We give a special normal form for a non-semiquadratic hyperbolic CR-manifold M of codimension 2 in ℂ⁴, i.e., a construction of coordinates where the equation of M satisfies certain conditions. The coordinates are determined up to a linear coordinate change.

Opis:
The complexity of many biological processes, which, thanks to the development of many fields of science, becomes for us more and more obvious, makes these processes extremely interesting for further analysis. In this paper a quantitative model of the process of macrophage differentiation, which is essential for many phenomena occurring in the human body, is proposed and analyzed. The model is expressed in the language of Petri net theory on the basis of one of the three hypotheses concerning macrophage differentiation existing in the literature. The performed analysis allowed to find an importance of individual factors in the studied phenomenon.

Strong sequences were introduced by Efimov in the 60s’ of the last century as a useful method for proving well known theorems on dyadic spaces i.e. continuous images of the Cantor cube. The aim of this paper is to show relations between the cardinal invariant associated with strong sequences and well known invariants of the continuum.

Opis:
Details of the model of long water waves in the Lagrangian description are presented. The equation of motion is derived from variational formulation of the problem. Only two important cases are considered: when the water depth changes uniformly in space or the depth is constant. For quasilinear hyperbolic system obtained in this description the Riemann invariants and equation of simple waves are found. For constant depth, the Riemann invariants are exactly the same as in the Euler description, however, the velocity of wave propagation is different. In case of uniform slope the velocity, as well as the Riemann invariants are different. In the Lagrangian description the free surface is described in parametric form.

The laws of Maxwellian electrodynamics are used in an analysis of the structure of the 4-potential of radiation fields. The paper examines multi-particle and single-particle effects of a radiating source. Causality of electromagnetic processes is an important element of the analysis. Covariance properties of the relevant variables are examined and the apparent non-covariance of the radiation 4-potential where A_{0}≡0 in all frames is explained. It turns out that the origin of this feature stems from the multi-charge properties of radiation. It is also shown how in every Lorentz frame one can use covariant properties of radiation fields and reconstruct an appropriate 4-potential.

In this paper we translate Ramsey-type problems into the language of decomposable hereditary properties of graphs. We prove a distributive law for reducible and decomposable properties of graphs. Using it we establish some values of graph theoretical invariants of decomposable properties and show their correspondence to generalized Ramsey numbers.

Atherosclerosis as one of the crucial causes of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is the leading reason of death worldwide. One of the contributing factors to this phenomenon is endothelial dysfunction, which is associated with the impact of various agents and their interactions. Tobacco smoke is one of the well known factors here. For better understanding of its significance a model of its impact on atherosclerotic plaque formation has been proposed. The model contains selected aspects of the influence of tobacco smoke, dual function of nitric oxide (NO) (influence of various mechanisms on NO bioavailability), oxidative stress which promotes low density lipoproteins oxidation, macrophages significance and other mechanisms leading to an aggravation of the endothelial disturbances. The model has been built using Petri nets theory and the analysis has been based on t-invariants. This approach allowed to confirm the important role of inflammation and oxidative stress in atherosclerosis development and moreover it has shown the considerable influence of the cigarette smoke.

A two-component particle model of Boltzmann-Vlasov type kinetic equations in the form of special nonlinear integro-differential hydrodynamic systems on an infinite-dimensional functional manifold is discussed. We show that such systems are naturally connected with the nonlinear kinetic Boltzmann-Vlasov equations for some one-dimensional particle flows with pointwise interaction potential between particles. A new type of hydrodynamic two-component Benney equations is constructed and their Hamiltonian structure is analyzed.
