His handwritten notes which contained his memories from these journeys are very important and intellectually atractive reading.

Mieczysław Wallis (1895-1975) authored 18 books, including 15 monographs in art history, the major ones being Autoportret (Self-Portrait, 1964), Poznna tworczosc wielkich artystów (The Late Works of Great Artists, 1975) and Secesja (Art Nouveau, 1967). Also worth noting is Sztuki i znaki. Pisma semiotyczne (Arts and Signs. Semiotic Writings, 1983). The main contribution of M. Wallis to art history lies in his modern metahistorical reflections, which are based on the firmly held beliefs about close relations between art history and other fields of art and aesthetics. His recommended method is moderate historiosophical relativism. Wallis recognizes within the process of reception the important role that scientific discourse and cultural paradigm play. In Secesja he used the iconological method, combining art with the philosophical and scientific thought of the Belle Epoque. In his analyses of medieval art he introduced the semiotic method, having successfully avoided the constraints characteristic of semiological studies. A philosophy of art history which assumes the variability of forms, of aesthetic sensibility and of knowledge does not necessarily lead to an extreme relativism, but accepts artistic pluralism; it allows us to retain the view on the continuity of art towards the avant-garde. Wallis interpreted its variable character by distinguishing between soft and sharp aesthetic values. Wallis laid the basis for an original, interdisciplinary approach to art. However, the distance that separated him from the aesthetics focused on the work of art itself, as well as from the social history and ideological criticism which were opposed to it, was the reason for his ideas to remain outside the mainstream of academic art history and aesthetics.

Opis:
In financial analysis rating systems can be applied to divide firms into homogeneous groups. One of these methods is provided by DEA. The method is based on the efficiency optimization for firms described by the set of financial indicators. An important issue is not only estimation of efficiency but also homogeneity of given groups. Within the Hosking-Wallis test one compares variability calculated with respect to L-moments with expected variability for homogeneous groups.The aim of our research was to apply the Hosking-Wallis test to investigate the homogeneity of DEA groups of companies. In the paper we present the results of our research for a set of Polish production companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Opis:
National and regional strategies and policies on innovation have been prioritized and innovation is now core to most EU funds and strategies. However, regions are not (should not be) alike in terms of innovation and innovation policy. The development strategies based on innovativeness ideas must include specific local conditions. Effective actions and efforts, to create good environment for innovativeness must bring tangible results. The aim of the paper is comparison of innovativeness on different regions types according to territorial typology: rural, intermediate and urban. The research questions are: Does innovativeness depends on regional typology: urban-rural? Do remote, less developed rural areas have also low achievements (poor performance) in this regard? Innovation output is measured using its hard result, which is number of patent application per capita. To examine group differences according to the innovativeness, the Kruskal-Wallis test was conducted. The test statistic showed, that there is no statistically significant difference between patent applications on different regions types. It has been found that the highest variable value in the whole sample has been calculated in rural group, for rural regions in Switzerland.

Artykuł ma charakter aplikacyjny. Jego celem jest analiza zależności pomiędzy poziomem oszczędności, deklarowanym przez polskie gospodarstwa domowe, a zmiennymi charakteryzującymi te gospodarstwa, takimi jak: źródło utrzymania, klasa zamieszkiwanej miejscowości, typ biologiczny rodziny czy subiektywna ocena własnej sytuacji finansowej. Badanie przeprowadzone będzie na danych pochodzących z Diagnozy społecznej. Ponieważ wszystkie wykorzystywane zmienne mierzone są na słabych skalach pomiaru, do wykrycia i zbadania wspomnianych zależności zostaną wykorzystane narzędzia dedykowane takim problemom, m.in.: test niezależności chi-kwadrat, test Kruskala–Wallisa (nieparametryczny odpowiednik analizy wariancji) oraz analiza korespondencji.
This article was written in an application manner. Its purpose was to analyze the relationship between the level of savings declared by Polish households and the variables characterizing these households, such as: source of livelihood, class of resident town, biological type of family, or subjective assessment of their financial situation. The study was based on data from the Social Diagnosis. Because all the variables were measured on weak scales, dedicated tools were used to detect and investigate these dependencies, including: Chi-square independence test, Kruskal–Wallis test (nonparametric equivalent of analysis of variance) and correspondence analysis.

The article presents the results of several years of analytical and reconstruction efforts carried out by the author who focused on archival writings by Mieczysław Wallis, a representative of the second generation of the Lvov-Warsaw School, which were to a large extent unknown to readers. Wallis’ intellectual profile has been associated so far mostly with his writings on art criticism, aesthetics, theory, and history of art. In the light of painstaking, multistage research of the large collection of his unpublished archival works, it turned out that the current perception of his intellectual preferences and academic achievements is too narrow and simplified. What is especially little known and insufficiently edited are his notes on philosophical anthropology, discussing the question of human existence and human activity in the world. They contain a unique philosophical program based on the axiological concept called psychological relationism. Its main category is the “homo creativus” approach. Wallis’ intellectual program is a valuable contribution to the achievements of the Lvov-Warsaw School and, in general, to the Polish philosophy of the 20th century.

W spuściźnie archiwalnej Mieczysława Wallisa znajdują się teczki zawierające jego wspomnienia oraz korespondencję z Henrykiem Elzenbergiem, ukazujące doniosłość i znaczenie roli, jaką przyjaźń z Wallisem odegrała w życiu toruńskiego filozofa. Wallis pełnił wobec niego rolę powiernika, doradcy, a nawet mentora, nie tylko na niwie prywatnej, ale także i naukowej. Elzenberg wielokrotnie konsultował z nim swe twórcze plany, prosił o opinię dotyczącą powstających opracowań i koncepcji twórczych, a także dzielił się swoimi dylematami naukowymi i twórczymi. Co ważne, w Wallisowskich archiwaliach znajdują się także wspomnienia dotyczące jego osobistej oceny najważniejszych dzieł i koncepcji twórczych Elzenberga, wzbogacające dotychczasową wiedzę o kontekście ich powstania czy ukonstytuowania.

Purpose: This paper aims to check the contribution of Logistics Information Systems - LIS to supply chain optimization in the steel industry group of Bachir Rachid. This group that owns eight independent companies and numerous points of sale and warehouses, has to be connected by such advanced systems to ensure effectiveness and profitability. Methodology: A questionnaire was distributed among a group of employees, and the collected data was later analyzed by SPSS 25 and complemented by further structured and unstructured interviews. We have realized an analysis of variance to evaluate the impact of LIS on logistics activities, supply chain management, and integration as well as optimization. The test of Kruskal-Wallis H was chosen due to the non-linearity of the data. Results: This work proves that Logistics Information Systems contribute to the performance of logistics activities, supply chain integration, and supply chain optimization through the enhancement of the efficiency of supply chain management and by the reduction of supply chain costs. The theoretical contribution: The contribution made to the theory of logistics and supply chain management lies in confirming previous findings on the contribution of LIS to logistics and supply chain optimization in Algeria, and more specifically, in the steel industry.

Space is usually perceived and examined as a tridimensional, but visual construct. The article shows it as a process, in which both external (systemic, environmental) and internal (psychological, physical) factors matter. They are important in all kinds of space perception, including the auditory one, which is often disregarded. Meanwhile, it can furnish rich information on one’s point in the space, events happening around, character and function of a place etc. What cannot be ignored is that “auditory spatial awareness” [Blesser, 2007] influences people’s behavior. This is the reason why architects, governments and artists start to pay attention to this phenomenon, while social researchers do surveys. Their cooperation can be seen in Evidence-Based Design architectonic trend or Project for Public Spaces. Similar, but stricter requirements are set by the European Commission. But surrounding sounds are not only damaging and disturbing. Many of them are helpful, provide information, give solace and many are parts of soundmarks, “acoustic landmarks”; are components of identity. Gathering sounds, often ascribed to places, became a new kind of entertainment and artistic activity.

This article aims to examine the effects of new technology on the purchase of regional brands in Czechia and draw conclusions that will help to adapt the brands to customer needs. Regional brands are a speciality of Central Europe, which emerged due to consumer dissatisfaction with low-quality of global retail products. These traditional local handmade products are heavily influenced by new technology and customers requiring them to be purchasable online with a massive online presence. The sample consisted of 1050 residents of the Czech Republic. The data were gathered by a professional marketing agency Ipsos using a questionnaire survey. The sample was tested using the one-way Chi-square test, which had good compliance to test the basic sample characteristics, followed with the one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to test the data distribution, and then, the dependencies were tested with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Finally, a post-hoc test suitable for the type of analysis could be chosen to better understand the type of factors that could influence the results and their possible effect. The main findings indicate a slow change in the demand as customers are neutral in relation to regional brands available from online shops as well as their about social media presence but require them to have a good-quality website. Solutions are proposed using a government-run brand with a platform providing web layouts and hybrid e-shop. The type of content is proposed, indicating the appropriate execution, which should be done based on the researched-derived segmentation criteria.

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja rynku usług gastronomicznych w Europie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem charakterystyki funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw świadczących usługi gastronomiczne w Finlandii, Francji, Niemczech, Polsce, Rumunii, Słowacji i na Węgrzech. Celem jest także prezentacja wyników międzynarodowych badań bezpośrednich dotyczących oceny placówek gastronomicznych w tych krajach. Badania przeprowadzono w 2014 roku techniką ankiety rozdawanej na próbie 1742 konsumentów z 7 krajów Europy. Wyniki analizy porównawczej funkcjonowania placówek usługowych wskazują na pozytywne opinie konsumentów na temat funkcjonowania placówek gastronomicznych. Najwyżej funkcjonowanie placówek usługowych oceniają mieszkańcy Rumunii, a najniżej Słowacji. Najwyższe oceny dotyczą lokalizacji placówek i godzin ich funkcjonowania, a najniższe poziomu cen i obsługi klienta. Wyniki badań mogą służyć poprawie funkcjonowania placówek gastronomicznych w badanych krajach Europy. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy.
The aim of the article is to identify the catering services market in Europe, with focus on the characteristics of the catering branch in Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. The aim is also to present the results of international direct surveys concerning the assessment of catering establishments in these countries. The study was conducted using a survey of 1742 consumers from 7 European countries. The results of a comparative analysis of the functioning of catering services confirm positive opinions of consumers. The highest ratings for catering services are given by inhabitants of Romania, while the lowest – in Slovakia. The highest rated are location and opening hours, and the lowest rated – price and customer service. The research results may serve to improve the functioning of catering establishments in the selected European countries. The article is of the research nature.
Цель статьи – выявить рынок услуг общепита в Европе, с особым учетом характеристик функционирования предприятий, предоставляющих услуги общепита в Венгрии, Германии, Польше, Румынии, Словакии, Финляндии и Франции. Очередная цель – представить результаты международных опросов, насающихся оценки заведений общепита в этих странах. Изучение провели в 2014 г. по методу анкеты на выборке 1742 потребителей из 7 стран Европы. Результаты сопоставительного анализа функционирования заведений общественного питания указывают положительные мнения потребителей о функционировании заведений общепита. Лучше всего функционирование заведений общепита оценивают жители Румынии, хуже всего же – Словакии. Самые высокие оценки касаются размещения заведений и часов их работы, самый же низкий уровень оценок – цен и обслуживания клиентов. Результаты изучения могут служить улучшению функционирования заведений общепита в обследуемых странах Европы. Статья имеет исследовательский характер.

Artykuł poświęcony jest działalności Mieczysława Wallisa jako krytyka sztuki, zarówno jego tekstom publikowanym w gazetach codziennych, jak i czasopismach kulturalnych lub naukowych. Uwzględnione zostały recenzje wystaw i publikacji poświęconych sztuce, teksty okolicznościowe, jubileuszowe oraz krótkie wspomnienia. Najpierw przedstawiono wszechstronną edukację i interdyscyplinarne zainteresowania filozofa. Następnie omówiono jego teksty z zakresu krytyki artystycznej z podziałem na sztukę tradycyjną i nowoczesną. Ważnym historycznym punktem zwrotnym jest tutaj II wojna światowa, w której Wallis stracił cały swój dorobek. W związku z tym próbował odtworzyć wiele prac, co nie pozwoliło mu zająć się wszystkim, czym się aktualnie interesował. Ponadto w artykule podkreślono elementy wyróżniające Wallisa jako krytyka, są to: odważne decyzje terminologiczne i aksjologiczne, obszerny katalog wartości estetycznych, rehabilitacja pogardzanych zjawisk, obrona sztuki współczesnej, zmysłowy opis przedmiotów. Zwrócono także uwagę na to, jak dziedziny semiotyki i psychologii uprawiane w dojrzałej fazie twórczości wpłynęły na jego krytykę artystyczną. Ostatnia część tekstu jest poświęcona refleksji metakrytycznej.
This article discusses the activities of Mieczysław Wallis as an art critic, published both in daily newspapers and in cultural or philosophical magazines. It also takes into account exhibition reviews, discussions of publications devoted to art, various occasional, jubilee texts, and short memories. First, the comprehensive education and interdisciplinary interests of the philosopher are presented. Then, his critical articles are discussed. This part of the paper considers the division into traditional and modern art. An important historical turning point is World War II, when Wallis’ legacy was lost. He tried to recreate many works, which made it impossible to take care of everything he was currently interested in. The article highlights the distinguishing features of Wallis’s criticism, which are: bold terminological and axiological decisions, an extensive catalogue of aesthetic values, rehabilitation of despised phenomena, defence of modern art, sensual description of objects. Attention is also paid to how the fields of semiotics and psychology cultivated in the mature phase of the author’s work influenced his artistic criticism. The last part of the article is devoted to metacritical aspects of Wallis’s aesthetic thought.

Opis:
The analysis of temperatures in the cold store of finished products was performed due to the occurrence of temperature fluctuations. The analysis in the report was conducted using Kruskal-Wallis test, Bartlett test, Nemenyi’s test Statistical analysis of measured values in individual months. The relationship between the temperature in the cold store and the outside air temperature was investigated. Quality tools were also used in the thesis. The causes of temperature fluctuations were determined by Cause-Effect diagnostics. The relationship between the main causes was analyzed with Relation Diagram. Corrective measures were then determined to minimize the temperature fluctuations in the cold store.
