Opis:
The paper focuses on theoretical concepts proposed by Professor Jerzy Cieślikowski (1916–1977), one of the most renowned Polish figures in the field of children’s literature studies. After providing a short outline of the theories of children’s literature in Poland (with the focus on two scholarly orientations towards the subject of research: ‘universalism’ and ‘autonomism’), the author of the article presents Cieślikowski’s main ideas. The first one, introduced in a monograph on children’s folklore and literature, Wielka zabawa (The Great Play, 1967), claims that such writing is inextricably associated with play, while the second one, which can be derived from essays included in the collection Literatura osobna (Separate literature, 1985), indicates that children’s texts constitute a separate literary system (the ‘fourth’ one, alongside ‘highbrow’ literature, folk literature, and ‘pulp’ literature). As both theories were met with polemics, Polish scholarly debate about Cieślikowski’s concepts is discussed in the paper as well. Finally, the author of the article presents several examples of using or referring to Cieślikowski’s ideas by contemporary Polish scholars, which, in a way, show his continuous impact on children’s literature studies in Poland. Therefore, Cieślikowski’s prominence in the country’s academic discourse about children’s texts, although his theories remain controversial, is indisputable.

Opis:
This article is composed of three main parts: the first part briefly presents Prof. Jaworski’s professional and creative accomplishments, the second part provides a description of the most important research questions addressed by Prof. Jaworski in his scholarly work, while the last section of the article is devoted to personal recollections by the present writer, highlighting the profiles and roles of Professor Jaworski as a lecturer, scholar, intellectual, editor, science organiser and discourse partner. Stanisław Jaworski was a prominent expert in the Kraków Avantgarde group and the subsequent history of this avant-garde movement in Polish poetry in Poland as well as on changes and literary recurrences in modern Polish and European literature. His literary research techniques include a comparative perspective as an important element, whereas interpretations of poems still play a substantial part. Prof. Jaworski has written a groundbreaking work Piszę, więc jestem? [I write therefore I am?] introducing new ideas and methods in genetic criticism, the approach to the study of literature Prof.Jaworski adopted and developed. The present article identifies common ideas and ways of thinking in research and poetical creative work.

Opis:
The essay provides all available data useful for the discovering of an up-to-now lost text by Paolo Paruta (Venice, 1540-1598), the Risposta [Reply] to Lettera XXX by Pseudo-Dante, a fake letter published in 1547 by Florentine Anton Francesco Doni, in order to arouse a bitter anti-Venetian controversy. New evidence shows that one copy of Paruta's Risposta lay in Gian Vincenzo Pinelli library (located in Padua). In fact, Paruta and Pinelli shared a lot of interests and friends in the middle and late 16th century Padua and Venice.
