    The main goal of the presented article is to form basic aims of research on the problems of family violence in the local community. In order to do so, an analysis of various international and national documents has been made as they are sources of standards applicable to local research on family violence. Adopting the perspective of the social sector as an essential one to counteract the phenomenon, and at the same time, to carry out research on the problem, four basic aims of research were suggested by the author: establishing the picture of the problem of family violence, working out the context of its incidence, recognizing and monitoring the possibility to reduce it in a local environment and the assessment of the effectiveness of applied solutions, programmes and means.

    The paper presents research findings concerning desired parental activities for peer violence prevention. An instrument was created for the purpose of this research, and study sample comprised 480 participants, including 170 parents, 94 teachers and 206 students. Activities perceived as more important were open communication and greater control of children’s behavior, while parents’ participation in school was assessed as less important. The “School without violence” program was recognized as a significant resource for empowering family activities in peer violence prevention. This implies that it is important to implement family support programs and to develop parents’ skills.

    Children’s individual experience gained within families may lead to the development of both prosocial and aggressive behaviours. The aim of the paper is to analyse the phenomenon of aggression in the family environment. Extensive specialist literature indicates that there are often many co-occurring factors that determine child aggression. Children live in a dysfunctional family, in conditions of poverty and parental pathology, experience parental hostility and violence, are neglected, their vital biological and psychological needs are not met, they undergo inadequate upbringing training. They also experience aggression in sibling relations. Thus, the family provides them with comprehensive aggressive education for years. An important issue is to prevent and control aggression in the family. It is not easy and requires actions at three levels: social, individual and family. The article also presents an interesting intervention model in a sibling aggression situation.

    Celem pracy jest analiza i ocena systemu służącego ochronie praw ofiar przemocy w rodzinie oraz przeciwdziałaniu przemocy a także skonfrontowanie założeń prawnych z praktyką ich stosowania. Wskazane zostały różne możliwości jakie wykorzystywane w celu przeciwdziałania przemocy, zarówno bezpośrednie jak i pośrednie, oraz trudności jakie widoczne są w podjętych działaniach, które źródło swe mają złożoności zjawiska jakim jest przemoc w rodzinie. Przegląd statystyk policyjnych ukazuje jak zmienia się skala tego zjawiska na tle zmieniającego się systemu.
    The aim of this paper is to analyse and evaluate the system of protection and prevention of family violence, as well as to compare the legal assumptions with the practice of their application. The paper points out various possibilities of preventing violence, both direct and indirect, as well as the difficulties of taking actions, which are caused by the complexity of the phenomenon of family violence. The review of police statistics shows how the scale of this phenomenon is changing against the background of the changing system.

    Opis:
    Work of the guidance counsellor focuses on care, education and preven-tion. The guidance counsellor supports students in the integral development. It helps them to overcome educational problems and co-works with parents. Usu-ally the activity is accompanied by his/her involvement in combating violence not only in school but also in the family. This article focuses on the basic operation of the guidance counsellor in executing “the Blue Card” procedure. The guidance counsellor’s participation in the work of interdisciplinary teams that have been appointed by the mayor or president of the city to take action to prevent domestic violence is described. Attention is drawn to possibilities governed by law to support a child from a family affected by the violence as well as to the need for professional devel-opment of teachers in the field of “the Blue Card” procedure. Only a qualified guidance counsellor, able to work in an interdisciplinary team or a workgroup can give appropriate assistance to child victims.

    This article considers diagnosing a local system for combating domestic violence as exemplified by Gmina Skawina, Poland. In the theoretical part, the article discusses definitional issues related to domestic violence and presents the characteristics of the Polish system for combating domestic violence. The second part presents the methodological assumptions of the process of diagnosing domestic violence in Gmina Skawina, and discusses selected research results and conclusions from empirical analyses.
    Prezentowany artykuł zawiera rozważania dotyczące diagnozowania lokalnego systemu przeciwdziałania przemocy w rodzinie na przykładzie gminy Skawina. W części teoretycznej omówiono kwestie definicyjne związane ze zjawiskiem przemocy oraz przedstawiono charakterystykę systemu przeciwdziałania przemocy w rodzinie w Polsce. W drugiej części zaprezentowano założenia metodologiczne procesu diagnozowania problemu przemocy w gminie Skawina, omówiono wybrane wyniki badań oraz wnioski z analiz empirycznych.

    Temat agresji i przemocy wśród dzieci i młodzieży jest przedmiotem wielu badań naukowych. Szybki rozwój cywilizacyjny, coraz wcześniejsza inicjacja przestępcza dzieci i młodzieży zmusza do podejmowania wzmożonych działań zapobiegających eskalacji agresji i przemocy. Ukazanie istoty, przyczyn, a także sposobów zapobiegania agresji i przemocy występującej wśród dzieci i młodzieży, uświadomienie społeczeństwu zasięgu owego zjawiska oraz konsekwencji podejmowania działań agresywnych i przemocowych przez młodych ludzi sprzyja zrozumieniu istoty problemu. Zjawiska agresji i przemocy dotyczą wszystkich grup wiekowych, jednak uzasadniony niepokój budzi fakt, że coraz częściej dotykają one dzieci i młodzież, mając miejsce zarówno w środowisku szkolnym, jak i rodzinnym. Toteż działania profilaktyczne muszą być podejmowane właśnie przez rodziny i placówki oświatowe. Czytelna postawa rodziców i wychowawców, realizowanie założeń programów wychowawczych i profilaktyki w szkołach odgrywają ważną rolę w zapobieganiu agresji i przemocy. Wspomaganie ucznia w pokonywaniu trudności, ograniczanie i eliminowanie czynników ryzyka zaburzających prawidłowy rozwój psychiczny i fizyczny dzieci i młodzieży oraz inicjowanie i wzmacnianie elementów chroniących to ważne sposoby przeciwdziałania opisywanemu zjawisku.
    The topic of aggression among children and adolescence has become a subject of many scientific studies. Fast civilisation development as well as earlier criminal initiation amongst children and the youth forces to undertake intensified observations and prepare written applications, which are available for the society in general. The aim of the thesis is to show the essense, causes and possible ways of preventing aggression as well as violence which occur among children and the youth but also to make the society aware of range of the phenomenon and consequences of aggressive and violent activities undertaken by young people. The statistical data and legal regulations with regard to antisocial behavior, which appear among children and teenagers, have been approached. Sources of disfunction, which have been introduced in the present thesis, are personal and individual features who reveal disturbing symptoms and also family and school surroundings. The last point has been dedicated to the aspect of showing an important role of the parents and the teachers in preventing antisocial behaviour, preparing school program of prevention but also traditional and new classification of prevention activities.
