Opis:
This study aimed to develop Fe/Al multilayered metallic/intermetallic composites produced by hot pressing under an air atmosphere. Analyses were carried out on the composite plates made up of alternatively situated sheets of AA1050 aluminum alloy and DN04 low carbon steel, which were annealed at 903 K for 2, 5, and 10 h. Annealing was performed to obtain reaction layers of distinct thickness. The samples were examined using X-Ray diffraction and scanning and transmission electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive X-Ray spectrometer. To correlate the structural changes with mechanical properties, microhardness measurements in near-the-interface layers were performed. All the reaction layers grew with parabolic kinetics with η-Al5Fe2 intermetallic phase as the dominant component. After annealing for 5 and 10 hours, a thin sublayer of θ-Al13Fe4 phase was also detected.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different plasticizing aging solutions on wear resistance and hardness of selected universal resin-based dental composites. Methods: Three light cured (one nanofilled, two microhybride) and one hybride chemical cured composites were aged at 37 °C for 48 h in distillated water, ethyl alcohol solution or Listerine mouthwash. After aging the microhardness tests were carried out and then tribological tests were performed in the presence of aging solution at 37 °C. During wear testing coefficients of friction were determined. The maximal vertical loss in micrometers was determined with profilometer. Results: Aging in all liquids resulted in a significant decrease in hardness of the test materials, with the largest values obtained successively in ethanol solution, mouthwash and water. The effect of the liquid was dependent on the particular material, but not the type of material (interpreted as the size of filler used). Introduction of mouthwash instead of water or ethanol solution resulted in a significant reduction in the coefficient of friction. The lowest wear resistance was registered after aging in ethanol and for the chemical cured hybrid composite, but the vertical loss was strongly material dependent. Conclusions: The effect of different aging solution, including commercial mouthrinse, on hardness and wear was material dependent, and cannot be deduced from their category or filler loading. There is no simple correlation between hardness of resin-based dental composites and their wear resistance, but softening of particular composites materials during aging leads to the reduction of its wear resistance.

Opis:
This study aims to investigate the evolution of mechanical and microstructural characteristics of the 1050 aluminium alloy processed by Rotary Die Equal Channel Angular Pressing (RD-ECAP). The RD-ECAPed specimens were analysed after each pass using optical microscopy, quasi-static compression test and microhardness measurements. The results revealed a reduction in grain size from 29 _m before the RD-ECAP process to a minimum value of 2 _m at the second pass, corresponding to the maximum value of compressive yield strength, reaching 184MPa. Furthermore, there was an increase in hardness from 30 Hv to 63 Hv with a homogeneous distribution along the longitudinal surface, especially in the initial four RD-ECAP passes. Additionally, the appearance of a 45_ shear plane was observed at the last fifth pass, coinciding with the region of maximum microhardness.

Opis:
Various materials are used in car body production which are not always possible to join by conventional joining methods such as resistance spot welding. Therefore ClinchRivet method seem to be possible alternative. The paper deals with evaluation of properties of the joints made by mechanical joining method – ClinchRivet. The joint is made with the using of a special rivet, which is pushed into the joined materials by the flat punch. Following materials were used for joining of this method: DX51D+Z and H220PD steel sheets. The ten-sile test for observing the carrying capacities and metallographicall analysis were used for the evaluation of joint properties. Some results of the tests of ClinchRivet joints were compared to the properties of the joints made by resistance spot welding.

Opis:
The paper deals with the optimization of parameters of resistance spot welding and quality analysis of welded joints made by combination of galvanized Advanced High Strength Steel and High Strength Low Alloy steel. It is an advanced material combination uti-lized in automotive industry to reduce weight of the vehicle body and consequently lowering the fuel consumption to achieve the lowest possible fuel consumption, high active and passive safety of passengers while decreasing the amount of emission. The quality of welded joints was evaluated by destructive tests and non-destructive tests. The shear tensile test according to STN 05 1122 standard was used. Some samples were prepared for metallographic analysis, where the influence of the welding parameters on the structure of welded joint and occurrence of pores in the weld metal caused by evaporation of zinc from the coating was observed.
