    In recent years, the development of renewable energy sources has become one of the key demands in the European Union's policy. In Poland, the idea emerged that the energy potential of domestic agriculture may be an opportunity for broader use of the available agricultural biomass. Given that agricultural biogas has long been seen as one of the most promising directions for energy transition, the goal of the article was to assess the potential of the agricultural biogas market in Poland. The research methodology was based on statistical measures related to analysing the structure and changes over time in individual years. The structure analysis was carried out for selected Polish provinces, for which empirical distributions were built and selected descriptive parameters were calculated. A similar study was made in relation to selected EU countries. In addition, according to the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy, at least one agricultural biogas plant should be established in each Polish municipality. On this basis, the article assesses the ecological effect of the project on agricultural biogas in Marcinkowice, in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The presented simulations allowed us to conclude that an agricultural biogas plant can be an ecological potential in the form of reducing the consumption of fossil fuels by reducing emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere while reducing fossil fuel consumption. It was important for the practice to confirm that investing in renewable energy sources, including the use of biogas, is part of the goals and directions of development related to the sustainable management of environmental resources and the development of renewable energy sources.
    W ostatnich latach jednym z kluczowych postulatów w polityce Unii Europejskiej stał się rozwój odnawialnych źródeł energii. W Polsce pojawiła się idea, że potencjał energetyczny krajowego rolnictwa może stanowić szansę na szersze wykorzystanie dostępnej biomasy rolniczej. Biorąc pod uwagę fakt, że biogaz rolniczy od dawna postrzegany jest jako jeden z najbardziej obiecujących kierunków transformacji energetycznej, celem artykułu była ocena potencjału rynku biogazu rolniczego w Polsce. Metodologia badań została oparta na miarach statystycznych związanych z analizą struktury i zmian w czasie w poszczególnych latach. Analizę struktury przeprowadzono dla wybranych województw Polski, dla których zbudowano rozkłady empiryczne i obliczono wybrane parametry opisowe. Podobnej analizy dokonano w stosunku do wybranych krajów unijnych. Ponadto zgodnie z Krajowym Planem Działań w zakresie energii ze źródeł odnawialnych w każdej polskiej gminie powinna powstać co najmniej jedna biogazownia rolnicza. Na tej podstawie w artykule dokonano oceny efektu ekologicznego projektu biogazowi rolniczej w miejscowości Marcinkowice, w województwie zachodniopomorskim. Przedstawione symulacje pozwoliły na stwierdzenie, że biogazownia rolnicza może stanowić potencjał ekologiczny w postaci ograniczenia zużycia paliw kopalnych poprzez zmniejszenie emisji zanieczyszczeń i gazów cieplarnianych do atmosfery, przy jednoczesnym ograniczeniu zużycia paliw kopalnych. Istotnym dla praktyki było potwierdzenie, że inwestowanie w zakresie odnawialnych źródeł energii, w tym wykorzystanie biogazu, wpisuje się w cele i kierunki rozwoju związane ze zrównoważonym gospodarowaniem zasobami środowiska i rozwojem odnawialnych źródeł energii.

    The renewable energy gains over the recent years on the meaning, also in consideration of increasing prices the energy and some signs of changes of climate caused by the man. Thereby in many countries the large press lies down on the use of renewable sources of energy such as water, the sun, the wind and the biomass covering every now and again the best part of the power requirement. One of method of the production of the energy from the biomass is the production of the biogas in specially to this end constructed devices so called biogas plants. To create of conditions to the development of this field are necessary specific performances supporting and propagating on the domestic grade and regional. In Germany the enforcement of amended law about the renewable energy contributed to true bumu in the sector of the energy production from the biogas. In Germany in 1999 functioned 850 agricultural biogas plants, in 2003 – 1700 and in 2005 – 2800. In Poland until the year 2005 according to data given by the Office of the Regulation of the Energetics worked 64 power plants supported on the biogas. One ought however to remember that this number includes except agricultural biogas plants first of all installations of the refuse dump gas and the biogas on the refinery of sewage. Poland is a rich country in the stony coal field in the face of this the dependency of the country from the import of this raw material is least. In turn of the gas consumption of terrestrial in Poland increases and the perspective of the dependency himself from the import of this raw material until the year 2030 indicates the more and more greater need for the purchase of this raw material besides limits of our country. On the basis the information contained in the report European P utting green Gas Grid from the year 2014 results that the biomethane production in countries of western Europe gains the more and more greater popularity. This results from this that the import of natural gas to Europe is realized almost as a whole from the east direction. In European Union are many countries which import 100% their demand on natural gas to {in the face of} this aspect the reduction of the dependency themselves these countries from the import of gas in the figure {form} of the production of biomethane becomes a key-matter. For the purpose of the improvement of the development of agricu ltural biogas plants in Poland arose the government-document going out opposite to postulates about the necessity of the establishment of the system promoting and supporting the production of the agricultural biogas. A foundation „of Directions of the development agricultural biogas plants in Poland in years 2010–2020” is the creation of optimum-conditions to the development of installations producing the agricultural biogas so until the year 2020 to lead to the construction of averagely one biogas plant in every commune using the biomass of the agricultural origin, on the assumption possessions through the commune of applicable provisions to the execution of such undertaking.

    This article is a very general discussion of formed market for biogas plants in Poland. The author presents some guidelines for the detailed analysis of the market. Shows the characteristic elements of the market for agricultural biogas plants, which is primarily a product: biogas and energy from biogas. It presents the major market players, who are producers, customers and suppliers. It also discusses the competitive forces and the relations which exist between them. Speech is also about possible substitutes, and the potential emergence of new entrants. This article provides preliminary considerations for a proper analysis of the market, which is the subject of scientific work of the author, and which aims to examine the methodological any regularity in the behavior of consumers and producers' reactions to changing information coming from the market.

    The process of intensive transformation to which the sugar beet market in the European Union has been subject in recent years in order to meet the external obligations set by the WTO Panel, has had a severe impact on sugar beet production in Poland. Two major observations have been reported, namely a significant decrease of number of sugar beet farms and a reduction in those areas of tillage surfaces intended for sugar beet cultivation. It is worth mentioning that sugar beet is highly important to crop rotation and hardly any other plant in European agriculture can replace it. There is therefore both a strong need and a great opportunity for the further support and development of sugar beet production. As the international obligation to reduce greenhouse gas emission became effective, interest in biomass usage as a viable alternative to fossil fuels increased. This study thus set out to perform an economic comparison in respect of the use of sugar beets for traditional purposes and for energy, and to conduct an economic analysis of the income obtained from the sale of electrical energy sale by a biogas facility where sugar beets were used for biogas production. The comparative analysis was carried out taking both incomes from sugar beet production for sugar and root and leaf production for biogas into consideration. The results are very promising and allow the postulation that the use of sugar beet for biogas production provides an excellent opportunity for reviving defunct sugar plants and increasing the tillage surface for sugar beet in Poland.
    Proces intensywnej transformacji rynku produkcji cukru, której została poddana Unia Europejska w ostatnich latach, w celu spełnienia zobowiązań zewnętrznych wyznaczonych przez panel WTO, miał poważny wpływ na produkcję buraków cukrowych w Polsce. Nastąpił znaczny spadek liczby gospodarstw uprawiających buraki cukrowe i zmniejszenie powierzchni przeznaczonej na uprawę tej rośliny. Jednakże burak cukrowy jest bardzo ważną rośliną w produkcji rolniczej, zarówno z punktu widzenia miejsca w płodozmianie, jak i opłacalności uprawy. Badania wskazują także na szerokie możliwości alternatywnego wykorzystania buraków. Istnieje zatem potrzeba wspierania rozwoju produkcji buraka cukrowego. Dzięki międzynarodowym zobowiązaniom do redukcji emisji gazów cieplarnianych, wzrosło zainteresowanie wykorzystaniem biomasy, w tym buraka cukrowego, jako alternatywy dla paliw kopalnych. Artykuł obejmuje ekonomiczne porównanie wykorzystania buraków cukrowych do produkcji cukru i alternatywnego, do produkcji energii. W pracy przeprowadzono analizę ekonomiczną dochodów uzyskanych ze sprzedaży energii elektrycznej przez biogazownię, w której buraki cukrowe były wykorzystywane do produkcji biometanu. Analiza porównawcza została przeprowadzona dla dochodów z produkcji buraków cukrowych przeznaczonych na cukier oraz z przeznaczeniem do produkcji biogazu, wykorzystując korzenie i liście. Wyniki pozwalają na stwierdzenie, że wykorzystanie buraków cukrowych do produkcji biogazu może być podstawą do zwiększenia powierzchni uprawy buraków cukrowych w Polsce, a także do zaadaptowania zamkniętych cukrowni na biogazownie.
