Opis:: The present paper is concerned with the identification of an obstacle or void of different conductivity included in a two-dimensional domain by measurements of voltage and currents at the boundary. We employ a reformulation of the given identification problem as a shape optimization problem as proposed by Roche and Sokolowski (1996). It turns out that the shape Hessian degenerates at the given hole which gives a further hint on the ill-posedness of the problem. For numerical methods, we propose a preprocessing for detecting the barycentre and a crude approximation of the void or hole. Then, we resolve the shape of the hole by a regularized Newton method.

Opis:: A Haar wavelet operational matrix is applied to fractional integration, which has not been undertaken before. The Haar wavelet approximating method is used to reduce the fractional Volterra and Abel integral equations to a system of algebraic equations. A global error bound is estimated and some numerical examples with smooth, nonsmooth, and singular solutions are considered to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the developed method.

Opis:: We study the existence and uniqueness of the solution of a fractional boundary value problem with conformable fractional derivation of the Caputo type, which increases the interest of this study. In order to study this problem we have introduced a new definition of fractional integral as an inverse of the conformable fractional derivative of Caputo, therefore, the proofs are based upon the reduction of the problem to a equivalent linear Volterra-Fredholm integral equations of the second kind, and we have built the minimum conditions to obtain the existence and uniqueness of this solution. The analytical study is followed by a complete numerical study.

Opis:: A one dimensional heat equation in a semi-infinite medium controlled through a heat source depending on the delayed heat flux at the extremum is studied. By reducing the problem to a delayed Volterra integral equation with a weakly singular kernel, we find conditions on the initial datum and on the source term of the equation to control the asymptotic behaviour of the mean temperatures.

Opis:: A cellular automaton model is presented in order to describe mutual interactions among the individuals of a population due to social decisions.The scheme is used for getting qualitative results, comparable to field experiments carried out on a population of ants which present an aggregative behavior. We also present a second description of a biological spatially structured population of N individuals by a system of stochastic differential equations of Ito type. A 'law of large numbers' to a continuum dynamics described by an integro-differential equation is given.

Opis:: In this paper, we deal with a system of integral algebraic equations of the Hessenberg type. Using a new index definition, the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this system are studied. The well-known piecewise continuous collocation methods are used to solve this system numerically, and the convergence properties of the perturbed piecewise continuous collocation methods are investigated to obtain the order of convergence for the given numerical methods. Finally, some numerical experiments are provided to support the theoretical results.

Opis:: This article is concerned with the study of frictionless contact between a rigid punch and a transversely isotropic functionally graded layer. The rigid punch is assumed to be axially symmetric and is supposed to be pressing the layer by an applied concentrated load. The layer is resting on a rigid base and is assumed to be sufficiently thick in comparison with the amount of indentation by the rigid punch. The graded layer is modeled as a non-homogeneous medium. The relationship between the applied load P and the contact area is obtained by solving the mathematically formulated problem through using the Hankel transform of different order. Numerical results have been presented to assess the effects of functional grading of the medium and the applied load on the stress distribution in the layer as well as on the relationship between the applied load and the area of contact.

Do połowy XX wieku w dziedzinach tych dokonał się postęp za sprawą przedstawicieli lwowskiej szkoły matematycznej, warszawskiej szkoły matematycznej, moskiewskiej szkoły matematycznej i odeskiej szkoły matematycznej. Analiza ich rezultatów stanowi główną część niniejszej pracy. Szczególną uwagę zwracamy na badania matematyka radzieckiego M. A. Krasnosel'skiego, który korzystał z wyników J. Schaudera i K. Borsuka oraz z przestrzeni Orlicza przy rozwiązywaniu szerokiej klasy problemów z jakościowej teorii nieliniowych równań całkowych.
The paper includes key aspects of the history of development of qualitative methods of non-linear functional analysis (fixed point theorems, theory of mapping degree, theory of Orlicz spaces), within the framework of which Polish-Soviet interaction was most clearly manifested. In the period up to the mid-twentieth century these areas were advanced by the representatives of Lvov Mathematical School, Warsaw Mathematical School, Moscow Mathematical School and Odessa Mathematical School. Examination of their results is a significant part of this work. Much attention is paid to the investigations of the Soviet mathematician M.A. Krasnosel'skii, who used the achievements of J. Schauder and K. Borsuk as well as Orlicz spaces for solving a wide class of problems in qualitative theory of nonlinear integral equations.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono wyniki modelowania w dziedzinie czasu układu dwóch anten liniowych za pomocą układu całkowych równań Hallena. Do wyznaczenia odpowiedzi prądowych anten wykorzystano powszechnie stosowaną metodę postępu w czasie (metoda MOT) oraz schemat Galerkina-Bubnova. Wyniki modelowania potwierdzają słuszność przyjętych założeń o bezpośrednim wpływie długości kroków czasowych przyjętych w obliczeniach i położenia anten względem siebie na wielkość niestabilności pojawiających się w późnoczasowych odpowiedziach prądowych badanych obiektów.
This article is focused on modeling of two interacting thin-wire antennas in time domain. The time-domain antenna theory formulation is based on a set of the space-time Hallen integral equations. We used the marching-on in time (MOT) method and GalerkinBubnov procedure to obtain a transient responses of antennas. An analytic formulation to study the reception process, at an oblique angle of incidence, of a wire antennas excited by a transient electric fields (short Gaussian pulses) is proposed. The length of time steps and angles of incidence influences the stability of the MOT algorithm. These facts are discussed and demonstrated in numerical results.
