Opis:: The article raises an issue of love and loneliness confronted with opinion, that love is the only antidote for loneliness. Its author is submitting this thesis to a precise research. The source wish of love is motivated by aiming at avoiding loneliness. The loneliness seems to be more primary phenomenon to love. This does not necessarily mean that it is not true that love can overcome loneliness. Loneliness can only give way under the pressure of perfect love. It is an attribute of God. A man authentically immersed in that Love has a capacity for overcoming of his loneliness.

Opis:: The article provides theoretical analysis of dynamics of love and its connection with the truth about a person, in the context of ethical and metaphysical personalism. The considerations begin with the presentation of a philosophical controversy between the phenomenological and personalist recognition of love; the first indicates the empirical nature of love, whereas the second is complemented by ethics – virtue of love, related to the moral duty. Further the author undertakes to analyze the development of love including metaphysical and psychological aspects, which ends with a description of the imitations of love in the face of the mature, complete love, taking into account the truth about a person and representing the goal of education.

Opis:: In this paper, I examine the debate between advocates of male and female love in two works dedicated to this subject: Plutarch’s Amatorius (Dialogue on Love) and Lucian’s Amores (Affairs of the Heart). Plutarch, drawing on Platonic tradition, accepts and praises eros paidikos, but he condemns homosexual intercourse as an act of hybris. On the other hand, Plutarch rejects traditional Greek prejudices against women and glorifies marriage as the highest form of human relationship: he argues that conjugal love contains both the lifelong friendship and sexual relations which are a source of mutual kindness, respect and affection. In Lucian’s work the defender of pederasty, portraying it as a spiritual relationship and a mark of advanced cultural evolution, wins the debate; but in the last part of dialogue moral demands of sexual restraint in pederasty are mocked, and sexual pleasure is called “a mediator of friendship”.
