Subject and purpose of work: Using renewable organic material for energy generation is exhibiting an increasing trend globally, also in Hungary. The aim of the Renewable Energy Action Plan of the European Union is to increase the share of energy production from renewable resources to 32% by 2030. At present, renewable energy sources represent 10.2% of Hungary’s primary energy consumption. Materials and methods: This study has examined the financial feasibility of two companies in Kunság region in Hungary that participate in the renewable energy production market with different types of technologies; that of a biogas facility and a short rotation energy forest plantation. Financial incentives are offered both in the EU and Hungary for the establishment and propagation of bioenergy producing enterprises, hence calculations are presented both with and without subsidies. Results: The results show that regardless of the production method, without subsidies, none of the businesses could make a profit in the period under review. Conclusions: The main reasons behind unprofitable operations are the initial high capital outlay, high logistics costs, not mature technological solutions and suppressed purchasing prices.

Budget needed for operation and maintenance of centralized domestic wastewater management in Indonesia is often overlooked. This results in fail systems, high idle capacity, and abandoned assets. While the economic feasibility often used as the basis for centralized domestic wastewater infrastructure construction, the financial feasibility often shown a different result. The construction phase will be feasible according the analysis, while the operation and maintenance phase will have a different result. As unsolicited projects, the operation and maintenance of sewerage in Indonesia always have budget difficulties, thus needed scenario to resolve the matter. In this study, cost and revenue variable will be analyzed to determine the feasibility value based on NPV, BCR, and IRR calculations. The revenue comes from user charge tariffs on household and commercials connections, and cost variable consists of: chemical usage cost; sludge disposal cost; personnel wage cost; fuel and electricity cost; spare-part replacement cost. The analysis will determine whether both household connection and commercials connection in the sewerage system have positive results. Should negative results emerged, follow up analysis added to elevate the results consists of following scenarios: sensitivity analysis for tariffs adjustment; sensitivity analysis adding grant as option; sensitivity analysis adding loan as option. While analysis of base tariffs shown negative results on NPV, BCR, and IRR calculation, the follow up analysis shown significant changes thus the results is desirable.

Biomass is a readily available, renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy. Exploiting renewable organic matter for energy production is showing a growing tendency worldwide including in Hungary. Forest plantations with large numbers of plants (short rotation coppices) that provide a homogeneous, locally available raw material of various fast growing deciduous wood species are broadly supported. In our research we have investigated the financial viability of a short rotation energy forest plantation in the Kunság region of Hungary. Both the EU and Hungary provide economic incentives for the creation and propagation of bio-energy producing facilities. Our results show that the enterprise could not generate profit for the period examined without the help of such subsidies. There are several obstacles that farmers are facing such as the initial high capital outlay, technological shortcomings of the harvesting methods, high logistics costs and suppressed purchasing prices.

Goal – identification of conditions for the economic feasibility of repairing units with the restoration of parts in comparison with the repair based on the use of new parts. Research – techno‑economic methods were used, taking into account the changing cost items for technological operations of repairing automobile units in various versions. The limitation was the provision of after‑repair running hours of repaired units, not inferior to the standard operating time of new units. Score/results – the review shows the conditions under which the main quality indicators in the form of wear resistance and fatigue strength of the restored parts, which determine their durability, are not inferior to the development to the limit state of new parts. Originality/value – the cost of restoring individual parts during the repair of units is 8–60% of the price of new products. The conditions of concentration of production with an increase in its volumes are given, which reduces the complexity of the restoration of parts up to two times.

Objectives A Workers’ Health Surveillance (WHS) program is an occupational health strategy used to detect and address the health of individual workers to improve their ability to work. This study aims to investigate the feasibility and acceptability of a new job-specific WHS for hospital physicians. Material and Methods All hospital physicians of the general surgery, radiotherapy and obstetrics and gynecology departments from 1 academic hospital were invited to participate in the WHS by the in-company occupational health service. An occupational physician and a medical assistant were trained to use the protocol. Feasibility was operationalized as the received and delivered dose, observed success factors and potential obstacles. Acceptability was assessed by asking whether the WHS was desirable and feasible for future use and by estimating the effects on health and work ability. Written questions and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participating physicians, 5 department managers and the 2 occupational health professionals involved in the study. Results One-third of the hospital physicians (34%) participated in every part of the WHS. The delivered dose was 77/84 (92%). Almost all hospital physicians who received recommendations expected to adhere to this advice. The study participants appreciated the organization of the WHS. This WHS was positively graded (8 out of 10 max) in terms of acceptability. Positive effects of the WHS on health, work functioning and long-term work ability were perceived by 2/3 of the physicians. Conclusions The new job-specific WHS for hospital physicians showed good feasibility and acceptability among participating hospital physicians, occupational health professionals and medical managers.

Prevention of global warming is becoming urgent issue and "biofuel" gathering worldwide attention has been put into practical use not only in US, EU, Brazil or other countries but in Japan. As for its impact on environment, however, evaluation still varies including aninfluence on global economy, for example food price crisis that might have been caused by competition with food. In the previous study [1], one of the authors pointed out that "bio-ethanol" from crops is never "carbon neutra", that means the production and use of the fuel does not lead to a net increase in atmospheric CO concentration, nor useful as a countermeasure against global warming. The "second-generatio" of bio-fuel made from nonfood biomass has attracted much attention especially after the Hokkaido Toyako G8 summit held in November 2008. Among various plants or biomass materials, "Jatropha" has come to the front as one of the most promising candidates for future bio-diesel production. In fact, there are many plans or projects aiming at large scale cultivating Jatropha for bio-diesel oil production in several African or Southeast-Asian countries. However, it should be pointed out that there are too many unknown factors still remaining that are important in practical use of Jatropha oil, for example, productivity as well as sustainability, long-term impact of its large-scale use on soil quality, practical costs of the oil and so on. In this study, an assessment on the validity of Jatropha production was tried as quantitatively as possible using the data obtained from a field survey in Indonesia conducted by the authors in January and March of 2009. Although LCI data for LCA calculations obtained was very limited, the true reality of the situation about Jatropha could substantially be demonstrated to some extent. The main point was that the oil cost was dominated mainly by labor costs, because many work operations could not be mechanized and inevitably be manual handling tasks. In many cases, the labor costs could not be covered by the income from the Jatropha oil (or seed) due to the low productivity of the biomass, whereas the prime cost of the biodiesel oil was rather high expensive compared with fossil fuel.

Opis:
The primary objective of this paper is the custom design of an effective, yet relatively easy-to-implement, predictive control algorithm to maintain normoglycemia in patients with type 1 diabetes. The proposed patient-tailorable empirical model featuring the separated feedback dynamics to model the effect of insulin administration and carbohydrate intake was proven to be suitable for the synthesis of a high-performance predictive control algorithm for artificial pancreas. Within the introduced linear model predictive control law, the constraints were applied to the manipulated variable in order to reflect the technical limitations of insulin pumps and the typical nonnegative nature of the insulin administration. Similarly, inequalities constraints for the controlled variable were also assumed while anticipating suppression of hypoglycemia states during the automated insulin treatment. However, the problem of control infeasibility has emerged, especially if one uses too tight constraints of the manipulated and the controlled variable concurrently. To this end, exploiting the Farkas lemma, it was possible to formulate the helper linear programming problem based on the solution of which this infeasibility could be identified and the optimality of the control could be restored by adapting the constraints. This adaptation of constraints is asymmetrical, thus one can force to fully avoid hypoglycemia at the expense of mild hyperglycemia. Finally, a series of comprehensive in-silico experiments were carried out to validate the presented control algorithm and the proposed improvements. These simulations also addressed the control robustness in terms of the intersubject variability and the meal announcements uncertainty.
