Opis:
The studies of the ultimate thermal flows have been carried out in metallic and poorly heat-conducting porous structures, which operate when gravitational and capillary forces act jointly and cool various devices of thermal power plants in order to create a scientific methodology. The mechanism of destruction of metal vaporizing surfaces and poorly heat-conducting coatings of low porosity made of natural mineral media (granite) has been described on the basis of the problem of thermoelasticity and experimental data. Thermal flow dependences on time of their action and depth of penetration of temperature perturbations were identified based on analogy. Capillary-porous systems have high intensity, heat transport ability, reliability, compactness. The results of calculations and experiment showed that the maximum thickness of the particles that detach under the influence of compression forces for granite coatings is (0.25÷0.3).10-2 m. Sections of compression curves that determine the detachment of particles with dimensions of more than 0.3×10-2 m for large thermal flows and short feed times, are screened by the melting curve, and in the case of small thermal flows and time intervals – the expansion curve.

The paper describes research work on methods concerning heat transfers through walls of thermal technical chambers. This paper is focused on the new concept of thermal analysis derived from harmonic character of temperature changes in building environment with aspect on conductive heat transfers through walls.. The paper presents exemplary measurement results taken in Lublin region during various periods throughout a year. The purpose for the research is to point out areas subjected to the highest energy losses caused by building’s construction and geographical orientation of walls in the aspect of daily atmospheric temperature changes emerging on chamber exterior.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is a steady-state inverse heat transfer problem for plate-fin and tube heat exchangers. The objective of the process control is to adjust the number of fan revolutions per minute so that the water temperature at the heat exchanger outlet is equal to a preset value. Two control techniques were developed. The first is based on the presented mathematical model of the heat exchanger while the second is a digital proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. The first procedure is very stable. The digital PID controller becomes unstable if the water volumetric flow rate changes significantly. The developed techniques were implemented in digital control system of the water exit temperature in a plate fin and tube heat exchanger. The measured exit temperature of the water was very close to the set value of the temperature if the first method was used. The experiments showed that the PID controller works also well but becomes frequently unstable.

Opis:
The analysis of effectiveness of the gradient algorithm for the two-dimension steady state heat transfer problems is being performed. The three gradient algorithms - the BCG (biconjugate gradient algorithm), the BICGSTAB (biconjugate gradient stabilized algorithm), and the CGS (conjugate gradient squared algorithm) are implemented in a computer code. Because the first type boundary conditions are imposed, it is possible to compare the results with the analytical solution. Computations are carried out for different numerical grid densities. Therefore it is possible to investigate how the grid density influences the efficiency of the gradient algorithms. The total computational time, residual drop and the iteration time for the gradient algorithms are additionally compared with the performance of the SOR (successive over-relaxation) method.

The start point of the dual phase lag equation (DPLE) formulation is the generalized Fourier law in which two positive constants (the relaxation and thermalization times) appear. This type of equation can be used (among others) to describe the heat conduction processes proceeding in micro-scale. Depending on the number of components in the development of the generalized Fourier law into a power series, one can obtain both the first-order DPLE and the second-order one. In this paper the first-order dual phase lag equation is considered. The primary objective of this research is the transformation of DPLE differential form to the integro-differential one supplemented by the appropriate boundary-initial conditions. The obtained form of the differential equation is much simpler and more convenient at the stage of numerical computations – the numerical algorithm based on the three-time-level scheme reduces to the two-time-level one. To find the numerical solution, the Control Volume Method is used (the heating of thin metal film subjected to a laser beam is considered). The choice of the numerical method was not accidental. The method has a simple physical interpretation ensuring the preservation of the local and global energy balances. To our knowledge, it has not been used so far in this type of tasks. In the final part of the paper the examples of numerical simulations are presented and the conclusions are formulated.

The problem discussed in the paper concerns the numerical modeling of thermal processes proceeding in micro-scale described using the Dual Phase Lag Model (DPLM) in which the relaxation and thermalization time appear. The cylindrical domain of a thin metal film subjected to a strong laser pulse beam is considered. The laser action is taken into account by the introduction of an internal heat source in the energy equation. At the stage of numerical modeling, the Control Volume Method is used and adapted to resolve the hyperbolic partial differential equation. In particular, the Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method for DPLM is presented and discussed. The examples of computations are also presented.

In this paper, control-oriented modeling approaches are presented for distributed parameter systems. These systems, which are in the focus of this contribution, are assumed to be described by suitable partial differential equations. They arise naturally during the modeling of dynamic heat transfer processes. The presented approaches aim at developing finite-dimensional system descriptions for the design of various open-loop, closed-loop, and optimal control strategies as well as state, disturbance, and parameter estimation techniques. Here, the modeling is based on the method of integrodifferential relations, which can be employed to determine accurate, finite-dimensional sets of state equations by using projection techniques. These lead to a finite element representation of the distributed parameter system. Where applicable, these finite element models are combined with finite volume representations to describe storage variables that are—with good accuracy—homogeneous over sufficiently large space domains. The advantage of this combination is keeping the computational complexity as low as possible. Under these prerequisites, real-time applicable control algorithms are derived and validated via simulation and experiment for a laboratory-scale heat transfer system at the Chair of Mechatronics at the University of Rostock. This benchmark system consists of a metallic rod that is equipped with a finite number of Peltier elements which are used either as distributed control inputs, allowing active cooling and heating, or as spatially distributed disturbance inputs.

Opis:
Heating process in the domain of thin metal film subjected to a strong laser pulse are discussed. The mathematical model of the process considered is based on the dual-phase-lag equation (DPLE) which results from the generalized form of the Fourier law. This approach is, first of all, used in the case of micro-scale heat transfer problems (the extremely short duration, extreme temperature gradients and very small geometrical dimensions of the domain considered). The external heating (a laser action) is substituted by the introduction of internal heat source to the DPLE. To model the melting process in domain of pure metal (chromium) the approach basing on the artificial mushy zone introduction is used and the main goal of investigation is the verification of influence of the artificial mushy zone ‘width’ on the results of melting modeling. At the stage of numerical modeling the author’s version of the Control Volume Method is used. In the final part of the paper the examples of computations and conclusions are presented.
