Both linear and aerial elements of forest recreational management should be equipped with recreational facilities which are called “small architecture”. Small architecture is very diverse and serves many different functions, thus it is very important in recreation space. Recreation facilities have to be safe for potential users and offer comfort and relaxation. These conditions can be fulfilled if the construction of facilities is based on anthropometric features of the users. In this paper, there are presented the results of analyses carried out with regard to adaptating technical parameters of selected forest facilities to potential user anthropometry. The study was conducted in Warsaw municipal forests. The analyses were based on analytical formulas, which give appropriate information about the parameters of perfectly designed facilities. Examination of technical condition of the recreation facilities analyzed was also included in the study.

Opis:
In team sports, the varied levels of physical demand associated with different field positions are reflected in the morphofunctional features of the players. The aim of this work was to recognize how the playing position in the team depends on the anthropometric profiles and the strength level of professional handball players. Methods: A body mass, stature, lower and upper extremity length, circumferences and skinfolds were measured in the male professional athletes. The body composition was analysed using a bioelectrical impedance method. Additionally, hand grip and back strength were measured. A statistical analysis was carried out using routinely statistic methods and principal component analysis. Results: Pivot players usually have the most athletic figure in terms of size and weight and relatively short legs. The backs are characterized by the android body type and low subcutaneous fat content, and a large mass of body cells. The backs and pivots have the same strength of back and hand grip. Goalkeepers have relatively long upper and lower limbs and high back and hand grip strength. The wingers are usually slender, have medium length limbs, low body fat percentage, significant extracellular mass and the lowest muscle strength. Conclusions: The results of the multivariate analysis were a notable and valuable addition to the study of morphological and strength differences in a group quite homogeneous like a handball team. The principal component analysis allowed for a reduction of the multidimensional structure to three variables describing body massiveness, strength, and the length and height aspect of the body.

This paper presents an anthropometric database of high school and university students from Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. Forty-one high school participants (21 males and 20 females), 13–17 years old, and 143 university students (74 males and 69 females) took part in the study. Twenty-one static body dimensions were measured. The greatest mean differences in the anthropometric data between male and female high school students were found in the sitting elbow height. In addition, a comparison of anthropometric data of male and female university students showed that data for males and females were significantly different, except for buttock–popliteal length, sitting elbow height and thigh clearance. The primary aim of this study was to develop an anthropometric database that could be used as a primary reference in designing products, devices and equipment for ergonomic learning environments.

Opis:
Background. The current trend for a slim body has spread to all age groups and social strata. It is necessary to monitor health- and eating-related behaviours among young people to counteract bad eating habits. Aim. To examine body satisfaction taking into account anthropometrics and physical activity data in high-school youth over the course of a three-year study. Material & Methods. Anthropological examinations on the same high-school students were conducted in: 2014, 2015, 2016 – always in September. The parameters measured included: body weight, body height (B-v), waist and hip circumference. Somatic indices were calculated: BMI, WHR, Rohrer’s index. The study also included a questionnaire with questions about the number of hours of physical activity per week, the length of time in training in a given sports discipline, self-assessment of body satisfaction and eating habits. Results. For both girls and boys the intensity of physical exercise declined year by year. The potential reason may be that the young people got to know one another after the first year and did not feel compelled to work on their body (to appear more attractive). As many as 56% of girls were not satisfied with their body in first grade and 71% of boys. In the two subsequent years, dissatisfaction rates dropped for both sexes. Conclusions. There is a need for health-promoting programmes so that young people can learn about the principles of nutrition and not experiment with excessive dieting
Tło. Współczesna moda na szczupłą sylwetkę przenika do wszystkich grup społecznych w każdym wieku. Monitorowanie zachowań zdrowotnych i żywieniowych wśród młodzieży jest niezbędne, aby przeciwdziałać złym nawykom żywieniowym. Cel. Zbadanie zadowolenia z własnej sylwetki przy uwzględnieniu antropometrii i aktywności ruchowej u młodzieży licealnej w ciągu trzech lat badań. Materiał & Metoda. Badania antropologiczne u tej samej młodzieży licealnej zostały wykonane w 2014, 2015, 2016 roku – zawsze we wrześniu. Zmierzono: masę ciała, wysokość ciała (B-v), obwód pasa i bioder. Wyliczono wskaźniki somatyczne: BMI, WHR, wskaźnik Rohrera. Pytania ankietowe dotyczyły liczby godzin aktywności fizycznej w tygodniu, jak długo trenuje uczeń podaną dyscyplinę sportową, ocena zadowolenia z własnej sylwetki, wywiad dotyczący nawyków żywieniowych. Wyniki.

Introduction. Environmental conditions have been changing over the years and the body’s capacity to adapt affects human development, its growth and typogenesis. Aim. To confirm the secular trend in the population of children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 from Rzeszów in the last 35 years in terms of growing and differentiation body proportions. Materials and methods. In 2013/2014, a total of 1,563 children from Rzeszów were examined. The length of the trunk, the upper limb, the lower limb, the width of the shoulders and the width of the hips were measured and the following indices were calculated: trunk length, upper limb length, lower limb length, inter-limb, hip-shoulder and shoulder width. The data was subjected to statistical analysis and compared to the data collected in 1978/79, 1993/1994 and 2003/2004. Results. During the 35-year period, the following symptoms were observed: elongation of upper and lower limbs in both sexes, increase in shoulder width in boys from 15-18 years of age, and in girls generally in the entire examined age, tendency to decrease in hip width in both sexes in most age classes. Conclusions. The secular trend in the population of children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 from Rzeszów in the last 35 years regarding growth process and differentiating body proportions was confirmed.

Background. Bakery products such as bread, rolls, croissants and others are an important part of eating habits. Recently, their consumption has been associated with an undesirable increase and prevalence of overweight or obesity. Objective. The aim of the work was to analyze the influence of the consumption frequency of selected types of bread / bakery products on anthropometric parameters in a group of university students. Material and Methods. The group was composed of 120 volunteers consuming different types of bread / bakery products with different consumption frequencies during the week. The anthropometric parameters were measured by InBody 720. To obtain information on the frequency of consumption we used the questionnaire method. Results. The results suggest that in most cases it is not the type of product that is decisive, but its quantity consumed and frequency of consumption supported by low daily physical activity, resp. sedentary lifestyle. We found similar results of the influence of the consumption frequency on anthropometric parameters for all types of bread. Low levels of physical activity, basal metabolism and consumption of selected types of bakery products (wheat bread, wheat rolls, sweet pastries and gluten-free variants) can cause an increase in visceral as well as total body fat, weight gain, BMI, at the expense of fat-free mass. Our results showed that the groups of participants who did not consume a certain type of bread at all, rarely or 1 to 3 times a week, showed higher values of the examined parameters (BMI, body weight, body fat percentage, WHR) compared to the group which consumed a particular type of bakery products on average 4 to 7 times a week. The parameter ́s values were largely influenced by the levels of physical activity. Conclusions. Based on the results it is possible to assume that if the bakery products are the part of a balanced diet with regard to the individual energy needs, it should not be the main cause of overweight / obesity in humans

Height and Body Mass Index are anthropological measurements increasingly often used in studies on the standard of living of historical populations. This article conducts an assessment of the way in which those measurements reflect religious (Christians–Jews) and socio-economic (place of residence, profession, literacy) differences dividing the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Poland upon the eve of the Great War. The basic sources are almost 8000 measurements of 21-year old recruits from the gubernia of Warsaw. Height and BMI (Body Mass Index) in the Christians–Jews cross-section statistically differed to the disadvantage of the latter group. An equally essential impact was exerted by the place of residence. The residents of Warsaw were taller than the inhabitants of villages and small towns, but their BMI was lower; as many as 20% of Jewish recruits from Warsaw were underweight. The differentiation of height proves that the standard of living in towns was higher than in the countryside and small towns. In the case of Warsaw lower BMI could be explained by two causes: first, in past populations BMI measured not so much body fat as the muscle mass, which was higher in the villages. Second, the disproportion between height and BMI in Warsaw reflected a change in the participation of food expenses in household budgets. The moment young men became independent they probably limited food consumption and spent more on other commodities and entertainment available in large cities.

Anthropometric indicators and motor abilities are significant components of the successful implementation of the physical potential of young basketball players. The aim of the study was to describe and compare anthropometric characteristics, indicators of physical and special preparedness for basketball players under the age of 12 and up to 14 years, to identify the presence and degree of relationship between these indicators in each group of athletes. Athletes (n = 50) were grouped in groups under 12 years (U12, 10.97 ±0.48 years; n = 24), and under 14 (U14; 12.96 ±0.49 years; n = 26), body height and body weight were measured, dexterity and indicators of special preparedness were tested and compared (“Throws into the basket from different positions”, “Free Throws”, “Ten eights”). U12 players showed lower performance than the U14 group in all tests except the “Free Throws” test. All athletes showed astrong correlation between jumping and dexterity (p < 0.01). The U14 athletes showed astrong (p < 0.01) and moderate (p < 0.05) relationship between the indicators of special preparedness. Assessment of indicators of physical development, physical and special preparedness of athletes, the study of the relationship of these indicators at different periods of ontogenesis will help rationally differentiate training loads, emphasize pedagogical influences and optimize the training process.

Introduction: Because of the fact that detailed data on the physiological characteristics of Pencak Silat are still limited. The primary purpose of this study to assess the physiological responses of Pencak Silat athletes and a secondary aim is to compare the physiological responses of Pencak Silat athletes with physiological responses of Taekwondo athletes. Material and Methods: This study has included 17 male junior martial art athletes (aged 15-16 years). This study requires all participants to completed one familiarization session and two experimental sessions. During the first session (laboratory condition), anthropometry was measured in the laboratory, and during the second session (on-court condition), the participants completed tests for anaerobic capacity (sprint test 60-m, vertical jump, push-ups, and sit-ups) and VO2max test.
