    The Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica (two of the four branches: the Early Piast Residence Ostrów Lednicki and the Wielkopolska Ethnographic Park in Dziekanowice) are located in central Wielkopolska [Greater Poland] on the eastern shore of Lake Lednica. It is an open-air museum that encompasses archaeological and ethnographic exhibitions. This paper presents the results of several years of research, which included the analyses of the functional and spatial structure of the museum, its composition and landscape relations. The conclusions from the research allowed for the formulation of guidelines and, consequently, the development of the concept of visiting a museum facility and shaping its space to meet the diverse needs of tourists and making the most of the potential of this space. The research demonstrated that spatial disintegration is one of the most significant problems of the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica. The paper suggests therefore that functional and compositional relations should be created between individual areas, currently separated from each other. The presented concept is based on a zonal-nodal-linear system, constructed by distinctly organised and composed zones of varying purposes, four nodal points and four sightseeing routes. The proposed composition arrangement is supposed to bind the entire currently inhomogeneous museum space. The concept takes into account the diversity of tastes and needs of different groups of users, and at the same time indicates the use of the potential of the landscape. Individual means of expression used (elements of equipment, surfaces, greenery) are to inform and guide guests, encourage them to explore the museum space and read the content recorded in the landscape. The museum narration is carried out as part of a series of consecutive interiors of varied scale and composition, equipped with various architectural and plant elements. The concept also includes proposals for other activities in the field of landscape design, which plays the role of the content of the exhibition and its background in the case of openair museums. The article points out that the landscape background area should be protected in the spatial planning process and properly shaped using various methods and means of spatial planning and landscape architecture. The protection should cover all areas within the landscape background, in accordance with the designated visibility range. Ad-hoc actions aimed at the proper development of areas in the landscape background zone, without the need to introduce new legal regulations, are also possible. It was proposed that a curtain layout of greenery should be planted perpendicular to the axis of the view in order to obscure negative spatial accents in the areas adjacent to the Wielkopolska Ethnographic Park. Not only disharmonious structures should be covered, but also new view relations should be shaped and openings exposing the most attractive fragments of space, currently invisible, should be framed. For this purpose, it was proposed that part of the vegetation growing on the shore of Lake Lednica should be removed in order to create extensive views of the reservoir. It would also be beneficial to shape view openings to the surrounding farmlands, a characteristic spatial feature of the villages of Wielkopolska. The problem of shaping the space of the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica discussed in this paper is in line with the current search for new solutions, increasing the readability and attractiveness of museums’ exhibitions. The currently observed globalisation processes, communication revolution and unlimited access to information create a new type of recipients. The recognition of their needs and expectations as well as the motives of their decisions and choices is necessary for the proper shaping of the museum space.

    Opis:
    The article discusses the subject of using sunlight in art exhibition interiors. The properties of sunlight that affect its role in highlighting the surroundings as well as art exhibitions spaces were discussed. A detailed analysis of the subject was presented on the subject of Venice Biennale pavilions: the pavilions of the Netherlands, Finland and the Nordic Pavilion. It was observed that sunlight is introduced into their interiors and modified within them using architectural tools employed in a well-thought-out manner meant to ensure optimal but variously altering and alternative conditions of illuminating exhibition pieces using sunlight. The research method was based on an analysis of designs and the author’s perceptual experience. Conclusions include observations that sunlight provides the possibility of uniquely highlighting art, enriched with the choreography and orchestration of light, which tie a given exhibition to its location, time and reference to the space of the cosmos.
    W artykule podjęto temat wykorzystania światła słonecznego we wnętrzach służących eksponowaniu sztuki. Omówiono właściwości światła słonecznego, wpływające na jego rolę eksponowania otoczenia, także przestrzeni wystawiania sztuki. Szczegółową analizę tematu przedstawiono na przykładzie pawilonów Biennale w Wenecji: Pawilonu Holandii, Finlandii i Państw Skandynawskich. Zauważono, że światło słoneczne jest wprowadzane do ich wnętrz i modyfikowane w nich dzięki architektonicznym narzędziom w przemyślany sposób, mający na celu zapewnienie optymalnych, ale też wariacyjnie zmiennych i wariantowych warunków oświetlenia eksponatów światłem dziennym. Metodę badania oparto na analizie projektów i doświadczeniu percepcyjnym autorki. We wnioskach zauważono, że światło słoneczne daje możliwości niepowtarzalnego eksponowania sztuki, wzbogaconego choreografią i orkiestracją światła, które wiążą daną wystaw

    Main aim of the article is an analysis of selected works by Chinese multidisciplinary artist – Ai Weiwei. The text presents a broad spectrum of architectural and artistic projects, it also shows similarities and differences between above-mentioned disciplines and focuses on different forms of collaborations between artists and architects. Presented realizations illustrate new tendentions and trends in architectural design of XXI century and different rections to local and global context. Presented material may be treated as a starting point to broader research concerning interactions between architecture and art.

    The main goal of the article is to present and analyse the new trend concerning collaboration between fashion designers and renowned architects. The case study is based on collaboration between the Italian brand Prada and studios like OMA, Herzog & de Meuron and SANAA. The text presents a wide spectrum of projects on the border of architecture, fashion, and art. It is also an analysis of similarities and diff erences between these disciplines. The presented buildings show new architectural trends of the 21st century and various reactions towards the local and global context. The material can be a point of departure to further studies concerning relations between fashion and architecture.

    Opis:
    Between March and August 2022, the National Museum in Lublin mounted the first in Poland exhibition of the Polish painter Tamara Lempicka. The number of public who visited it reached 86,667, which made it an event of the highest turn-out in Poland. An attempt to analyse the wonder of Lempicka’s communication success, the unwavering interest in her personality and art, has been made by the Author. This effort was helped through reaching the current carriers of her brand, namely contemporary fashion designers, authors of adverts, films, or literature pieces. The Author analysed the results of the research conducted during the Exhibition, amounting to 1,544 surveys in total. The study’s purpose was to verify public’s satisfaction, locations visitors had come from, source of information on the Exhibition, efficiency of the Museum’s communication endeavours, and the public’s profile. The visitors considered the following to have been the Exhibition’s strongest points (by order of preference); exhibits, topic, layout, narrative, curator’s concept, and the design. Interestingly, when the Exhibition was open to the public and the advertising and informing campaign was being implemented, the administrators of social media observed a significant increase in the number of visitors, The Facebook profile witnessed the increase by 54.8 per cent versus the previous five months, while the Instagram account’s visits grew by as many as 202.6 per cent. Furthermore, also the campaign promoting the event was analysed; it was not limited either to the Internet or external advertising, but was also conducted at the venue where the Exhibition was held. The power of social media was efficiently used and consciously managed by the Exhibition organizers, which substantially contributed to popularizing the project.

    Dynamiczny rozwój technologii komputerowych i systemów multimedialnych sprawił, że sposób czerpania wiedzy o otaczającym nas świecie się zmienił. Transformacjom poddały się i muzea, w których cyfrowe zasoby oraz ekspozycje multimedialne intensywnie wypierają dwudziestowieczne metody prezentacji oparte na pasywnej kontemplacji. Współczesne wystawy to nastawione na wywołanie określonych doświadczeń przestrzenie, atrakcyjne dla odbiorcy dzięki swojej immersyjności i interakcyjności, zastosowaniu multimediów i narracyjnej struktury. W artykule opisano zaobserwowane zmiany i tendencje w projektowaniu ekspozycji i budynków w odniesieniu do ewolucji instytucji muzealnych. Przedstawiono obiekty zrealizowane lub zaprojektowane w ciągu minionego dwudziestolecia ze szczególną uwagą poświęconą nowym muzeom w Polsce. Przeprowadzone analizy potwierdzają, iż obiekt muzealny – jego miejsce w przestrzeni miasta, architektoniczny projekt układu funkcjonalnego, stref wystawowych i aranżacji samych ekspozycji ewoluują równolegle do zmieniających się technologii i nowych potrzeb społecznych.
    The dynamic development of computer technologies and multimedia systems has changed the way we learn about the world around us. Museums have undergone transformations, in which digital resources and multimedia exhibitions intensively supplant the 20th-century presentation methods based on passive contemplation. Contemporary exhibitions are spaces focused on evoking specific experiences, attractive to the recipient thanks to their immersion and interactivity, using multimedia and narrative structure. The article describes the observed changes and trends in the design of exhibitions and buildings in relation to the evolution of museum institutions. Objects constructed or designed over the past two decades have been presented, with particular attention devoted to new museums in Poland. The conducted analysis confirms that the museum object – its place in the city space, the architectural design of the functional arrangement, as well as the exhibition areas and the arrangement of the exhibitions themselves is evolving in parallel with changing technologies and new social needs.

    Artykuł stanowi analizę wystawy Splendor i finezja. Duch i materia w sztuce Korei, która prezentowana była w Muzeum Narodowym w Warszawie na przełomie 2019 i 2020 r. Autorka proponuje jako metodę analizy studia nad narracją – przeniesione – zgodnie z propozycją Małgorzaty Czermińskiej – z literaturoznawstwa na grunt wystawy muzealnej. Wychodząc od założeń klasycznego muzealnictwa, poprzez wypowiedzi osób odpowiadających za stworzenie wystawy, aż do analizy jej tytułu, autorka próbuje zbliżyć się do najważniejszego – filologicznej interpretacji narracji muzealnej wystawy. W artykule ujawnia się zarazem wiedza proponowana zwiedzającym, jak i sposób ujęcia, w tym – tabuizacja pewnych tematów.
    The article analyzes the exhibition titled Splendor i finezja. Duch i materia w sztuce Korei, which was presented at the National Museum in Warsaw at the turn of 2019 and 2020. The author proposes a narrative study as a method of analysis, transferred, as proposed by Małgorzata Czermińska, from literary studies to a museum exhibition. Starting from the classical assumptions of museology, through statements of the people responsible for creating the exhibition, to the analysis of its title, the author tries to get closer to the most important, philological interpretation of the museum exhibition narrative. The article reveals the knowledge proposed to the visitors and the way of presenting it, including tabooing certain topics.

    In this paper, I will look at the functioning of space through a specific example of the practice of socially modelling past realities in the 1940 Exposition of the Portuguese World. (Exposição do Mundo Português). The perspective of the Exposition will allow us to analyse the model of the"Portuguese world" and propose the creation of an interpretative key, in order to understand the “essence” of Portuguese spatial imagery. We will look at the exhibition in the perspective of Krzysztof Pomian's semiophore theory, trying to interpret its main assumptions and the cultural patterns that fund it, as well as what kind of model of space it co‑creates. In the light of the exhibition we will try to answer the question of how space constitutes the mental foundation of the model of the"Portuguese world". And how the spatial patterns of Portuguese culture are made present through the selected semiophores of the Portuguese World Exhibition.

    Artykuł jest drugą częścią publikacji dotyczącej działalności projektowej designerki i projektantki wnętrz Lilly Reich. Była ona wszechstronnie uzdolniona, zajmowała się modą, wzornictwem, projektowaniem wystaw oraz wnętrz. W wieku 27 lat stała się członkinią Werkbundu, osiem lat później jako pierwsza kobieta w historii została członkiem jego zarządu. U szczytu sławy i możliwości twórczych od swojego wieloletniego współpracownika Ludwiga Miesa van der Rohego otrzymała propozycję nauczania wraz z nim w szkole Bauhaus. Powierzono jej kierowanie warsztatami tkackimi oraz pracownią projektowania wnętrz. Podjęta w artykule próba uchwycenia najbardziej charakterystycznych cech jej twórczości daje możliwość określenia kierunku, w jakim poprowadziła nauczanie w ostatnich kilkunastu miesiącach istnienia tej szkoły. W procesie analizy wyszczególniono następujące cechy jej działalności: ustanowienie nowej metodologii projektowania wystaw, wykorzystywanie szlachetnych materiałów naturalnych, eksponowanie ich atrakcyjnej powierzchni, prostota i ekonomika mebli oraz ich szlachetne wykończenie, stosowanie niestandardowych tkanin we wnętrzach, wykorzystywanie różnego stopnia przenikania światła i przejrzystości materiałów, a także wywoływanie wrażenia przestrzenności i przestronności wnętrz połączone z ideą integracji wnętrza i zewnętrza.
    The article is the second and the follow up part of the publication about Lilly Reich, a recognised interior and spatial designer. Lilly was a versatile and exceptionally gifted designer who worked across various design disciplines: fashion, product design, exhibition design and interior design. At the age of 27, she became a member of Werkbund and eight years later as the first woman in history, became a member of its board. At the height of her fame, she received an offer from Mies van der Rohe, her long-time collaborator, to teach with him at the Bauhaus school. Lilly became the head of weaving workshops and interior design studio. The article attempts to outline the most characteristic features of her work which also show the overall design direction of the school in the months preceding its closure. In the analysis the following changes and characteristics were found: introduction of new exhibition design methodology; emphasis on the use of precious and natural materials, especially with regards to displaying their surfaces; simplicity and economics of furniture; emphasis on the use of high-end finishes; non-standard use of fabrics in interiors; use of various transparent and translucent materials in order to enhance the perception of space; and the idea of integrating an interior and exterior to achieve a further effect of spaciousness.

    O znaczeniu wystroju wnętrza kościelnego w rozważaniach nad pięknem w przestrzeni sakralnej nie trzeba nikogo przekonywać. Jest ono uwarunkowane architekturą i w znacznej mierze od niej zależy, niemniej jednak całe rozważanie poświęcono sacrosferze wnętrza i niektórym aspektom sakralności w przestrzeni publicznej. Polska przechodziła różne przemiany historyczne i zawsze swoją tożsamość narodową budowała na wartościach religijnych, ale to nie znaczy, że jednocześnie dbano o wysoki poziom sztuki sakralnej. Sztuka współczesna ciągle jeszcze niesie balast okrucieństw XX wieku. Oto opadły wszelkie kurtyny. Sacrum powraca na swoje miejsce, ale pojawiają się nowe dylematy. Jak sprostać czystym wartościom sacrum? Jak się uczyć troskliwości o sakralny charakter współczesnych katolickich świątyń? Jak ta troska wyglądała kiedyś i czym się ona wyraża dzisiaj? Pomimo tego, że podstawowe problemy sztuki sakralnej zostały zdefiniowane już dawno, to pod wpływem wielu czynników zewnętrznych wciąż polska sztuka sakralna nie może znaleźć swojego miejsca, a biorąc pod uwagę skalę realizacji sakralnych, na to by zasługiwała. W sztuce sakralnej nie może istnieć całkowita dowolność i izolowany subiektywizm. Sztuka wypływa z wewnętrznego doświadczenia, ale potrzebuje oparcia. Odkrywane dziedzictwo kulturowe może stać się „tu i teraz” sztuki sakralnej prowadzącej do wiary widzącej.
    The importance of a church interior design in considering the beauty of a sacred place is beyond any dispute. Although it is, to a great degree, conditioned by architecture. The core of this text I would like to concentrate solely on the sacrosphere within a church and on some of the aspects of the sacred in public space. Throughout its turbulent history Polish national identity has heavily drawn from its religious sources. This intensity, however, doesn’t mean the concern for the matching an artistic level. Also, contemporary art still carries the burden of the 20th century barbarities. A page has been turned. The sacred is being reinstated, yet new dilemmas arise. How to address the innermost values of the sacred? How to cultivate the concern for the sacral character of present-day Catholic shrines? What form did it use to have and how is it expressed nowadays? Despite the fact that its primary issues had been defined long time ago, due to various outside factors Polish sacral art is still going through a lot of soul-searching. Bearing in mind extensive investment into new temples, this should not be the case. Sacral art does not thrive on absolute freedom and isolated subjectiveness. Art is born out of internal experience, but it needs external support as well. Delving into cultural heritage becomes “the here and now” of the sacral art that leads towards prophetic faith.
