    Opis:
    Stosowana ilościowa ocena narażenia na hałas mieszkańców nie uwzględnia wpływu jakościowych czynników na percepcję dźwięku. Stosowane badania nad uwzględnieniem znaczenia i wpływu zróżnicowanych czynników jakościowych na percepcję dźwięku opierają się z reguły na metodach ankietowych. Nowe podejście kształtowania środowiska akustycznego zakłada uwzględnienie zobiektywizowanych cech percepcji dźwięku w połączeniu z ilościową oceną narażenia na hałas. Ważnym aspektem w nowym podejściu staje się reprezentacja subiektywnej oceny odbioru wrażeń akustycznych przez mieszkańców w sposób obiektywny. Punktem wyjścia do opracowania nowego podejścia będzie wykorzystanie idei krajobrazów dźwiękowych dla potrzeb kształtowania jakości akustycznej środowiska.
    Quantitative assessment of the exposure of the inhabitants to noise does not comprise the influence of qualitative factors of perception of sound. Basically, the research on qualitative aspects of noise is conducted with the use of questionnaires. New approach to designing acoustic environment assumes taking into account objectivised features of noise perception combined with quantitative assessment of exposure. The key aspect in the new approach is representation of subjective assessment of reception of acoustic impressions by the inhabitants in the objective way. The starting point for development of the new approach is the use of idea of sound landscapes for the needs of shaping the quality of acoustic environment.

    The situation of perception, its structure, types and their verbalization attract the attention of not only psychologists but also linguists. Hearing, like sight, is one of the main sensory channels in human life. In this study, carried out with the help of lexical-semantic analysis, semantic-stylistic analysis and contextual analysis, the role of the vocabulary describing sounds in defining the situation of a miracle is presented (“miracle-vision”, “miraclephenomenon”, “voices from heaven”, etc.) and its relation to miracle markers. Miracles were chosen from Житiя святыхъ на русском языке изложенные по руководству Четиӽ Миней святителя Димитрия Ростовского, in which miracles are manifestations of God’s omnipotence. The research focuses mainly on verbs that describe sound and verbs that describe auditory perception. The study found that in addition to verbs describing sound and verbs describing auditory perception, miracle markers are also verbs describing visual and tactile perception. The quantitative and qualitative analysis allowed us to conclude that the verb of intentional auditory perception слушать does not occur in the text as a marker of a miracle situation, which may indicate the hagiographer’s goal – to show the unpredictability of a miracle.

    W warunkach środowiska pracy sygnały akustyczne mogą być źródłem informacji wpływającej na bezpieczeństwo pracowników. Możliwości percepcji dźwięków, słyszenia kierunkowego czy też orientacji przestrzennej osób w środowisku pracy zależą od szeregu czynników, takich jak właściwości akustyczne pomieszczeń pracy, hałas i jego parametry, ubytki słuchu, stosowanie ochron słuchu czy protez słuchu. Badanie wpływu tych czynników na wymienione możliwości (percepcja, słyszenie kierunkowe, orientacja) wymaga zastosowania dźwięku przestrzennego i ma istotne znaczenie dla tworzenia bezpiecznych warunków pracy. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe informacje na temat techniki ambisonicznej jako jednej z technik przetwarzania dźwięku przestrzennego. Scharakteryzowano wykonane w Centralnym Instytucie Ochrony Pracy – Państwowym Instytucie Badawczym stanowisko laboratoryjne umożliwiające prowadzenie (z wykorzystaniem techniki ambisonicznej) badań percepcji dźwięków, słyszenia kierunkowego i orientacji przestrzennej osób.
    Acoustic signals can be a source of information affecting workers’ safety in the working environment. Sound perception, directional hearing and spatial orientation of people in the working environment depend on a number of factors, such as acoustic properties of the work room, noise and its parameters, the use of hearing protection, hearing loss or the use of hearing aids. Learning about the impact of these factors on perception, directional hearing and orientation requires using spatial sound and is essential for creating safe working conditions. This article presents basic information about ambisonics, a technique of spatial sound processing, and a test stand developed at the Central Institute for Labour Protection - National Research Institute for research on sound perception, directional hearing and spatial orientation of people using ambisonics.

    Opis:
    Spanish is well-known for its consonant reduction processes across all dialects. At the same time, its vowel inventory is not particularly rich, with five evenly distributed, stable vowel categories that tend not to change their qualities regardless of stress and rhythm. At the same time, several Spanish varieties show vowel reduction, but crucially without accompanying advancement in terms of consonantal weakening. Based on this evidence it is proposed that the two types of reduction are correlated to the extent that one excludes the other. Given the extraordinary stability of the Spanish vowels in the vast majority of the dialects, various cues to stress and reduction were investigated, followed by a series of empirical studies in the form of perception experiments. These studies are based on the assumption that changes in Spanish stress and vowel quality should inhibit comprehension of native categories (sounds, words and prosodic elements). The research conducted in order to test this hypothesis has shown that this is indeed the case. What is more, an indication of a potential boundary between native segments with important implications for speech signal perception has been discovered.

    In the process of the acquisition of the sound system of French as a foreign language, Polish students face numerous difficulties at the level of recognition, differentiation and correct production of French vowels. This is true for oral and nasal vowels. This article concentrates on nasal vowels, and its aim is to present a comparative description of nasal vowels in Polish and French, including recent changes in their production. Moreover, the paper presents the study reporting difficulty with correct perception and articulation of French nasal vowels faced by advanced Polish learners of French. While the paper does not describe corrective procedures, it indicates the necessity of undertaking further studies aiming at optimizing the process of the acquisition of the sound system in a foreign language.
