    Opis:
    The operative concept of remix translates into a renewed tension in the contemporary journalistic field by means of a complex and not pacific coexistence of a read/write and a read/only culture. This ambivalence has also been designated as a convergence or mash-up culture. Beyond its modern structural elements (overseas delegations, staff correspondents, special assignments, freelancers, stringers, fixers, translators), the overall framework of international news reporting is being remixed and challenged by the emergence of a renewed confederacy of correspondences supported by online digital networks. The combination of technology particularly the Internet and its graphical interface, the World Wide Web with the emergence of nonconventional journalists is transforming previous meanings and implications of eyewitnessing as a journalistic keyword. Traditional foreign correspondents no longer exercise hegemony over international news. This article, based on a comprehensive literature review, addresses the state of flux in international journalism signalling the emerging typologies and confronting those with the previous standard model of correspondence.

    Opis:
    This article provides a comparative analysis of the functioning of direct democracy within two social movements, operating in different socio-cultural conditions: the American student movement of the 1960s, and the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) move ment of 2011. The author assumes that the idea of direct democracy is evolving in terms of tactics and consistently developing in the course of succeeding social movements and struggles. To prove the point, the author analyzes student counter-culture organizations and OWS in regard to their relation to violence, the idea of alternative governance by the social movement, human relations inside the movement, and the concept of the enemy in respect to which the alternative is being formed.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the thermal-flow study of closed cooling system with special emphasis on the working parameters of the cooling tower. The uniqueness of the analysis lays in measurement done inside the working cooling tower to identify thermal-flow processes across its radius. Next, the analysis of a cooling water temperature drop, in the cooling system cooperated with a set of cooling towers, is considered. As an example of these studies there are proposed the optimal cooling water flow rates between two cooling towers to achieve the highest possible water temperature difference in cooling system.
    W pracy przedstawiono cieplno-przepływowe badania zamkniętego układu chłodzenia ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem parametrów pracy chłodni kominowych. Unikalność analizy polega na pomiarze wykonanym wewnątrz pracującej chłodni kominowej w celu identyfikacji procesów wymiany ciepła i masy wzdłuż jej promienia. Następnie przeanalizowano stopień schłodzenia wody cyrkulującej w układzie chłodzenia współpracującym z zespołem chłodni kominowych. Jako przykładowy wynik tych badań zaproponowano dobór optymalnych strumieni przepływu wody chłodzącej w układzie dwóch chłodni kominowych, pozwalający uzyskać możliwie najwyższy spadek temperatury (stopień schłodzenia) cyrkulującej wody.

    The article analyses the contexts and practices of head doctors regarding childbirth, whether reproducing or challenging the gender regimes. The research sheds light on men’s practices and representations of masculini- ties in hospital maternity wards and links the personal practices and structural mechanisms reproducing men’s positions of power in the Czech organization of childbirth. It is based on data from research interviews and the public speeches of senior Czech obstetricians and head doctors of maternity wards (15 in-depth interviews and 3 panel discussions). Two basic topics are taken into detailed consideration when discussing the patterns of men’s practices and their discursive representations: (1) defence of the status quo (compliance with the lege artis approach) in contrast to alternative approaches to childbirth by some head doctors and (2) the living paradox of the hospital setting presented as being a formal institution par excellence, while at the same time being an environment for the very informal, individual authority of head doctors.
