical research I conduct in small local communities reveals shifts in the positioning of research participants, but also alterations in the dynamics of grassroot inquiry initiatives in line with Participatory Inquiry Paradigm as described by Heron and Reason (1997). This article aims to characterize the “new” type of research participants, who organize and are involved in (non-academic) “research/amateur teams” within local communities, becoming collective agents of social action. Does it mean that the new “social/research awareness” (Heron & Reason, 1997) of both local actors and academic scholars who “join forces”, along with easy access to the sources, transnational links, and higher level of education trigger grassroot potential of pro-social behavior and a multi-level, polyphonic (Clifford, 1983), conscious and subconscious participation in the life of local communities?

University and business cooperation offers many benefits not only for the parties involved. It translates into innovation and competitiveness of the economy. The relationship encounters many barriers that are related to the environment (both internal and external) in which it is implemented. The aim of the article is to identify the determinants of university-business cooperation (areas of cooperation, barriers, motivations) and to point out recommendations from the perspective of scientists in Poland and the United States (USA). The experience of USA researchers can be used as a background for considerations about cooperation between universities and business in Poland, and as an example of good practices for the purpose of supporting and improving the analyzed relationships. The article focuses on selected determinants of university and business cooperation: areas of cooperation, barriers limiting it, motivations for cooperation and the possible options for its improvement (recommendations of researchers). In order to achieve the assumed goals, an individual, in-depth interview was conducted with the use of a questionnaire as the research tool. The presented results of the research showed significant differences between the models of university and business cooperation in Poland and the USA.

The paper aims to study a problem of gender stereotypes present in the academic community, harming particular researchers (especially women). In the article chosen methods of stereotypes’ counteraction are focused and analysed in terms of their risks of stereotype preservation. The concept of feminatives as a proposition of gender equalization is reflected and presented from the perspective of their drawbacks in the field of social functioning. The gender stereotypes’ influence on research participants is treated as a special aspect of the problem, peculiarly in the area of human sexuality research due to specific feedback and results’ bias. The problem is analysed then both from the systemic (contextual) perspective of academia and the particular situation of research, showing that gender may but does not have to influence scientific work.

However, the empirical evidence from the original research and its replications failed to prove and support autistic mind-blindness. Yet, it is still present in literature on autism spectrum. Meanwhile, convincing research, that has been conducted among autistic researchers and their allies, is often overlooked by non-autistic specialists. This paper focuses on how autistic autism researchers have been influencing their field of study and how academy can benefit from their work.
