The paper by Jan Wolski — a Polish theoretician and cooperative activist — constitutes the third section of the book Spółdzielczy samorząd pracy [Cooperative Labour Self-Management], which he wrote over the years of 1943-1956, but which was never published as a whole. The manuscript, from the author’s family archives, includes the information that this piece was ―written in 1943 for the Inter-union Cooperative Committee (functioning underground in Warsaw during II World War) and the Socialist Planning Commission‖. Entitled Cooperative Labour Self-Management, this section of the planned book was published in the monthly magazine Więź [Bond], issue no. 2 of 1972, and in 2011 on the website Lewicowo.pl. It contains Wolski’s deliberations regarding the functioning of cooperative labour self-management under the conditions of a social and economic transformation heading towards a classless society. Wolski believed a universal labour-based political system to be one of the essential conditions of socialism, supplanting the old organisational forms originating from the capitalist period. As such, universal labour self-management together with other forms of popular self-government, and particularly user self-government, constitutes a transmission belt between the populace’s grassroots activity and top-down political organisation. Mindful of Edward Abramowski’s teachings, Wolski considered that only having the state based on self-governing cooperative institutions consisted the true realisation of universal will, and thereby the realisation of socialist ideals.

W pracy analizie poddano zakres implementacji technik realizacji szkolenia i instrumentów oceny jego efektywności w organizacji w zależności od jej wielkości. Badania empiryczne przeprowadzono na reprezentatywnej grupie pracowników przedsiębiorstw z województwa zachodniopomorskiego. Analizy prowadzono, poza ujęciem ogólnym, także w wybranych grupach organizacji wyodrębnionych ze względu na ich wielkość. Prowadzone analizy empiryczne poprzedzono rozważaniami teoretycznymi, w których przedstawiono materiał teoretyczny z analizowanej dziedziny zawarty w literaturze przedmiotu. Praca ma zatem charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny.
Differences in range of implementation of tools of conducting training and evaluating training efficiency in dependence on organization’s size are the subject of this work. Empirical researches were conducted on the representative group of workers of enterprises from the West-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The analyses were conducted beyond general approach also in selected groups of enterprises (selected by organization’s size). Conducted empirical analyses were preceded with theoretical consideration where theoretical material considering analyzed field included in literature of subject were presented. Therefore the work is of theoretical and empirical nature.

There has been a visible trend of increasing migration from Ukraine to Poland since 2014. Immigrants are becoming a part of the Polish labour market. It is interesting to look at immigrants from the perspective of challenges faced by human resource management processes (HRM) in the enterprises employing them. Thus, the purpose of the study was to answer the questions: What are the characteristics of migration from Ukraine to Poland? Are there any studies in the area of human resource management in relation to the issue of migration of Ukrainians to Poland? What the directions of future research in the area of HRM in the context of migration of Ukrainians to Poland should be? In the pursuit after the above goals, one has used, among others, literature research, analysis of foreign research results, own pilot studies conducted with representatives of employees from Ukraine and their employers.

The report is the result of a research in the field of human resource management strategies to show the role of human resources in the workplace and to what extent diverse human resources can contribute to a company's benefits on the example of Poland and Ukraine. Purpose: The aim of the research has been to find out the similarities and differences in the labour market of Poland and Ukraine and the attitude towards the diversity management in both neighbouring countries. Methods: This research has been carried out using the survey method. The research was conducted among 100 young Ukrainian people chosen by the random sampling method and compared to the result of similar research made among 100 Polish entrepreneurs. Results: It has shown significant differences in the perception of diversity as a resource that influences the efficiency improvement in enterprises. Other needs of employees in Poland and Ukraine have been indicated. The results have been presented against the background of the specific economic situation in both countries described on the basis of statistical data.

This article presents selected results from a survey conducted in 2014 and 2015 in the Province of Opole, among 263 entrepreneurs representing companies from different sectors which varied due to the number of employees and the labour market segment. Organisations with experience in employing a foreign workforce as well as those who had not previously employed foreigners were asked about their willingness to engage a foreign workforce. The analysis was made taking into account the labour market segment. Majority of respondents claimed that the country of origin of the foreign workforce is irrelevant. Such attitude was more frequent among entrepreneurs with experience in hiring foreigners than among those who have not yet taken on foreign labour. Entrepreneurs, especially those employing foreigners during the study, tended to view foreigners as more available and more willing to work overtime, hence ‘better’ then Polish employees. Interestingly, among respondents representing the secondary labour market, the opinion that foreigners are ‘better’ employees was more common than in the group representing the primary labour market.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza funkcjonowania Podstrefy Lublin Specjalnej Strefy Ekonomicznej Euro-Park Mielec oraz jej wpływu na rozwój gospodarczy miasta. W artykule została przedstawiona historia rozwoju Podstrefy Lublin. Podsumowane zostały zarówno zmiany, jakie zachodziły w infrastrukturze, jak i proces pozyskiwania kolejnych inwestorów, od utworzenia lubelskiej Podstrefy do końca 2014 roku. Jak pokazują dane liczbowe, inwestorzy strefowi generują znaczne nakłady inwestycyjne oraz tworzą nowe miejsca pracy. Ostatnie zmiany w przepisach prawnych oraz dotychczasowe efekty inwestycji pozwalają sądzić, że planowane rozszerzenie Podstrefy o kolejne tereny jest działaniem zasadnym z punktu widzenia rozwoju gospodarczego miasta.
This article focuses on analysis of Euro-Park Mielec –Special Economic Zone–Lublin Subzone, its history, and influence on city development. Moreover, this publication discusses not only changes that have been occurring in infrastructure but also the process of attracting new investors during the period from opening the Subzone to the end of 2014. According to figures, investors operating in the SEZ provide for considerable investment expenditure and create new jobs. Taking the recent changes in legal regulations and the effects of former investment projects into consideration, it can be said that the city has good reasons for planning inclusion of new areas into the Subzone. This will exert profound influence on city development.

During the first (spring 2020) and second wave (autumn 2020) of the COVID-19 pandemic, Poland was among the countries with the strictest regulation, lockdown, and national quarantine. The pandemic has significantly influenced the situation of enterprises, especially for immigrants. The main aim and contribution of this paper is the analysis of the immigrant’s situation during the pandemic from the perspective of companies. The research goal is the identification of strategies adopted by the firms employing immigrants, so as to providing additional help to their foreign workforce during the pandemic. For the purpose of this research, a multilevel model of the triangulation design was chosen. The qualitative research included seven in-depth-interviews with purposefully selected enterprises. The quantitative study was conducted on a sample of n=894 employers. For the purpose of the second round of research, 17 interviews with companies employing immigrants were conducted. The research showed that during the first wave of the pandemic, employers most often terminated employment with immigrants, which, however, in some cases, was the initiative of the immigrant. Some firms recognizing special needs of their foreign workforce developed strategies that manifested themselves in offering additional help to their foreign workers. The paper contributes to the literature on the situation of immigrants in terms of special treatments of immigrants as vulnerable workers and the knowledge of strategies enterprises adopted in order to help their foreign workforce during the pandemic by presenting the perspective of employers.
