Opis:
A novel type of pulsed electromagnetic actuator is presented and modelled. Its plunger consists of two cylindrical parts made of classical magnetic material and permanent magnet, respectively. Its motion is controlled by short current pulses of the prescribed amplitude. The paper starts with the definition of the technical problem and formulation of its mathematical model. This model is then solved numerically and the whole methodology is illustrated by a typical example, whose results are discussed.

Opis:
Precision surfaces in a diesel engine’s fuel system are used in the two components. First one is the pumping section in the injection pump. The second ones are injectors. In this paper authors present results of the topography measurements of the surface of plunger and barrel assembly in the injection pump pumping section. The measurements were performed using the atomic force microscopy (AFM) NT-206. The measured surface topographies were shown in the form of two and three-dimensional views of selected areas of the investigated surfaces. There are also presented the profiles of the selected area cross-sections as well as roughness height distribution and cumulative height distribution of roughness. Additionally, the basic parameters describing the surface roughness, such as: a roughness average Ra, a root mean square value Rq of roughness, a skewness Ssk (Rsk) and kurtosis Sku (Rku), are also specified. The samples (plungers and barrels), which have been measured, come from the injection pump pumping section as a new ones and after estimated period of operation time. The lateral precision surfaces have been measured. The atomic force microscope NT-206 allows to perform scanning of the measured surface with maximum are dimensions of 32 μm x 32 μm and maximal roughness height of ± 1 m. Scanned surfaces was divided into 256x256 measuring points and the measurements were performed in the static (contact) mode. After surface scanning on the atomic force microscope, the data was calculated in the SurfaceXplorer® 1.311 or Gwyddion 2.35 software. In this paper, only selected surfaces from the several dozen performed scans are shown. The obtained results allow to determinate the degree and type of wear of tested surfaces at the micro-level.

Precision surface assemblies can be found in the two locations in a fuel system of a diesel engine. These parts are the pumping section in an injection pump and the injector nozzles. In this paper the authors present the results of surface topography measurements of precise surface assemblies of some fuel injectors. The measurements have been made with the atomic force microscope (AFM) NT-206. The results of surface topography measurements were presented in the form of 2D and 3D images and also as surface roughness profiles in some selected cross-sections of the investigated surfaces. It has been also shown cumulative roughness height distribution and roughness height distribution as well as Minkowski volume (first Minkowski functional). After scanning the surface on the atomic force microscope, the obtained data were processed with the SurfaceXplorer ® 1.311 and Gwyddion 2.35 software. The study concerned some new injector nozzles and also injector nozzles after a certain time of operation. The side and the conical precise surface assembly of the injector nozzle body and needle were tested. The atomic force microscope NT-206 allows to perform a surface scan of the sample with maximum dimensions of 32x32 μm and a maximum height of roughness ± 1 μm. Scanned area was divided into 256x256 measurement points, while the measurement was carried out in a static (contact) mode. The results presented in this paper also includes the calculated values of Ra, Sa (roughness average) and Rq, Sq (root mean square roughness) surface roughness parameters and the value of the skewness Ssk (Rsk), kurtosis Sku (Rku) and maximum distance between the lowest valley and the highest peak of investigated surface – Rt. The obtained data allow evaluating the degree and type of wear of tested surfaces on the micro-scale.

Recent research in the process of aluminum alloy die castings production, which is nowadays deeply implemented into the rapidly growing automobile, shipping and aircraft industries, is aimed at increasing the useful qualitative properties of the die casting in order to obtain its high mechanical properties at acceptable economic cost. Problem of technological factors of high pressure die casting has been a subject of worldwide research (EU, US, Japan, etc.). The final performance properties of die castings are subjected to a large number of technological factors. The main technological factors of high pressure die casting are as follows: plunger pressing speed, specific (increase) pressure, mold temperature as well as alloy temperature. The contribution discusses the impact of the plunger pressing speed and specific (increase) pressure on the mechanical properties of the casting aluminum alloy.

The paper presets flow characteristics of a hydraulic unit made up of a cylinder and a plunger, which is typical for most of precision pairs, as a function of contamination content in the working fluid. The consideration cover typical cases, including flow of contaminated fluid via an interstice (positive allowance), when the manifold plunger (spool) is in its initial position and the flow rate Qz of the working fluid at the manifold inlet is higher than the flow rate Q via the interstice, the manifold plunger (spool) is in its initial position and the flow rate Qz of the working fluid at the manifold inlet is lower than the flow rate Q via the interstice and when the manifold plunger moves against the manifold cylinder (body). Mathematical relationships, determined for all the above cases, define the following characteristics: volume of contaminants captured upstream the interstice, volume of contaminants captured in the interstice, volume of contaminants that flow out downstream the interstice, flow rate of the working flow downstream the interstice as a function of time, average velocity for the working fluid that flows out of the interstice as well as time interval that is necessary to fill in the interstice. Distribution of contaminants along the interstice length is described as well. The determined relationships served as a basis to find out interconnections between volumes of fluid that flows via an interstice and duration of the flow process.

W celu poprawy współczynnika sczerpania zawadniających się złóż gazu ziemnego od dwóch lat w oddziale w Sanoku prowadzone są próby usuwania wody z odwiertów przy pomocy gazodźwigu nurnikowego oraz żerdziowej pompy wgłębnej. W referacie przedstawiono wpływ zastosowania tych metod na przebieg wydobycia płynu z odwiertu oraz wprowadzone w trakcie przeprowadzanych testów rozwiązania dostosowujące je do standardowo (dla oddziału) uzbrojonych odwiertów gazowych. Pierwszą metodę zastosowano w niskowydajnym odwiercie, gdzie środki pianotwórcze oraz zwykłe syfonowania nie zapewniły już jego stabilnej eksploatacji. Pompowanie zastosowano w odwiercie całkowicie zawodnionym, przeznaczonym do likwidacji. Pierwsze zebrane doświadczenia potwierdzają efektywność tych sposobów usuwania wody z odwiertów gazowych.
In order to improve the ultimate recovery coefficient of water driven natural gas reservoirs, PGNiG Branch in Sanok for two years has been testing the plunger lift equipment and downhole sucker rod pump installations. This paper presents how these methods have affected the fluid production as well as solutions implemented during tests adapted to the standard gas well completion. Plunger lift method was used in a marginal well, where the foaming agents and normal blow out had no longer ensured the stable production. Pumping was utilized in completely flooded gas well, intended for the abandonment. First gained experiences confirm the effectiveness of both methods of gas well de-watering.

A mathematical method and the computer algorithm have been developed for determining the slope, straightness deviation and root-mean square roundness deviation for a line in space. The parameters describing the line location have been determined using the orthogonal regression analysis and the least squares method. The lines approximating true line location have been assumed to include the gravity center for the measured points set. satisfying the condition for the minimum value of a Lagrange function with side condition, one can derive a system of homogeneous equations with two unknowns for two unknowns for the spatial line case. By solving these equations, the eigenvalue, n , i =1, 2 and the i eigenvector l (2, 2) could have been determined; l (2, 2) being the normal vectors of the approximating lines including the gravity center. The normal vector to the line to be determined corresponds to the minimum eigenvalue l , i =1, 2.
W artykule przedstawiono podstawy matematyczne i obliczenia nachyleń prostych, o prostolinowości i odchyłek prostolinowości wzgldem prostej 2D i odchyłkę prostolinowości średnio kwadratową. Parametry prostej wyznaczono za pomocą regresji stosując metodę najmniejszych kwadratów.

The study discusses the thermo‑mechanical stress distribution in the plunger of a cold chamber casting machine with a horizontal casting chamber in the stationary aspect. The main stresses as well as the reduced stresses were determined for four different strength hypotheses, two of which took into account different acceptable maximal tensile and compressive stresses. For comparative purposes, the calculations were performed for three different construction materials used for cold chamber pressure machine plungers: grey pearlitic cast iron, high silicon bronze and beryllium bronze, as well as one more type of bronze, which has not been used for plungers so far, i.e. aluminium‑iron‑nickel bronze, constituting the initial alloy for the newly‑developed complex bronzes with high wear resistance and elevated strength.

This paper presents comparative experimental study’s results of ethanol-diesel fuel blends made effects on operational properties of a high-pressure fuel pump of a common rail injection system. The two identical fuel injection systems mounted on a test bed of the fuel injection pumps were prepared for the experimental durability tests. The lubricity properties of ethanol-diesel fuel blends E10 and E20 blends were studied using a four-ball tribometer. The test results showed that long-term (about 100 hours) using of ethanol-diesel blends produced a negative effect on the durability of the high-pressure fuel pump. Due to the wear of plunger-barrel units the decrease in the fuel delivery rate occurred of about 39% after the 100 h of continuous operation with ethanol-diesel fuel blends. The average friction coefficients of ethanol-diesel fuel blend E10 was lower than that of the normal diesel fuel. After the 100 hours of operation with ethanoldiesel fuel blend E10, the measured wear scar diameter was 10% higher than that of a fossil diesel fuel.

Distributions of mechanical and thermal stresses in a plunger of the high pressure die casting machine with a horizontal shot sleeve have been considered for a flat thermal stationary problem. An axial pressure of the plunger pressing in the technological process has been accounted for as well. Principal and equivalent stresses have been determined within two different hypotheses on the strength of materials, including one theory covering various allowable stresses in tension and compression. Four plunger material variants have been analysed.
