This article aims at describing the evidence for the efficacy of communication. The author differentiates effectiveness and efficacy of communication, as well as communication per se and communication with each other. He argues that there can be no discussion about the efficacy of communication without establishing its effectiveness. A communication process can be ineffective either when there is no recipient of the communicate or when the message is not received due to, for example, a noise. Even though the effectiveness can be measured using a nominal scale, the efficacy requires at least an ordinal scale. The author bases his conclusions on the theory of communication models, intentionality and, proposed by him, “a constant species”.

This paper explores the concept of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) and presents changes resulting from its evolution. The purpose of this paper is to determine directions of development of the IMC concept and facilitate future research and empirical implementation of integrated marketing communication. Based on a descriptive review of the scientific literature, relevant and significant to the marketing communication knowledge, the authors established the state of development of the IMC concept. The overview of prevailing theories enabled the comparison of the existing definitions and main features of the concept. The paper presents changes and key drivers for the evolution of IMC. The analysis allowed the authors to identify new approaches to the concept of IMC in the world science and determine that the modern IMC concept is moving toward holistic solutions, which include strategic planning in the organisation and modern marketing knowledge. Nowadays, the integration of marketing communications means the need to seek solutions at a strategic level and value creation based on long-term relationships with customers. The future of the IMC concept also means the need to conduct studies that will determine the possibility of its use in relation to different types of organisations (non-profit organisations or administrative units etc.), as well as various industries or business sectors.

Opis:
This study experimentally evaluated Polish school students' competence at written communication, understood as one of the forms of social communication. The task, performed online, was designed to see if the students were able to select the most important information from a given base text and to compose new texts on this basis to comply with three different length requirements, and how they behaved under the pressure of the time allocated to complete the sub-tasks. Results from an overall pool of 500 secondary school students from a diverse sample of schools (in the city of Poznań and the surrounding Wielkopolska province) that differed in terms of type and ranking suggest an overall poor competence at various composite skills involved in written social communication: information selection, summarization, logical structuring, and cohesive embellishment. Participants clearly exhibited various problems with concisely formulating thoughts, properly complying with instructions, etc. Composing a short, written message (based on a provided base text) and/or freely embellishing and reformulating information clearly caused them considerable difficulty. The article closes with some suggestions for how the methods used could potentially be improved in future studies of this type.

This paper presents how organisational communication, being an important component of organisational behaviour, can be researched from a linguistic perspective with the help of communication audits. Putting the linguistic viewpoint at the forefront means that apart from using established methods such as interviews and questionnaires, the communication auditor collects and analyses real-life oral and written texts produced by auditees. The paper showcases the results of linguistic research into the communication audit, such as the communication audit model and procedures additional to the linguistic form sheet. Following this the paper presents how these research findings may be utilised in teaching practice in order to familiarise students of linguistics with both organisational communication and organisational behaviour.

Background: In the work of a physician, not only knowledge, and professional skills (technical/hard) are important, but also psychosocial skills (relational/soft). Objectives: The primary goal of the presented research was evaluation of the level (study of the state) of communication competences of physicians and determination of the factors on which this level depends. An additional goal was analysis of the needs and educational possibilities within the existing models of education in the area of interpersonal communication provided in Medical Universities in Poland. Design, setting and participants: Information about educational curricula available on the websites of 12 Medical Universities in Poland were compared. The self-designed questionnaire and adjective check list were subject to standardization from the aspect of reliability and validity. The study groups included 1) occupationally-active physicians (185 respondents) employed in outpatient departments and hospitals, who were covered by a pre-graduate standard educational programme and not trained in interpersonal communication skills as part of their continuing education; 2) medical students covered by a standard educational programme (246 respondents). Results: The conducted analysis of the educational curricula showed a very narrow scope of problems concerning professional medical communication. The results indicating the general state of respondents’ communication competences within all aspects (motivation, skills, knowledge) were relatively low. That clearly indicated an inadequate educational model (students), and lack of post-graduate training in the area of professional medical communication (physicians). Conclusions: The education of students of medicine should cover selected classes within the scope of professional communication competences. These classes should be based on the systemically designed training of skills. The patterning by students of the relations attitudes observed in practising physicians is insufficient. It is necessary to apply a methodical evaluation of communication competences, diagnosing educational needs of occupationally active physicians in this respect. This allows the preparation of courses in accordance with the needs in the area of professional communication competences.

Processes of globalization, digitalization and convergence have radically transformed mass communication, opening new possibilities for communicating. These transformations have also shaped the traditional international communication, based on the model of transmission and domination of nation states. This caused a need for new approach to the meaning and issues of such communication, hence such expressions as: international communication or global communication appeared in Polish literature of Media studies. In the opinion of German researchers the most adequate term, which also reflects the essence of transformations in international communication is: transnational communication. This article aims to explain this term by identifying its denotation, fields and perspectives for studies and by outlining characteristic features of transnational communication.

This paper discusses the role of language in internal corporate communication. It is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the organisational aspects of corporate communication, in particular internal corporate communication. It presents various organisational strategies of corporations which influence how employees communicate. Additionally, communication directions, structures and networks are elaborated on. The second part of this paper deals with aspects of language that are of significance for the functioning of formal and informal communication networks. It is demonstrated that formal communication and informal communication are intertwined, and language has great impact on communicative interactions and collaboration in international settings. Undoubtedly English is considered a common language in intercultural business communication, and its characteristics as a business lingua franca are presented in this paper. However, communication in business lingua franca English may negatively influence communication in international business settings, in particular when native speakers of English act as communicators. Therefore, it is argued that knowledge of and skills to use other languages may facilitate building and maintaining formal and informal communication networks. This paper elaborates on limitations and advantages of applying English and languages other than English in internal corporate communication.

The aim of the article is to present the results of a quantitative survey of marketing managers in Polish museums on the marketing communication tools used in these institutions. The survey was conducted using the CAWI method in 2017 on a group of 85 marketing managers in museums. In the study, the scope of application and the importance of particular marketing communication tools for museums were established. It has been shown that advertising and Public Relations have a key role in the promotion of museums, in particular contact with the media and the organization of events. This study shows that a large group of Polish museums uses a fairly narrow range of marketing communication tools and that they only sporadically reach for modern communication tools. The article also presents the factors that have a positive and negative impact on the possibility of implementing effective marketing communication in museums.

Efficient communication is the key to mutual understanding between the authorities and citizens, and thus to public support for government decisions. EU Member States follow the principle that the democracy is based on the lasting dialogue focused on the inclusion of all citizens in decision-making processes. At local level, Member States implemented communication projects and initiatives, which then became the cornerstone for national programs directed at the support of communication. The purpose of all communication initiatives is to involve the citizens in discussions concerning the development of towns, city areas, regions, states and to listen to public proposals, which are then included in the national policies. The exemplary experience of Germany, France, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland has been researched.

Opis:
Aim/purpose – The aim of the paper is to introduce a concept for measuring effectiveness of communication in project teams, taking into account 19 effectiveness aspects which enables to evaluate individual communication effectiveness of each team member, the overall communication effectiveness of a team or organization and to compare teams or organizations for communication effectiveness. The results of a small scale study serve as a proof of the proposed concept comprising the questionnaire and the way of presenting its results. Design/methodology/approach – First, a list of communication effectiveness aspects is proposed, based on a literature review. They are additionally grouped into aspects dependent on the sender, the recipient, and both. On the basis of the identified communication effectiveness aspects a questionnaire for measuring the level of communication effectiveness is prepared and the way of presenting its results is demonstrated on a small scale research sample. The case study is used to validate the presented concept. Findings – The developed questionnaire, based on the identified communication effectiveness aspects, together with the proposed form of presenting its results can be successfully applied to evaluate individual communication effectiveness of specific team members, the overall communication effectiveness of a team or organization and to compare teams or organizations for communication effectiveness. Research implications/limitations – The presented concept enables a graphically enriched assessment of communication effectiveness of individual team members, whole teams or organizations and also brings to the attention of the respondents the various aspects which influence communication effectiveness. It should be, however, noted that the results of the questionnaire base on the declarations of the respondents, which makes them subjective. Originality/value/contribution – The proposed concept of measuring communication effectiveness can be used as a tool for enhancing the communication effectiveness in project teams where some flaws or infirmities are observed. It constitutes a comprehensive way of tackling this problem by addressing an extensive list of communication effectiveness aspects and provides clear and meaningful tools of presenting the results.

Our times are often referred to as the new world order with its new economy. What this means is that capitalism has been restructured on a global scale, and people of widely different cultural and linguistic backgrounds have been thrown into contact more than ever before. Cultural contact may occur in the flows of information and mass media, as well as in the flows of actual people in migration. Given the ubiquity of cultural contact, mergers and hybrids, it is unsurprising that there should be a strong interest in intercultural communication. If intercultural communication is an exchange of stimuli, data and information through an interaction between individuals came from different local communication contexts, we can daily come across this type of communication process. Sociology as a discipline makes an important contribution to the study of intercultural communication: it is the key contribution of discourse analysis to take culture as empirical and cultural identity, difference and similarity as discursive constructions. Moreover, to investigate whether it is possible to avoid any of the problems of intercultural communication, it is suitable to start with the communication situation itself and analyze why misunderstanding and conflict arise. Today a new form of communication is necessary; it should take itself away from the temptation of merging, tolerating and joining together different cultural realities. Intercultural communication today moves towards an horizon much more complex, which offers a new interpretation: in fact it is necessary to promote cultural coordination and cooperation.

Opis:
Implementation of new technologies into political field has raised great hopes. Expectations were mainly focused on boosting the efficiency of political communication. Researchers also expected new technologies to bring the potential that would increase the involvement in political issues among citizens. Now we know that most of these expectations were not exaggerated. As the recent research shows it would be risky to describe all the changes in political communication as revolutionary. While discussing political communication in the era of new technologies two issues should be taken into account: (1) professionalization, and (2) a crisis of political communication. Due to the contradictory importance of both of them, this seems to be a paradox of our times. Thus both the political parties and politicians as individuals are currently facing a challenge of rebuilding relations with voters, especially in a long-term perspective. The difficulties in accomplishing that goal might, however, be overcome through the possibilities offered by the application of new technologies. And yet the question remains: would they be able to use it properly.
Implementacja nowych technologii w obszar komunikacji politycznej zrodziła wiele nadziei. Rodzi to jednak duże trudności, które mogłyby zostać przezwyciężone m.in. dzięki wykorzystaniu potencjału nowych technologii komunikacyjnych. Wciąż jednak pojawia się pytanie, czy politycy i  partie polityczne będą chcieli i potrafili z niego skorzystać?

Aim. The aim of the research is to identify intergenerational communication problems in tourism and hospitality enterprises and define teaching/learning initiatives and methodologies required to develop employees’ competencies to solve intergenerational communication problems. Methods. 12 semi-structured expert interviews with tourism and hospitality business owners and/or top-level management in three countries (Lithuania, Latvia, and Sweden) were conducted to collect information on generational differences in communication and intergenerational communication problems in the company. Qualitative content analysis was applied for data analysis. Results. Nine main groups of intergenerational communication problems have been detected and corresponding teaching/learning initiatives and methodologies that take into account the specific characteristics of each generation are recommended to eliminate each of the problems identified. Conclusion. Generational differences and differences in communication lead to intergenerational communication conflicts in tourism and hospitality enterprises. The suggestions on organising adult learners’ teaching/learning process based on generational differences may be applicable in workplace learning and also in educational institutions providing adult education. Cognitive value. The paper focusses on analysing intergenerational aspects in communication processes in tourism and hospitality enterprises and offers the means of solving communication conflicts by employing certain adult teaching/learning initiatives and methodologies suitable to non-formal and formal adult learning.

Customers of pharmacies in conversations with their pharmacists, when asking for help in choosing a treatment, often refer to various symptoms, including depression. Communication with the pharmacists is an important factor in shaping the consumers’ health knowledge and behaviors. The aim of the study was to investigate specific characteristics of pharmacist – patient conversations during which patients refer to depressive symptoms. The questionnaire included questions addressing various independent factors related to the communicative situation which may affect the number and kind of reported depressive symptoms. The study participants were 60 pharmacists (with university level and postsecondary education). The results of the statistical analysis confirmed the hypotheses about differences in reported symptoms of depression. A hypothesis that the confidence of customers in their communication with the pharmacists increases with the age and education of the pharmacists was confirmed only in part. In addition, the results revealed that factors such as community size, number of pharmacies in a community and number of employees per work shift significantly correlate with more intensive communication of depressive symptoms.

This study provides insights about how government communication through social media is perceived by the citizens during the coronavirus. To analyze this matter, 306 German citizens were asked in an online survey about how they perceived government social media communication. Key findings include the following: (1.) Ci- tizens mainly get information about the coronavirus pandemic on social media channels, (2.) Citizens perceive social media as a communication channel during the corona pandemic between useful and essential and, (3.) Social media is mainly chosen by the citizens as a communication channel because of the possibility to interact with others. These findings will help governments develop future strate- gies to foster communication addressing its citizen via social media channels more efficiently.

Purpose: As the organization grows, attention begins to be paid to the growing potential and role of communication. Communication, which so far played mainly the role of providing information in the course of the current rapid evolution, is beginning to be noticeable in every aspect of business operations. Currently, managers must be aware that communication affects the entire organization, while it is their role to influence communication in order to obtain the best benefits. The purpose of this article is to present comments or problems that were noticed by the authors of the reviewed articles during the communication process. Design/methodology/approach: This review is based on studies conducted in case to understand communication problems, published between 2017 and 2022. Findings: The analysis highlight that the communication problems in organizations are increasingly encountered and, what is most important, almost always very easy to solve. Practical implications: In the case that almost all the publications discussed are focused on the most common problems in enterprises, it can be assumed that with a high probability such problems will appear or have already appeared in every organization. Thanks to this review, as well as a deeper analysis of the aforementioned literature, readers of this article can very quickly identify similar communication problems in their environment and its exemplary solution. Originality/value: This review emphasizes that communication should be considered on many levels since it affects both people and organizations in different respects. In addition, in this research work, it can be indicated that communication allows us to better understand human needs and act on them appropriately.

The Image of the Speaker in the Reviews by Henryk Sienkiewicz The aim of the article is to investigate the ways in which the speaker in the reviews by Henryk Sienkiewicz presents himself to the reader and to describe the roles he performs. The present analysis indicates that there is a correspondence between the image of the speaker and the type of the review. On the one hand, in case of reviews with a complex structure and a diverse illocutionary potential, i.e. academic reviews, polemical reviews which discuss and assess various aspects of the literary work, the speaker frequently assumes the roles of an expert, a connoisseur or a teacher, which often permeate and complement one another. On the other hand, reviews in the form of an overview or a summary usually feature a speaker-informer. Regardless of the genre, the speaker manifests his presence in the first-person plural forms and pronouns (my, nasz; Eng. we, our) and uses surprisingly few singular forms. What may explain the employment of the “my” (“we”) form as the plural of modesty is an attempt to make the text of the review seem more objective, while the inclusive “my” (“we”) serves persuasive purposes.

The lack of proper communication between navigators is one of the many causes of dangerous situations in maritime transport. Automation of communication processes, in particular negotiation processes, can help either avoid such situations or, when they do occur, deal with them more promptly and effectively. We have characterized inference processes in maritime communication and the communication subontology used to describe these processes. The negotiating processes involving two or more parties are considered. An example is given of an encounter by three ships that requires communication (including negotiations) between the three navigators. We also present how the described communication processes can be automated using the developed subontology of communication.

Opis:
In contemporary media and communication science, mediatization is regarded as an “emerging paradigm”, but the term itself is diffuse and highly contingent. An attempt is made in this paper to integrate structural and individual concepts of mediatization theory by combining it with Bourdieu’s field theory using the example of science. After outlining the notion of mediatization underlying this text, the special features of scientific communication and the scientific field are presented. Hypotheses mentioned in the literature on the influence of new media technologies on science are contrasted with the state of research. This reveals that the impact of media innovations cannot be seen in a monocausal manner. In field-specific mediatization, they interact with various structural and individual elements.

Opis:
The purpose of the present paper is to suggest a philosophical basis for reflection on the transmission model of communication. The article is a contribution to the discussion about the genesis of the concept of communication. It also attempts to specify the conditions that have to be met to identify the non-etymological genesis of transmission approach to the phenomenon of communication. The paper consists of four sections. The first one distinguishes between a ‘model of communication’ and an ‘approach to communication’. While the second section examines the etymological and historical genesis of the contemporary term ‘communication’, it particularly discusses two metaphors on which the transmission model of communication builds: the ‘organic’ and the ‘transmission’ metaphors. The third section considers the basic elements of the Shannon–Weaver model of communication which is generally regarded as the very source of all communication models. The fourth section delivers a presentation of a philosophical perspective on the genesis of the transmission approach: Plato’s Phaedros, Scholastic semiotics, Descartes’ cogito and Locke’s empiricism are covered here. The most important conclusion that is drawn here has it that the philosophical perspective on the genesis of the concept of communication makes it possible to show that the category of transmission is inadequate for a serious reflection on the communication process.

Opis:
On the basis of the existing and unquestioned linguistic stance, a division of all the living creatures inhabiting the Earth into those which do not have language (i.e. prehuman and languageless) and those who have language (i.e. the genus Homo sapiens) is postulated. The paper briefly discusses a rich diversity of communication modes occurring in the domain of the prehuman communication systems, such as the auditory, visual, tactile, olfactory, electric, thermal, and seismic ones, with appropriate graphic illustrations. Furthermore, on the basis of the phenomenon of the observable shrinking of this diversity and the key position of the human species, it postulates the necessity of preserving this diversity in the context of biodiversity. This major postulate is in accord with the need to intensify attempts to preserve biodiversity as well as preserve the remaining diversity on the level of the prehuman communication systems as a major challenge of modern humanity. In this context, the human species is considered here as the species of the ‘overseers’ and ‘archivers’ of all the existing communication systems existing on the Earth as the carrier of the tree of life.

The submitted paper is of hypothetical and analytical nature. Its declared goal was to present communication within a family, the latter one understood as a complex system consisting of various subsystems, as there are: the matrimonial subsystem stricto sensu, the parentchildren interactions and the interaction among siblings. The communication analyses within the respective subsystems are illustrated by empirical investigation. The paper discusses different models, styles and barriers of interfamily communication. As predictable, the reciprocal approach based on partnership proved the most advantageous model of interfamily communication.

Opis:
This article aims to investigate the validity of criticism of what is known as psychologist-transmission communication  theory. It is accepted that theories which support the idea that communication is a process of conveying  (transmitting) psychological content of the mental states between participants (e.g. theories of Jakobson, Hovland, Newcomb et al.) are examples of the approach. There are doubts about such views, which arise from the assumptions of anti-psychologism and anti-mentalism (such as Frege, Husserl), as well as the rejection of traditional notions of subjectivity in philosophy after the linguistic turn. In order to justify the criticism the position of the “late” Wittgenstein is invoked, according to which communication activities (as well as thinking, understanding etc.) need not be considered as correlated to mental acts.

I prove my thesis by analyzing recent literature on the subject, websites of state universities in Poland, and functioning of blogs at the Faculty of Management and Economics at Gdansk University of Technology. The aim of the article is to present the concept of the sense of communication subjectivity from the perspective of its usefulness in research on media competences. The author discusses theoretical aspects of human subjectivity connected with communication activity referring to the literature in the field of political science, sociology, and psychology. She constructs a model of the sense of communication subjectivity based on available theories, then she verifies it in the questionnaire research on the relationship between the sense of communication subjectivity and social activity in territorial selfgovernments of the Śląskie Voivodeship. The results of the survey confirm the research hypothesis, according to which social activity is associated with a sense of communication subjectivity. Apart from the conclusions provided by the survey, the author formulates the proposal of further use of the concept in research on communication in various social situations, especially those involving asymmetric communication, for example, in work environment, health care, education, etc.

The paper presents quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the communication that was published on the official NATO account on Twitter in the first three months of 2017. The aim of the study was to determine who is the main recipient of the communication, and what kind of language is used by the sender. In the main hypothesis author claims that the language and format of the communication does illustrate the effect of mediatization on communication processes in online media. The author proved that even the language and format of the communication on security issues are formatted according to the requirements of online media and thus, are affected by the mediatization processes.

While much of the scholarship on populist political communication focuses on its content and a verbal style, less is known about the nonverbal cues accompanying populist messages. This paper aims in filling that gap by providing findings of the study on characteristics of nonverbal communication of two Polish presidential candidates: Bronisław Komorowski and Andrzej Duda, traced during two debates broadcast on television before the second round of the presidential elections in 2015. The results revealed that both candidates employed nonverbal cues such as appearance, eye contact, facial expressions, or gestures that emphasized their references towards the people or negative attitudes towards elites expressed in their verbal messages. The study also proved that the methods used previously in research on nonverbal content on television observational protocols and analysis of facial expressions may be successfully employed in studies on nonverbal components of the populist style of communication.

Interpersonal communication is a dynamic, complex process, and is conditioned by many factors, among which one of the most important roles is played by the personality of interaction partners. The article presents results of research on the influence of extraversion and emotional intelligence on selected aspects of communication when the process is mediated by the Internet. The study involved young adults (N = 51) aged 21–27 (M = 24.27; SD = 1.65; Md = 24), mostly women (Nk = 26; K/M = 1.08), who responded to the invitation to the study published on Facebook. The survey was conducted in the period from December 2019 to February 2020, through Messenger and GoogleForms to collect the results in personality questionnaires. On the basis of the correlation coefficients obtained, it can be assumed that the level of extraversion (r = .397, p = .002; r = 414, p < .001 and the level of emotional intelligence (r = .331, p = .009; r = .411, p < .001) may be responsible for the expression of emotions and productivity of the speech in an intermediary conversation. Due to the results of the conducted research, we put forward a thesis that the mediation of contact with another person thanks to the currently developed systems of smileys, does not lead to impoverishment of the emotional layer of the message.

The performance of collaborating information systems in the hydrosphere is based on the robustness and tolerance of the wireless communication task. It is strongly intertwined with the cooperation and coordination reliability under water for sharing resources and common purposes. Key technology and bottleneck is the physical layer communication in the underwater ''chameleon'' acoustic channel environment and the challenges of non trivial channel effects like the multipath propagation - which is rapidly varying over time and space. In this contribution we introduce the burst communication as one possible solution. These transmissions are supposed to be of a very short duration. The purpose is to occupy the acoustical channel in the underwater column only for a short time window, like in impulse and click communication (similar to the use by marine mammal, Khoisan and wugbe languages), e.g. to reduce the probability of transmission collisions and allows an efficient EMission CONtrol (EMCON).

Opis:
This article touches on the integrative aspects of non-verbal cultural communication as exemplified by diverse pantomime genres in modern Europe. The starting point being the characteristic features of this form of art, as well as its genesis and functions in the Eastern and Western parts of the globe. Festivals, which have been rapidly developing in the world of pantomime and street art since the beginning of the 1970s, play an exceptional role in European cultural exchange. They are, however, generally ephemeral projects, often placed besides institutionalised mainstream culture, with no aspirations to become part of the EFA for example. Nonverbal cultural communication in Europe is still poorly integrated and yet maintains a remarkable diversity of genres and multi-colour forms. Such decentralisation is also the source of its strength manifested by its ease in reaching an incredibly diverse audience, the ability to obtain feedback from mass audiences, its expansiveness (taking up various spaces), its flexible approach in its quest for answers - but at the same time respecting the rudiments of the rich, native European tradition of popular culture. It seems that EU institutions nowadays notice the significant role of this type of intercultural communication, asevidencedby, for example, the Commissioner Gabriel's statement regarding a meeting with EFA representatives on 22nd June 2021. The European Union has no harmonisation competences in the area of culture, but rather solely complementary and supporting functions with regards to Member States' activities - one can count on EU sectoral support funds from the Creative Europe Programme. The subsidisation of festival, confrontation, and meeting movements related to non-verbal cultural exchange can take place (and does take place) through regions, local governments, or cultural institutions.

The development of marketing communication is multi-directional and its new dimensions and forms are related to new business ideas, the growing use of the Internet and the changing behaviour of media users. The article aims to show the main changes in the field of marketing communication which are expressed through the growing influence of the new media, the development and increasingly professional character of marketing communication, both at the stage of ideas and forms, as well as the organisation of communication actions by enterprises and other entities on the market. This is tied to the changing role of the consumer in the marketing communication process and their increased activity at all stages of the value management process. Amongst the directions of marketing communication development and its increasingly international and professional character – as manifested by various entities with a big potential to advance creative businesses – should be noted as well. Moreover an intertwining of marketing communication with pop culture is observable. The changes in marketing communication presented in this article imply a new set of challenges for marketing research. The article is based on a literature review and an analysis of selected results of quantitative research conducted as part of the Internet in marketing and the use of new technologies in cooperation between a firm and its clients project.

Opis:
Korzystanie z jednego systemu komunikacyjnego ułatwia współpracę i eliminuje potencjalne błędy. W artykule przedstawiono okoliczności korzystania z narzędzi komunikacji w określonych sytuacjach, na wielu poziomach percepcji, w wielu kontekstach przedmiotowych, w subiektywnym odbieraniu i przekazywaniu informacji, na poziome wypracowanych technicznych komunikatorów, stosowanych w działaniach określonych grup. Wszystkie przedstawione przykłady narzędzi komunikacji dotyczą osobistych doświadczeń, doznanych w ostatnim czasie przez autorkę artykułu, w obszarze nauki, sztuki, kultury, techniki i nowych technologii, oraz osobistych refleksji nad zmiennością i ogromem współcześnie generowanych kodów i systemów komunikowania się.
The need to create messages is present in all aspects of live and conscious activities of man, at each stage of human development. The signs created in complex structures transfer communication signals which display the necessity of socialisation in a family, surroundings, ethnic or cultural communities. The condition for good communication and smooth flow of information is collective consciousness and high competence of the designing team. The use of one communication system facilitates cooperation and removes potential errors. The article presents the circumstances of using communication tools in specific situations, at numerous levels of perception, in many objective contexts, in subjective receipt and transfer of information, at the level of developed technical communicators, applied in the activities of specific groups. All presented examples of communication tools refer to personal experience that has been recently gained by the author of the article in the fields of science, art, culture, engineering and new technologies, as well as personal reflection on the changeability and magnitude of communication codes and systems generated in our times.

Opis:
There is no denying that new styles of communication have already made great advances in both academic and workplace environments. As Chester (2002) believes, there are now different communication needs whose hierarchy has also changed. The efficiency, frequency and quality of communication are determined by many important variables – people’s (multiple) identities and age, or one’s first language being cases in point. These new styles of communication may be considered surprising, linguistically inaccurate, or even rude. Many of them do also not comply to ones that would be created by native speakers, as the people who use them more often than not produce quite awkward structures – on the one hand this is an example of pure corporate jargon and ESP (in the workplace context), on the other a unique discourse heavily manifesting its own identity, first language and norms of politeness present in a particular community (Paltridge 2012). Thus the discourse produced (already creating a new style of communication) violates pragmatic norms obvious to native speakers, as well as being highly surprising (if not even confusing) to other non-native speakers. The proposed article aims to demonstrate the results of the analysis of corporate emails produced by various non-native advanced speakers of English. The analysis mainly focuses on corpus utterances demonstrating a lack of pragmatic competence, as well as the existence of “multiple identities” of their authors.

The article presents the impact of remote work, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, on the functioning of Scrum teams. Attempts have been made to analyse the positive and negative aspects of remote work. The article also looks at the impact of remote work on the level of communication and efficiency of Scrum teams. For this purpose, the author conducted research on a sample of 40 organisations that declared to use Scrum methodology, using 187 questionnaires as the research material. The study was carried out at the turn of April and May 2021 and was carried out using the CAWI technique. The obtained results were analysed using the Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis methods, and enable defining a picture of an organisation's readiness to work remotely. In addition, they also allowed for an assessment of how the infrastructure used for remote work communication translates into the organisation of Sprint meetings. This paper presents conclusions aimed at counteracting the observed irregularities detected during the tests. At the end, the author proposes solutions that could improve communication within Scrum teams, with remote work in mind.

Cri du Chat syndrome (CdC) is a rare disease characterized, among others, by decreased muscle tone, microcephaly, and high palate; underdevelopment of the mandible, abnormal structure and laryngeal function (somatic symptoms) and disorders of psychomotor development and intellectual disability (psychomotor symptoms). These children have a varied level of functioning and most of them do not use verbal speech. Describing the problem of preverbal communication behaviors, the following elements were taken into account: the level of behavior in the primary communication, sensory, auditory communication, organization of behavior and signaling needs. The purpose of this article is to describe the pre-verbal behavior of children with Cri du Chat syndrome. The following questions were formulated: What is the level of pre-verbal communication (primary, sensory and auditory) of a child with CdC syndrome? What are the communicative behaviors of the child with the CdC team and at what level of organization? What is the level of signaling your needs by a child with CdC? The preverbal communication behavior of children with the Cri du Chat team presented in the article indicate that they are diverse, ranging from indicating the gesture of what they need, to vocalizing in order to provoke contact with another person. The behavior of the daughter / son indicated by the parents may constitute the basis for the teaching process of preverbal communication.

It was an interesting question as to how politics and the Internet are becoming connected to one another. However, with the appearance of Web 2.0, these surveys have become pointless, since the emphasis has moved to websites supporting the emergence of online communities. Research of Hungarian party websites has not yet been completed. Adapting to this new trend, researchers have begun to turn their attention to a completely new field of investigation. This study makes an attempt to analyse the changes in the informative and interactive functions of Hungarian party websites on the basis of three different eras (the 1990s, the mid-2000s and the present). Finally, with an international comparison, it evaluates the situation of websites in 2010.

Disorders in this area might have different nature. Some children can be on a satisfactory level in linguistic area, some did not carve communication skills in sufficient level and it is hard to predict their development in this area. Additional difficult are huge differences between development of their communication skills. Evaluation is the fundamental component of persuasion, and as such is making the constitutive frame for political conflicts. It is a function of meaning, concerning primarily the expression of our principle and emotive attitudes to reality. Every persuasive evaluation must be communicated – carried by verbal and non-verbal signs, assembled by codes which organize emotions at three levels of: lexemes, evaluative statements and narrative texts (superstructures). The text describes the main practices of evaluation in political communication, following the premises of anthropology of word and mass media theory. Working on the examples from political debates, selected means of persuasive evaluations are tested. To recapitulate the aforementioned claims an overall structural model of analysis is presented. It comprises all relevant factors and contexts of evaluation practices in political persuasion.

Previous studies in multi-agent systems have observed that varying the type of information that agents communicate, such as goals and beliefs, has a significant impact on the performance of the system with respect to different, usually conflicting, performance metrics, such as speed of solution, communication efficiency, and travel distance/cost. Therefore, when designing a communication strategy for a multi-agent system, it is unlikely that one strategy can perform well with respect to all of performance metrics. Yet, it is not clear in advance, which strategy will be the best with respect to each metric. With multi-agent systems being a common paradigm for building distributed systems in different domains, performance goals can vary from one application to the other according to the domain’s specifications and requirements. To address this issue, this work proposes a genetic algorithm-based approach for learning a goal- oriented communication strategy. The approach enables learning an effective communication strategy with respect to flexible, user-defined measurable performance goals. The learned strategy will determine what, when, and to whom information should be communicated during the course of task execution in order to improve the performance of the system with respect to the stated goal. Our preliminary evaluation shows that the proposed approach has promising results and the learned strategies have significant usefulness in improving the performance of the system with respect to the goals.

Opis:
In 1978, in the Holy See, all communication took place thanks to the analogue technology of text, sound and image recording. In the following years, the progress in computer science, made it possible to save any kind of data in the form of digital recording, so that one could collect data and transfer it to any place in an instant. Digitalization also allowed the Vatican to create a new model of communication with the modern world. This model was first based on the capabilities of computer networks and then on the Internet. It was first tested by the Holy See in Latin America. The experience of the Latin American Church’s Computer Network (RIIAL) was transferred to the Vatican, and then developed and proposed by John Paul II to the entire Universal Church. This model of digital communication would not have been possible without collaborators such as John Patrick Foley, Judith Zoebelein, Joaquin Navarro-Valls and a group of lay Catholics and clergy from Latin America. It was thanks to them that the Holy See began to communicate digitally through the World Wide Web and to use e-mail in a relatively short time since their invention. The present analysis concerns the creation of a digital model of communication during the pontificate of John Paul II (1978–2005).The inclusion of social media in the communication model of the Vatican, took place during the successors of the Pope from Poland.

The subject of article considers speculations about structure, style and pragmatic aspect of inscriptions put in issue notebook as the matter of communication between teacher and the student’s family home. Four notebooks, which were shared by the parents for the purposes of this research paper, were elaborately analysed. To the fore of interaction between the teacher and student’s home environment come such forms of linguistic behaviours which may be considered as complaints, questions or requests. Some of them sound like charges, regrets over one’s behaviour and proceeding. Parents also occur in the role of the sender- they write justifications or excusals from classes if needed. The most common forms of language are in official and elevated style.

Opis:
Traditional radio communication has gained significantly from using multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) architecture in the system. Many wireless applications, such as wireless LAN and cellular network, have adopted this technology to improve their system performance. However, the effect of MIMO systems has not been investigated in the case of inductive near field short range communications. The purpose of this paper is to explore a new method for increasing the magnetic communication range using MIMO. Three system models includingMISO, SIMO and MIMO are proposed to characterize the number of transmitters and receivers to the link. These models have helped to extend not only the range but also the communication channel in NFMIC.

The paper presents a fragment of the author’s research into interferences in in-tercultural communication with the participation of foreign students learning Polish. The research made it possible to record various stressful situations and stressogenic factors, including “face¬ threatening” ones, namely those involving the risk of losing one’s face, to which the foreign interlocutor, or sometimes al-so the other participant of the communication act, were exposed. The aim of the research is to detect mechanisms causing the image of the interlocutor or interlocutors to be upset (undermined). It also identifies and discusses didactic and non¬ didactic situations causing negative emotional perceptions and mental states at least in one of the communicating parties. The paper uses the concepts of “face” by E. Goffman, P. Brown and Levinson, as well as conceptual appa-ratus and research methodology of American communication ethnographers.

The aim of this paper is to present theories, current research on the forms and importance of a mother’s communication with her child in a prenatal period, and discuss the results of own research in this area. In the research, the Communication with a Prenatal Child Questionnaire was used which measures six forms of prenatal communication. Prenatal communication is significant for both a mother and a child in her womb. Thanks to prenatal communication the mother can explore more consciously the challenges of pregnancy which are preparatory tasks for the role of a parent and the child develops better. The mother learns how to express her feelings non-verbally through empathy, facial expressions, touch, synchrony, and intuition. After childbirth, she can use the forms of communication from the prenatal period.

Opis:
Glyphosate, a herbicide blocking an enzyme essential for all plants, but not for animals and humans, has certain advantages as compared to other plant protection products. It is not persistent. Due to the production and application of more than 700.000 tons per year, large portions of mankind are exposed. The International Agency on Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has looked more closely on glyphosate and has classified it as “probably carcinogenic for humans (2A)” The German Bundesamt für Risikobewertung (BfR) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have analysed the data and contradict the IARC classification. In this paper, the process of decision finding and essential arguments for the contradictory classification are commented. In the ensuing public discussions, conflicts could have been rationalized if the BfR and the EFSA had offered more transparency regarding their evaluation and had restricted their opinions and their proposals to their genuine task: to propose regulations concerning the risks (which follow from possible hazards).
International Agency on Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organisation(WHO) bardziej dokładnie przyjrzała się temu herbicydowi i sklasyfikowała go jako prawdopodobnie karcinogenny dla ludzi (2A).

VERBAL COMMUNICATION
Opis:
The author is interested in verbal communication problems between generations - the young and the old. The opposition US vs. THEM is reflected in language and its communicative use, deepening the distance between the generations. An exclusion of children and youth typical for previous centuries is no longer true. It was replaced by a progressive cultural marginalization of old age people. The differences between the language of the young and the old are manifested on the lexical, phraseological and stylistic levels. Having enumerated the language, stylistic and communicative problems of the theoretical and methodological nature, the author presents three possibilities of inter-generation communication: (1) Each of the interactants maintains one's own way of speaking and then the communication becomes more difficult or even blocked - confrontation style. (2) Both parties present a mutual compromise tendencies if the aim of the communication act is a mutual understanding - consensual style. (3) The interactants adopt their interlocutor's style - adoptive style (chameleon style).

This article discusses relation between language awareness, identity and multilingualism. Notion of bilingualism can be interpreted in many different ways – depending on research perspective (sociological, psychological, pragmalinguistic etc.). The most recent research (thanks tneuropsychological instruments) shows relatively objective view of this phenomenon. In this way, it is possible to separate natural bilingualism from (even perfect!) knowledge of foreign language – and double (lingual) identity from efficient exploitation of new, second languaculture.

From research on policy implementation and reform in education, it is well known that change is either very slow or tends to fail. Implementation is a complex procedure, not a direct transfer from government policy to practice (Younie, 2006). There is also research-based knowledge about planning and implementing of ICT strategies in Finland and difficulties in this implementation (Lavonen, Lattu, Juuti, & Meisalo, 2006). Consequently, it is challenging to help student teachers or practicing teachers to adopt use of ICT in education. We will focus here mainly on initial teacher education (TE) according to the OECD ICT in Initial Teacher Training (IITT) project aims. In general, there is a broad agreement on reasons and methods why and how ICT should be integrated to TE. The importance of this area can be seen in that there are specific associations for promoting research in this area like the Association for Information Technology in Teacher Education and many more whose activities expend to this field like the Finnish Association for Mathematics and Science Education Research in Finland.

Opis:
Communication always takes place by means of symbols. Information must be coded by the sender, i.e. expressed by the use of symbols (mostly language symbols), and then decoded by the recipient. The process of message decoding may be divided into two stages: the acquisition and the interpretation of the message, so-called “understanding” through the attaching of the meaning to symbols, which made up the message. Itself the understanding of the message is a not a sufficient condition of communication, as it may happen so, that the recipient interprets (understands) the message in a more or less different way from what the sender intended to transfer, what in practice may lead to the consequences more or less similar to the total impossibility of decoding the message. We may speak about communication only if the meanings attached by the sender to the individual symbols are close or identical to the meanings attached to these symbols by the recipient.

Opis:
In my thesis, the topic of which is Communication in State and Public Administration, I would like to pay attention to problems that arise to civil servants in everyday verbal contact in the offices of civil service as well as to other people. Many misunderstandings or conflicts can be reached here. Communication is a means of mutual influence of persons. It is thus a real proprietor of the social process. It enables social interaction which makes a social being from human being. Pressumption of communication is a certain commonly recognized set of meanings within particular group or society. Communication in society has a lot of various forms and aspects. On the basis of analyzing particular communication processes, a theory of social communication has been gradually created as a common base of those scientific disciplines that deal with examining the interaction of information in society. All of us are involved in the process of communication in society. A human being must communicate. Their personal development, involvement in the process of work, emotional and esthetical sphere inevitably require contacts as well as information exchange with other people. To explain the status of civil servants in the mentioned context it is therefore necessary to introduce a legal framework of their position.

Opis:
The fundamental element of safety and of the presence of a sense of security is their being communicated to the public, which precedes development based on common perceptions and interpretations of the surrounding reality. With the development of societies, the progress of digitalisation in the field of communication, and the smooth transmission of information and data, the individualisation and specialisation of communications leading to completely new forms of activity, and social media and messages which are not addressed to the public, have become increasingly important. This refers to all events and phenomena in the public sphere, and its impact on civic life, the manner of its assessment, and the narrative which arises, and which is considered to be true by certain social groups or societies, as they can identify themselves with it, and, finally, treat it as their own – post truth.
