This paper describes how hacking can be the act of redefining what is seen and not seen in the context of online surveillance. Based on a qualitative interview study with 22 hackers, it discusses the many practices and purposes of ‘hacking online surveillance’, with a specific focus on the techniques of disappearing from view while continuing to be online. Not only do these techniques vary in style and the expertise involved, but they all fulfill multiple functions. They are more than just a coded statement against the uneven powers of surveillance, they are tactics of the everyday life, moments of analytical creativity and reflection, instances of pleasure and play, affective encounters, identity work and forms of communication. The paper dedicates space to these sometimes overlapping and sometimes differing conceptualizations of ‘hacking online surveillance’ by using methodologies that consciously seek out the nonlinear and the multiple.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki projektu badawczego, w którym zbadano wpływ czynników makrospołecznych na zainteresowanie opinii publicznej tematyką inwigilacji, ochrony danych i prywatności w Internecie w kontekście ujawnionych przez Edwarda Snowdena informacji o istnieniu globalnego programu masowej inwigilacji. Poziom zainteresowania opinii publicznej zbadano, ustalając liczbę wyszukiwań dla zapytań związanych z inwigilacją w wyszukiwarce Google w 116 krajach, w których następnie przeprowadzono analizy porównawcze. W artykule zostanie zweryfikowana hipoteza, że w krajach bardziej demokratycznych zainteresowanie opinii publicznej sprawami inwigilacji jest większe niż w pozostałych krajach. Przedstawimy także sposób, w jaki zaadaptowaliśmy dane Google na potrzeby projektu.
This paper presents the results of a research project that examined the impact of macro- -determinants on public interest in the topics of surveillance, data protection and online privacy in the context of Edward Snowden’s revelations about the existence of a global mass surveillance program. The level of public interest was estimated based on the number of Google searches related to surveillance in 116 countries, in which comparative analyses were then conducted. We are going to verify the hypothesis that in countries with a higher level of democracy there is greater public interest in surveillance than in other countries. The paper will also present ways of adapting Google data to the needs of the social sciences

Opis:
The goal of this exploratory case study is to identify different facets of news reporting on surveillance, privacy and data security, and more specifically, how risks in this context are portrayed. The theoretical foundation consists of two elements: 1) the concept of mediatized risk culture, and 2) the discursive arena model of risk communication, which provides the normative background for assessing news reporting. A text-mining approach (topic modeling) is applied to analyze relevant coverage of the German quality newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. The study yields a total of seven topics which belong to three categories: violation of privacy norms, power and law enforcement, and datafication. The results show that despite the de-mystification of digital technology after the Snowden leaks, coverage has recently become more affirmative and less focused on risk. We conclude that this may indicate a normalization of mass surveillance and data harvesting even in Germany, a society which traditionally values privacy. In order to add more context to our findings, however, further qualitative analyses were needed. The paper serves as a starting point for further research on media reporting of surveillance, privacy and data security.

Obecnie dokonuje się szybki postęp w zakresie zastosowań informatyki w analizach sytuacji ekonomiczno-finansowej przedsiębiorstw oraz w procesach wspomagania zarządzania organizacjami. W zakresie najszybciej rozwijających się dziedzin technologii teleinformatycznej, które warunkują kolejne etapy postępu w zakresie internetowej bankowości elektronicznej, należy upowszechnianie standardów przeprowadzania operacji finansowych realizowanych w tzw. chmurze jak również z zastosowaniem korzystania z dużych zbiorów danych ulokowanych w tzw. platformach Big Data. Obecne rozwiązania technologiczne Big Data to już nie tylko duże bazy danych, hurtownie danych pozwalające na wieloaspektowe analizy ogromnych zbiorów danych ilościowych dokonywanych na potrzeby raportów składanych okresowo kadrze menedżerskiej. Prowadzone w podmiotach gospodarczych procesy decyzyjne powinny być oparte na analizie wiarygodnych i aktualnych danych rynkowych i dotyczących prowadzonej działalności. Informacje niezbędne dla procesów podejmowania decyzji menedżerskich są w korporacjach na bieżąco pozyskiwane, gromadzone, porządkowane i przedstawiane w formie raportów analitycznych Business Intelligence. Analizy przeprowadzane w formule Business Intelligence dają kadrze zarządzającej nowe możliwości analizy dużych zbiorów danych w czasie rzeczywistym, co znacząco przyczynia się do podnoszenia efektywności zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem. Obecnie w analityce biznesowej wykorzystywane są zaawansowane formuły analityczne programu Ms Excel lub zinformatyzowane platformy zawierające gotowe formuły raportowania w zakresie Business Intelligence.
Rapid progress is being made in the field of IT applications in the analysis of the economic and financial situation of enterprises and in the processes supporting management of organizations. In terms of the fastest growing areas of information and communication technology, which are the prerequisites for the progress of online electronic banking, it is necessary to disseminate the standards of financial operations have been carried out. The cloud as well as the use of large data sets in the so-called. Big Data platforms. The current Big Data technology solutions are not just large databases, data warehouses allow for multifaceted analysis of huge volumes of quantitative data for periodic managerial reporting. Business decision-making processes should be based on the analysis of reliable and up-to-date market and business data. The information necessary for the decision-making processes has been collected, stored, ordered and pre-summed up in the form of Business Intelligence analytics reports in corporations. Business Intelligence analyzes give managers the ability to analyze the large data sets in real time, which significantly contributes to improving business management efficiency. At present, business analytics use either the advanced analytical formulas of Ms Excel or computerized platforms that include ready-made Business Intelligence reporting formulas.
В настоящее время он добился значительного прогресса в области применения информационных технологий в анализе экономических и финансовых процессов компаний и поддержки управления организациями. С точки зрения наиболее быстро растущих областей ИТ-технологии, которые определяют этапы прогресса в области электронного банковского сайта, является распространение стандартов для финансирования операций в так называемых. облако, а также с использованием больших массивов данных, расположенных в так называемом. Большие платформы данных. Современные технологические решения больших данных не только большие базы данных, хранилища данных, что позволяет для многогранного анализа массивных наборов данных, выполненных с целью количественных докладов, представленных периодически управленческих кадров. Проводимые в хозяйствующих субъектов процессов принятия решений должны основываться на достоверной и своевременной анализа рыночных данных, касающихся их деятельности. Информация, необходимая для управленческих процессов принятия решений в корпорации получает на сегодняшний день собрана, организована и представлена в виде аналитических отчетов Business Intelligence. Анализ, выполненный в формуле Business Intelligence дает руководителям возможность нового анализа больших массивов данных в реальном масштабе времени, что в значительной мере способствует повышению эффективности управления бизнесом. В настоящее время бизнес-аналитика использует передовые аналитические формулы MS Excel или компьютеризированную платформу, содержащие готовую формулу для отчетности в области Business Intelligence.

Digital surrounding.
Opis:
Growing up in digital surroundings and using the Internet on a daily basis have been some of the most prominent features of the young population today. In fact, where Generation Z is concerned, this has virtually been the only modus vivendi they know. They find online communication natural, feeling comfortable in the digital world, spending most of their time on the Internet sharing photographs and video footage, having fun, and communicating by means of social media and various software applications. In doing so, they prove very skillful and they have no difficulty mastering new digital trends, but they are often unaware of how vulnerable they are in terms of protection of their privacy and personal data. For that reason, the paper aims at determining to what extent the members of Generation Z expose their private lives on the Internet, whether they are concerned about possible the consequences of these actions, and what steps they should take to protect their personal data. The results of the survey, conducted online, reveal that most examinees are unaware of the possible risks of providing their personal data to unknown entities on the Internet, as well as that the similar percentage of them do not take any steps towards protecting their privacy.

We focus on the art of observing the world by electronic devices such as sensors and meters that, in general, we call monitors. We also define main monitoring objectives and pose five challenges for effective and efficient monitoring that still need a lot of research. In the era where compute power like electricity is easily available and easy to use across the globe, and big data is generated in enormous amounts at ever-increasing rates, the question, what to monitor and how, will become ever more relevant to save the world from flood of meaningless, dumb data, leading frequently to false conclusions and wrong decisions whose impact may range from a minor inconvenience to loss of lives and major disasters.

Celem niniejszego artykułu będzie zaprezentowanie ścieżki rozwoju społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu (CSR) pod wpływem Internetu, a także analiza możliwości, które on kreuje dla dobra społeczeństwa. Przytoczona zostanie definicja CSR, a następnie zostanie poddana dyskusji kwestia parametryzacji CSR, co będzie miało bezpośrednie przełożenie na Internet i jego wkład w CSR. Opracowanie podejmie przede wszystkim problematykę proponowanych rozwiązań technologicznych, które zwiększą poziom wiedzy, umiejętności, a także w praktyce rozwiążą wiele istotnych problemów społecznych. Zaprezentowane zostaną również wartości dla CSR i biznesu, które dzięki Internetowi powinny znaleźć wspólny mianownik.
The aim of this article is to present the development path of corporate social responsibility (CSR), under the influence of the Internet, as well as the analysis of opportunities that it creates for the good of society. There will be quoted definition of CSR, and it will be discussed the issue of CSR parametrization, which will have a direct impact on the Internet and its contribution to CSR. The study will pay attention especially to suggested technological solutions, which will enhance the level of knowledge, skills, solve many important social problems in practice. There will be also presented the values for CSR and business, which thanks to the Internet, should find a common denominator.

The article aims to indicate the most important issues facing an individual wishing to protect his or her privacy on the Internet. It also describes the evolution of the concept of the right to privacy, which over the years has become one of the most important subjective rights reflected both in the Polish Constitution and in the legal acts of the Council of Europe and the European Union. The text also demonstrates the approach to the issue of the right to privacy taken by both the Polish constitutional and international judiciary. The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in the cases of Dupate v. Latvia and Brother Watch and others v. United Kingdom, dealt with both the publication of photographs of a public figure taken surreptitiously in a private situation and mass surveillance. The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, in its judgments, has often referred to the issue of the protection of telecommunications data, including the question of access by state services to such data (H.K case) and the rights and obligations created by Articles 7 and 8 of the Charter (Kärntner Landesregierung and Digital Rights Ireland Ltd case). The European Union authorities, reacting to the increasingly widespread problem of data flows on the Internet, decided to enact the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The article describes the most important objectives and tasks to be fulfilled by this legal act. In addition, the main problems associated with the use of new technologies such as cybercrimes, cyber surveillance, data theft, as well as cryptojacking and the functioning of APTs (Advanced Persistent Threat), i.e. skilled hacking groups, are also indicated.

The Internet of Things is a modern technology that affects every area of human life, includ- ing employment relationships. IoT enables the processing of specific personal data categories, including biometric data, and entails the risk of employers interfering with employee privacy. Due to the use of intelligent solutions, the issue of employee privacy, which is, in princi- ple, a personal right subject to protection, becomes significant. The relationship between an employee and an employer includes two subjects of legal protection, the meeting of which may lead to internal contradiction. There is the employee’s dignity and privacy, on the one hand, and protection of reasonable interests of an employer, on the other. A definition of the concept of the Internet of Things and its applications was introduced. Moreover, the author proposed setting a specific legal framework for this and discussed the issue of biometric data. It was also shown how far IoT solutions, which make it possible to analyse and describe the personality of an individual, may interfere with the information autonomy of a person. As a consequence, the employer’s interference with employee privacy cannot be unrestricted, because it should be limited by purpose and lawfulness. This is the purpose of the current legislation.

Dostępne są aplikacje umożliwiające np. dokonywanie płatności zbliżeniowych, autoryzację transakcji za pomocą biometrii, dokonywanie zdarzeń gospodarczych automatycznie, bez udziału człowieka – Internet Rzeczy, czy też gromadzenie i przetwarzanie informacji o klientach, co umożliwia personalizację oferty – Big Data. Wdrożenie tego typu narzędzi zyskuje coraz większe zainteresowanie w branży bankowej, ponieważ pozwalają one osiągnąć lepsze relacje z klientami, dają możliwość personalizowania ofert, jak i wpływają na poprawę rentowności prowadzonego biznesu. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie wpływu nowoczesnych technologii informatycznych na rozwój nowych usług oferowanych przez banki przy zastosowaniu metody badawczej polegającej na analizie dostępnych danych.

Opis:
Opracowano oraz zaimplementowano rozbudowaną aplikacje internetową posiadającą własny interfejs programistyczny API (ang. application programming interface). Jej zadaniem jest magazynowanie oraz prezentacja danych zapisanych w postaci spersonalizowanych grup zwanych „listami”. Listy będzie można współdzielić pomiędzy użytkownikami aplikacji bądź też samo organizującymi się grupami użytkowników.
